Haha let me crack you up lol. So on my first day in the UK, I found myself in a funny situation.I ended up at a pub, not the hotel I thought I had booked on booking site. The people at the pub informed me that they had repeatedly raised this issue with the booking site since they didn't operate as a hotel but they kept on referring people there .

Before I realised I have bleeped up lol, my Uber had already left, leaving me stranded with my bags packed full of Nigerian food. Adding to the problem, I didn't have Uk SIM card nor internet to book another hotel or call families around.

I stood there, observing fellow Nigerian that might help as I was seeing them, also tried reaching out to one person even my greetings wasnt replied to. My simple request would have been where I could get a SIM card. With a working SIM, I could connect to the internet and book another hotel.

Not knowing a white kind-hearted woman had been looking at me from her office just opposite where I was standing. She came out to me, ask me why my bags were everywhere lol.
After telling her, she asked me to wait while she go fetch her car, she helped transport my luggages even lifting them herself telling me I would have been tired, gave me a lift to another hotel and where to buy SIM card.

I can’t blame Nigerians that didn’t help tho perhaps they have their reasons. I alway say a prayer to that woman till today whenever I remember.

I may say that i do not get the whole pictures because I was not there with you.
We all know that a whole lot of people tends to avoid answering people on the road because they might be pleading for money, but with such luggages? I believe you ought to have changed your approach.

YOU: Excuse me, (they'll give you 2sec attention)
YOU: I am New in town and needs Internet for my navigations. ...(if they are not in much haste, they'll help).

Hmmm... In my first week in this country, I took a train to Rotherham from Sheffield and paid £5.6 in cash inside the train, on my way back I paid the same £5.6 in cash. The conductors were white, a lady to, and a guy fro. It was only me that day, I went to confirm our accomodation.

Following day, I packed my family and all my children inside train to Rotherham, got there as usual, met a white conductor outside the train and told him I'll be paying cash inside the train he said no problem. Lo and behold, the conductor I saw was a black man, he asked for tickets and I said I am paying cash. Next thing, this black man gave me a ticket of £100 for not buying a ticket before boarding the train... My protests and samples of receipts of previous journeys fell on deaf ears. I felt so embarrassed with my kids. That's how we do ourselves, over sabi na e dey kill some of us. Over do!!! He definitely came in as a migrant too! If na Lagos we dey, I for use something do am.

It is all your fault, you should have bought ticket with the cash, you know the rules.

Meanwhile, these laws were never put in place because they saw you, it has been here before you arrive. I know you were thinking he ought to show sympathy, especially when you were with kids, but doing so means he isn't doing his job well....yes he cannot be fining whites and leave Blacks.

I found myself in doing that kind of job at some point here and I know he was expected to bring in some numbers on a daily, so they won't listen & can call in the police.
I couldn't take it then, so I began to find an alternative ASAP because I have issued tickets to people who cried that they do not have enough money ;YET, I showed no concern because the pressure was behind me.

Although the JOB made me to know what the Police are facing back at home (to bring something IN) which has made them to be brutal.

My dear, make that call, you can let them know you got a better offer. They will either let you go or match it.
Always watch out for yourself and don't be guilt tripped by anyone/anything when it comes to situations like this. Even those people would do same if they are faced with same dilemma.

Kindly share your "observations and reservations" for the benefit of most people here. Some people still think they pick money on the floor in the Youkay

I am just returning from an interview, but the fact about this place from my personal point of view( All things being equal), YouKay can never be like Naija in terms of opportunities.

In Naija, if you manages to get capital, you can start anything.
Here, you'd have to have rentage money for months, meanwhile it's very hard to know your targeted customers would be.

Nobody talks to anybody or greets anybody. Even if you greet them they'll be too focused on their own movements than responding.

To get £1=N1,000 is same as in Naija, no free money anywhere. Some people that claimed they have a company are just gathering desperate people to go get free money and they'd only be paid if they succeeds .

Wahala plenty, I dey look into Care Support and other matter. I want go clean nyash if that's what brings in £ oOo.
E done Zeh!
I believe if Naija is retouched, starting with a good transportation channels, and them stopping the everyday devaluation, we are better off.

Wahala... ILR from 5 years to 8 years... Hmmm... There are better ways to tackle immigration and attract only quality talents sha. The Point Based system is not "pointing".

My major challenge with the whole thing is the fact that an Immigrant, no matter how skilled, is tied to the Sponsorship of the Employer. I don't mind the 8 years but requiring an Employment Sponsorship for 8 years is crazy. Such a person can't even easily change jobs but has to remain with Employers willing to sponsor and remain at the mercy of such Employers.

The Global Talent Visa would have been a good remedy but even that is not the easiest to get, I hear.

Don't want to talk about the Visa Fees and IHS for 8 years! smiley

Ridiculous but was expected.
(Expectations: When a non Aryan Race person gets into power, it was done on a purpose. Even if they closes border now, no one would say it's all about rac!sm; yeah an Indian is in power not White...Tools)
I do not know how it would affect the already granted visas, but I surely know they overreacts in their decisions.

Mehn the application has been submitted already. I thought I was answering with a genuine answer because I do have a degree, I didn't know it will now require that I provide ECCTIS. What can I do now

You can withdraw the application and mend your ways, or risk it by still submitting your degree and UKVI IELTS.
I don't know much about this particular issue, but I am aware that Nigerian Universities are grouped into "tiers".
If that degree was gotten from some of the Universities in the Western Nigeria and you studied for 4years, it will be regarded to be equivalent.

But if you studied Engineering which are usually about 5years from other universities, you're still good to go.
(I am not sure it applies here, but if you won't be shaked by a denial, no harm in trying.

Ah I’m present oo! Sorry been flirting with the Canada thread because I wan leave una, run comot from this country.

Loads of things are wrong with the system that me I can’t shout about because if naija was ok, I won’t be here in the first place!!

My recent annoyance (ignoring the cost of living) is that it seems PSV is a scam. Most companies aren’t a recruiting graduates on PSV simply cos they may need sponsorship eventually.. but how come care homes are giving sponsorship like pure water??

So experienced people that ran from naija due to end SARS/buhari will come here and their only career for the next 5 years will be care? Haba! (PS nothing wrong with working in care but some of us did it as students not a career path. I’m offended they are stealing peoples potential!)

I love you all, but UK problem, ike a gwosiri’m -sorry igbo isn’t my first language- (it sha means my power have finish).

But you done collect your kpali? Because starting afresh in counting towards perpetual stay no be better thing ooO, or else person done first secure 0ne place before jumping again.

I'm super glad that you saw through the illusion of young/old woman in the picture. You've got beauty and brains. That's why you are my first love on NL kiss

But this picture again illustrates the importance of not jumping to conclusions. One may be looking at a picture and seeing the wrong image. Depending on one's perspective, that picture may be that of a young lady or that of an old woman. As they say, every story has at least two sides.

It's called Scotoma, the eye sees what it chooses to see.
I looked at your pictures from start to finish, na old Mama dey there; nothing changed, only that she threw her face then other side.

What is it with the picture tho? I never understood why you so much making emphasis on the photos you are reposting?
