Politics › I Was Misunderstood - Akpabio: Was He? by drnoel(op): 11:35am On Apr 20, 2013
The Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr Godswill Akpabio has claimed that he was misunderstood for his recent confession that he struck out the name of a Senatorial candidate for Senator Etuk during the 2011 general election.

“What happened was, we had a political meeting before the primaries where the list of people were given to me-possible candidates for the Senate in my senatorial district. And I struck off the name of the person that was recommended to me and I said no that, I will prefer another person because the senatorial seat should be zoned to the minority local government.”

The governor emphasised that the name substitution was “before the primaries, long before the general election.”

A 48 seconds video which was uploaded on the internet, went viral as the Governor was seen during a reception for the Good Governance tour in Uyo, admitting that he struck out the name of a candidate in favour of Senator Aloysius Etuk, the current chairman of Senate committee on Chairman, Pension Reform Task Team; so that his Senatorial district can produce the Senate.

Further explaining the situation around the cancelling of name, Mr Akpabio described it as a “political meeting.”

“It was a political conglomeration where we converge and discuss the affair of who should contest the Senate within the rank and file of an in-house arrangement before the primaries,” he said.

He emphasised that the ‘political conglomeration’ was “before the PDP primaries” and we were trying to decide who we should vote for and what area we should vote.”

“And somebody needs to know, this was not a general elction, not even a primary. It was not even an election we were talking about.”

When asked if the meeting was an internal arrangement, the Governor replied with an emphatic no. “It was before the voting where we were trying to decide who we will vote for at the primaries.”

“I am not INEC, even INEC cannot strike out somebody’s name and put another person’s name after an election result has been announced.”

A bemused Akpabio further stated that “Nigerians do not like to hear the truth” as he claimed he made
“Tell the admirers of the uncommon transformation (his administration’s motto), tell the admirers of Governor Akpabio that the governor is a democrat. I will never engage in that type of thing.”

The Governor also claimed that in 2007 he struggled to get the mandate for his election therefore, he was in no way capable of sticking out names.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AbmkkE1H6Kk

Pls watch the video again. His words were and I quote "I personally stroke out the name of the person that won the election and I produced Senator Aloysius. That is where he comes from". Now that statement is as crystal clear as black and white. No need telling us he was misunderstood cos we understood him very well. It tells u how silly Nigerian politics is, when a serving governor has the power to remove the name of someone that won an election.
Politics › Meth Labs Now In Nigeria: Is This A New Trend!!! by drnoel(op): 10:00am On Apr 20, 2013
Authorities in Lagos have discovered the fifth illegal methamphetamine production centre in just one year, deepening fears Nigeria is a narcotics hub and part of a worldwide network.

The anti-drugs agency says the West African country is producing meth on a large scale.

The highly addictive drug is known by several names, including meth, ice and crystal. It is usually injected, but it can also be smoked or inhaled.
Mild doses can increase alertness and concentration, but high doses can cause psychological problems including paranoia and hallucinations.
Nigeria used to be a transit point through which illegal drugs from Mexico passed on their way to Europe.
Mitchell Ofojeyu, a spokesman for the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, said: "They have an international network because they're bringing in Bolivians into West Africa to produce Methamphetamine; [it] shows the synergy the drug cells in West Africa have with their counterparts in other regions of the world."
In an exclusive report, Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow visits the lab where the methods of concealment for the drug dealers are as diverse as the narcotics they traffic.
Reporting from Lagos, Adow said: "While manufacturing drugs is a new phenomenon in Nigeria using it as a trafficking hub is not."

rokiatu: Take my advice and chill about the marriage thing unless you want to scare him away.

As long as you are happy in this relationship, keep it that way till he finally ask you. Marriage is not the ultimate pathway to happiness.
@Rokiatu am disappointed in u. There is no how a lady would scare a man that accepts within himself that he wants to wed. Well on second note u shouldn't know that cos u are a woman. Men don't scare that easily when it is clear to them that they want something. The problem is if they don't know yet what it is they want. If its clear to them that this is what they want but don't know how to go by it a wedding ring make shock them out of their day dreaming. It may also do the opposite (scare them away). Look, u know ur man, so no one should tell u how to handle him.
U could just coyly introduce being together, family, children, forever e.t.c into all ur conversations till he gets the idea. Believe me, if its u them he will definitely come arnd without ur having to buy a ring.

My wife thought whe was being very wise when she kept doing those things a year ago. I got her point the first few months she started it but decided to pay her back in her own coin, so kept quite just to see if she owuld come up with anything new. She really go fraustrated after sometime (I had fun watching her fraustration) but one day she asked me plainly and I surprised her by telling her I knew and saw what she had been doing and saying and hinting. U should have seen her face then, i then asked her to if she wanted to wed. The rest is history.

Its not the best and it causes complications..

I have this friend who is an architect/contarctor and had this very sweety ajebutter damsel he was dating then. She was so carzy about him that she comes all the way from seattle to him in PH where he stays 3-4 times a year depending on her programmes. Funny enough she introduced him to one of her uncles like that what was in PH government cos he was looking 4 contracts at that time but the Oga's PA kept blocking the job with conditions that he starts dating her. This was cos when he met the man for the first time, the PA explicitely asked what his relationship with the gf was and he said they were very good friends. She asked again "are u dating her and he said no". Anyway the relationship almost scattered when the gf found out. He didn't get contract though cos the man's PA made sure of that.

Fashion › African Women Who Tattoo Their Gums Black For A More Beautiful Smile (VIDEO) by drnoel(op): 4:21pm On Apr 18, 2013
There's a new page in the ever-growing book of bizarre beauty procedures. Joining the list of treatments like extreme butt implants and Japan's "bagel heads" comes gum tattooing. More specifically, tattooing your gums black to achieve a more beautiful smile.

While it may sound extreme to most, women in the country of Senegal have been doing it for years. The West African country inherited the custom from their ancestors and believe it will help women attract men. We're now learning about this unique beautification method thanks to a video that has surfaced following a young woman named Marième as she undergoes the procedure.

Although she's brave at first, Mariéme soon succumbs to the pain of the needles jabbing into her gums as they inject a black powder made of burnt oil and shea butter, only making it through four of the seven recommended layers of pigmentation.

"It hurts. I would never recommend this torture to anyone," she explains after the tattoo is finished.

Needless to say, the video is hard to watch. But the woman performing the tattoo explains its benefits:

GenBuhari: 23 March 1984  -  ITN News
BUHARI’S GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES “WAR AGAINST INDISCIPLINE”

Nigeria's military government is stepping-up its campaign against corruption, mismanagement and indiscipline at all levels in Nigeria society.

Preliminary hearings into corruption and abuse of office against former politicians and civil administrators have already begun and on March 21 the government launched its war against indiscipline.

One of the first areas under attack is Illegal Street trading in the capital Lagos. The military government of Major-General Buhari has promulgated a decree forbidding the street trading, a major source of income for many thousands of Lagos people. Police have already begun arresting street vendors and confiscating their wares.

The campaign is also designed to foster greater personal and social discipline with Nigerians being urged to queue for buses in an orderly fashion. The crackdown on indiscipline was announced by Brigadier Tunde Idiagbon, a member of the Nigerian Supreme Military Council.

BRIGADIER TUNDE IDIAGBON: "I want you to bear in mind the need to emphasise self-discipline and leadership by good example.
Begin by drawing public attention to little but important everyday manifestations of indiscipline such as rushing into buses, driving on the wrong side of the road, littering the streets, parks and dwelling compounds, cheating, taking undue advantage of scarcity to inflate prices for quick monetary gains, constituting ourselves into public nuisances, walking without commitment and devoting little or no time to the upbringing of our children.

Up to this moment there has been no formal declaration of war against indiscipline, it is my pleasure therefore to declare today a launching day for the war against indiscipline."

The Buhari administration identified indiscipline as the bane of the nation's ills and therefore decided to fight it in all its ramifications. Hence the pre-occupation of the regime was the launching of the different phases of the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) which has become a household word in may Nigerian homes. There were five phases of WAI, namely:-

a. Queuing (March 20, 1984)

b. Work Ethics (May 1, 1984)

c. Nationalism and Patriotism (August 21, 1984)

d. Anti-Corruption and Economic Sabotage (May 14, 1985)

e. Environmental Sanitation (July 29, 1985).

War against indiscipline was idiagbo's baby. That was why he "idiagbo" did most of the annoucements of that era covering those programmes. Buhari only sat on the fence and did what they asked him to do. Please Nigerians, let's not cloud judgement with sentiments. Call a spade a spade. Buhari is no go, there is no way he would rule nigeria.

sometimes i wish he could be given like 1 yr trial period to rule Nigeria.
because he has cried enough,
sometimes he crys as though the transformation of Nigeria only lies in his hands
Sorry, no trial period for anyone esp buhari. We want effective positive changes not progressive regressive changes. Buhari does not not have it. He does not have what it takes to rule cos he is very myopic in his northern mentality. He will destroy what has not yet being destroyed in the country if he rules, just like IBB scattered our economy.

Romance › Re: Can You Suddenly Stop Loving Someone??? by drnoel: 1:34pm On Apr 17, 2013
Yomii: i can summarise all what you've just said in one word "Destiny". You don't need to struggle to love someone. You love with ease. I was once in it. I woke one morning and i told my ex baby gal that let's quit. Just like that!
That kind of reaction is a spill over of having to deal with the person many 4k ups. U can just suddenly stop loving someone only if u were never in love with the person in the first place. Love just doesn't come like that. Since u can't just fall in love with someone like that (the one they call animal attraction) it follows that u just can't fall out of love too, just Like that. Something, series of events would normally precede the decision to stop loving someone and its takes sometime to decide that.
