nicekeno: Dual Core, And if you claim to know all these, let me have a link to a site u designed single handedly...Me, send you link to a site I have done. I dey mad? When did Super Eagles start plyaing ball with Super Falcons? nicekeno: Dual Core, just for ur info. We handle those stuffs u mentioned. If u are interested in learning HTML, XHTML, HTML5, XML, JAVA, FRONTPAGE, PHOTOSHOP, DREAMWEAVER, PHP & MYSQL.Instead of wasting people's time creating half-baked web designers, why don't you spend that time keeping yourself in the oven so you are fully baked. Just a suggestion. Next time don't come here to make noise you cannot back up. |
Seun: and dhtml (when he's not high)ROTFL! I just spilled drink on my keypad ![]() |
What the hell do you mean you checked the site yourself? Its your freaking site, don't play kid games on us we have been here since 2006. What freaking sentiments? Don't take this personal but you have a lot to learn in web design so quit this publicity stunt and go back to the drawing board. Learn HTML, CSS and do yourself some good by hiring a graphic designer. Your "revamped" site needs a revamp. =========== WHOIS =========== Domain Name: MOUAUCEET.COM Registrant: Truex Access Resources Ikenna Ogbaraegbe ()nicekeno[at]yahoo[dot]com |
If John can solve difficult programming puzzles then John can learn whatever is needed for the job if he doesn't already know it. |
Weldone guys. OOP is the way forward. I personally do not like to change what isn't broken if I do not think the change will improve things. I over time, had written a lot of functions into a file and all I needed to do was include that file and my turnaround time is cut short in any project so I didn't see a real need for OOP but went on to learn it and use it. OOP even made me work faster. Everyone should try it. |
Sorry OP. He's not your BF so you can't be thinking of leaving him... you preggy for him too. Try to work things out, things won't come back to normal overnight so take things easy and as they come. Don't bother yourself much about what happened in that room because it really wouldn't help. You should call him to the table and give him a chance to explain. He's your best friend so you should know when he's lying. Assure him you'll appreciate the truth from him however bad it is and please keep to that assurance. If he opens up to you that he actually is cheating on you... don't flare up... talk to him about the need for both of you to seek help from your church, your elders or wherever you two know you can get help from. He's human and if things are what they seem like, it doesn't make him any less an imperfect human. Some of the married men who have posted on this thread do same, only they haven't been caught yet. Na who dem catch be thief and thief wey dem never catch go follow shout "thief thief". |
A friend just ask me now "Is Nairaland Still As Fascinating As It Was When It First Started?". My reply included: "if it was a company it would be filing for bankruptcy or acquisition". So, I have seen a couple of threads where Nairaland is being compared to Facebook. There are some similarities; Both sites were started as pet projects. . . only that one owner knew when to let the pet out of the cage. Both projects were started with the aim of bringing people together. Both projects were started up by young guys. . . one turned a billionaire, the other a Google "adsensaire" (for lack of a better word). Both projects may have started up vision-less. . . only that one owner had far-sight and created a vision. Facebook is already talking stocks, Nairaland... tribal locks. If there is FBML I don't see why there shouldn't have been NLML by now. ![]() Its clear this great forum has lost great value and I really don't see light at the end of the NairaTunnel if things continue the way they are. Let's give this guy some clues. He needs help but may not be able to ask...we understand the ego. So Nairalanders, if you owned the Nairaland forum: What would you have done with it when it still had more value? Then, now its in the mud what would you do to bring it out? Ideas, people... let's light our NairaBulbs No bashing the Admin or anyone please. Just ideas. Considering the rubbish that makes the homepage sometimes, one would Naturally think this would make the homepage but I won't put my money on that thought. |
I just wasted some bandwidth checking up your links. Guys, rather than make silly noises please read in silence and outdo your present capabilities. Nice "April Fool" thread though, it only came 2 days late. |
Good idea and keep on learning. |
Stop the insults, they are suspects and not criminals yet. If you were in their position you may have done worse or same. |
[quote author=*dhtml]The issue is not that i am jobless or something, i got lots of stuffs to do. But seriously, writing codes suck. Codes dont talk, they are just like typing stuffs. Interesting though, but very very boring. Earlier, i code out of fun, but now, i code just for the money. . . . and to maintain my name = DHTML[/quote]As interesting as the whole idea is, coding is the most boring addiction in my life right now. I think its so boring now becuase I know just what to code and how to code it. The interesting part was learning totally new things in my early stages. My drive now is my reputation before my clients and my passion. As for the money, that one comes into the loop naturally. |
I'll check back when your account is unsuspended. Nice domain though, its not easy to get your fullnames as domain these days. . . too many humans with too many namesakes. |
Thanks for the explanation slyr0x, dunno what I was thinking to expect escapes on the RHS. I did a test just now and fixed my confusion about escaping literals. |
brainpulse: Do you have a repeatative disorder? Its a Nairaland bug, its not the poster's fault. When you type and try to use any of the smileys or bbcodes in the middle of your post, it repeats the post from the begining to the last character before you inserted the smiley or bbcode. Its a known bug that whoever has not been able to (or has forgotten to) fix. |
Seun: When the color was changed yesterday, that was an April Fool's joke. The "uprising" is nothing to be proud about!Comments reserved. |
playmode: Sorry Seun ,will love to partake but 150Gs is not even half of what i charge to build my websites. If Waec needs a proper jamb website hosted on offshores with 99% uptime they should stop being stingy and let me know.I will also throw in a free mordern logo design because their current logo is beyond old school. You had the full rights to ignore the thread and move on with your life without having to make a post making yourself a loud mouth. Some people just make posts like their lives depended on it. |
[quote author=*dhtml]Any volunteer for the jscript way?[/quote]windows.location |
doncigalo: @dualcore How can a physically located dedicated server be more reliable than a cloud based one?? Thats not possible. I dont think your ever had the chance to use a cloud based server, cuz if you have, you would know the amount of redundancies that are implemented. Im talking about master-slave/master-master configurations in conjunction with a backup database that is based in another location (the backup process is even done via satellite), Im talking about standby generators (2 not even 1), Im talking about underground bunkers. Lets not forget the number of technicians, both database and network , that are looking after these systems 24/7/365 and even the security personnel as well. There are a gazzilion Cloud Vs. Dedi papers out there, grab one. I have things in the cloud and on the ground and I speak for my self and know what I am talking about regarding what's in the cloud and what's on the ground. People get swayed by the gimmicks thrown to them by the web hosting industry. I see beyond those gimmicks and tell it as it is. You really haven't seen stuff gotten lost in the cloud so you really won't appreciate staying on the ground. My views. |
Slyr0x: .htaccessIs there any reason why you escaped the . literal on the left hand side and didnt escape it on the right?RewriteEngine on I used to think it was mandatory to escape literals in regular expression (just like in PHP) but it doesn't seem mandatory in this. Infact I was thinking escaping literals in this case won't work. Netesy, we learn everyday ![]() |
dayhawk: @dualcore you are the only person to give a good answer because you sound like you understand the complexity behind complex systems. surely your data server architecture determines how master servers interact with slaves especially if you are restricted to a resource.I appreciate the time you have spent writing this and I like your logic. This may not work for very huge websites but it should work for JAMB. The only point of failure I see is if the servers are not much so the range given to rand() is so small it will almost always hit same number for a couple of connections. Taking this to the clouds may be risky because the clouds will never (as of my writing) beat a physically located dedicated server when it comes to reliability and availability. Seun: the entire debate is pointless, so I will need the debate to end right now.It is not pointless, you just don't see the point and that's understandable. |
The idea I could come up with in 5 minutes of editing Nairaland's CSS source code. P.S: I am not a designer, I'm a developer.
|
mukina2: i reserve my commentHoney we need a baby, when can we see? @Topic. From the conversation I had with seun showing how white text on a dark background is unwise for paragraphs and how this theme should be codenames "NL Nightmode" cuz its good on the eyes only when in the dark. . . I want to believe he will make some changes in the next couple of hours that will really "take nairaland to the next level" (his words). Be patient people. |
Good idea. But I really don't see the point of most of the "offers" listed on Nairaland by the admin as they are narrowed down to only languages he can understand and the other languages out of his understanding are shelled out. Sadly the language (Python) this project is narrowed to is relatively off the present web development market. Just a tip: This project is highly impossible if you are not ready to spend millions of Naira for hardware to run it on. I am not talking about the scripting. I am talking about servers. Or is it intended to be tested on a dedicated server? How will you the true strength of the script? Good idea all the same, wishing you guys the best. ============ That said, JAMB does not need a new script/site. The JAMB website presently needs a set of database servers, at least 2 load balancing servers and 3 to 4 web servers. There are lots of technologies out there to monitor load balancing servers and make sure at least one is always running. JAMB's problem is not functionality, its scalability. So while this is a good project, I don't see JAMB buying the idea easily. They would rather pump money into hardware with raw power and still maintain their site with a few database connection optimisation if necessary. If at gunpoint I am faced with the following 2 options to choose just one: a) Put the best optimized script on a crappy server arhitechture b) Put the worst optimized script on the best server architecture I will gladly choose option B. My opinion. |
netesy: am gettinghttp://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=260159.0 |
netesy: is there a way anybody will know if the site using it is not realy a .aspx site!?I can't answer that. Most things are possible on the internet depending on the internet user's level of skill. |
Awesome k: Well, countries lyk somalia and its lyks cnt boast of half wht we hv. I love NigeriaA wise person wont compare himself to a lower person and take consolation in the fact that he is better than that person. Look ahead, don't look behind. |
Its best to look for the old threads that are made annually about this same problem and continue from there. This is neither news nor surprising. Its an annual event, call it JAMB Downtime Annual Festival. |
I have re-written a .httaccess rule and have tested it. test link: http://www.sawyerrken.net/tada.aspx It links up to http://www.sawyerrken.net/tada.php .httaccess rule ================== Options +ExecCGI AddHandler cgi-script .py Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9]+).aspx$ $1.php ================== I will explain the regular expression in the last line: ^ = the beginning of the line ([a-zA-Z0-9]+) = This groups an optional range of characters a-z, A-Z and 0-9. This will match tada.aspx, dual.aspx but will not match tada_dual.aspx. The + sign means it can take 1 or more of any of the preceding characters. $ = signifies the end of the line on the left hand side. $1 = this stands for a variable that I created in the left hand side. The variable is anything that matches into ([a-zA-Z0-9]+). If I had a second variable like that on the left hand side then i will use $2 to refer to it. You can go on like that $3, $4 tillll $9. Read up on regular expressions. They are a pain to learn and most of us ignore it but its really fun to learn and use, as it saves me some validation time. |
