Awolowo and Zik are dead, stop trying you future to dead people! In the 90s and early 2000s, Yorubas were the biggest advocates of restructuring while Igbos talked about seccession. Now Igbos want restructuring,
something Yorubas wanted for long but some Yorubas leaders like Tinubu and Osinbajo started shying away from it in order not to offend the fulanis who has opposed it since the beginning of time!
Kapeter:
during creation. Awolowo wanted seccession clause, zik doesn't so what makes you think that the ibos and Yorubas can now one point at a time have same agenda that Osinbajo and Yorubas should supoort restructuring just because you ibo suddenly wants it?
Politics › Re: Open Letter To My Yoruba Brothers by DMerciful(m): 12:04am On Dec 29, 2019
You can see you're just complaining without any possible solution being suggested that's realistic. In your mind democracy started through Abiola in 1999 but you forgot we were practicing democracy btw 1960 -1966 and 1979-1983 before the Bubu you all supported truncated it.Igbos want restructuring but if not possible then seccession. Question is what do Yorubas want?
Osaze007:
Let ohaneze take the lead
Yorubas have led the fight for democracy through Abiola and subsequently 1999

Igbos should lead the fight for restructuring

You dont have public decorum. You shouldn't be here
Sonnyboom:
I do not have a feel of what Yoruba should feel I simply understand not Yoruba can be as explicitly foolish as you have chosen to be n I stand on my word that you are not Yoruba. It matter little if you are cursed or simply a dead brain you can never ever be Yoruba I swear in the grave of even your father.
Politics › Re: Open Letter To My Yoruba Brothers by DMerciful(m): 11:48pm On Dec 28, 2019
Zik did not do anything inimical to regionalism,
Ironsi did so stop dragging in zik just for unnecessary argument. Ironsi was military and no igbo voted for him and as such cannot be said to have Igbos mandate. Igbos supported GEJ because we have common attributes of freedom and liberalism. GEJ initiated the confab whose resolution was meant to be ratified by the NASS but more time was not given to him. You must understand that political time is longer due to negotiations unless it's a military govt where decrees are pronounced by the supreme military council. We all know that Nigeria made the most progress understand regionalism, you are calling for it but the Yorubas cannot do it alone. But your despise for the Igbos will not allow you forge a unity of purpose towards achieving this goal. You want regionalism but still complaining why GEJ dint do it instead of you to be championing the required cooperation that will bring it to fruition.
Mind you as long as one Nigeria exist, the whole country belongs equally to all Nigerians!
Kapeter:
Jonathan, an adopted ibo son was there for 6 years, why did he failed to restructure the country for his peoples' benefit? Osinbajo a vice president is whom you wait on to restructure the country for you or Tinubu because he is presently the senate president. Both zik and ironsi were fully representing the ibos just like pa Awo and Ladoke fully represent Yorubas. It's ideology that's embedded in our genes, you'll see that till today Yorubas still believe in their lands over any other and many like almost 90% Yorubas still clamour for regionalism. So it can be said that both zik and ironsi reflected the true genes of the ibos in this regard.
Politics › Re: Open Letter To My Yoruba Brothers by DMerciful(m): 11:30pm On Dec 28, 2019
A president cannot do more than 10% when it has to do with restructuring. Ohaneze and the entire Igbo population will charge their representatives to do the needful in NASS, Afenifere, Tinubu, Osinbajo will charge Yoruba representatives in NASS, Edwin Clark, Pandef will charge South South representatives in NASS ..that's the way but when people starts to shy away but blaming dead Ironsi, just know they are being deceitful!
Osaze007:
Why did GEJ not deliver restructuring
Politics › Re: Open Letter To My Yoruba Brothers by DMerciful(m): 11:16pm On Dec 28, 2019
Ironsi is dead and cannot do anything. Tinubu and Osinbajo are alive but refused to support Ohaneze and Afenifere with regards to restructuring!
Sonnyboom:
So in other words like the bigoted igbos on NL Tinubu n Osibanjo should be blame for lack of restructuring cos they said governance is all that they need n the lunatic Ironsi that banished regionalism should be adored ?
Politics › Re: The Shortest Route To Restructuring Of Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 11:09pm On Dec 28, 2019
Unfortunately, the constitution itself is illegal because the Illegitimate military govt handed it to us. This is not the people's constitution of 1963! We should have a sovereign national conference and get a new constitution or go back to 1963 constitution or breakup afterall marriage is not by force
Afamed:
Keep quiet village headmaster. Restructuring comes with constitutional amendment. It has to go through the National assembly.Just the same way the president can not grant any referudum without the Senate approval
Politics › Re: The Shortest Route To Restructuring Of Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 10:58pm On Dec 28, 2019
Exactly like USA.
myobjective:
Please if I may ask, can you itemize the things you want the Nigeria state to change or restructured?

When you talk about these changes do you mean, we should go back to the structure in place before 1966, or as six geo-political zones or each state act as semi independent country as it is being done in USA ?

Because i don't understand the part where you say '' citing Abuja and Lagos in the south-east and South-south ''
Politics › Re: The Shortest Route To Restructuring Of Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 10:56pm On Dec 28, 2019
How can you say some states are not viable when clans and communities have been existing for thousands of years? This is cowardice!
myobjective:
This i just the obvious truth. Nigerians east of river are delusional about their importance and resources in their domain ( mineral, Agricultural and human resources). The truth is majority of Nigeria state are not economically viable to stand on their own, couple with our materialistic culture resulting from free crude oil money, the elite and the political class know this, reasons known of them are passionate about restructuring like the common man in the street.

The reality we found our self in Nigeria required that we need to change our current system to a more efficient one. We need to look at our ever increasing population, our poor technical an engineering education and ever increasing poverty rate especially in the North. Nigeria is currently sitting on a time bomb waiting to explode if we don't address all our social problem.

The truth still remain that the core North is the most backward region and major drawing back to whatever reform that Nigeria needs to unleash her potential as an industrial giant, we have all what it takes to be among the top leading economics in the world. We have abundant natural gas, fairly educated and highly enterprising citizens, very arable land mass, adequate surface water and the market. What we lack has been leadership owing to years of Northern Military juntas with nothing upstairs running the affairs of the nation and the politics of sentiment that end us with clueless Jonathan and now brainless Buhari.
Politics › Re: Open Letter To My Yoruba Brothers by DMerciful(m): 10:45pm On Dec 28, 2019
You wrote an open letter so its public already. Secondly, running for office in areas that are not your ancestral lands is consistent with regionalism. The Bush family members were governors in several US states even though they are from Texas. It's about popularity. Let me agree that Ironsi killed regionalism(even though he was not voted by Igbos but came in through coup), what stops us from restructuring today? Was it not Tinubu and Osinbajo that said restructuring is not necessary but good governance and fight against corruption?
Kapeter:
who invited you though.

Ibos don't believe in unitary, zik blatantly rejected secession clause, Ironsi destroy the wonderful regionalism that was going on. Even till today, you are still the only tribe that want to run for political position in another region entirely different from yours.

Keep deceiving yourself.
Politics › Re: Open Letter To My Yoruba Brothers by DMerciful(m): 10:39pm On Dec 28, 2019
Why do you take the actions of one person to mean the entire Igbos? Was Aguyi Ironsi voted by Igbos to be head of state? A military person that came to power after coup cannot be said to represent Igbos. If you say Igbos destroyed regionalism, do you think if you fight for Oduduwa republic today, Igbos will oppose you? Your answer will tell you who is opposed to regionalism in truth!
Osaze007:
The same igbos that destroyed regionalism when they realized they were losing out lol
Politics › Re: The Shortest Route To Restructuring Of Nigeria by DMerciful(m):

All the above is nonsense as the President of Nigeria has no powers to restructure Nigeria

Restructuring is a constitutional matter and the President of Nigeria has no powers to change or amend the constitution
Politics › Re: Open Letter To My Yoruba Brothers by DMerciful(m): 10:07pm On Dec 28, 2019
The Igbos do not believe in unitary system else they won't be calling for restructuring. Let us restructure the country so everyone develop at their own pace. Being tied to Nigeria is like tying a Ferrari to a truck, the Ferrari cant outrun the truck. GEJ had done a confab to restructure the country but the immediate gain of VP position made the Southwesterners abandoned what is strategic in ensuring their is political and economic liberation. Kingdoms were existing and progressing for thousands of years but because Luggard now placed you in an imaginary contraption, people started behaving as though their destinies are tied to people thousands of kilometers away from their land!

We are not operating federal system of government. This is unitary system disguised as federal. We're only deceiving ourselves
LordKO:
We neither automatically need to restructure nor breakaway from each other before we can achieve sustainable peace in particular and progress in general. Confederation structured around libertarians is our best bet - we can take to confederation without doing conventional restructuring or breakaway. In truth, the federal system of government has done us more harm than good, so let's forget about oneness and pursue unity.

Confederation is very feasible. In fact, with our diversity, federal system of government (oneness) ought not to be put into consideration in any way - individual liberty (autonomous) doesn't automatically mean absence of unity, just as attachment (nonautonomous) doesn't automatically mean presence of oneness.

Sincerely, at this stage of our democracy in particular and countryhood in general, we need libertarians in power in all the arms of government. Liberals (PDP) have tried their best, unfortunately their best wasn't good enough - dispositional caringness of liberals never stop them from being self-centered, disingenuous and greedy. And the conservatives (APC) are obviously trying their best, as the incumbent government in power, unfortunately their best so far haven't been good enough too - dispositional sanctimony of conservatives never stop them from being selfish, hypocritical and greedy.

Libertarians hold the key to our sustainable peace and progress and confederation is our best bet of alliance. With mentally sound libertarians in power in a confederate system of government, irrelevant of the leaders tribe and religion at the center, the country will experience sustainable rapid growth in all areas - dispositional domination (not domineeringness) of libertarians is embedded in altruism and conscientiousness. So we stand to gain a lot from having people of the libertarian ideological leaning in power.

What do you think Bokoharam is? It is retribution for the 1966 pogrom. The Easterners killed in the North in 1966 is being atoned in the form of Bokoharam. The Northerners killed by Bokoharam is about 36k vs 30k Easterners during the pogrom. There has to be retribution then atonement!

Igbos re the reason why one Nigeria exist today.
If zik didn't convinced Northern delegates to vote against secession clause raised by awolowo maybe nigeria would have ended after the first coup Jan 15 1966.

If aguyi ironsi didn't abolished the regional govts the 3 regions would have been thriving on their own pace without looking back.

I'm glad yanmiris paid for their greed'.civil war was a pay back on 1966 coup, and abolishment of a thriving govt by a greedy Igbo man

Use your head, are we still operating the 1960 constitution? Even if it had contained the seccession clause, that constitution has been discarded. The Aburi accord was meant to take us back to regional govts but Gowon abandoned the agreement saying there were different understanding. How can there be different understanding to an agreement supposedly reached? Instead he started dividing the country into 12 states from 4 regions and the north that was 1 region became 6 states while the South that was 3 region( Western, Eastern and Midwest) became 6 states reducing the South from 75% to 50% and now the North has more states and more advantage. All these were done while Awolowo cheered on. The West was happy to see the North gaining more power to an extent that today, nobody becomes president without the North saying so. As at 2011, the North couldn't do anything about GEJ because the South for the first time was united!

Igbos wants Biafra and there is no bigger staying away than this
Oshigun:
You Igbos will be judged by God for your inglorious take on issues to the extent the finest education , even after many decades, cannot assist you in seeing the culpability of your grandparents and their ignominious roles in the advent of the brutal civil war all sides suffered over. So Nigeria just decided to wage war against Igbos and kill them while Igbos were innocent victims entirely blameless over the civil war? Let me ask you Igbos, especially emotional intellectuals like Chinamanda, why the man who took you to war accepted to be pardoned by Nigeria and even ran for office of the same nation he swore Igbos must sever links with. Yet you lot will never blame Ojukwu or the many vainglorious cowards who led your grandparents to their death.

It is the Yorubas and Hausa/Fulani misguided Igbos like Chinamanda must keep calling 'genocidaires' . Newsflash for Igbos. Chinamanda and co are wasting their time. Young Yorubas don't care and we don't feel we did anything wrong. Igbos should develop more emotional maturity or keep hating. Makes no difference in this day and age.

It is very simple. You hate Yorubas/Hausa and Fulani then stay away from them. Proclaiming to hate them daily and fingering them as the cause of all your woes is hypocritical and unprincipled in so far as you Igbos cannot remain in your corner and stay away from them.

BluntBoy:
Even while migrating, elephants would never pass through a battleground. They are highly sensitive animals. They can smell anything even by perceiving the grasses. If they sensed any trouble, they would have passed other routes. Do you know that there hasn't been any elephant sighting in Nigeria for many years now? Why now? You think it is a coincidence?
