![]() Ballzproblemm:No, agbero isn't a normal thing. Not in all states. But I won't push that part. --- Arm robbery? Kidnapping? Killings? In Port Harcourt? Let's start with Slaughter off Elelenwo. Yeah... You get the picture now. |
plat0:If living and working in a state for a few years then having to spend some days at a stretch every other month there categorizes as living there, then yes, I partly live in Rivers State. Rivers is a freaking violent state. Want to argue? Mention where you reside there and I'd mention specific places I hobnob in. No or yes? You can't because where you reside is a violence hotspot. Rivers state is safe, If you're boxed up, Rivers state is a better place to stay compared to Lagos. Yes there are cases of small crimes here and there but then in advanced climes, they also grapple with little crimes.Rivers is so violent, a gunshot in the air wouldn't scare the residents. Hard as nails. Loud bang like "kpos!!!" and in two minutes people are moving around like nothing is happening. In the creeks, kids would tell you what gun type makes a particular sound. I don't think there's any other place in the South where a group of fun seekers are sprayed with bullets to get one person why an antagonisers but Rivers State breaks that rule. On any vice index, Lagos probably tops Rivers on a ritual killing scale. But on thuggery, Lagos is extortion at parks and markets, Rivers is to extort, rob, and harm. Again, how many teenage boys born and raised in Port Harcourt don't get into gangs? How many Port Harcourt youths don't use gang slangs? |
Ballzproblemm:LOL. Once you get to Onne, the first thing you'd hear is, "Abobo, jazz in dia!" Drive down to Oil Mill and it's "Esssssss! Who dey kpramma for di ama?!' (Whatever "kpramma" means?) Yep! You don't need signposts - Welcome to Rivers 'fûcking' State! |
Ballzproblemm:I figured you'd say this. If you had stated where you resided, I'd have stated where I resided in the city, where I worked and specific places I sort of go to when I visit the city (which is frequently). Even the CarniRiv during Amaechi's time in December was always punctuated by violence. Get caught up in that stadium by past 7PM and it's you and you alone. But I won't push it. |
Itsrm:UST? RSUST which is the Hogwarts for violent cultists? Yeah! You'd be robbed in front of those police stations right under that bridge and nothing would happen. Those boys and the police are in collusion. How do people who work in filing stations, eateries and offices who close late go to their houses? You think they book bolt? Are you saying they are all robbed or kidnapped?Kidnappers won't kidnap everybody, but they'd rob and kidnap still. The fact that the state or to be specific PHC city is largely peaceful is not even up for debate. Again, you don't have to believe me. Ask people who live here. The issue was about Rivers State but you zeroed in on PHC which is essentially PHALGA and, say, Obio Akpor LGA; well, parts of Obio Akpor. Even at that, PHC is violent still. You want me to get into what happens at Rumuola which is in the centre of the city itself? Other LGAs? Etche? Onne? Ogoni (Ogoni youths rob in broad day light on the Eleme - Ikot Abasi - Eket federal road). Broad day light. Try denying this. Abonemma? Degema? Need I go on? |
Ballzproblemm:If you wouldn't find it intrusive, do mention what part of Rivers State you reside in. Remember also that Port Harcourt is just a small part of Rivers State, just like Ikeja doesn't paint the whole picture of Lagos. And don't mention relatively cozy areas like Shell. That would be a sheltered view of Rivers. |
Itsrm:Man, let's even focus on PHALGA which is the capital of Rivers. Can you beat your chest that you can walk around Mile 1 unscathed by 9PM? Let's not even go into Ogbunabali. Do I come across like someone who doesn't know how Rivers State works or doesn't know just about every nook and cranny there is? Asides living and working there for years, you'd be surprised how many times a month I have to pop into Rivers (Port Harcourt especially). Abonema, Degema and the likes have kidnappings, shootouts, and killings EVERY SINGLE DAY! Everyday. It's rough in Port Harcourt but outside of Port Harcourt is the Wild West in very direction. |
Ballzproblemm:It's not propaganda. Rivers State has a deep-rooted culture of violence. Once you access the state from Onne or Oyingbo, you'd be greeted with slangs used by clandestine groups. Violence or the threat of it is celebrated in every part too. Every single part. Up until 2015 or 2016, it was an anomaly to find a teenage boy who either hasn't been initiated into these devious groups, affiliated to them, or posturing as one. Even till date. They don't hide - they brag about it. From Obigbo to Eleme to Abua to D-Line and on to Emuoha and beyond, violence, vices, and thuggery are woven into the social lifestyles of the everyday person. No kind of violence or vice the mind can conjure is impossible in Rivers State. Itsrm:Violence, isolated, and Rivers State do not match. There's at least one case of this in Mile 1, Port Harcourt every other month. And this is just a small part of PHALGA. Kidnappings are happening every single day in Rivers State. It's become so commonplace, the local media seem to ignore it. |
chrisooblog:When one tells them not to consume these toxic, destructive and addictive substances, and avoid spending considerable time in spaces where these substances are consumed, they'd blackmail you with being sanctimonious or posturing as a moral beacon who sees himself better than anyone else. When you aren't even campaigning against it but simply pointing out you don't mess with these substances, the gaslighting wouldn't tone down. Asides the social vices brought on by the abusers which would affect others, I'd say they should knock themselves out. Yeah, burn out your kidneys, puncture your lungs, set your liver on fire. Most consciously abuse these things and should face whatever (health and psychological) consequences are the results of such conscious avoidable decisions. Avoidable actions should always have consequences. Always. |
ShaqFu:He will. I stated it already. Going forward, he'd be consulted to validate election results. Obi and Atiku might compensate him. They should. I've already confirmed two governorship candidates going to the tribunal who want to use revalidation of transmissed results on the IReV as part of their proof of being cheated out. They'd certainly reach out to him. He'd become even more influential in such circles. This part is who hurts his techie attackers. If I'm thinking of the potentials, they are thinking of it too. |
ShaqFu:Obidients calling Mark Essien out is what I don't understand. Social media mobs some are. Man built a validating system costing millions (which INEC would have budgeted billions for) when most were doing nothing more than retweeting hashtags. He even opened it to the public. Obi and Atiku are even using his work free. How selfless can one be ? For some tech influencers attacking him, it's partly jealousy. Good thing is, he's not gone vitriolic on them. |
I do not understand those who have been attacking Mark Essien. That man has been relatively consistent in his views, sociopolitical views too. He's (always) been in favour of candidates with antecedence of changing the status quo. In Akwa Ibom, he supported only one aspirant for governorship- Onofiok Luke, who's the youngest SHoA Speaker in the 4th Republic and a current HoR member, and who was the most likely of PDP aspirants to be wholly pro-youth with stated reasons. When Onofiok didn't get the PDP ticket, Essien wanted him on the LP ticket but I guess the LP didn't have the momentum then and traditional rulers prevailed on him. Essien refused to support any candidate thence. For context, Mark Essien and Akpabio are from the same area yet refused supporting candidates Akpabio wanted secretly and openly later. Though I am certain he voted for Akpabio too just like I would have. Even as at 2019 when some of these people would have dismissed Obi, Mark Essien successfully predicted Peter Obi would s a presidential candidate on a 'small party' platform and be a force. He was the first 'Obedient' influencer. And this was before the 2019 presidential elections. 4 years ago! Interestingly, Mark Essien's IReV transcription is being used by both Peter Obi and Atiku in their tribunal cases. While I as DîssTroy can't and won't vouch completely for anyone, I do know from him being on my list on Twitter and Facebook in the last 8 years or so, and interacting especially on Facebook (including following his activities in tech and sociopolitics) that Mark Essien is consistent. Well, more consistent than most. His IReV transcription only transcribes what was uploaded. There are many gaps like blurred or missing uploads. My own Polling Unit result was cropped out on the IReV portal even though Obi won flawlessly. So how would Mark have proven this without the evidence of those who voted with me? See the point? This is the part Obi should focus on in court. What Essien did is revolutionary. A lot of his critics attack him out of envy because they wish it was their initiative, and they know, going forward, Mark's sociopolitical capital would rise as he'd be a consultant for litigating election factions.

![]() Rubyjade:You obviously didn't school in Nigeria else you'd know the churchy/religious female students are the most promiscuous and pretentious too. Like having sex with a guy she just met on Facebook and spending the weekend, only to return on Sunday morning to her lodge then head to church to speak in tongues. You might even be in church with her thinking, "Wasn't this the same girl thrashing in my bed for two straight days". Yes, she'd invite you to church after banging her silly. And she'd likely sleep with another guy in the midweek. Religious girls are the worst. The choristers and 'ministers' especially. |
Maybe for dating or pleasure or just for the experience, but why would a virile young man settle for an older woman? By default, women age faster, and they explore their sexuality faster and wilder than men from teenagehood. Why spend the rest of your with a woman with biological (age) and likely sexual baggages? Maybe she funds his lifestyle or she's a socioeconomic stepping stone. Maybe. |
Donjazet2:This hypocrisy and shameless virtue-signaling are the reasons even people in the Obi camp attack you. Attack all you will about 2023 but absolving yourself of the toxic Buhari-era campaign and aftermath is Amber Heard-level gaslighting and unaccountability. Like Dayo, you trolled and mocked everyone in other camps while championing Buhari as the Messiah in 2015 and 2019. Heck! In 2019, you teamed up with Dayo to found Nairaland's premier virtual BMC strip club with you as the numero uno stripper. Everything is documented on Nairaland. Take responsibility! |
OasisX:But Lagos isn't even top 10 on the Ease of Doing Business Index. Not even top 15. https://punchng.com/gombe-sokoto-top-ease-of-doing-business-anambra-7th-ondo-8th-lagos-20th/ Bureaucratic redtape, over taxation and irregularity of taxes and many others make business unfavourable, agberoism, and many other issues cause business owners having to scale more hurdles than their counterparts in some other parts of the country and the world to succeed. - Akwa Ibom - 4th and number 1 in Southern Nigeria. - Anambra - 7th. - Ondo - 8th. . . . . Lagos - 20th. It is what it is. |
Melvyn11:Thr sweeping generalisation is untrue. Not all Niger Delta states have insecurity issues. Akwa Ibom is safe. We don't do militancy and kidnapping. Our capital, cities, and oil-producing communities are safe. Expatriates of all races and oil-sector workers live and move about freely in Uyo, Eket, Ikot Abasi, and Ibeno. Compare reports of violent crimes from all over the country to ours and you'd see the difference. Akwa Ibom has been the safest for years even during the time of Akpabio, and even safer now. Security is the one sector nobody matches Gov. Udom, not even the FGN. |
DontBullshitMe:I agree, they are - they are despicable acts. But this is Nigeria. The rule of law is selective so a person who goes about needlessly triggering and taunting whole groups of people (tribes or religious groups) puts himself in harm's way. This is the same Nigeria where people have been beheaded for not agreeing with Biafra on the streets of the SE or shot dead for opposing "freedom-fighting" militants approach to a semblance of equity in the creeks of the Niger Delta. Now imagine what their reactions would be if you call their ancestral lands a no man's land... Exactly what you're thinking! But you want the indigenous owners of Lagos to be divine and not react like humans - when we won't tolerate it ourselves. If you won't eat it, don't serve it. |
DontBullshitMe:I don't have to approve of it. I would describe it over and over again because it's the truth. I'm not here to soften the blows of reality. And Nairaland isn't the first online forum/social media platform I have stated this. Anybody in the know would tell you that'd be the exact reaction of Calabar South boys to trying to erase their ancestry. Even I, an Ibibio, won't dare say it. If I ever try calling Awka or Owerri a no man's land, you and I know I'd be dismembered there and then on the streets. We all know this. Don't dish out what you won't tolerate. Shelve your gaslighting. It doesn't work on everyone. |
Donjazet2:Just because America, as liberal as it is, is called the "land of immigrants" doesn't make it less of the land of Native Americans. 6 centuries later after immigration and generations of families and more yet Native Americans still have a special place and are recognised as the original owners of America. It's why they have protected statuses (in most parts). In your post from yesteryears I quoted, you pointedly asked anyone who refuses to accept Lagos is a no man's land to cry you a river and keep wailing. You were taunting them. They are even nice. Dude, for the umpteenth time I repeat, Calabar was a former FCT, but if you ever dare insinuate it's a no man's land, you'd have body parts littered along the streets, especially in Calabar South. You don't have to take my word for it - ask any non-indigeous person you know to utter that on the streets of Calabar then give us a feedback in 24 or 48 hours. ![]() |
Amigoss:You've been wailing all month about tribalism but at little ruffling of feathers, you resort to Akpan in the hopes that it'd stick as a tribal slur. I am Akpan. Unrepentantly so. Stated so since my first day on this forum. Akpan doesn't have to call Lagos a "No man's land" because he's proud of his roots. You call Lagos a no man's land because you are too intellectually incompetent to develop your ancestral lands and covet what traditionally belongs to others. See? Hopefully the next time you utter such triggering nonsense the natives offer you up to some dust-covered sigidi in appeasement. Featherbrained mongrel! |
LILTJAY:When you mature into TJay instead if being LilTjay, you'd understand how the world works better. For now, enjoy your baseless dancing on Twitter with teenage girls. |
Emaprince:In a free-for-all and everything moving so fast, anybody can catch strays, even unintended ones. I realized that when he explained what he intended and toned down on my vitriol without going personal but he obviously saw it as an opportunity to prove himself worthy of captaining the MEND team. Gloves off at that point. And if he wants to keep going, I'm game. |
Amigoss:You have dyslexia to begin with. That's why you spelt "Amigos", a Spanish word, as " Amigoss". And it's "trash", not " thrash". If you spent more time perusing the pages of a grammar text instead of plotting your next MENDevouz, you'd know better. Amidunce! |
Amigoss:If you looked good, you'd post your owm pictures too, and it's too risky to post stolen pictures because you'd be found out by the array of detectives here. Nobody would even touch you as a baby looking like an orangutan from Elon Musk's test NeuraLink labs. You've been mentioning private parts, lips and other such references which would freak normal men to evade you. You are typing out your fantasy. Little wonder you are of the DonJ Army. Damn Asari Dokubo - you are the Commander of MEND. On this side we stay real. We don't post stolen pictures. May a thousand drugged bonobo monkeys feed off your flesh! |
Amigoss:Alright. Go steal another man's pictures to post. That seems to be trend amongst your ilk. Accursed progeny of a deranged hermit! |
Amigoss:Dumbo, since 2016 my signature and stance has always been openness and transparency. What I won't post on Facebook, I won't do here. You are a clown. Freckle-faced hermit. Accursed leprechaun! A deviant who is so riled up in his twisted sexuality, he wants to see another man lick his lips! God! Little wonder you are the Commander of the Don J army. Getting pulverized from every body orifice there is is your greatest high. MENDigoss! |
Joezinho:I don't use any so if I recommend any it's not from personal experience. But if you don't have a dry skin, you already have the sebum needed to moisturize your hair so aid it by keeping it clutter-free. Wash out sweat, comb it out, and just visit the rest room to sprinkle water on it if you feel it's too dry. A few seconds. Too dry means itchy. Any moisturizer should do, but I grow and keep mine natural. Asides that, it's just genes - I'm hirsute. |
Amigoss:Pained? There's literally a video on my page of me speaking. Go feast on it. Since it hurts you, this is me. Now I dare you to post yours? No? Can't find any to steal? I thought so too. Amidunce! [Picture retracted] |
Theflint1:Nobody does but pockets do, online and offline. Just as not all APC Lagos people go about tagging GRV a "Chinedu" or parroting Igbos want to take over Lagos. The ppblem is, both in the LP and APC camps, we allow the extremists access to the megaphones whatever they soundboard unchecked from either camps becoming the focal messaging. You want to call out the APC for the violence but refuse any attempt at introspection even amongst the LP faithfuls? That's hypocrisy. You can call out both. You won't die and the Earth won't tilt off its axis. |
Amigoss:I'm the one who has had my pictures, details and other specific details up time and again . Your comrade compilicit in triggering is the one stealing pictures and making false claims. Guess who's insecure. The joke is on you! |
