dotbawse:I created a thread for those using ntel, to share the best speed they have been able to achieve, and since S6 has a category 6 LTE modem, I'm quite curious to find out the fastest speed you have gotten. here is the link to the thread https://www.nairaland.com/3080375/show-best-ntels-4g-lte |
I'm sure there are those who have been using this for a while now and they kept it coded. But the mistake they did was to share it with the OP, and now it has been blocked. What some ignoramus still don't understand is that there are network agents on this site. One would think that, the fact that there are threads being maintained by some network staff, is a clear indication of that. There are too many naive people on the internet, so I don't blame the OP. |
Even if it's working, it's going to be blocked in a few hours time, now that you have posted it here. |

Jeekarick:I would advice you to get a device that performs better. Probably a device with at least category 4 LTE specification. Because, given how good network is where I'm now, I'm suppose to be getting above 50Mbps, but the Lumia seems to limit my speed between 40 - 50Mbps, even at nights. Also, if you want to get a device that would be fully compatible with ntel network, then you might consider the Tecno C5(ntel version). ntel personnel told me that their own version of C5 will have VoLTE support on the network, unlike non ntel version of the phone. |
ntel speed, just now
|
Jeekarick:You are welcome. |
Op, go on. I'm following. |
Jeekarick:The error message is normal. That is not the problem. I really don't know what to suggest again. Maybe you should take your phone to ntel office, see if they can do anything about it. |
freeborn76:One could not have said it any better. |
Jeekarick:Have you created a new APN, using ntel as the APN? if so, make sure the apn is selected as the one to use. |
Jeekarick:I just visited the official website of One Plus, and it clearly states that One plus One and One Plus Two and all their variants are compatible with ntel's LTE band 3 and band 8. So, yes, it should work fine. Once you insert ntel's sim, network will most likely not come up immediately, since ntel is a pure 4G network, no 3g or 2g. What you need to do is, go to your phone's dial pad and dial *#*#4636#*#*, then press Phone Information. Now, scroll down to where you can change network type and change it to 'LTE only', press the 'Update' tab. Now go and create a new APN as APN = ntel, save it and use it as the default APN. that's all. |
omodada1111:That's very slow, man. Which area is that? What device are you using as modem? |
Please who knows the specific model of the Smile network Huawei router? I mean the router, not Mifi. |
joey150:I have tried to educate you on this matter, but you have simply refused to learn. Today, FDD band 3(1800) is the most popular spectrum the world over. There are more devices that use band 3 than any other band. All the 4GLTE devices in my family, all supports it, like the BB Z30, Q10, Classic, LUMIA 1320, HTC ONE M8 and M9, Xperia Z3 dual, this clearly shows how popular the band is. Band 8(900) is fairly popular itself. In fact, according to ITU, Band 3 and 8 may be suitable for global roaming in the future in ITU regions 1,2 and 3. While band 20(800) is only suitable for roaming in ITU region 1 alone. I"ll give you a challenge. name one phone that doesn't support band 3(1800). |
joey150:Stop spreading falsehood. You can't alter a device to support a band the OEM never intended it to. Secondly, there are more devices that support band 3 than band 20, so go do your research. Thirdly, Tecno isn't the only OEM that ntel has partnered with. ntel has also partnered with Samsung. There is a variant of Samsung S6 edge specifically built for the ntel network. Like i said, stop spreading falsehood when you know little to nothing about these things. |
joey150:Do you even read before commenting? ntel currently has two LTE spectrums, while MTN plans to roll out its LTE with one. By the way, band 3(1800), which ntel uses, is more popular among devices OEMs shipped to EMEA countries. Clearly, you don't know anything about LTE. There is no network in the world that supports all LTE bands. |
erekking:99.9 percent of phones in the world supports 2100mhz frequency of 3G, which is the frequency telecoms in Nigeria use. 4G frequencies, on the other hand, are scattered across devices and networks. But to answer your question. Your device must support band 20(800mhz) in order to work on MTN network. That is the same band Smile uses. Ntel, on the other hand, has an upper hand as it concerns spectrum, since they have 2, band 3 (1800) and band 8(900). What this means is that, MTN doesn't plan to roll out LTE-A at launch. LTE-A requires two spectrum. |
I'm currently enjoying my ntel LTE, and I'll probably stick to it, given the traffic on MTN. |
slinkman:I have already stated it clearly that i'm a user. Please, stick to the topic. |
jmichlins:I saw a post on this forum last week, that they have started selling their sims at their office at Aminu Kano crescent, Wuse 2. i agree that their plans are quite expensive. If they want to do well and be patronized, they have to come up with more options for Nigerians. |
slinkman:The last i checked, ntel has removed the 3gb fair usage policy from its website. |
jmichlins:I don't work for ntel. i was one of those who got the sim at the Transcorp hilton, Abuja. |
The intent of this thread isn't about showing off impressive ntel download speed, but to show others how devices performance may vary from one another, even those with the same LTE speed specification. I have both a BlackBerry Q10 SQN 100-3 variant and Nokia Lumia 1320, and though, they both support LTE download of up to 100Mbps and 50Mbps upload speed, the Nokia Lumia 1320 seems to perform way better than the BB Q10. The best download speed i have achieved on the Q10 is 33Mbps, and 6Mbps upload, While the best download i have gotten on the Lumia 1320 is 50Mbps, and 36Mbps upload. In fact, the average download speed on my Lumia is 40Mbps. Mind you, i have made extensive tests for the past 11 days, both at home and away from home. I'm particularly very impressed with the upload speed of the Lumia, and in turn, ntel. I believe that the low download speed of 50Mbps is due to device performance. Clearly, you can see that in difference between the Q10 and Lumia 1320. Also, we have seen faster ntel download speeds from a couple of other Nairalanders. So, by uploading your ntel download speed test and stating your device, others may be encouraged to get your kind of device in order to get the best out of ntel's LTE network. https://www.speedtest.net/result/5281477420.png Above, is my best download speed using Nokia Lumia 1320 Below, is my best Upload speed test result using Nokia Lumia 1320 https://www.speedtest.net/result/5286663610.png Cc: honsule, melya, mikron, omodada1111, and all other ntel users, come in here and upload your speed. |
Dial *559#, to see if you have any bonus data. |
DrEngrSk:I have never seen a Smile mifi and i don't know which Brand they offer, let alone the model. That is why i asked you to google the specs of it, so as to find out which bands it supports. I assumed you knew the brand and model of Smile mifi. |
walex1991:These things happen. Almost unbelievable but true. Server configuration from region to region defer. What works in some part of the North might not work in the South, and vise versa. in the past, there were several tricks that worked in one part of the country, but didn't in the other. |
DrEngrSk:Why don't you Google the specs of your Smile mifi, see if it supports band 3 or band 8 of ntel. These infos are out there. |
olurotimi1:Ntel LTE bands are 3(1800) and 8(900) Smile LTE band is 20(800) Spectranet and Swift both transmit over TD band 40(2300). |
