TBH, its not Arsene's fault this season as Vela has been injured on International duty for sometime this season. Infact, Arsene had to tactically keep him around when they were injecting him with painkillers on international duty earlier. He will get his chance this season I'm sure. In the interim, I expect him to give Carragher and co a torrid time during our carling cup fixture.

With Clichy playing well and Armand Traore also back at Arsenal after spending last season on loan at Portsmouth, competition is strong at left back but Wenger says that should drive players on.

"When you make the choice to live in a competitive world you have to accept competition.

"To accept competition is to push somebody who is in front of you out and to show you are better."
Here is a glimpse into Arsene's mind that indicates intense competition for places this term, some players will have to determine their future at the end of this season but the season bodes well for the club as we are spoilt for choice.

Just noticed on the site that Almunia is now available for selection, na tomorrow we go know finally if him don lose shirt abi Arsene don give am second chance.

The lads should definitely go into these believing they can win it, Parking the bus is no longer as succesful as it once was against this team as there are too many avenues to score goals by this team. I expect nothing less than 2-0. RVP to turn up again and I'm backin Diaby to score here.

By the way, good job Tayo. you repped the gunners well as the Mans are still struggling to put up theirs. grin

Well, from we've got too thin a squad to we've got too many (not aimed at u dudu). Problems are usually perceived and might not be necessarily so. The key i guess is to use them as at when due. I trust Arsene to mange taht well, hell, he believed in these boys when 3/4 of the footballin world wrote them off.
I agree with yu slim, same thing happened with the Flamini, Gilberto, Diarra triangle but we ended up selling Diarra and within a few mnths everthing went belly up. We can't afford to make the same mistakes now which is why Arsene is trying to keep everyone happy but he will definitely have to make some hard decisions soon. Merida is already mouthing off and even Rozza to some extent while we still have Nasri to come back from injury.

Prof Anya O Anya ( former Chairman of Nigeria Economic Summit Group) recently called on Nigerians to stop parading Nigeria in bad light by making negative pronouncements against the country. He explained that like a self fulfilling prophecy, those negative comments have materialised in the country - leading to the bad state of things.
Methinks Prof Anya is delusional and shld be sent to an assylum. Didn't the western world acknowledge they had a recession and work to turn things round?
There is a very big difference between hiding your head in the sand, wishing issues go away by themselves and having a positive attitude to tackle them head on believing you can resolve them.

I can at least say Eduardo wont be leaving, we need the striker, read striker, Rosicky's case might be dicey, prolly Arsene wants to be sure the injury is totally behind him.
there is trouble ahead in the striking department, Dudu might not remain content with such a small amount of games if he is fully fit and Carlitos isn't getting any right now even though he always performs when called upon, anyways the FA cup will soon come into the picture too and I hope we remain in the mickey mouse cup so that we can keep all of them occupied somewhat.
Trouble is, we have too many AMs and CMs at present I think it wld be a stretch to keep Cesc, Rozza, Nasri, Wilshere, Merida, Arshavin and Theo all satisfied with the WC approaching and players staking claims for internationals. I agree Merida wld be the pop choice to go but Arsene's body language indicates he wants to keep him.

edoyad:
Duduspace if Rozzi leaves l'm off to Bayern grin grin
I wld seriously consider doing the same, lets just hope he stays injury free.

@Gooner
Definitely storms are brewing seriously on the board, ominous signs all over the place but whatever happens is okay with me as long as Arsene is in charge of the football. I just don't like this idea of a football club becoming someone's plaything. Would be a really sad day for me if we go down the Sole ownership road.

Carling cup is an escape from the premiership. The level of excitement and the pace at which the young Gunz play through 90 mins is unbelievable. Almost like they're on drugs wink
Yup, and I think we'll go one further this term. We have ample strenght in numbers not to play guys like Paul Rodgers in defence this term, I am so confident in this carling cup squad the least I expect is a Semi Final appearance.

edoyad:
And why isn't Vela incided ? They better not piss that off.
He will get his chance I think, Arsene obviously sees him as a long term project and the boy will deliver. I believe Arsene will have to make some hard decisions at the end of the season and 1 or 2 of Rosicky, Eduardo and Merida will have to leave as the squad is getting bloated and the young ones are getting impatient. I'm happy I'm not the one who has to take that decision but lets see how the season pans out for each individual, we definitely have a big enough squad to compete on all fronts.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by duduspace(m): 2:18am On Oct 16, 2009
I have a feelin we'll see Fabianski against B'ham, Nasri is close to a return and might actually make the Carling cup team against Liverfool, this is looking like it could be another massacre of cataclysmic proportions like 2007. with Silvestre and Senderos as almost sure starters at the back, Wilshere and Nasri in the midfield and Vela upfront, that team is actually quite close to the first team in terms of ability.
Rafa should not just be afraid but very afraid.

The team against pool is lookin like:

                Szczesney

                Senderos   Silvestre

K.Gilbert                                 Gibbs/Traore

                         Coquelin

Wilshere                                  Nasri/Merida/Traore

Sunu/Barazite                                Vela

                            Watt

What more authority do I need beyond "Do as you would be done by"? That doesn't require an author now does it? I feel pain, and I can come to the realization that if I hurt others, they can come back to hurt me can't I? does that require any authority than my own self realization?

Despite the challenges of early life, Akwuegbu is among the luckiest players of his generation. He explained that Sebastian Brodricks, Nigeria’s former Under-17 coach "literally picked me while I was in secondary school, in form two, at St. Murumba College, Jos. I was in that class in my school when I was picked to play for the Under-17 and Under-20 national teams at the same time. I consider myself to be a very lucky player and I thank God for playing in the Under-17 and Under-20 for Nigeria." He said because of his relatively young age, the country’s Under-17 coach wanted to reserve him for the next set of the Eaglets, the 1991 squad, but Brodricks drafted him into the 1989 team when he discovered his enormous value and quality. James Peters, the Under-20 coach, also found him good enough and he did not hesitate to include him in his squad to the African Youth Championship, AYC, in Mauritius in 1993. The Under-20 team had other future stars like Nwankwo Kanu, Austin Okocha, Taribo West, Tijani Babangida, and a host of others.

Pastor AIO:
When I said that every religionist should be made aware of this statement it is because I agree with it.  I am wary of various peoples various notions about God.  Quite rightly you said that for me God is undefined.  I believe that I am incapable of defining God.  That doesn't mean that I don't believe God to exist. Moreover I find that those rigid definitions of God become quite dangerous after awhile.
Herein lies a conundrum, how exactly can you believe in something you can't define? doesn't this equate to something like "I don't really know"? what exactly are you sure of and what exactly are assumptions?
