JCIN OAU donates Modernized Well to Agbogbo community.

On sunday february 14, 2016, the entire populace of Agbogbo community in Ile-Ife was in a joyous mood as a new modernised well was commissioned in the village. The modernized well which was constructed by Junior Chamber International OAU Chapter was a project that has been on for some months now, the project which was tagged 'BetterLifeWithWater' was finally commissioned on sunday.

Agbogbo community is a typical example of a rural area which lack basic amenities (such as electricity, potable water, good road et.c.) for the survival of the villagers. Speaking to OauPeeps correspondent the Vice President (Project) of the organization Adepoju Adedamola said the water project was executed after due consultation with villagers who told her that portable water tops their priority. She said the project is one of the voluntary projects the organisation execute to benefit humanity.

The well was commissioned by two international vice President of the Youth organisation in person of Mr Ryad Subratty and Mr Femi Osikelu. Also in attendance was the Staff adviser of the organization Prof. Orafidiya, the National President Tunji Oyeyemi, and the National Director of Project Mr Ralph Oyeyemi.

The people in the village show their deep sense of gratitude and appreciation to the organization for executing such in their project when government has dessert
them.
Also, mosquito nets were donated to the villagers so as to combat malaria among the polulace.

I do not know where you buy your KLM tickets from. I have bought KLM tickets to lagos (LCY and LHR), bought directly from KLM's website on numerous occasions and have never experienced what you stated.
Same here, actually surprised some people are experiencing this, last time i booked BA was about three years ago from the comfort of my house, the rest have been KLM with absolutely no issues

is this a new policy?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Why Is It Taking So Long For A Recruitment Firm To Hire After Interview? by DisGuy: 2:18pm On Feb 13, 2016
You are a ghost worker!! grin

Some oga is probably collecting salary on your behalf!

In saner environments, if you've not heard from recruiters two weeks after interview you've been unsuccessful

The positions are usually verified and approved before adverts;
All the checks should have been done before inviting candidates for interviews

At the end of the day you will see all the toronto MBA degrees and obodo oyinbo training these HR directors parade about
with their bulky suits sweating like xmas goats

simple process they cant have in place

PoliticsRe: Accept Electricity Tariff Hike As Painful Pill – Fashola by DisGuy: 10:14pm On Feb 08, 2016
FabioPeter:
70% of electricity users on the grid DO NOT pay at all, it cost less than 1000naira to bypass your electricity meter, yes of course rarely any consequence other than you enjoy free electricity for years to come.
Now 30% pay their electricity bills, sometimes they run out of units and look out at the neighbours who do not pay at all enjoying power supply( they probably plead with them to o help charge their phones). Same 30% change all bulbs to energy saving bulbs and turn off light not in use yet watch their neighbours leave the bulb permanently switched on.
Fashola is fully aware of this ratio and even expressed his frustration. What baffles me is the decision to increase the burden of the unwise 30% who pay their bills. What he demands is that 30% should pay the bill of 100%. This is indeed very silly. I need some common sense hence forth.
Thanks for giving me a good idea...elemi lo ma last grin

In previous years we heard all these business smarts bamboozling us about how increasing the rate will make the sector attractive to investors, how everything will fall in place once the rates are increased citing American example like wages are the same...we re now on probably the fifth rise now and still darkness; they probably all disappeared after chopping their own 'consulting' for Nerc, discos and transcos

Dr Amadi even went on national TV requesting Nigerians should call him directly if they are asked to pay for their meter...2016 zilch!
People are still struggling to get meters, still 'contributing money for transformers

Gerrard59:
I do appreciate the advise and tip-bits. This is where I so much thank Jarushub and Co. I am studying Genetics and Biotechnology; although I love the course, I see myself more as a business analyst/consulting/investment-banking individual(intend writing my ICAN later on CIS, CFA etc, this would definitely come after work experiences) .

I was criticized by a colleague of not being interested in practicals as the course entails practicals; issue is I'm more interested in the business of things. I would rather work in the business development unit of Syngenta( say hi to Chemchina) than be in its labs, work in Vetiva Capital than Astrazeneca(Nigeria branch oh) .

Nonetheless, I'm doing very well, recently saw my results and I was elated and motivated(currently on a First Class). The problem with learning a foreign language(tried Duolingo) is the lack of fellow speakers to help hone one's skill. Intend following the plan of learning the language before/during service; preferably French or Chinese.

To further add, students should watch stations like Bloomberg, CNN, BBC. Read newspapers like The Economist, Wall Street Journal, Financial times, Straits Times of Singapore, SCMP(spend half of my pocket money on subscriptions) to hone their business and spoken English skills.
Follow individuals like Naga Munchetty, Mark Barton, Anna Edwards, Caroline Hyde. Chei! I'm a Bloomberg fanatic. grin

Leadership skills is my weakness. I have been accused of being self centered(how would I love someone more than myself?). Intended going for the departmental president, was advised by close colleagues to shelve the idea as I would lose woefully.
So I ask, is the leadership skill that necessary? How did you get such skills if you didn't/don't like talking to people or addressing a crowd?

I went through your posts and I discovered you're a serious and disciplined fellow. Would mind if I follow your posts and topics?

Thanks a lot. Learnt a lot.
Better concentrate on your First Class project than justling for that president campaign- In nigerian university student union and the likes are akin to agberoism - I don't even know which HR sees that as a positive thing- Join sports- even Table Tennis be the coordinator of the weekly tournament or organise Marathons!!

Or how much influence do you think they hold over 'their' people in the real sense of it.

Plus they are far too many of them in one region like one king per local government grin

What have they done for us apart from collect money from state government and fill their drab palaces with stuffed toy animals
