If you read what he wrote objectively, you will know that he is right. There must be a balance between population growth and economic growth.
Did you know that the China you're comparing with Nigeria, notwithstanding that they have a robust and thriving economy, population control policies has always been enforced since the 1970's, limiting the number of children parents are allowed to have.
We even have an evidence with us, in that the Northern Nigeria is very much poorer than the South because of it's disproportionate population growth.
