@DeniseKendricks. usqoh is right . Additionally, during the orientation, you will find people going to same school as yours. 3 to 4 of you can combine together to rent a family house instead of individually. A family house usually have 3 to 4 rooms and it cheaper to rent at the long run 800 to 1000 pounds. If 4 rooms, instead of each of you paying 350 individually, u pay 250 pounds. By this, you have saved 100 pounds about 48,000 naira per month. Also, when you stay together, you won't miss home much. And u can combine money to cook Nigeria food at your leisure. You can also help one another in case PTDF don't pay some of your allowance or in academics. You can share info on work available together to earn more money. That is how we made money. As usqoh advised, don't get carried away buying car or living in school accommodation which is very expensive and no to flamboyant life. Some of my freinds are now broke and don't even have money to process foreign immigration visa. Dont misuse this opportunity. |
I just hope the rumour flying around that the list will be out today is true. So we can forge and plan ahead. If successful, we can meet together eventually during orientation forming unbreakable ties now and d future. So we can assist and help one another at home and the foreign land as the case may be to be our brothers keeper. Above all, we will strategise how to fulfill the main objective of the scheme when we eventually come back from studies or studies here giving back to our people and the nation at large. With independent personal financial resource, quality education, experience and the right connection and skills, this will be achieved through strategic thinking and proper planning whilst eliminating nepotism. The real change of the land will definitely come through different means and you all will witness it someday. |
@seun, Lalaclasticla kindly put on front page |
akatovic1:meelerh is right. Award letters are being typed now but not for the hopefuls. It is being generated for NYSC Awardees, last year scholars who deferred and past Pressid scholars going for PHD. You need award letter for visa application in lieu of bank statement. Besides, before receiving award letter, you must have obtained proof of funding letter from PTDF, CAS and submitted your admission letter. |
Mballowa:Wow. Can't you guys argue without any derisory remarks. Must you always fight and abuse in any argument. Why turning this into tribalism and playing victim card? Who is talking about First class here? Can't you reason like an intellectual for once and deal in peace. So because I disagree with your notion and argument, based on this, it means I automatically hate you and your tribe. See me see trouble o!. I don't need to argue with you because it changes nothing. Nothing changes the TRUTH. |
Mballowa:Don't advise me on what to comment on. What is true should be said. I don't care if anyone is hurt or not because I am only human after all. The truth must be said! I am not a coward |
jelani01:Common man. Don't be rude and dont allow emotions control u. Do you even know my tribe? Who told you I dont acknowledge intelligent Northerners? Please change your mentality, argue and think like an educated person. Dont play the tribalism card here. You can go to the politics section and do this. The main reason why PRESSID was scrapped is because so many northern candidates failed and did not make the list. There is nothing like federal character in Pressid, only d best gets it irrespective of your state. Since Nigeria governance is based on federal character, hence it had to be scrapped for peace. http://www.peoplesdailyng.com/alleged-bias-reps-stop-presidential-scholarship-awards/ https://scholarships.myschool.com.ng/news/14957/arewa-consultative-forum-condemns-nucrsquos-presidential-scholarship-list.html http://www.peoplesdailyng.com/pressid-sanctity-of-the-constitution-must-be-preserved-house-education-cttee-chair/ https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/53270-presidential-scholarship-how-northern-candidates-were-excluded |
1stPolymath:Nice one. The bad governance had made youths to be brainwashed thinking this is a favour. All countries in the world send their students on scholarship. I had different developed counties as my classmates with sole aim of learning new ideas and developing their countries further. After their studies, all students went home except we Nigerians and Ghanians huzzling to earn more money because no where to be fixed. Scholarships is very good if there is a good structure. All scholars should b given employment in universities, agencies and research institution to impact Nigerians and the government should be thankful for this. Graduating scholars certificates and transcripts should be sent to the Government who gave scholarship and returned to scholars when they report home. That is d norm. However, the reverse is d case in Nigerians whereby 80% of the scholars are unemployed and have forgotten what they learnt. The main reason y Nigerian government are giving scholarship is to give back to their godfathers and achieve federal character through this means. This is y Pressid was curbed since only d highest ranking candidates gets it thereby Northern states were not included due to their poor performance therefore scrapped. Our leaders are not ready to make Nigeria better. |
nonso84:Why do our people like to be 'spiritually' colonized by foreigners? Why can not we use our brains? God bless Nigeria. nice one. Common lets speak Chinese |
peterayoola7:Bro. Forget all this permutation or combination. What you need now is to check if u made the list. @all. Sorry dat my info that d list will b out last upper week was incorrect. I got that info from a PTDF staff that it will be released because it was ready. And here we go again, last week d list did not show too. Guess something is wrong somewhere and hope it would be resolved for our favour perhaps it could b because LSS and OSS stuff increase and decrease adjustments. |
meelerh:madam. I never mentioned 6 months. I said a month |
meelerh:PTDF will not only help you to process and pay for your visa but also pay for your flights. During my term, they also gave us three months allowance plus other stuff before we travelled. But I heard last year, the allowance were not paid before the scholars travel. They had to use their personal money for living allowance for about a month before PTDF paid 6 months allowances to them probably due to TSA. |
TODAY NA TODAY, WE GO DEY LA MMAYA |
no one should apply. They are scammers. Here is where guys from last year got them. The owner of the site is from Ajegunle claiming USA https://www.nairaland.com/3116839/fresh-graduates-recruitment-evaton-oil |
usqoh:a freind who won full scholarship just confirmed to me that he used his WAEC |
I actually support this. The list should have been released by now according to the schedule. I hope it hasn't been hijacked. In fact I just sent a mail to "info@ptdf.gov.ng" : "Dear Sir, I write to enquire when the PTDF successful lists will be out. Please our schools are on our necks. I will be glad if the successful lists can be released on (Monday, August 14, 2017). Thank you" If we can copy and send to the e-mail address. It could hasten them to release the list on Monday. Do not underestimate your power. |
This week, we will all know out fate. Whether positive or negative, persevere and stay focus till achieve your dreams. Dont give up |
The results is ready however it would be officially made public next week. They are still working on some likely local institutions that could accommodate the number of local scholars appointed for their MSc/PhD. |
@all. Apply to top schools in UK or US for your MSc. Don't b lazy. Admission is pretty fast in some of dis top schools in d UK. Apart from d competitive edge in d UK, u can get job opportunities too all over d world. e.g if u are a graduate in some engineering discipline in top schools in UK, u can get work visa in Australia scheme. If your university is in d top 200 in d world, u are eligible to go to Holland to go to look for or work there about a year. If you get a high skilled job, u could b retained. Further more, you can easily get full PhD scholarships in Asia and Middle east schools. @all. try to come back home after your studies and give back to Nigeria. Help the poor/needy with your finance. Or help give advice or teach selflessly what u have learnt while looking for job. The sustainability of this scholarship depends on your output. After this, if u see no breakthrough, then u can execute your plan B. Ensure you graduate with at least Merit in your institution. Don't disgrace Nigeria. |
dingbang:wrong. it submits automatically. |
Humayrah:don't tell me u didn't attend d interview because u are waiting for personal invite. You could have just called or e-mailed them |
DeniseKendricks:Have a joyous day bro. Enjoy |
Continued....., e.g a freind came in with two admission letter. One in a top PTDF recommended university with no scholarship while the other is a lowly ranked, non-affiliated PTDF university but with free tuition. PTDF asked him, "Would you like to attend d free tuition university whereby we will only provide living allowance". Of course, he said yes. 4. Be composed during d interview and ensure eye contact with d panellist. There is also a special mark for those who got distinction in their MSc too as well as those whose research proposal pinpoints on Niger Delta, oil and gas industry in Nigeria and those who answered PTDF question correctly. Overall, God/ALLAH is in control of those who eventually wins it. I wish u all success. Follow my facebook page often (http://facebook.com/dmainmanfoundation). I will b writing on ways of obtaining scholarship soon. Watch out. Bye for now |
SUMMARY The scholarship scheme for this session has been concluded. The following could b useful for those who intend to apply next year: ON MSC EXAMS a. Read this thread and my suggestions on past questions and useful test websites that I posted few weeks prior to d examination. Luckily, some questions category were copied from these sites. b. During the period of examination, do not tell anyone the question nor answer. Do not even tell anyone d question source. Do not post on nairaland during this period to give another person an edge which could even affect u. I love neutrality. You can post this when d exam is over in all centres. c. Do not panic and choose what u didn't prepare for because people are saying a particular field is difficult. Just do what u are prepared for. ON PHD a. Those who are lecturers have upper hand in obtaining the scholarship as well as those working in d petroleum industry. Hence, d reason of asking your employment status with proof. b. Know your research proposal and about PTDF e.g mandates, vision, mission, executive secretary. e.t.c c. Try and get free tuition admission. Countries like Germany and Finland offer free PhD tuition. Some USA or Canadian school can offer free tuition too. Continued....... |
Antonym:It could count in favour |
Fm4real06:There is still a chance if u score very high in GRE. Numerical: 160 Verbal: 160 |
DSSHQ:Lol |
omojehovah:It has changed in both circumstances. e.g The minimum living allowance in London and outside London set by UKVI immigration was increased recently hence PTDF had to increase the allowance it gives to meet UKVI immigration requirement for visa purposes. The money u guys received now was more than previous. |
otukpoyam:There will surely b a significant increase in LSS scholars. I was not a LSS scholar so I do not know how d money is broken down. |
eyinjuege:but some top UK schools insist u must write IELTS. UK universities no longer accept TOEFL for student visa purposes |
MamaOO:U really answered well but u are wrong in some cases. Note the following corrections to your statement: a. TOEFL is used for immigration purpose in both Australia and Newzealand b. USA accept IELTS |
