Horlaarsco: they can't I bought smile sim didn't work on my 3G phone worked on my bro 4G phone Smile is a pure 4G network. But Ntel is said to be the 5th GSM network after MTN, GLO, Airtel and Etisalat, making it likely to support 2G and 3G. By the way, Smile transmits its LTE on 800Mhz, otherwise known as band 20. So only 4GLTE devices that support that frequency would work. |

Buhari and his cohort has noting to do with this. the next is to give us all the embassies of the approved route most especially US embassy. Phones › Re: Does It Mean No Internet Service Provision For Those With 2/3g Phones On Ntel? by dustmalik(m): 6:57pm On Apr 12, 2016 |
greenhulk: I think it depends on the bands supported by ur device. I use Samsung Galaxy s6 which supports multiple bands and my 4g is always on whenever I turn on my data. Mtn 4g is not lte but it is pretty fast on compatible devices. I think mtn 4g band is not supported by all devices. For example if I take my mtn sim and put it on my iPhone, it shows only 3g. Normally I phones categorize 3g, 3.5g and hadpa+ all as 3g. So they have only 3 bands, 2g, 3g and LTE..MTN doesn't have lte yet so it is pointless switching to lte as it will be draining battery, I reserve that for ntel.
Even at that I still get 12mbps with my mtn on my iPhone, check pic below. But with the same sim in my s6 with 4g displayed I get 18mbps. So it all depends on the bands supported by ur device and the network. This is why I think a lot of 4g phones might not actually work to full potential on ntel. What variant of S6 do you own? I mean the specific model? You can see this in the "About" section of Settings. |

Phones › Re: See Ntel Data Plans: Bundle Sizes, Prices And Supported Devices by dustmalik(m): 2:10pm On Apr 11, 2016 |
sunboy: To be sincere this is really cheap. My simple analysis...
1. It is unlimited ( the 3gb cap is only for peak time, even a torrent user can just chill till off peak and start their downloading, simple!) That's is a good business sense, so they don't get to affect the speed of normal internet users. * Remember they said their service is not for commercial purpose, so don't tell me you run a cyber cafe and that your customers might download.
2. It comes with minutes and SMS to all network ( valued at 2700 for calls @ 15k/s, 1200 for SMS @ N4/sms = 3900. 9000-3900= N5100 for unlimited data really
3. You can even connect with all your family at home with wifi, for just 9k, in these days where airtel and glo don master the art of double charging your data?
4. They offer more than the speed needed even at that price, I believe 5mbp is more than enough for a normal internet user. Fine they promised 230bmp, I believe the worse it should get at its worse shouldn't be below 30mbp.
5. Your sub ends every 30 days, not the message u get from glo after 2weeks that 70% is finished
6. Lastly, for the techno users good luck! ...#TeamIOS, iPhone 5 and above support 4G LTE bands You are one of the few that actually read and comprehend. The 3gb fair usage is said be during peak period only. Though we still don't know from what period to what period is their peak and off peak. Also, their plans are voice and sms inclusive, not just data. Assuming that the voice minutes can also be used for their VoLTE calls, then the 9,000/month is very much worth it, though it may not be affordable to a lot of people, but it's worth it. |
Phones › Re: Ntel 4G Network Data Plans And Compatible Devices by dustmalik(m): 7:25pm On Apr 10, 2016 |
3gb during peak period is not bad at all, but they must specify when their off peak period is, and they must not throttle download speed during off peak, which is probably in the wee hours of night till early morning. |

Do not take the OP's word for it. Make sure the 4GLTE device you are planning to buy supports both 1800Mhz and 900Mhz LTE frequencies/bands. Not all 4GLTE devices will work on Ntel. LTE has the most scattered frequencies across devices. In fact, some OEMs, especially Samsung and BlackBerry, make variants of the same device, with different LTE bands support. Asides the above facts, only a handful of devices support LTE-ADVANCED, and in order to take advantage of LTE-A, your device must support both bands listed above. One band is not enough to achieve LTE-A.
For instance, my BlackBerry Z30 STA 100-2 variant supports both bands, but doesn't have LTE-A capability, so I could only achieve LTE speeds. |
