I have seen a similar message recently. I think it is a scam format to get people interested and ask them (the sender of the message) for more information on how to apply and then milk them.

Lol! Not reading meanings into your post but had to clarify because other people can. I only explained what type of friend can give that before people start using friends who aren't experts or their research supervisors.

I was being Penny wise pound foolish because that route was a cheaper option for me. I didn't get a decision on my endorsement until the day I got approved under a different path which I had to apply for as I was tired of waiting. The visa officer mentioned I had a pending application and will be refunded for that since it has not been completed but before I got to my car, I saw the mail saying no endorsement.

For the entrepreneural visa, a reference letter from the friend (in addition to a uni or approved body endorsement) is only helpful if they would be in business together.
For the Global talent route, not knowing whether the friend was qualified was exactly why I further explained that not just a friend could do it but someone who had attained the standards specified for such and your response to that buttressed what I said hence asking "what was different in what I said and what you typed". Your initial comment came off as "any" friend could do it as long as the said friend was resident in the UK - this was a misleading statement.
For the friend to be comfortable writing a reference didn't mean he could except he meets certain conditions for the exceptional talent route.
Being able to get away with certain things that isn't doesn't mean it should be done. What A could get away with misrepresentation or exploiting the laws, B might not be able to get away with it because the VO might have caught on to it.
Whatever I type here isn't a result of self interpretation but as a result of legal interpretation and on real life situations which I've been privy to over the past years up with the most recent being shortly before Covid-19.
I understand that there are exceptions to the law (I've learnt to refrain from citing exceptions after few people translated it as being the norm) but those exceptions shouldn't be made out to be the norm.
At this point, I rest my case.

Please do not read meanings into my post here. I have not mentioned or implied misrepresentation and I do not condone or advocate that. I was speaking to adhering to or considering the TEXT of the rules set out rather than individual interpretations. The rules do not often times cover all situations and so what I was trying to say is to test them if you are up to it. You will NOT be penalised for misrepresentation if it is not misrepresentation. I was in a similar situation which was not in any rule or guidance and rather than take the risk, I chose the easy way out and in hindsight I should have and I am confident I would have been successful.
You will not believe the number of rules that have failed to stand legal scrutiny in this country.
So to reiterate, if is not clearly or implicitly disallowed, never say never. Misrepresentation of any kind, as clearly stated in the guidance, is an offence.

How is the above definition different from what I stated earlier? An eminent person in a particular field must have shown expertise or astute research qualities before he/she can attain eminent status.
You stated that the OP's friend (who barely knows him) could write a reference letter without ascertaining whether the friend is qualified to do so and I clarified that getting a friend (without expertise in a particular field) to write a reference letter will not cut it- this is a friend whose reference would not fly because writing references entail talking about a person's exceptional and professional qualities which you have evidenced and judged from the person's publications, professional, educational and research accomplishments. The people I know that have done this did not use friends; they used people of high repute (who could attest to their professional and exceptional abilities) in their various fields because using a "friend " just because the said "friend" lives in the UK won't cut it.
A friend without proven expertise in any area can't sufficiently prove that you've got exceptional skills. For a friend to do this, he/she has to be known as an notable authority or expert in a field.

Please show me where I said that. He said he had known him for many years and for him to be willing to write a reference for him then he (the friend) must be comfortable with their relationship. Now he did not give any more details apart from what he wrote their so whether he is qualified to apply for the scheme or not is left for him to determine.
The requirement said EMINENT person resident in the UK and not eminent person in research. How do you determine if his friend is eminent or not? Except of course if you know his friend.
Also, if you look at the Tech nation requirement, it is not a criteria.
All in all, in the UK if you have the ability to read between the lines, you can get away with many things. Often times we try to add ou own interpretations which may be reasonable but not necessarily the law. I am saying this because I am a victim of self interpretation and it has cost me money and additional time that I did not plan for when I should have just gone ahead to do what I had to do.

The decision on whether the reference is strong enough or not is left for the endorsing bodies.

The friend's "reference" letter has no bearing except it's going to be a joint venture business with both of them in which case it will be more of a business document detailing joint business planning. He must be endorsed by an authorised body listed in the category he wants to apply in.

I think we are referring to different types of visa. I was talking about Exceptional talent (Promise) visa. You do need a letter from someone based in the UK.

He's oyinbo who I met many years ago during the days of Yahoo Messenger, so he doesn't know how we could go about it from here. I have done some research on the Tier4 UK student visa, and though I know he's ready to help me financially in some ways, I feel he wont be able to help pay tuition as high as £11k especially knowing he's just trying to help out. So, please I need your advise on the other options I could explore. He also talked about providing a reference and I wouldn't know how that could help the whole processing. Tier 1 exceptional talent visa is a feasible option and quite cheap as well. Your friend could write you a very good reference letter and you can then submit your credentials with the referenced to The Royal society.

Look at eligible employers (someone posted the link yesterday or so) then apply for jobs in those companies. If successful, they will issue you a certificate of sponsorship which you will use to apply for your visa. You can also apply to startups, depending on your skillset and if they really need you, they can decide to go through the process of sponsorship.
Depending on your skillset, you can apply through the Tier 1 exceptional talent route. Google it for therequirements.

Having said that, be aware that you start job hunting as soon as you enroll. most companies start recruiting graduates around October to start in September the next year. A lot of people complain they only have 3- 4 months after graduation to look for a job which is not true. They have over 1 year to find a job but often choose to wait the after their program to start looking. They often start by looking for temporary jobs and forget about the ultimate aim.

Sir, it is very important.A lot of people, including black people, do not understand some of the issues faced by the black race. I only found out some myself after watching that. It is important that they understand and put into context what they are experiencing and it may help them find a solution.
For the other races too, it may help them understand that what they see of the black man was not entirely their making but how it was designed by the system. Perhaps we may begin to see a gradual shift in attitude towards the black race.
And I agree that for the black race to earn respect around the world, Africa and especially Nigeria needs to get its acts together.

I just finished watching 13th on Netflix. It's a documentary about the oppression of the blacks in America. It was eye opening, provocative and made me angry at the level of injustice to the blacks. If you can, watch it and you might learn a lot.

I have discussed with my family and a priest and they said I should try going through student visa to join my wife. That is not proper for us to live apart even if I have a good job. My family said that since we have done the Catholic wedding, we can not live separate, that is not good marriage and breaking up Catholic marriage involves lot of process but, I should try student visa and if things are not working properly, I can then decide the process of moving on with my life if my wife is still dragging her feet in joining her.

Last week my family called my wife and told her to come bk Nigeria so that we do registry and she fills my papers for me to join her OR I try to raise money to process student visa and I start up school in that way we can be together. My wife just told me that if I have the money I can do it, that the ball is in my hands. Please house I am confused, should I go ahead and start processing for student visa, and when I get it, then start school and try to see if my wife can agree to fill for me in the UK. I have started making enquiries on student visa. I also believe that studying can help me get a good job and start of my family life.


plan B is that if i get to UK with student visa, and try to make the marriage work and she refuses to agree to fill for me, I have decided to move on with my life in the UK. My question now for plan B is can I get married with student visa in the UK, how does it work? After my student visa expires can I have extension ?

For plan A if things work out well with me and wife is it possible for us to get married with my student visa? Will the process be long and complicated?

In my opinion, you can come with a student visa and test the waters. Just ensure the course is worth it and the school is near where she is based.
On the issue of marriage, it is illegal in the UK to marry more than one wife at a time so you will have to divorce your current wife before you marry another. Divorce is expensive and could be long drawn out except if it is amicable. If I am the woman, I could, for fun, drag it out a little until your visa expires
If you get married to a UK citizen, the process of getting a visa is still not easy or straight forward. If you are coming for a masters (which is usually 1 year), what time do you have to settle down, reach a conclusion about your relationship, start a new relationship while working on your divorce and and then planning for a wedding (assuming the lady is ready to marry that fast) all within 15 months? It doesn't look realistic to me.
Plan A seems good but I do not think you need to get married again(I am not sure if you are allowed to marry on a student visa). Get here, start schooling and working to support your spouse and then she can file for you. Please come with extra money because you will not be able to survive on 20hrs per week work.

I guess you mean high COST of living. High standard of living isn't a problem but high cost of living.
The cost if living in the UK is quite high but you can live well if you have a decent job and watch your expenses.

The water industry has very strict regulations with little or no room for errors. So I personally think it's a waste of resources drinking bottled Water in the UK.

The water in London has a peculiar taste but no water treatment plant will push out water that is below set water standards knowing fully well people can sue.

The truth is, water from treatment plants pushed to taps are usually safest, they might be hard but the hardness is within certain limits (because there is a level of hardness allowed in treated water). The level isnt even bad because it gives the body calcium and magnesium. The only issue with hard water is you use more soap in washing

However bottled water usually comes with lower pH due to the treatment methods used in its production...levels that are close to acid levels and can make people ill over time

I hesitate to drink tap water in London simply because of the leaky mains I have seen and the old piping works in buildings, which I cannot trust their integrity. It's a personal choice though.

Sainsbury's and Tesco also have the 17p bottled water. You may not like the taste of Sainsbury's but eventually you will get used to it within a few days. They all have their own brand but to me the taste sometimes differs.

The tap water is safe to drink but I personally prefer to buy bottled water.
the 17p ASDA or Lidl water is good or you could go for SASKIA from Lidl which I think is £1.09 for a pack of 6.
