eye4eye: In U.S, senators and House of reps. members don't get official vehicles or official residence from the government. They pay for everything they need from their salaries. As a matter of fact, some of these senators share accomodation with their colleagues. I know of Senator Schumer and Senator Durbin who live together in rented apartment in Washington D.C.

Government pays for everything in Nigeria; including clothing allowance, hardship allowance, drivers allowance, domestic servant allowance etc.
