Ok, please tell me more, I am eager to learn.
it's a bit of a common sense that African countries are not that important in global trades as much as every other continent. Most countries(esp Asia) now have most of the natural resources we depend on.

The united states once bought 1 million barrels of oil per day and yet Nigerians are still wallowing in poverty like this. o my country people. our leaders have really cheated us.
we must rise up and do something
I am loving the fact we might have to learn the hard way. When a few of us kept telling most nigerians to open their eyes to the wastefulness of politicians they didn't listen. Now poverty should force them to.

A saudi oil minister last month on bloomberg insisted they would hold it out until shale producers cant finance their expensive shale production. Quoting him, If they cut production and prices go up, guess who would step in and fill the gap? Saudi has enough to fund its budget deficit for four years, cant say the same for nigeria. PMB just has to summon courage, diversify our economy. Manufacturing, steel production, mining, power sector revitalization, agriculture, refinery. Revitalising these sectors is key to economic development. Many third world countries are doing well without oil, we should get our acts together, its time nigeria invoke that industrial spirit that we are known for. Who needs china or USA, India is walking this path, its time we follow suit.
Indeed. I agree .

Lol. This might be best piece of good news for a long time.

No more reliance on oil. Osun case of not being able to workers could become a nationwide thing.

I think it's time to get hoe & cutlass (or tractor if you can afford it) and head back to the farm.

Farming to export food might be the way forward.

If oil money is seriously declines, let's see if Nigeria can continue as one. If the "oil glue" will hold.
I agree

China is buying more than 50% of Angolan crude, both products are almost the same. As we speak today, the President of Angola is in China for a $25B package. Keep waiting on Obama and Cameron , all you get are photo ups and a good handshake.
Both are actually not the same. Ours is more expensive refined products

Good, time to drink your worthless oyel. The only people keeping crude oil prices high are the Saudis aka US puppets.
Saudi are one of the guys keeping it low. They have repeatedly refused to cut their production to kick shale gas off market

Happy at least because it will ground tinubu and some other elites. Nigeria is just too big to have a local champion dictates runs

(1) by praying for right leadership
(2) we may have to carry placards in peaceful protest
We have been praying for years with no changes, so it's obvious something else needs to be done. I don't think a placard will make a lot of difference either tbh.
PoliticsThe average Nigerians are the most shortsighted/one dimension people in Africa. by Dollyak(op):
Nigerians are the most obedient set of human species that I have ever seen and they are excellent copy-cats of their leaders. They sheepishly follow the foot-steps and direction of their leaders without questioning.

When are we going to wake up in this country? You have polticians milking the country dry and yet people are very quick to praise them for doing basic things like payment of salaries. Every time on nl you see people attacking each other over polticians who either embezzled or are embezzling billions of Naira through budget allocations, exorbitant allowance, loans for imaginary project etc.

More than 1 million Brazillians protested last year to demand for a better governance, but instead all we do at best is to show our frustration online with no action in real life.

It's ridiculous how these politicians are getting away with this, so my question is what can we do to force the polticians to cut their salaries, allowance as well as demand for a better governance, because at the moment it seems our vote is not powerful enough to effect change, as we keep voting for the elites choices

We need to demand a change to the structural systems that reward this failures, we call polticians.

How can we achieve this?

Seriously, the best thing for Nigeria is an overhaul of the old politicians. We need new and proven leaders in their respective fields with no affiliation to the elites.
PoliticsRe: Lagos Set To Join Oil Producing States As Production Begins This Year by Dollyak(f): 6:21am On Jun 09, 2015
The day we start celebrating the production of technological products will be a great moments in our history. Technology contributes far more to the economy than oil and gas or any other natural resources.
