In a nigerian setting the ladies parent can only train the child if the father of the child is completely irresponsible. Since that is not the case here then I don't see it happening. When I saw the story it struck me like Deja vu cos I know someone it happened to in my set in uni. The guy was from north central and the girl was from igbo speaking parts of PH. The girls parents refused for more than 10 years. Their daughter refused anyone coming 4 her hand. She was not just a da but she was the only daughter. The girl met the guy in uni during her first degree she finished served and joined us in her second degree so she was not a child. By the way time we graduated was the 10 th year of their having to wait for her parents and as soon as we graduated she got pregnant 4 the guy. Everything went fast after then and they got married immediately.

See, when I took my wife to my parents. They called me on the side to question me and raised some questions about where her people come from. I just told em to first investigate her family and if they found something worrisome, I would listen to em. After the investigation they found nothing but still raised their problems cos they wanted me to marry from our place not just from our place but someone of their choosing. Someone they had hand picked.

I just told em and I quote "if u want to bring any person bring her. I will taste her and after am done. U can marry her since u want to marry from their family".

You wash your hand with warm water when you are about to eat any foood with your hand.

Most homes serve hot tea and coffee when they have visitors.

They have fire pots in pubs and clubs.

My host even had a small electric heater that looks like a box fan.

When you rub your dry palm against a dry textile, you will notice flashes of sparks.

Door knobs and bulglary proofs have low charges.

Am surprised it's that cold 4 u guys 4 temperatures just above 10 °C.

Well, this is not the worst case of cold I Jos, what I'm saying happened about 8 years ago. If you have people in Jos you re free to confirm. Heard that lots of soldiers posted to Pankshin that year froze to death after bathing with cold water. And you're saying people don't freeze to death when temperature goes south of zero have you forgotten how many people froze to their death in Canada about 4 years ago when they experienced such? They are indigenes and did not bath with cold water o! Now , tell me that someone that bath with cold water at 6° won't freeze to death. When the atmospheric temperature is 7° do you believe that water will be less than that? It happened bro ask anyone in jos

But that's the point. U just made my point 4 me. The people in Canada that froze to death did so cos temperature fell to under -15 °C, now that I can understand. But in jos where the coldest temp is normally above 10 °C, I find it hard to stomach but then again it's ur opinion.

Under 10°C and u are complaining that people are freezing. Are u well at all? We all know water does not freeze till temperature drops to under 4°C and below. The Jos Plateau is the largest plateau in Nigeria and owing to its elevation, Jos is the coldest city in Nigeria (about the temperature of California, USA) for example, the temperature here now us about 15°C and it has gone south of 10°C at a point in this winter (Yes it is better referred to as winter, this one don pass ordinary harmattan) Because of this cold weather, people usually does some things that would be considered wild by Lagos standards. I present to you below, a few of
them.

1. Boiling water to brush teeth or do dishes:

Some people actually boil the water they wanted to use for brushing Their teeth or do their dishes because ordinary water will be freezing cold and coupled with the freezing breeze is a no no

2. Ladies wearing socks on ANYTHING they wore:

It is not uncommon seeing 'Big girls' wearing socks on office suits and skirts, even after dressing for an owanbe party, socks and gloves were freely worn on the Ankara and lace attires. In short, their is no dressing that's weird here, anything goes
PS: Weird dressing doesn't exclude men too o! I saw a man yesterday that wore a sweater over his shirt before putting on the suit jacket

3. Purposely Staying under the sun:

You'll see people intentionally staying under the sun as soon as it comes out just to feel the warmth of the greatest source of energy.

4. Bathing with boiled water:

I dare say that there is nobody I mean NOBODY in this Jos that has the effrontery to bath with ordinary water as history has it that some people actually froze to their death when they tried it in times past.

5. Putting on electric stove in the bedroom:

because of the unusual cold, some people will put on the electric stove at night just so they can be warm throughout the night.

6. Sleeping with more than two pieces of clothing on:

Its a common thing if people slept dressing like an astronaut, I mean with two trousers, two shirts, one Cardigan, head warmer and hear muffs, Hand gloves and socks all under a cover cloth/duvet! Lil!

Commercial sex workers in the country under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes, NANP, have thrown their weight behind the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
NANP said it would declare a-three day free sex across the country if president Jonathan eventually loses the seat to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of APC.
Recall that the group had in 2013 declared one-week free sex after the Super Eagles defeated Burkina Faso to lift the AFCON trophy after almost 20 years.
A statement signed by the group’s General Secretary, Jessica Elvis noted that NANP was not happy with Jonathan’s government over the way commercial sex workers were being treated in the country since he assumed office as the first citizen.
It described Jonathan’s government as the worst in the history of Nigeria, saying that it recorded the lowest income during his tenure.
The statement also quoted Elvis as saying that several approaches to the presidency to legalize prostitution were turned down.
DAILY POST recalls that a female prostitute, Patoo Abraham last year led protests in Lagos to seek a better place for prostitutes in Nigeria.
Abraham who heads the Nigerian chapter of African Sex Workers Alliance (ASWA) and the Women of Power Initiative (WOPI), led the protests with demonstrators wearing T-shirts screaming “Sex work is work, we need our rights”.
“We are tired of dying in silence; we want to be able to practice our profession with pride like every other person. We want an end to name-calling and stigmatisation. We are sex workers and not asawo [a derogatory Yoruba name for prostitutes]”, She told Aljazeera.
“Sex work is normal work and there are sex workers everywhere under one form of disguise or the other. The government should stop criminalising our work”, she further said.
Backing Abraham’s point, Elvis said for failing to legalize prostitution, the group would not support Jonathan for a second term.
“We sent a proposal to the government in March 2, 2012, almost a year after Jonathan was fully elected as president of Nigeria on the need to legalize prostitution. That was when our late president, Micah Ejoyo was alive, but the presidency rather declared war on us by arresting some members on the street of Abuja.
“Most of them are students who are using the job to pursue their education. We all cannot work in Aso Rock, NNPC or Shell. We don’t rob people. We are using our endowment to fend for ourselves. We deserve to be respected. Enough of this hypocrisy because even Jonathan and his team are not saints.”
Speaking further, the statement as obtained by DAILY POST on Friday enjoined all members of the association to come out en mass come February 14 to vote out Jonathan from Aso Rock.
“We are calling on all our members and every Nigerian in particular to join the march. No to Jonathan! Because under Jonathan’s government, we lost over 400 members in the north to the Boko Haram insurgency and we are not ready to lose anybody again. We would be declaring a three-day free sex if God eventually sends Jonathan out of Aso Rock. You can count on us. We did it before and we can do it again. Enough is enough,” the statement added.

The Senate Committee probing the management of pension funds on Wednesday adjourned its sitting indefinitely.

Chairman of the committee, Senator Aloysius Etok, who announced the indefinite adjournment of the committee, blamed the measure on the frustration members of the committee have suffered due to the continued absence of the Chairman, Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Dr. Abdulrasheed Maina.

But while members of the Senate committee were waiting for Maina, the PRTT boss was said to be busy addressing his supporters who stormed the National Assembly gate in their numbers.

Apart from Maina’s supporters who carried various forms of placards, another group also protested the continued stay of Maina as PRTT boss.

It was very difficult for Senators and House of Representatives members to gain access into the National Assembly Complex due to the large number of protesters.

Some of the lawmakers made a decoy to follow the Aso Rock Villa gate to enter the National Assembly.

While some of the protesters shouted the praises of Maina and asked the Senate to leave him alone, others demanded the immediate removal of Maina as chairman of PRTT.

Some of the placards read: Leave Maina alone, Maina is a good man, Maina has saved pensioners, Maina has done what nobody could before him, the Senate committee has been bought over by pension thieves.

Etok, who could not hide his anger over Maina’s alleged disrespect for his committee complained that even the Inspector- General of Police who was mandated to bring him to the National Assembly failed to comply with the order.

He said, “We have been here and believing that we want to give the Acting Director of Customs, Immigration and Prison Pension Office (CIPPO), Abdulrasheed Maina fair hearing.

“Because we have been sitting and adjourning for the sake of making sure he is here so that we can give him fair hearing because in the other pension public hearing he said he did not have fair hearing.

“Today we have been here and we have kept these people waiting for one hour and incidentally the Inspector General of Police is not here.

“The Senate under the leadership of the Senate President issued a warrant of arrest and directed the IGP to present and compel Maina’s appearance before this committee by 12 O’clock today.

“We have been waiting here for more than one hour and we have not seen him.

“Today we are not going to waste your time and since we have promised we want to make sure we give him fair hearing.

“After due consultation with members of this committee, we have decided to adjourn this sitting indefinitely.”

The Co- Chairman of the committee, Senator Kabiru Gaya, also expressed frustration.

Gaya said, “I have information from the police that Maina is at the gate addressing his supporters instead of coming here.

“We wanted him to be here. So the committee will decide what to do.

“One thing is that we have been honest and sincere. We want to put it on record. God knows we have tried. We leave him to God.”

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, said on Tuesday that Nigerians would be shocked if told about the mind-boggling corruption perpetrated by the current leadership in the country.
The Speaker, who stated this at the formal inauguration campaign of the APC presidential candidate in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, lamented that Nigeria does not deserve the leadership it has at this time.
He said it was one of the reasons he dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, last October for the APC.
Mr. Tambuwal, who is the governorship candidate of the APC in Sokoto State in the February 28 election, said the mindboggling information on the rot in the country was obtained by the House during its oversight functions.
“I am impressed by what I am seeing here today. This is a clear testimony that Rivers and indeed the good people of Nigeria will come out en masse and overwhelmingly vote the candidates of the APC,” he said.
“When I defected to the APC, many people were surprised that how can I leave a ruling party to an opposition party?
“On the privileged position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives that I presided over for three and half years, we oversaw the current government and what we saw and what we are still seeing is mind-boggling and from the information available to us, we don’t deserve the current type of leadership that we have at the centre and Nigeria deserves better leadership as is by the grace of God and will be exemplified by General Muhammadu Buhari. His records speak for him.”
The Speaker said the country would develop faster with the opposition APC than with the ruling PDP, noting that the Jonathan-led administration was not serious about governance.
Also speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the APC, John Oyegun expressed joy with the election of Mr. of Buhari as the APC presidential candidate.
He said the candidate was deliberately chosen to move the country forward.
Mr. Oyegun reeled out Mr. Buhari’s achievements to include his fight against corruption and indiscipline in Nigeria which he said during his (Buhari) administration sanitized most Nigerians.
“Train of change is setting out from Rivers State. Great people of Rivers State (and Nigeria) are you happy, who is your president – Buhari, the crowd chorused. Let me present to you the President-in-waiting in Federal Republic of Nigeria. Do you want electricity, do you want better security, do you want to wipe out corruption?” he said.
“Then, take a good look at General Buhari. He is as straight in character as his figure is in figurative terms.
Take a look at his vice. These two people were deliberately chosen. Gen. Buhari was ahead of his time. His time has finally come. If you want corruption wiped out, who do you vote for? (Buhari, crowd chorused). If you want discipline in this country, who do you vote for? (Buhari, the crowd again chorused)”.
While urging Nigerians to vote for the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Oyegun also urged Rivers people to vote at the state level for the APC gubernatorial candidate, Dakuku Peterside.
During the flag-off, party governorship flag was presented to Mr. Peterside, confirming him as the party’s governorship candidate in Rivers State for the upcoming governorship poll.
Also before the presidential campaign flag-off, the APC unveiled its campaign team structure with Mr. Buhari as campaign chairman nationwide and his vice presidential running mate, Prof. Osibanjo as vice chairman.
Others include the governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi as the Director-General of presidential campaign organization with two deputy directors-general whose names are yet to be revealed.
Others were a vice chairman for the North and South respectively with Zonal Coordinators who are APC State Governors across the country.
Some of those in attendance included, Chris Ngige, Nasir El-Rufai, Audu Ogbe, former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Tony Momoh and Governors Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State and Ibikunle Amosun.
