abuhusna1: Sometimes fathers do things coded without informing anyone but mothers. They will let you know who did what. If you check deep down you will discover your father was instrumental to your success. He gave you shelter, security and food, moreso he made you know how to be man by not giving you everything The father failed in his duties. This child succeeded in spite of the disadvantage the father gave him. It is one thing if the father didn't have. |

Family › Re: How Do I Clear This Guilt Against My Dad? by Druss(m): 6:20pm On Jan 23, 2024 |
Mercylike: Growing up with my family, I grew up not liking my dad but liking my mother so much that I can go to the extreme for her. It all started like this;
While we were growing, my dad having like 2 wives never really cared about us. Not even our steps siblings who are older than us. Their own even worse, they struggled and worked hard to get what the want with little or no help from our dad. Except for 1 or 2 out of 7 of them, the rest stopped at secondary school (public). My dad had no intention of being responsible for them.
Back to myself and my brother which are the only kids my mom gave my dad, he never still feels responsible.
Throughout my primary, secondary and tertiary years, I can't pinpoint one time that my dad bought sandal, cloth or anything for us. The only drug my dad has ever bought for us when we are seriously sick is paracetamol, even if we have serious sickness, he doesn't care. All he does is to call my mother to come take care of us (my mother doesn't stay fully with us because it won't even be convenient in such house with step mom but whenever she comes, she could spend a week).
Infact he was un-interested in sending us to school but thanks to my MOTHER. Though she didn't read well as she stopped as primary 5 or so but she said that she vow that she will train her children to school if they are ready to learn. Myself and my bro were ready to learn and my mom entered debts just to make sure we go to school. I could remember giving up when I gained admission, my dad already told us that he didn't send us to go to school ooo. I didn't know how my mother did it, she came home and gave me the acceptance fee and school fees with some other money. ( I cried before and after the incident, I don't know how this woman got this money but I'm sure she took loan).
Sometimes our step mom gets jealous thinking it was my dad that was doing those efforts for us but never did she know that all was my mom. I won't deny, dad contributed little but it was by force, begging his friends to plead to him to pay part of our school fee and all. But he is always boisterous of the fact that his sons are in school and all which angers me to see him boast with me especially.
Till now, I still don't feel responsible for my dad well-being. I have tried adjusting myself to loving him well but I can't. I just like him and respect him as a father but for my mom, I will do anything for her. I will go hungry for her, I will starve for her.
Nairalanders, it's being like 3 or 4 years I went to see my dad even though his place is not too far from me. He has been calling me several times that he wants to see me but I have always told him that I don't have time.
My problem is, my dad has never changed.. He is always concerned about himself, all he ask is money. He hardly calls to check up, except when he need money. Since I started working, I have never defaulted in sending him money every month but I send my mother 3 times or even 4 times what I send my dad. After all, he has our step brothers and sisters he can always ask for money. So I don't really care about him.
One statement he usually makes since we were small "Go and meet your mother". He doesn't feel responsible for our needs, all na our mother. Though he gives us daily feeding while we were growing and living under him but thanks to my mother that pays food vendors around to give us food whenever we are hungry because my dad doesn't give us enough.
Many stories but I can't say all...
Nairalanders, I still feel guilty as to why I don't like him. It feels like I have not forgiven him but to be honest, I have no issue with him.
How can I free myself from this guilt? I sympathise with you on your experience. Forgiving him doesn't mean that you give him everything he asks or that you have to like him. Only give what you can. It is good that you do somethings for him. |

A man prophesies to people that their colleagues will come to them for food. There is more than one way to look at this prophecy. I refuse to throw insults at a person because of such statements. It is unbecoming of a gentleman.
Also note that I have heard his man preach at times and he is very consistent that people must work and study hard to be successful. |

Seun: Fellow Nairalanders,
I hereby declare a total war against name checkers on Nairaland.
Anyone who draws attention to the tribe of a criminal on a thread about a crime will be banned. This applies regardless of whether they do it overtly or covertly. Every offender will collect a ban because this is regarded as a tribal insult.
The minimum ban period is 14 days. If you have offended multiple times, it's 30 days. If you keep offending, you may be permanently banned.
- Seun Osewa.
PS: I've just made a communication breakthrough with the moderators on this issue. I expect results. About time. For those of us seeking such moves in other areas. The journey is not a day's work. One step at a time. The twin ugliness of tribalism and ethnic baiting should be combatted and met head on. Zero Tolerance. |

The challenges were enormous and unsurmountable, from NURTW to LASTMA, the Taskforce, and the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation. It was like everyone wanted us to fail for a reason best known to them. We suddenly realized that the NURTW is more powerful than we thought. Their unholy romance with the Lagos Government makes them believe they can get away with anything.
At a point, over 20% of our daily revenue was going to the NURTW, and we still couldn’t operate without unnecessary interruption. There were days our buses were impounded for hours with passengers inside, and we had to make huge payments before the buses were released. Not to mention the number of times our drivers were assaulted and our buses vandalized by faceless members of the union. The police couldn’t do anything after we made several reports on the incidents. Serious yarns |

Zico5: What was he doing with the girl in the first place if he knew he would not marry her. You were having sex with the girl u knew u won't marry without protection. Who do u want to leave her for after impregnating her. Some men don't have sense. Better go and pray cos the curse of these girls is potent. Nothing will happen to him. They both made a consensual decision to have sex without protection. She bore the more risk. Reminds me of one of my female friends who wanted me to make her pregnant so we could elope. Thank GOD for grace. The relationship ended. |
Romance › Re: Reply From The Guy Whose Claim To Jilt A Girl On His Wedding Day!! by Druss(m): 11:16am On Dec 30, 2023 |
papyjaypaul: Men should start setting standards by protecting women. Real men stand up for women who their brothas will wife, they protect them when they go rogue because they are sistas. Standard is NOT impregnating a girl you are not married to. It's not leaving kids as b@$$tards and orphans while you are alive. That's a deadbeat man who gat no standard You ever tried giving a female advice on men? Especially when you know the man doesn't have good intentions in the long run? There are enough war stories on this. The lady knows what she wanted. She wasn't raped and it seems to have been a consensual agreement. She made a conscious and adult decision to sleep with a man and be at risk of being pregnant. He made a conscious decision to have sex and vamoose from the relationship. I don't approve of either's decisions. They made their bed. The future is still up to them. |

SmartyPants: I hope we will also accept positive reports from Bloomberg too?
In any case, I have scrutinised the article and reject its conclusions. The projection of a weak naira is based on a projected inability to attract fresh foreign investment due to inflation.
This will mean a lower or stable inflow of fx.
However, this does not take into account the projected boost in oil exports and elimination of oil imports with the revival of local refining. I will align myself with JP Morgan's, Moody's, and Bismark Rewane's projection of a strengthened naira in 2024.
Interestingly, Bloomberg has not gotten a single prediction on Nigeria correct - at least, not in the past 12 months. We pray the naira gets stronger. However I advise you to hedge your bets. As long as you have insecurity and other factors which affect the logistics of food and free movement of Nigerians, nothing go shele. Only the will of GOD can make things happen without the right foundation. |

letstalksense: There is this lady I plan to marry, which I have made known to her already even before she travelled for her NYSC. Although she just came back from NYSC service recently. We are just discussing the way forward and on the process I was asking her about her sexual life and how recently she had sex. After insisting for her to answer. She opened up and told me she had a sexual relationship during her NYSC service. And the reason was because I didn't call her at a particular time so she thought I have find anther woman. And that was when I was having some personal challenges. According to her, they ended the sexual relationship in the camp. That she is sorry and all that. I didn't really expect that attitude from her as she seem to look responsible and Godlily. I was just disappointed even though I pretended like everything is well. And I was also thinking she had the courage to tell me the true.
Now I have to make my decision, but needs a matured advise and guidance from a mature mind please.
Do think I should continue my marriage plan with her?
Pease what do you advise I do?
Thanks in advance. Up to you mate. Each of us have different interests. A few items of interest 1. Do you have peace of mind when you think about her having sex in camp? Can you forgive her? 2. She isn't taking responsibility for her actions. She is somewhat pining it on you still. 3. How are you sure she was only in that sexual activity? Sex in camp tbh is something that I believe is for indisciplined people to do i.e., people without self control and respect. 4. He without sin should throw the first stone. |
