Well this year's OSS Scholarship winners is unusually high (an average of 5 each for PhD and MSc). In previous years, it is usually an average of 4 per state for MSc and 1 to 2 per state for PhD.

The increase could be attributed to the fact that there is arrangement and partnership of free tuition schools in Brasil, China and Germany. Some awardees will be sent to this schools or will be told to seek for admission in there according to ranking. Attend the orientation programme to know your fate.

they would take care of everything. You will be given accommodation in a top rated hotel including feeding provisions.

Did u apply for LSS or were you converted to LSS. Tell PTDF with proof of payment. I thought you were granted AGIP postgraduate scholarship in UK already. Recommend someone in your state who wrote LSS but was not successful your LSS scholarship.

Besides, Voice234 won the LSS scholarship and gave us info with proof. It may be that information was passed to them. Don't let emotions get over us. Rant in the proper channel

They knew nobody, no info was leaked by snapnet as regard to scores. Those dudes were guessing their percentages based on how well they did on the test. You are right. Most are just speculating just like in PTDF thread.

Moreso, it is impossible to have 62.5%. You can only have 62.2% ( 28÷45) . The exam is unfair to we experience guys. Thought it is going to be course based but it is well

How about stipend? Is it only tuition fee?

Of course they pay stipend and your tuition fee. The amount of stipend will be stated in your award letter. PTDF will spend whatever school fees of your local school and it won't be transferred to your stipend. That is y I advise u guys to go for d best in d country and not d regular unilag, lasu.

Same goes to OSS. Choose high ranked school fees that is expensive such as imperial, Manchester, MIT. Don't choose half baked low rank OSS schools unless u are told to choose partner school in Brazil, Germany, China and France

It is really not easy to be a OSS Scholar. The list is ready but they still have not contacted the successfuls. Is there a reason behind this?

Let us wait till tomorrow since people here are saying the list will be published September 1st.

Admission application closes tomorrow (Aug 31) in AUST, Abuja. Form is N10,000 for Nigerians and 50 dollars for foreigners.

AUST only offers MSc and PhD program and requires 2.1 graduates as a minimum for entry.

They also partner with RSIF PASET to offer PhD scholarship unfortunately application for this year has closed (July 24).

According to a student in the institute who also just won PTDF LSS, the following was deduced:


"1. All the Institutes are specialized in various areas so they should find out what the want to do first before choosing. 


2. Some Institutes give internship placements(not a must o)  but they help. Like mine. We are currently on internship. So it's 8 months course work 3 months internship before defense and project . you know not all centers go on internship. I m currently working which brings me to my 3rd.


3. What experience u re looking for. Like someone said. Same Lecturers virtually teach all Institutes except some core courses. The job I just got, was due to both  experience and the knowledge I got from the Institute. 


4. I ll stop at duration. You probably know this. COE is 1yr 6months. Others are a year. So it matters too."

Admission in those schools is competitive. You will write exams and sometimes interview hence the need for other Nigerian universities.

@all. It is advisable to apply for LSS if one badly needs a postgraduate degree. However try to secure admission in those oil and gas sponsored school that PTDF partners with to enjoy high quality education that is lacking in most Nigerian schools and avoid strike.

In some of the schools, you have opportuntinity to intern in oil and gas companies and from there you can find your way to employment if you are good.

In last year outcome, over 65% of applicants shortlisted for LSS MSc test and PhD interviews combined eventually got LSS Scholarship.

Got the email too. I'm considering IPS uniport and Shell Centre of Excellence uniben for MSc in Petroleum geoscience.

I also don't have admission yet and I'm yet to apply to either of these schools. Would it be wise to include in the ptdf form that I haven't secured admission while still hoping to apply to IPS or COE uniben for admission into this year's program? Is ptdf likely to make arrangements to accommodate this?

And which do you think is better? IPS or CoE uniben.

you can also try centre of excellence, OAU professional Masters programme that last for 12 months. They also have partnership with PTDF. School fess is about one million

For LSS scholars , I will advise you to go for top schools in which PTDF has partnership with as stated by Voice234.
Most of this schools are being run by oil and gas companies with no strike. School fees is above million which PTDF will pay.

Do not go for OAU, Unilag e.t.c
