PoliticsRe: Riot Ongoing In Makurdi, Benue State (Photos) by donogaga(m): 5:00pm On Jan 13, 2018
The meat business is a very serious business.

I have been to abattoirs and the craze for meat is real...Also during this Christmas holiday, several people gifted there fans and followers with cows.

In some traditions a meal without meat is considered an insult and in fact as part of training most children are taught to finish their food before their meat.

The suya business is a multi-million Naira business, which now has dried variants in shops, sharwama also has a beef variant.

The truth is that most people cannot do without meat and it is a multi-billion Naira industry.

Curiously, the main source of meat in this nation are nomads. Unfortunately, this business and traditional model has caused a lot of problems and a lot of people have been killed in the process.

Ban them, stop them from coming to your state... Businessmen and women will go to states where they are allowed to roam.. Buy cows and sell it at exorbitant prices to butchers who will increase the price of meat...

Now to the meat of the matter...

I would expect State governments to cash into this business.

Imagine let's say the Delta State government acquires hectares of lands in rural areas, and they also acquire exotic grasses and breeds of cattle.

Imagine them having several ranches, and having milk producing breeds.

Imagine my state, supplying grasses to all parts of the country.

Imagine if my state government, decides to be greedy with the "Canda" and decides to open a leather factory and rather than sell the leather decide to go into shoe, sandals, belt, bag and even cloth production.

Imagine if we used the hooves and horns rich in keratin for developing our line of hair care products...

Imagine what their waste products would be used for, imagine us being ahead in the biogas industry.

Imagine my state running, other cattle rearers out of business and then putting laws to tax other rearers.

Imagine how many people will be employed and the revenue that will be accrued to the state.

Imagine the development that would come to those rural areas.

Just imagine people that would be gainfully employed, just imagine the cycle of wealth.

In another news,

One reason the fulani herdsmen have not evolved, is that is virtually no competition in this sector.

One reason perhaps, may be that a lot of Ogas on the top may actually be owners of this multi-billion Naira industry and will do everything to protect their business.

Beyond the politics, rhetoric and crocodile tears let one state or even wealthy individual pick up this challenge and build a model of prosperity for her people.

Again what do I know?

SportsIs Jose Mourinho Right To Complain About United's Spending? by donogaga(op): 9:01pm On Dec 27, 2017
ESPN FC's Rob Dawson compares United's spending to Manchester City's.

Mourinho vs Guardiola

The key line from Mourinho's post-Burnley press conference was that the money he has spent on his United team is 'not enough' to properly challenge City. Mourinho is only talking about United vs City and in that context, he is right that Guardiola has spent more. Since taking over at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, Guardiola has spent £361.1m on 12 players. Over the same span, Mourinho has spent £286.3m on seven players.

Mourinho's gripe

As well as saying he has not had enough money, Mourinho also made mention of City 'buying full-backs for the price of strikers,' a reference to City spending £120.8m on Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo in the summer. What will annoy Mourinho most, though, is not the fees but the fact that Guardiola got what he wanted. City initially tried to haggle with Tottenham over Walker but ended up paying £45 million because Guardiola made it clear how important he would be this season.
By contrast, United refused to meet Inter Milan's price for Perisic. Mourinho was clear he wanted four new signings in the summer but only got three. Of those, only two (Lukaku and Nemanja Matic) have been able to go straight into the team. It is not the first time this season that Mourinho has referenced money.

The end product

The numbers, £360m compared to £280m, are comparable. It's just that City's spending has had more of an impact. The United team that started Boxing Day's 1-1 against Burnley included seven players that Mourinho inherited. The City team Guardiola fielded against Tottenham the same weekend contained eight players brought in over the past three summers. In the five years since Ferguson retired, United have spent £609.5m on 22 players. Louis van Gaal brought in 13, of which six have already left. Mourinho can at least be happy that the majority of his signings seem to have paid off.

WebmastersInternet Security In Africa ‘non-existent’, Experts Warn by donogaga(op): 10:23pm On Dec 10, 2017
Data protection experts pushing for earnest legal frameworks for the privacy of Nigerians on the Internet have warned that there is no security in the African web space.

The experts held a seminar on Tuesday in Ibadan to discuss how the worrisome situation could be addressed to avert even more debilitating realities for Internet users across the continent.

“Online privacy and online security in Africa are virtually non-existent or at best, far between and calls for spirited informed action, stakeholders vigilance and voice,” said Tunji Olaopa, executive vice-chairman of Ibadan School of Governance and Public Policy, ISGPP.

Mr. Olaopa said Africa has become the new frontier of Internet-based ventures and giant telecommunication ventures and, as such, cannot afford to be hapless with its data protection mechanism.

Other experts who spoke at the event also warned of potentially grave consequences for the African populace unless immediate measures are taken, especially the need to enact data protection laws.

Emmanuel Okochu of Co-Creation Hub Nigeria, a Lagos-based technology and innovation centre, said that the biggest challenge to data protection in Nigeria is that most users do not have a detailed understanding of its positive sides.

“The people you seek to protect are the ones who don’t understand why they should be protected,” Mr. Okochu said.

The expert said his firm often issues warnings to Internet users to be wary of how much personal information they put online, but this piece of advice is rarely heeded.

Also at the event was Tope Ogundipe, who represented Paradigm Initiative Nigeria, a public-policy think-tank. She said citizens’ data are regularly collected by countries across Africa without appropriate legal structure upon which such activities could be predicated.

Paradigm Initiative and other privacy rights advocates are pushing for a Digital Rights and Freedom Bill to address Internet anomalies in Nigeria. The bill is currently being debated at the National Assembly.

Several representatives came from other African countries including, Nigeria, South Africa, Mauritius, Kenya, Ghana, Ivory Coast, amongst others.

RomanceThey Will Steal All Your Men by donogaga(op): 8:12pm On Dec 08, 2017
- A concerned Kenyan lady recently came out to educate fellow ladies, specifically main chics

- The lady revealed how most Kenyan men treat their main chics badly but treat their side chics like royalties

- Her revelation attracted the attention of countless Kenyans who couldn't agree more

A random Kenyan lady recently took to social media to highlight some of the problems main chics go through in the hands of side chics, rather Slay Queens.

In a bid to educate fellow Kenyan ladies ,the lass revealed how most main chics are turned into house-helps all for love.

According to the lass's revelation, most main chics in solid relationship end up doing all the donkey work, only to pave way for Slay Queens who end up enjoying the fruits.

Concerned Kenyan brilliantly explains how Slay queens outsmart main chics. Photo: KenyanVibe/Instagram

Using his male neighbor and his two women as an example, the lady explained how the main chic usually show up over the weekend to deal with all manner of house chores, ranging from scrubbing the floor, laundry, cooking and whatnot.

''My neighbour has two girlfriends, main chic and slayqueen. I have stayed there for a year so I know them. They don't know each other. Main girl comes on Fri night and stays till Sun evening.Slay queen comes on Monday and leaves by Wed. Always.

Friday night -Sunday morning

Viombo zinagongana, and Easy Fm love songs. She washes clothes that fill the whole wireline.Scrubs the veranda thoroughly, never bothers to be nice to people. I tried acting like a good neighbour but I gave up.''the lady wrote on Facebook.

Speaking of the side chic, the concerned lady revealed how she usually pop up at her neighbor's house on Monday, and stay all through to Wednesday, doing nothing but eating life with a big spoon.

Unlike the main chic, the side chick rather Slay Queen is treated with utmost respect and care. From being treated to expensive meals like Pizza and even gets to enjoy night outs and what have you.

To add salt to injury, the main chic ends up being referred to as 'Mama wa Kufua' by both the man and his side chic.

''Monday -Wednesday

Slay queen arrives. Knocks on my door ..sasa Tess.. Uko poa ..nakuona tu whatsapp.... Unakula nini Leo.. Bla bla bla..The make up ..the booty short, hata kama I missed the make up class, I have no doubt she has a degree in makeupology.Sound tracks are free of charge from Monday to Wednesday, pizza boxes zinatupwa nje daily, Netflix is bae.''She wrote in part.

In conclusion, the concerned lady urged fellow women, rather main chics who are yet to be married officially to refrain from assuming the wife position lest they suffer the same predicament.

''I feel for main chic but her attitude is a no no.Ladies,or should I call you main chics, hii ujinga yenu ya ku act kama bibi to a boychild mtaacha. You come there from Friday umefunga leso, hauchani nywele ati unasugua carpet na milango. I wonder if at the end of the day you have any strength left. It's the reason these slay queens will take away everything from you. Boy child likes what he sees. But again, to the boychild, God is watching you.Btw,slayqueen told me ati mama fua hucome sato .''

I think she nailed it.No?

TravelVisa Free Countries You Can Visit As A Nigerian by donogaga(op): 8:10pm On Dec 07, 2017
When an average Nigerian hears someone has been on vacation, there’s usually the perception that they have a stash of money somewhere to splurge.
However, there are a number of luxurious places in the world that you can travel to on a very affordable budget, visa free.
When we Nigerians hear the word Vacation we automatically think about luxury, extravagance, grandeur in Miami, Dubai, Hawaii, Milan, London, or Laying under the sun, sipping a Mojito cocktail or two, in a five or seven star hotel somewhere in the Caribbean.
The issue isn’t wanting to go to these places, it’s the whole process of planning a trip, like the obvious daunting task of procuring a visa, rescheduling over and over again to the long queue’s and the stress most of these embassies give Nigerians, already making us feel unwelcomed beforehand. What most Nigerian’s don’t know or fail to understand is, we shouldn’t have to break the bank just because we want to relax for a few weeks.
Taking a vacation or ‘holiday’ in my household growing up, meant crossing state lines to a relative’s place, spending time with my cousins and other extended families. And it’s statistically a major practice in most households in Nigeria. Travelling to Europe or oversea’s, basically leaving the country was reserved for the elites and rich people. It’s still a common misconception, and I’m here to prove otherwise.
In truth, you do not need visas to visit a lot of wonderful countries especially here in Africa that can rival any top spot anywhere else in the world. Below is the list of countries you can visit visa free as a Nigerian;
Bangladesh (Visa on arrival)
Barbados (Visa free for 6 months)

Ghana (Visa free)
Guinea (Visa free)
Guinea Bissau (Visa free for 90 days)
Haiti (Visa free for 90 days)
Iran (Visa on arrival)

Samoa (Visa on arrival for 60 days )
Senegal ( Visa free )
Seychelles (Visa on arrival for 30 days)

Tanzania (Visa on arrival)
Timor-Leste (Visa on arrival for 30 days)
Togo (Visa free)
Tuvalu (Visa on arrival for 30 days)

I know right? I was shocked too. I’m going to touch on a few African and Caribbean countries. Some of them I’ve personally been to. Below is a list of countries in Africa with breathtaking scenery, wonderful landscapes and tourist attractions that can rival any hot spot anywhere else in the world.

TV/MoviesSouth African Agency Penalizes Dstv For Promoting Repeats As New Movies by donogaga(op): 9:13pm On Dec 06, 2017
This is probably not an offence in Nigeria, but the country needs a similar action.

Africa’s leading pay-tv operator, DStv, has been ordered to discontinue airing some movies/contents by Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) after a customer complained about manipulative advertising.
Alison Job told the advertising watchdog that the brand new series of ‘Doc Martin’ was a recycled content. So also was the US sitcom “Mom” movie branded as new by DStv.

The Multichoice Company stated that the “Mom” had been previously aired on M-Net, and the promotion was only announcing its Comedy Central‚ where it is featuring for the first time.

However, to many viewers and subscribers without a Premium Dstv package it was indeed “brand new”.

The Judgment against DStv
According to the ASA in its rulings, the agency stated the ‘Mom’, being branded as new, is actually “an old content that is being repeated for the umpteenth time”.

Multichoice explains reasons for repeats of programs
Multichoice explains reasons for repeats of programs (Multichoice)
“One would not expect the label ‘brand new’ to be applied to a show that has been available in South Africa since 2013,” the watchdog agency remarked.

“In the second place‚ the claim makes no reference to the channel. The words ‘only on [Comedy Central]’ further aggravate the matter. By making this statement the implication is that this is the only channel to ever air this ‘brand new’ season.

“In fact‚ these old seasons have been aired on at least one other channel‚ if not more. They are also‚ most likely‚ available as DVDs.”

The ASA ordered DStv to withdraw the claim that “Mom” was new.

Repeating and promoting old content is one offence of DStv across Africa
High frequency of promoting and airing repeated content has been one offence many subscribers of DStv or GOtv – both operated by Multichoice, can easily relate with.

Subscribers in Nigeria have taken to social media many times to complain about this practice and less value for money being paid to the company.

Some of the new movies/contents have been previously aired.
Some of the new movies/contents have been previously aired. (Multichoice)
A Zambian subscriber, Solomon Kimmie, wrote a letter to Multichoice in 2016 and he raised the issue of programs rerun/repeats as a major practice of DStv/GOtv in the country.

“My name is Solomon Kimmie using DSTV account number 4273582861. Kindly look into my complaint laid against DSTV/ Multichoice Zambia with regards to their services/ content to its Zambian subscribers.”

“…Not forgetting the fact that we pay for repeats. We are subjected to reruns/repeats. I carried out my own brief channel survey. Each channel has no less than 2 repeats per day x 30 days. WOW is staggering. They must be making a massively save venture with the repeats. Again if we had to analyze each channel with the number of repeats, definitely get a shock. Mind you these repeats can go on for months.”

The company also agreed to this engaging in this act during a press conference held in Cape Town on December 6, 2016. The General Manager, Content for MultiChoice - Aletta Alberts, said: "We want to say to customers we've heard you and we are making changes."

“It's not like repeats will go away but in general we are improving our product dramatically. One of the key issues over the years is that repeats have been at the forefront of our challenges.”

It is obvious Nigeria and Argentina, share the same umbilical cord "footballically" speaking.

1st world cup, we are pitched against them and Maradonaed.

Olympics we play against them in the finals, and we beat them to clinch gold.

We meet them again in the world cup and they do us another slight something.

We meet them in the Olympics finals and they do us something.

Curiously, the goal difference has not been more than one goal.

In friendlies however, we usually do them bad things.

Even with the magician Messi, hoping we take a point off them for the first time in a world cup.

PhonesFacebook Is Using Smartphones To Listen To What People Say, Professor Suggests. by donogaga(op): 4:42am On Nov 22, 2017
FACEBOOK IS USING SMARTPHONES TO LISTEN TO WHAT PEOPLE SAY, PROFESSOR SUGGESTS.

The company says that it does use peoples' microphones, but only to help them out – and there’s an easy way of turning it off.

Facebook could be listening in on people’s conversations all of the time, an expert has claimed.

The app might be using people’s phones to gather data on what they are talking about, it has been claimed.

Facebook says that its app does listen to what’s happening around it, but only as a way of seeing what people are listening to or watching and suggesting that they post about it.

All the personal information you give away each time you 'like' a Facebook page
The feature has been available for a couple of years, but recent warnings from Kelli Burns, mass communication professor at the University of South Florida, have drawn attention to it.

Professor Burns has said that the tool appears to be using the audio it gathers not simply to help out users, but might be doing so to listen in to discussions and serve them with relevant advertising. She says that to test the feature, she discussed certain topics around the phone and then found that the site appeared to show relevant ads.

Though Professor Burns said she was not convinced that Facebook is listening in on conversations – it may have been that she was searching for the same things that she chose to discuss around the phone – but she said that it wouldn't be a surprising move from the site.

The claim chimes with anecdotal reports online that the site appears to show ads for things that people have mentioned in passing.

Facebook said that it does listen to audio and collect information from users – but that the two aren't combined, and that sounds heard around people aren't used to decide what appears in the app.

“Facebook does not use microphone audio to inform advertising or News Feed stories in any way," a spokesperson told The Independent. "Businesses are able to serve relevant ads based on people’s interests and other demographic information, but not through audio collection.”

At the moment, the feature is only available in the US.

When it was first introduced, in 2014, Facebook responded to controversy by arguing that the phone isn’t “always listening” and that it never stores the “raw audio” when it is listening.

The next stage for Facebook?
Facebook says explicitly on its help pages that it doesn’t record conversations, but that it does use the audio to identify what is happening around the phone. The site promotes the feature as an easy way of identifying what you are listening to or watching, to make it easier and quicker to post about whatever’s going on.

Facebook profile photos reveal people’s personalities
If people want to use the feature that way, then they can start writing a post in the normal way. If it’s turned on, then it will start identifying what is being listened to or watching – at which point a little face with some soundwaves next to it will appear.

If it identifies the sound successfully, then it will show a little “1” next to the face instead – users can then click that, select the thing they are watching or listening to, and then write the rest of the update.

“If your phone's microphone has trouble matching what you're listening to or watching, the room you're in may be loud or a commercial may be on,” according to Facebook’s help page. “If this happens, tap, drag and release your screen to try a new match.”

Turning off the microphone in a phone’s settings is relatively easy, and since it can be done at the level of the operating system, doing so will mean that Facebook can’t turn it on even if it wanted to. It’s done on an iPhone by heading to the app’s settings, clicking through to privacy and switching the slider for microphone; on Android phones, head to settings and then privacy, and change the permissions that the Facebook app is given.

The claims come after Belgian police warned citizens not to use Facebook's Reactions tool if they valued their privacy.

HealthNurses Reveal The Last Words People Say Before They Die In Hospital by donogaga(op): 8:35pm On Nov 16, 2017
Some nurses who take care of persons who are about dying, have opened up on some of the things they said before passing away.

The Macmillan nurses revealed people’s last words before they die (Picture: BBC)

Macmillan nurses in London – who care for the terminally ill – have revealed some of the moving things their patients have told them at the end of their lives, BBC reports.

The nurses revealed that some patients asked to see pets for the last time, others simply wanted a cup of tea.

One nurse, at the Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, said a couple who were both being given palliative care once asked for their beds to be pushed together so they could hold hands.

They then died within 10 days of each other.

The nurses opened up about the final few minutes of life for a special video for BBC News titled What do people say before they die?

Many of the women featured said they took part to prove it is possible to have a ‘good death’ and people shouldn’t be afraid of passing on.

Nurse Dani Jervis said in the moving film: ‘We do get people that would like their favourite tipple.

‘One person said life is too short, do the things that you want, do the things that make you happy,’ she said.

Another nurse, Louise Massey, said: ‘To see the joy on someone’s face when they’re dying when their dogs been in to see them is priceless.’

‘One thing that was said to me quite recently was about the dying process and he said it wasn’t like the movies and what you see on the TV,’ Carina Lowe said.

Nurse Jervis added: ‘I think there is such a thing as a good death and I think communication is key. ‘If there is something that you want to do, go for it.’

RomanceThe Truth About Emotional Affairs by donogaga(op): 8:26pm On Nov 06, 2017
It might have started with a conversation over the Internet, or with a seemingly innocent friendship in the workplace. Maybe it began as an uncomplicated thought: Unlike my spouse, this person really understands me.. What can it hurt? I need a little excitement in my life.

These romances may seem harmless — perhaps even "safe" alternatives to cheating on your spouse. The truth is, such relationships venture into dangerous territory; they may not initially lead to physical involvement, but they can still devastate marriages.

Not Just a Harmless Romance

"A new crisis of infidelity is emerging in which people who never intended to be unfaithful are unwittingly crossing the line from platonic friendships into romantic relationships ... ," asserts the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

The statement is backed up by alarming statistics conducted through a national poll. While the findings showed that 15 percent of married women and 25 percent of married men have had sexual affairs, it was also revealed that an additional 20 percent of married couples have been impacted by emotional infidelity.

If you or a couple you know are in a hopeless place, Focus on the Family’s Hope Restored marriage intensives can help.

Impact of the Internet

Traditionally, the workplace has provided the most potential for extramarital affairs. Now, online communication has opened the floodgates for other opportunities to develop romantic entanglements.

"The Internet is a dangerous place," said Jim Vigorito, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist. "People can begin [a relationship] at an innocuous level, and then it can progress to something more."

What starts out as an emotional outlet can often lead a person down a slippery slope. Because the Web entices users with the lure of anonymity, one may be more prone to share personal issues with others — issues that they wouldn't normally talk about in person. With barriers down, a deep level of emotional intimacy can develop between two people quickly.

Not Just "Innocent Fun"

As prevalent as these affairs are becoming, they are not always easily identified or even seen as harmful. One reason lies in the lesser degree, or absence of, guilt and shame that often accompany extramarital sexual encounters.
The spouse entangled in the relationship may justify it as "innocent fun" due to the lack of physical contact. The impact this may have on a marriage varies according to the couple. In Vigorito's opinion, to women, the betrayal of emotional infidelity can be as debilitating as that of physical infidelity. Even though physical boundaries have not been crossed, "you're taking your best communication outside of your marriage, and then there's not much left to bring to your spouse."

Contributing Factors and Warning Signs

A number of factors can lead to having an emotional affair. Certainly, communication or conflict resolution issues can lure a spouse to look for companionship elsewhere. Extramarital relationships can also attract those wanting to escape stressful situations, pressure and responsibility associated with family. And as with other temptations like pornography, the pursuit of fantasy undermines the presence of reality.

So how can you recognize an emotional affair? These signs may indicate that a relationship has gone too far:

(1) You share personal thoughts or stories with someone of the opposite sex.

(2) You feel a greater emotional intimacy with him or her than you do with your spouse.

(3) You start comparing him or her to your spouse, and begin listing why your spouse doesn't add up.

(4) You long for, and look forward to, your next contact or conversation.

(5) You start changing your normal routine or duties to spend more time with him or her.

(6) You feel the need to keep conversations or activities involving him or her a secret from your spouse.

(7) You fantasize about spending time with, getting to know or sharing a life with him or her.

Romance9 Differences Between The Guy You Are Dating And The One You Will Marry by donogaga(op): 7:07pm On Nov 03, 2017
1. The guy you are just dating will tell you that he is not the commitment type. He will be spending time with you, doing things, make out and will never admit he can be into any commitment. While the one you will marry is the guy who becomes the right guy soon after you meet. This is when everything in your life changes and he makes you realize you can’t live without him.

2. The guy you are dating never talks about your future together. He is not ambitious and doesn’t feel excited about your future life either. While the guy you will marry always talks about future, plans things together and there is nothing he will think to exclude you from.

3. He’ll test you and see what buttons he can push. He wants to see how much you’re willing to give even when he doesn’t reciprocate things. While with the guy you will marry, everything you give you get back and for the first time, it doesn’t feel like you’re trying too hard to make a relationship work.

4. The guy you date will never bother to hear about your dreams and plans. He just cares about the present moment and wants to get maximum. He is not interested in your life and doesn’t care about being a part of your life. On the other hand the guy, you will marry, supports and encourages you for better future and achieving your targets. He takes your life as his life.

5. The guy you are dating just wants sex with you. He is not that patient and always thinks to use you for his pleasure. He will use everything to trap you. While the guy, you will marry, will want everything with your consent. He will want to marry you before things get too serious.

6. The guy you are dating has sexual goals focused on his pleasure. He doesn’t care how you feel or what it means to you as he is finding pleasure in you. The guy you will marry will try to find new sexual goals that focus on your pleasure and it has little to do with his pleasure.

7. The guy you date meets you at a place of common of drinking, partying and sleeping together. The guy you will marry wouldn’t meet at a bar and he will want you to meet somewhere that interests both of you- a place that connects you both. From there you build the future of your relationship based on that.

8. The guy you date lets you pay and has many excuses to not pay at the restaurant. While the guy you will marry never lets you pay bills and always comes forward before the server asks for the bill.

9. The guy you date won’t talk about feelings. He doesn’t know how he feels about you. He might like you. He might like being with you sometimes. But he is not the guy who can make you feel secure. The guy you marry isn’t afraid to say I love you first. The guy, you will marry wants, you to know he’s completely in love with you. He’ll say it without even thinking twice about it because he feels lucky to even have you. You look him in the eyes and you see the next fifty years in front of you.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Diego Perotti Puts His Finger In El Sharaawy's Ass After Goal Vs Chelsea by donogaga(m): 7:27am On Nov 01, 2017
I have watched many Chelsea matches good and bad, but this seems to be the worst.

The players don't even want to hide the fact that they do not want to play again.

It would have been better to watch paint dry.

Unfortunately the match against Manchester United carries extra significance, if Conte loses, the trigger happy Abrahamovic would strike.

And curiously Ancellotti is available.

RomanceI Married My Love Making Client by donogaga(op): 5:49am On Oct 30, 2017
“What was your motivation to get into this kind of business?” my client asked me as I told him my charges for the night once we got in the room.

I hadn’t seen the question coming because most worker’s clients have no time for preambles. Theirs is pay, get it and leave. My client tonight was a young handsome man in his late 20s. The gold ring on his finger was the only reason I suspected he was a married man. ?

I did not have an immediate answer so I retorted: “…and why have you left your wife for prostitutes… I am in business!”

Deep inside me I knew I would give anything to live a more decent life, but prostitution had gotten into me and now I could not free myself! His smile was the kindest I have ever seen in my entire life as a worker. “Would you really be interested in knowing why I am here?” He gently responded sending frightening memories of the warning my “mentors” in  work had issued.

“If you ever meet a client who wants to engage you in conversation, be on the alert; he could be buying time for mischief such as calling his friends for gang rape, forcing you into crime or even murder!” But my one year experience in work had equipped me fully for such eventualities and I knew what to do should this man try any monkey-business.

But how wrong I was, this man had been sent by God to rescue me from the bondage of prostitution. I recalled how I had got into  work:

My parents could not afford to take me to the university though I had passed my Form Four exams very well. I had two siblings who needed education at least to reach where I had reached in secondary education. Frustrated, I remained indoors for days and cried refusing to eat or listen to my parents’ consolation.

“It’s never too late to join university; as soon as we settle your brothers’ school fees, you will join university,” my father kept promising. I watched my friends join colleges and universities while I lived only on promises. I felt dejected and cheated by life; why was I born in a poor family? I imagined how I would soon be miserable and perhaps get pregnant out of desperation and that would be the end of me. Such thoughts drove me nuts.

Then one day a ‘miracle’ happened: Agnes, a former schoolmate who was living and working in Mombasa came to visit her parents and of course got the local gossip about my predicament. She visited me and brought so many goodies to my family that when she suggested that she’d go with me to Mombasa to “try and get me a job” my parents and I approved it without consultation.

She was very sympathetic and proposed that I could even enroll for evening classes at some university in Mombasa. “With her grades, she can get a good clerical job in Mombasa,” she had assured my parents.

To both my parents and I, this was a kingly offer because not only would I pay for my own education, I would also help my siblings with their school fees. Agnes generously gave me some of her expensive clothes and shoes to put on as we travelled to Mombasa, over 600 kilometres from my village in the interior of Western Kenya.

Throughout the journey, I imagined myself in an office, living in a good house and most of all fulfilling my dream of being a campus girl! Maybe I would build my parents a better house. Castles in the air overwhelmed me as the bus sped on.

As a simple village girl I could only marvel at the luxurious apartment Agnes lived in. I fell in love with Mombasa the minute I set foot there. Agnes showed me places I had only read of in magazines. The beaches, the deluxe hotels and the historic buildings were all spectacles that left me open-mouthed. I imagined the places I would be visiting on weekends when I got the “clerical job.”

That was never to be, as it turned out, it was another of my fantasies.

As days turned to weeks, I noticed with curiosity that my host never went to work as such. She spent most of her day sleeping and would occasionally leave the house briefly and come back.

She explained that she did a business in cosmetics but she also worked as a receptionist in one of the posh restaurants at night. That explained why she never came home most of the nights. Agnes had explained that I needed a little patience as she talked to her friends who would give me a job.

So for the first few weeks, I remained indoors doing house chores and Agnes would buy food and pay for my hairdos and other amenities. Life became very easy for me and occasionally Agnes would invite me for dinner at the restaurant she purportedly worked where I would meet some of her “business partners.”

My easy life was however short-lived. On one of the evenings I went out with Agnes, a drunkard approached our table and asked me to dance with him. I declined and Agnes and her “business-partner” giggled. I was shocked because I expected her to shield me from drunkards.

When a second, less-drunk man approached me to join his table, Agnes signaled me to consent. I still declined because I was fresh from school and had never been intimate with any man. He looked older than me and in my mind I thought he was disrespecting me.

That night Agnes scolded me; she accused me of playing holy yet I expected her to meet all the house expenses. “You must learn how to look for your own money, that’s how I survive!” she had said. It then dawned on me that she was a worker. In the morning she took me to a cheap hotel and told me she had booked me for only one week.

“After that, you are alone unless you choose to make new friends!” she had said. After two days of pangs of hunger, I heeded her advice and went to a local bar. That was the genesis of my life in work. Though I felt dirty and used after every client, the money was easy to get. Sometimes, some clients would beat me and refuse to pay, other times I would be beaten by more experienced workers for stealing their clients and I was even gang-raped severally.

When I told Agnes what I was going through, she offered to mentor me in the  business. “This is work, do whatever you have to but make money; that is the rule of thumb in this industry!”

I learnt how to fight, to shout obscenities when there was need and even started drinking alcohol because there were some clients who looked old, haggard and dirty hence I couldn’t offer services without some alcoholic influence.

My only comfort was that I was able to pay for the cheap hotel where I continued living and send my parents money though I never disclosed what exactly I was doing. I preferred overly drunken men because they were easier to steal from and I could also knock them down should they think of playing smart.

“It was during these nights I met Ouma. He struck me as a young responsible family-man and when he winked at me, I wasn’t sure he was serious. In the room, he asked why I chose prostitution and when I retorted I saw tears welling in his eyes. He had his share also. His wife of only one and a half years and their baby son had died in a car-crash only five months earlier and he himself had tried suicide several times. He had come to the bar to drown his sorrow and seek solace from a worker. I empathised with him.

“How tragic!” was all I could whisper. Soon we were talking like old friends and I also poured out my story to him. As I was narrating my ordeal to Ouma, I felt like I was writing fiction! It hadn’t occurred to me the intensity of what I was doing. He thought I was in more trouble than he was. Today, in our sweet moments we make fun at how we thought of each other being in more trouble.

That night Ouma and I made a decision; we would do our best to help each other. He swore he couldn’t dare leave me in Mombasa for another night. I bought the idea, assuring myself that if it didn’t work, I knew where to run back to. The following day, we went to my cheap hotel to pick my clothes and valuables ready to start a new life in Nairobi where he was working. He shed tears when he saw where I was living. “Why is life so cruel?” he kept muttering.

“Welcome to your new home, Mrs Ouma!” My client, addressing me by his name welcomed me to a beautiful bungalow in a rich neighbourhood once we arrived in Nairobi. He is a lawyer and before long he enrolled me in a university to study pharmacy.

Today, I am a pharmacist and doing a Masters in a university in Nairobi. We have since solemnised our marriage and we are the proud parents of two lovely daughters. My husband has never judged me, nor does he attribute anything about me to my former work life. I have never doubted his love or gotten insecure that he can seek solace from  workers again. Our meeting made us believe in God more since it was indeed a divine connection.

We have gone through different counselling sessions to help us overcome our past so that we should never blame ourselves.

Of course there are times I remember my former  life and feel dirty but like my husband who is my best friend keeps assuring me that God wanted me to be in that situation to make me a better person. I would never cast the first stone to anyone; however ugly their situation is. As it were for me and my husband, life can only get better!

SportsSalford City Goalkeeper Sees Red For Urinating During Match by donogaga(op): 4:14pm On Oct 29, 2017
SALFORD CITY GOALKEEPER SEES RED FOR URINATING DURING MATCH

New Zealand youth international Max Crocombe later apologised for his actions after being given his marching orders in bizarre circumstances

There is nothing worse than being caught short when on the football field - thousands of eyes watching and all you can think of is when you might be able to relieve yourself.

For many amateur footballers, the site of players disappearing mid-match to the toilet is not an unfamiliar sight, but those watching Salford City's National League North clash with Bradford Park Avenue got more than they bargained for on Saturday.

With Salford 2-1 up in the closing stages, goalkeeper Max Crocombe was shown a red card in mysterious circumstances, with no one quite sure what the New Zealand Under-23 international had done wrong.

It soon materialised, however, that Crocombe had chosen to urinate by the side of the pitch rather than wait until he was able to return to the dressing room at full-time.

Crocombe - who will face a suspension of at least three matches - later apologised for the incident, writing on Twitter: "I'd like to sincerely apologise for the incident today. I was in a very uncomfortable position and made an error of judgement which spoiled a great win.

"My intention was never to offend anyone and I'd like to apologise to both clubs and both sets of supporters and it won't happen again."

Salford are owned by members of Manchester United's famed 'Class of '92', with Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville and Phil Neville all involved in the day-to-day running of the non-league outfit.

The Mediterranean Sea Is Now Cemetery for African Immigratns

Mediterranean Sea is fast becoming a cemetery for African immigrants. More Africans are perishing in the deep blue sea daily.

The immigrants are risking their lives in the deadliest voyage to cross into Europe in search of greener pastures.

The number of black Africans dead in the sea surpassed those who died during the infamous slave trade era of the 19 century.

It's heart-breaking to see images of dead Africans brought to the shoreline of the sea as captured below.

Africa is the richest continent pregnant with rich mineral resources but our people are dying in the sea daily because of rat race to Europe to eke a living of menial jobs!!!

Africa must rise to stop the dangerous trans Mediterranean voyage to save the black race from this catastrophic consequences of early death!
