PunterTim: It beats me atimes when peeps get affected by this!.Why would i be concerned when someone insults my skin color. There is absolutely nothing wrong with me being black and the whole world knows it,why should i be bothered.
I'm sorry but peeps that these things get to are fragile, weak emotionally and psychologically! I agree with u but for ur last sentence. There is none to blame if one feels emotionally challenged after such an event. Its understandable cos if u've never experienced it u wont understand it. Such lessons are hard learnt but the rebound reactions from the sufferers are the problems. After my experience I was down for a while, depressed cos I am a professional but was treated as a cleaner. I became aggrieved and my depression took a manic turn so I became arrogant and attacked any person I perceived looked down at me. From experience I have realised there is nothing wrong with being black, infact its the exact opposite, something to be proud off. When I realised that reactions to their hateful stares changed and I started walking with swag, that was when I actually noticed that the reason they tried to put me down, tried to make the devil of me, made me suffer was cos they believed they were better than me. They were convinced I was of no good and will come of no good. I made then a silent resolve within myself to disprove that misnomer cos I knew who I was and I knew if given the same opportunity they had I was going to be better, infact I knew I was better than them. It was obvious they felt threatened by my presence cos they got uncomfortable anytime I was nearby. I had a ball in that firm after realisation came to me. I was like a star cos I was the only black person there, everyone knew me but my job situation didn't improve. Anyway that was years ago. Racism is real, I have seen it in several colours. Funny I am returning to that firm in a few months but now not as a cleaner but an external consultant similar to a director's position. A lot of people are going to go crazy. |

omongbatim: They have a teenage daughter, 12 years old. She is very smart (academically), topping her class and in several US national exams at the 90 percentile. But that is where it ends. Attitudinally she would be at the 40 percentile. She is disobedient to her parents and her teachers. She is naïve about life and how hard it is to go far in life with an attitude that puts other people off. She is talkative (show off) and disruptive, always drawing attention to herself.
Here are some additional details about the kid:
American Born Facially cute Never been to Nigeria Only daughter First of three children Parents are upper middle-class and practically dot on her as an only daughter She is provided with virtually anything she asks for. This has led to some level of vanity in her lifestyle. Both parents suggest that they have had reasons to exhibit pride at some point in their lives - for different reasons - but never allowed that get into their heads. They hope her undesirable attitude is not an inherent thing, but one borne out of the biological life stage she is in now.
Please advise!!! How can the parents help her from self-destructing? As you may know, physical discipline (flogging, etc) is out of the question. This is America, not Nigeria. Take her to Nigeria and flog her there |

Can men please make me understand their undying need to control another living, breathing, adult human being with brains who has the capacity to reason? Do they think it's that easy to follow someone's every other without thinking of self? Like, I don't get it. What do you gain? I don't support killing ur spouse cos of cheap things like control but I see u are getting the stuff wrong. I think its more than that. I think the problem emanates from both people involved. Just months back a NLer posted a story of a woman that turned her husband into their house boy just cos she was the bread winner. I keep telling men who are too hard on their wife that if the case is turned around don't they think their wife would be hard on them? The problem is that people always want to do back, "vengeance is mine" says the lord but most couples forget that. I know a man who has 5 children and was collecting social money on the kids for years before the wife challenged it in court after she was adviced by her click of friends to do so. When she found out she had won she sued for divorce and completely wipped the man out without out pity. When asked why she cited all the atrocities and hardship she bore under the man. |

Curvinus: Yeah, some may mess me up and treat me like kindergarten, but there is nothing that says they must be nice to me or that we must remain together as friends.Once I notice things are veering towards that direction I take a walk and advise them to do the same. The girls I'm with are at their best behaviour when they come around. Some are for validation. Others, for entertainment. We pay our dues and we roll.
But believe me when I say Joy was something otherworldly. In the scale of 1 - 10, I'd rate her 8 and half as she just ticked all the boxes and couldn't walk 10 yards without men ogling at her. As a result, she had so many choices and we just couldn't connect on an emotional level. I met her while she was still very young but she blossomed to become a very charming damsel. Sadly, after so many rebounds, I finally let her walk for my own peace.
As for the piss above you called lecture, I really have no idea what you mean by being "wussy", but maybe you need to try leaving the basement every once in a while to see the reality for what it really is, as opposed to spending too much time on pickup materials.
And while you are it, please, lose that mentality about being playful and vocal - I assume you are trying to say holding frame - in order to have sex. For how long do you intend to keep up with that manipulative behavior? At any rate, manipulation has very little or no effect on the neurotransmitters which predetermines how people respond to you in the first place. If you hold frame, they may respect or try not to mess with you. But this not the same as being desired. If you got what a girl wants, she'll have raw desire for you and would be at her best to please you. But if you don't, she'll see you for the scam you really are, no matter how many levels of facade you try to put up.
Lastly, for your own sanity, you need to see acceptance and rejection as normal a part of life and not try to stop this from happening through crude manipulative behaviours. Like the way u cut him to size gently. He was really quite annoying with his comments wasn't he? |

gidgiddy: You are ignorant. A confederation is just an extreme form of federalism and the UK is not a confederation. None of the the four regions that make up the UK are independent, rather, they have a high degree of autonomy. The four regions all pledge allegiance to the queen, all four are under a central British prime minister, all 4 are under the same armed forces. So how are they independent? If they were independent, why did Scotland need a referendum? What Britain is practicing now is not far from what Nigeria practiced in the 60's when there was the Eastern Region that had its own flag, it's own premier and so on. An example of a real confederation in the EU where 27 independent nations came together as one political and economic unit.
But not to deviate from what I was saying. Nigeria is the illegal creation of the White man. And because of that, regardless of what system of Governance Nigeria practices, the sovereignty of the ethnic nationalties that was stolen by Lugard and the British to create Nigeria must be returned. Lugard has gone back home, so why are you still calling me a Nigerian? What name was answering before Lugard came? The Government must use the democratic instrument of referendum separate those who want carry on with the dream of Lugard (Nigerians) and those who wish to pursue a different dream.
It's either that or the Governement goes and brings Lugard to tell us who and who he consulted when he he was adding us to Nigerian experiment Pls ur statements scream of ignorance and misinformation. I won't bother correcting ur rants on Biafra and Nigeria but will only state for people who are not aware. Ireland has a prime minister. And if anything has changed itz that Nigeria is more prepared to crush any attempts to secede True talk, I give u that but u forget that everyone knows full scale all out war would not be fought in the North or West but on the streets of the heartlands in their homes and on igbo soil. Any fool knows that, that is why the clamour for war is irrational and only an agitation. By the way, thats why Biafra war was lost, pls check history and confirm. Then again there are many other types war that doesn't use direct approach and are very successful e.g the ND crippling the Nigerian economy that is mostly oil dependent among other things. I don't by the way support that method either cos one doesn't shit where one feeds. Then again most igbos I have spoken to, many support that cause and would to lengths to achieve it but have other ideas of how to do it. |

For u to say "ask the Germans about world war 1&2" in this context shows u completely misunderstood the events of the world war and that of the biafra war. If u want I could post for u a link completely detailing both information so u can study it. On my part my comment on this issue is this: Until the igbos learn to identify their problems and learn to solve them themselves that agitation for Biafra would remain only an agitation. There are many young igbo boys living outside Nigeria who will drop all they are doing at the first instance and return home for such a cause but they are yet to see the seriousness of their fellows at the homefront. |

EdifiedCEO: Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed a bill which makes it mandatory for all intending couples to undergo test for HIV/AIDs, twice, in the last three months, before marriage is contracted.
Making this known at yesterday’s plenary, Chairman of the Committee on the control of HIV/AIDs, Ibrahim Suleman Gwiwa, noted that the bill intended to provide free and compulsory HIV/AID test before marriage, as well prohibit all forms of discrimination and stigmatisation against people living with the virus.
Gwiwa said the bill became imperative following the widespread of the killer disease among couples in the state.
He explained that in the bill, Sharia and Magistrate Courts would have jurisdiction to try HIV/AIDs related offences and added that, on the other hand, Association for People living with HIV/AIDs and State Agency for the Control of AIDs would be deployed for enforcement at all levels.
“Intending couples should submit themselves together to the same facility and the result should be open to them by the counsellor at the same time.
“Tests should be done twice, three months and two weeks to the marriage and the bill indicates that Shariah and Magistrate Courts in the state have jurisdiction to try offences under the law.”

PortHakotTimes: Wednesday 12 October, 2016
Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora spoke to Nigeria Canadians in Toronto through a town hall meeting organized by the Nigeria Canadian Association (NCA) on September 8th, 2016. The acting Nigeria high commissioner was there too with his entourage.
Abike Dabiri as you may know was a radio host at Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) and because of this, she was a familiar face when she arrived in a very simple dress typical of North American leaders. Canada being the most secure country in the world, you can walk around with free mind. Most attendees of the town hall meeting were expecting to see Lai Mohammed, the minister of Information and culture at the event but was instead represented by Abike Dabiri.
We would guess that either because of the timing of the town hall meeting or the lack of interest in Nigerian affairs , most Nigerians in Toronto could not attend the event thus leading to lots of empty seats at the venue. Kudos to the NCA president, Chidi Nwanwanwu for sticking through thick and thin to organize the event.
Just before the opening speech started, members of the Indigenous people of Biafra IPOB stormed the venue with their placards moving to and across the high table where the dignitaries were sitting. The acting Nigeria High commissioner sitting next to Abike Dabiri developed a cold feet. You could see him speak to one of his aids to call for security. You would also expect that Abike will fall off her chair but she summoned enough courage to address the Biafrans in the most pacifying voice that made the difference the rest of the evening.
“Gentlemen, please sit down. Put your placard away, I understand how you feel, I promise you we will discuss all issues in detail tonight” She said.
The IPOB members that attended were not expecting any accommodating statement from a Nigerian paid government official given ongoing Biafran killings in the South East Nigeria and the position of the Nigerian government on Biafra issues and the quest for Biafra referendum. From the look on their faces (IPOB), you could feel that they were prepared to disrupt the event of the evening but alas, Abike’s manner of approach melted their intentions and they accepted to take their seats. Here is snap shot of the look on their faces:
You could also see that the Acting high commissioner was not comfortable with the new developments. Abike Dabiri may have applied her experience dealing with public at Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). News casters can deliver the most agonizing news in very calm and appealing manner. She took control of the night, ensured that the Biafrans put away their placards so that it doesn’t appear on the camera.
The first drama of the night started when the moderator of the town hall presented the order of events for the night which included that Abike will only take questions that were submitted in advance of the town hall and also that he will read the questions on behalf of the submitters to ensure that the questions are managed effectively.
Abike Dabiri Taking Questions from the Biafrans in Toronto
People have already drawn from history that most moderators of political events manipulate the questions in favor of the politicians. As a result, Biafrans disagreed with this approach and insisted that they also have questions that the Nigerian government must answer and that Abike must allow them to table their questions in their own words. This took another 5 minutes of shouting and disagreements between people from different political divides. But again, Abike Dabiri took control of the town hall confirming that the Biafrans or anyone that has already sent their questions can ask their questions in their own words directly to her. She also promised that she will take questions directly from the attendees. This is another surprising anger management strategy and leadership skill that Abike Dabiri employed knowing how volatile and tensed the environment can become.
While the situation has calmed down, she began her prepared speech:
As expected, the Special assistant delivered a good speech praising and eulogizing the president Buhari administration on, according to her, “the good plan he has for Nigeria”. She called on Nigerians in Diaspora to support the Buhari administration because “He is the only president that will not steal your money”.
She added that “The people in the Diaspora can help in improving the economy and we know how important you are to the nation. This is the time to bring the dollars home through the legal way ofcourse”.
She also noted that “Just in 2015, Nigerians in the Diaspora sent home $21 billion and this were just the ones that were accounted for formally, so you can see how important you are to the country.
The time to ask questions has come and you could feel in the hall the Yorubas and Hausas in the town hall were all speaking with one voice. They made every attempt to pretend that everything was going well in Nigeria and in the process attempt to shout down anyone that attempts to ask questions criticizing the government of Buhari. But the Biafrans in the meeting didn’t give them a free hand. They had already prepared what they called Questions for Buhari.
Aside from those asking “job/contract seeking questions”, the only direct questions that shook the town hall were from the Biafrans. What prevailed that night was that some Biafrans submitted high level questions but when they were called to ask the question, the updated their questions with strong Preambles and facts that made Abike Dabiri and the dignitaries very uncomfortable. You could hear the shouts of” Ask your question please” from the members of the other political divide”.

While non-Nigerians may doubt my assertion, till they manage to invent a popular version of English like we did (Pidgin English), they can keep on doubting. Although there are many awesome things Nigerians do, we do have some face palm moments. Don't laugh too hard at the five words Nigerians use that doesn't exist in the English dictionary:
1. Installmentally This doesn't exist anywhere else except only in Nigeria. If you doubt this, just search "Installmentally" on google and watch only Nigerian sites pop up.
2. Night-Vigil This is another one I don't understand. Does anyone ever hold a vigil during the day?
3. Disvirgin How hard is it to say deflowered? It must be extremely difficult because even health professionals and newsmen use this absurd word that doesn't exist.
4. Wake Keeping (Wake keep) Nigerians have not only made the old European custom of watching over a corpse till it's buried (called a wake) theirs, they have actually renamed it. Please, there is no such phrase as "wake keep" or even "wake keeping".
5. Cunny This is not meant as a euphemism for the female body part. When Nigerians say this word, they mean "cunning". How is that for a giant leap forward?

HungerBAD: Interesting.
I mean to me,you did everything right except for the Konga thing you paid for.
I do not know you,but a man has to be very principled about a lot of things in his life.
It is okay for a man to say "NO" without explaining why. If a lady orders something without telling me,I will not pay for it,as I will not only consider that insultive, but I will feel she is also taking my simplicity for stupidity.
To the OP, I feel you had a part to play in this girl wanting to take you for a ride too. Women are not stupid, and are good at sizing up guys, and if they sense you are the type that can be toyed with, then they will go in for the kill.
This has nothing to do with whether you live in Nigeria or not. You can still be in Nigeria, and a lot of women will still do the same thing to you, from the odd asking for recharge cards to asking you to pay their school fees,or like one asked my friend, build a house for her parents.
And the sad thing,Is that when you get to know who she is in love with,he would probably be some dude, who still lives with his parents/squatting some where, and whatever they get from you and other guys, they spend on him.
Lastly, you know Imo State has a reputation for not just being the State with the highest bride price in Nigeria. But that Owerri girls, are very money conscious and materialistic people.
Next time look for a Kogi,Benue,Plateau and Mostly Northern ladies. They are not materialistic, and honestly will not give you headache, and yes I am a Niger Deltan saying this.
No Ishilove, I am not cheating on you with any Northerner I swear. Guy u killed it. Guys make una dey learn let old men old in the game explain secrets to u. Ladies are very impressionable and will not hesitate once they know a guys is to be had. The girl first sized the OP up with that thing she bought on Konga and he fell by paying for it. That told her he wanted to go in fast and come out fast, from experience women prefer these kind of men cos they are mostly fun and nothing else. A woman may call a guy stingy but still have respect for him cos deep down in her mind she knows otherwise. OP u acted appropriate but for that thing on Kongo. I on my part would have sent her out of that room that night she started singing rubbish. Then again one who didnt spend time in owerri would not understand owerri girls as we did. |
