Happy birthday to Peter 'Selfless' Obi! I loved you from years before you became the national face of our country's yearnings. I admire you for standing in the light. Thank you for your timely injection of hope into an otherwise disenchanting system. Every unveiling of your many layers of people-focused aspirations and antecedence validates every affinity I and millions of Nigerians have for you. Cheers to the yesteryears, to now, and the promise of better things to come, the turbulence regardless.

Would the news publishers also pay Meta for traffic to their news websites gotten from these social media sites? If anything, there's a reason why there are platforms like Subtrack. And by news publishers, how would we define this? AIT is news publisher in Nigeria, for example, but gets relatively low Facebook interaction, but random gossip columns get more interactions than these outlets so who gets to be paid? News publishers would have to include a large demography then and even at that, it'd be interesting to see how the payment structure works. YouTube is doing this with videos so, well, maybe. |
logik29:I searched before making the comment. The Facebook page has 2 likes with no post (which isn't right for an MVP post-launch). There's only one mention of the product in Facebook Google Search results. In in-app (Facebook) search results when filtered to posts, it returns no mention of it, instead there's a Bolt ad inserted. It has the advantage of being a generalist product so micro-influencing would help. Even people who get >300 post reactions over time and spread would help raise awareness. So, yes, my comment was informed by prior research. ![]() |
Charpell:Asides Nairaland, I haven't seen your ads anywhere else. Have you tried micro-influencing on Facebook? Your product is a generalist B2C so it'd gain traction. |
tensazangetsu20:ALX is training 40,000 people who want jobs. The SMART ones acquire these skills then seek to offer solutions to everyday people and businesses with these skills. The unemployment is high everywhere else too. While you learn overly-specialized skills, learn generalist technical skills too. If you're a web developer, there's no reason you shouldn't learn visual design skills like graphic, product, and UI design. Take copywriting courses too to learn conversion copywriting and SEO (at least fundamentally). How much is a standard website, for example? How much when you add those add-on services? How much when you are on a retainer by the client for a digital brand management plan? I'd rather not go into personal specifics but I do these things so it's not theory. Acquire specialized and generalist technical skills too. As a web dev, I do sales copy and visual designs too so there's reoccurring services with brands I onboard. I'm still crafting out systems to take in more and keep them as re-occuring payments. --- It's applicable to cybersecurity too. The essence of tech should be solving problems. There are everyday problems around you you can solve which aren't always shiny with media fanfare with tech and get laid for such. |
OasisX:It's fair when you don't outrightly re-write results like we saw in Rivers and other states. It's fair when the INEC Chairman doesn't override the Electoral Act to say results declared by a State REC are final and override what's captured on the IReV. These are the illegalities challenged by the aggrieved parties. You dared them to go to court, yet you thrash and trash the process daily. The illegalities are being laid bare for posterity sake and a thousand pictures with NOI won't wash the irregularities away. |
Spy360:She shouldn't have dignified them with a response. Asides GEJ, NOI was the most attacked member of his team. They trivialised her degrees and accomplishments, and everything she represented. They even kicked against Buhari's tacit support for her WTO bid. She became WTO Chief in spite of them. Yet they turn around to seek validation from her? She should have ignored them like she ignored commenting on Nigerian topical political issues since 2015. |
tensazangetsu20:Well, most techies are doing exactly what people with traditional skills are doing - trying to a get a job. Offer value by solving problems then see how it'd improve. There are opportunities even in your neighbourhood your tech skills can solve. If you're a web developer, partner with a copywriter who does SEO and an online bidder with social media traction to build websites and manage digital presence for brand. Pitch it so the brands see what they'd gain. The remote jobs should just be an extra source of income. |
If the Corn Vanguard believe the Presidential election results declared are above board, why then are they seeking validation from everyone of repute there is? You want validation from the same Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala whom you spent 8 years tearing down while appraising Buhari (whom you've now thrown under the bus)? |
Theflint1:She just addressed the issue on Twitter with her account. You need to read the ethic slurs in the comment section and even foreigners getting in to moderate our global show of shame and tribalism. |
Anyone who read the very voluminous Afghan files released by Wikileaks years ago from documents of U.S. military would realize how the U.S. bombed and killed whole settlements of children and women in the Middle East. The UN didn't bat an eyelid instead it was complicit in hunting down the men who exposed the genocides - Julian Asange and Edward Snowden. |
aieromon:SANship has mostly gone to shit. No SAN since Gani has been as vocal as Festus Keyamo on national issues in recent years, but we saw him paint black as white before our very eyes. So because a SAN said it, it's final? The law isn't ambiguous on this one. No Latin phrase - just English in its simplest form. You don't have to defend everything. |
Ogene001:Your username is Ogene so it's obvious which region you hail from. Mention your state of origin and let's compare it to Akwa Ibom based on: - Functional manufacturing industries - Agencies - Roads - Security - Power -Airline So many others. Not a single state in your region can match Akwa Ibom. None! |
bizhop01:Nigerian VCs and others in the VC sector focus on funding FinTechs and now AI techs while relegating brilliant portfolios to the background. They ignore EdTech and others. Most Nigerian and African Edtechs have gone underground or have to pivot to keep afloat. The only other one getting some recognition is EnergyTech which some merge with agrotech by pulling heart strings of foreign VCs with keywords like "clean energy", " zero emission ", " climate" blah blah, even if it's untrue. |
Ihebu4chelsea: Ihebu4chelsea:You painted everyone from the South East as scammers yet accused another poster of being tribalistic by filtering the label to Peter Obi who is also Igbo. It's like Blacks denigrating the black race as less developed and sub-human then baying for blood when people of other races soundboard same claims. Make it make sense. |
larride:Oh! Osinbajo facilitated the African Development Bank releasing $613 million for digital creators and tech startups in Nigeria's tech ecosystem. It should have been released in 2019 but Buhari pettily removed Prof. Osinbajo from the NEC so it stalled but Prof. still made sure it came to light in March, 2023. The fund was to be overseen by the Nigeria Startup Act Advisory Council (which also has the founders of Flutterwave and PayStack on it). LASG and Osun State Government seemed like the only ones who had seriously plans to access it but Prof. gone means nobody is really pushing it. I've been keenly following since last September but nothing much. Nigeria's tech growth would suffer a bit without Osinbajo. I knew and said it. |
Larride, now that I remember and since you're also within the space, what's happened to I-DICE? There's been no new information or any reference to it since March 17 after Osinbajo inaugurated it. None by any media outlet, mainstream or reclusive ones either. Almost seems like I was spot when I kept insisting since last year that such government-backed tech growth would stall without Osinbajo. It's already happening. |
ShaqFu:My pont to an extent. As long as she's well-behaved, intelligent, and passably attractive, she's no lesser than the girl with those artificialities. I mean, for those who pay for women, what's the rationale behind paying one woman 800% the amount you bed the other one with? Because she uses heavier wigs and make-up? Doesn't make sense. |
These crumb-seekers should be more concerned about the implementation Host Communities Development Trust Fund in the Petroleum Information Act for us who hail from the Niger Delta which would help develop the more affected communities but, no, you'd rather go the way of the selfish freedom-fighters before you asking for crumbs. |
Take away the wig, eyelashes, sexually-suggestive clothings, faux sense of importance, and most females you all drool over are basic at best. Knowing this would prevent you from simping or debasing yourself in your interactions with the supposed high-end ones. |
BlueRayDick:To get into and stay in the spotlight in Nigeria, you have to debase yourself and dumb down. Be happy-go-lucky, engage in fickle brain-cells-depleting arguments, and keep going at it with everything which isn't mentally-stimulating. There'd be more Hilda Baci's. The Anambra girl who scored the highest in JAMB has been forgotten, the Fulani-Hausa lad who converts petrol vehicles to electric ones has been forgotten. Most can't even recall their names and faces. What have the state governors done for these two? Yet Hilda Baci is getting endorsements, meeting with state governors (including mine), and industry leaders, and cheered on for dressing almost nude. A young Nigerian from the same Akwa Ibom got recognised by the BBC for creating the world's most realistic prosthetic limbs in 2020. Good lad. Smart guy. But what support did his state government give him? Has the Governor met him? Hilda has gone from obscurity to the limelight in weeks when other more deserving people who've created actual impact are mostly ignored. There'd be more Hilda Baci's. Let a thousand more cook since that seems to be the most guaranteed way young people get recognition (including BB9ja), let more do it. Hilda Baci isn't special (even if she might be my kin). |
cococandy:Dyslexic gynohumanoid, she's 18 and an adult. The article says so. Dimwitted paint-face-smeared wastepipe lost the plot then you switched to insinuations of paedophilia to gaslight. At 18, you were up to a thousand raunchy things in Owerri. 18 is the age of adulthood globally. Knuckledheaded newt! |
cococandy:The joke is on you. Everyone who trolled were right - she fled home to have freedom to live with a 'friend'. How does it feel to have your virtue-signaling shoved in your face like mud? Feminazi! |
Ronaldo723:It turns out the guy you were berating was right. She left home to go live with a 'friend'. |
christejames:It's more of a gang culture which needs to be systematically eroded than thuggery. The potentials of Rivers State is too enormous to have it marred by the brazen display of gang culture. I think it can be corrected, but it begins with rooting out the likes of Wike and his cronies from piloting the affairs of the state and LGAs. The posturing of the Governor who is the state's CSO goes a long way in curbing these ills. |
February 26, 2023 a day after the Presidential Election, and the trolling when the results (real and altered) began trickling in. Obi is a Shukwudi. No? No more trolling? We'd all learn! DissTroy:Fuel price hiked to 300% in less than 2 days of assumption of office. Let the trolling fuel your way around now. |
larride:(The sometimes greedy) Udom was the SSG then. Akpabio made him the final port of call for a lot of state decisions, including financial. Akpabio was careful since he's not from the oil-producing axis and my senatorial district, and of a fringe Ibibio ethnicity. Even as Governor, Udom almost made us lose the new Federal University of Technology in Akwa Ibom because he wanted it located in his LGA. It took threats of ensuring his candidates would lose at the polls for him to let it be. Asides outside influences, he's the number one reason the Ibom Deep Seaport is coming at a slower pace than envisaged. He wants the entrance situated in his LGA even though there's a cheaper natural deep harbour at the proposed site. These are some of the reasons I don't support Udom but I respect his personal and public service achievements. |
OasisX:Dangote's refinery was even being considered to be situated in Akwa Ibom. Udom got greedy, insisting it had to be moved from a prime location like Eket-Ibeno axis to his remote LGA, Onna (just like he was trying to do with Ibom Deep Seaport and was fought to a standstill). ------ Yes, he's right. It's one of the companies I was referring to here almost 2 months ago. DissTroy: DissTroy: |
If there was any kind of accountability in this country, we should probe all governors past and present since 1999 (particularly Niger-Delta governors). Every single one of them. In 2013 alone, Akwa Ibom and Rivers got $1.7 and $1.3 billion respectively from the FAAC. Almost half the budget of Ghana for that year. Higher in some years. Forget the FG, I've always been more interested in the accountability of state governments. The amounts earmarked per kilometer of road in Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Delta are crazy, but most people don't read the fine details of these inflated contracts. |
Except you aren't on the wider social media. Your Facebook location? Your phone number? What would be the search results for your name if you are business owner? During the interview process, wouldn't you have to state where you are located? If you are caught lying, wouldn't that be self-defeating and reinstating why the trust level for Nigerians is low? What we should mobilize for (for remote workers) is more Nigerians, Africans and acquaintances in these remote work cities and countries to recommend us or vouch for us. They know Nigerians are very skilled - they just have a problem with trusting us. If there are people whom they know who vouch for our trustworthiness, you wouldn't need to lie or falsify your location. |
ShaqFu:I've never been committed to any woman who didn't spend on me too like I do on her. I understand her purchasing power might be lower than mine, but she has to spend on me too. You can't just keep demanding without giving. It's another reason men must avoid unemployed women. You shouldn't even gift her sex just like that 'cause if the roles were reverse, she'd think you beneath her and not worthy of her body. I want to be 'spoilt' too. The thing is, the women who spend know they are rare so would tell you, "You think it's every woman who spends on her man too like me? I'm rare." Well, maybe. But if she leaves, you'd find others same way you found her. Just be a valuable man and demand she does her part too. I'm no Prince Charming - no sweeping her off her feet. Play your part too, madam. |
Except your financial situation picks up, your woman would have contempt for you when you financial power reduces. If you are self-made, before deciding to marry, for only for the woman who was with you during the forging process. No, not just with you but aided your growth. Too many men settle for less, offering comfort and commitment on a platter of gold to women who'd obviously not do same when the roles are switched. Even if you have the financial power, some months pretend there's a downturn in business then take note of her attitudinal change. Most of you buy expensive gifts for women who buy you just singlets and have never taken you out on dates. Women spend on what and who they care for. Commitment is a weapon like women have weaponised sex - use it. Give and withdraw as rewards and punishment. Giving her too much easily is something men always regret. Always. ---- And OP, if she's behaving the way she is - she's being goaded by her mother to leave you. Heck! She's already sleeping with other men while hoping she irritates you enough to leave her so she can play the victim's card of the abandoned wife who had to pick herself up. Leave her still. She's opened her legs for another man. |
