@TripleKMama, your best rate is N343K with Ethiopian airlines
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by Dwebb55: 12:36pm On Sep 08, 2016
TripleKMama:
U guys not sending BA at all? I see good deals for peeps leaving from Lagos o. Me I no fit do dat waka.
All d best.
Abeg epp me with cheapo alert Abuja to JFK/EWR for Mid Oct to Mid Jan grin

The thing with the BA/Lufthansa deals is that you have to pay online with your card. Now the airlines show you the charge @ the official Naira rate and that's what they will charge if you were to pay into their accounts straight but if you use your visa/mastercard, your bank will change at its own rate which doesn't make the deal as good e.g. a trip might state N358K but in $, it's $1,130. Using your Naira card, the bank will charge you N390/$1 making you pay N440K instead of N358K.

Anyways, lets see what a search of your dates will turn up

@Ulio. Also. how far with your PTA waka? Any leads?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by Dwebb55: 6:59am On Sep 08, 2016
Ulio:
4th oct to Nov 30th
From my prelim investigation, your best fare now is Royal Air maroc @N282K, leaving 06/10 to return either 01/12 or 03/12. Next best fare is Virgin @N363K to leave 06/10 and return either 28/11 or 02/12. After that is Ethiopian air from 04/10 to 29/11 @N383K. You can go directly to the websites for each airline picking these dates to get slight cheaper fares(maybe 2-5K less) but use the dates i highlighted for each one. Those are the best dates I could find. Caveat: I'm not an agent oh, so there might be other deals that I can't assess

Any other airline promos? I jst missed this 1
From what I can gather, your best bet now is Royal Air Maroc who still have good deals or Virgin but the mega drop ended on Monday. Also depends on where you're going to!

I intend using University of Maryland St Joseph Medical Center, the cost is on their website. The Dr name is Dr Tolani you can also get her address there, but the thing is both the hospital and the doctor's office won't give you any correspondence on phone or thru email. I was there in March so I registered with them and got my appointment card too. That Dr doesn't take much patients and she gets filled up quickly also she won't take you if you are already 33 weeks.
I was going to use them too but do your research on their fees and costs(St Joseph's). The estimates that I got seemed to show that the hospital costs without doctor is like $9K, after factoring in tests, epidural and doctor, it's >$12K. When we checked on the website, we assumed $5-6K for hospital costs but it seems to be higher than their estimates on the website.

I noticed too, wakanow is always like 2k-5k less than travel start
rather than using these agents and then if you need to change any details, you pay through your nose, just go to the website and book on the airline directly! Just my thoughts oh!

My interview is for next week. Been going through the thread and looking up possible questions related to why i didnt disclose my job status. i still do not know what to say if i am been asked about it, cus of the contradicting dates. I want to be fully prepared. Please anyone with suggestions, would be glad to get responses. Thanks
The only thing I can say is, just say the truth!Let them know you misrepresented the facts earlier due to the stress of the recent job loss and you didn't know how to reflect the fact but now you are coming clean. after this, pray and fast and hope for the best!

@ Biollar : I have missed my darling Atawewe International.

@ House;

It so sad that one cannot really plan much in Nigeria these days because there are bigger factors at play. The instability is so much. All of us were going about opening accounts in anticipation of PTA only for some of the banks to be suspended. I got USD 8K for my Mum and I from one of the suspended banks on Friday evening. I didn't bother to update the house because I knew it was simply God that used some of our connections for us. I didnt want to send anyone on a wild goose chase.

I am thankful because it was such a narrow escape for us. The dire situation right now even makes the American dream more important for our children. May God save us all.
How much did you get the dollar for?

I dont get as per sending anyone? pls explain, i travel second week in september sha. My sis used holy cross and she got her bill after delivery which was settled as well. i am using PG county in cheverly and estimate is about 7k-10k CS mother and child. and about 5k-7k for vaginal well so i was told. i dont know where you staying sha. my doctor only has privileges in that hospital so I no bother find another between with my research so far, the hospital is the cheapest i found from holy cross to adventis and more.
As per sending, I just meant that Maryland hospitals are extremely expensive compared to other states. I also took the liberty of checking on the reviews of Prince George county hospital and I'm alarmed. Not to get you apprehensive but please find out more about the hospital. A lot of the reviews are negative and there is even a news story this month about their NICU (See link. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/deadly-bacteria-found-in-neonatal-unit-at-prince-georges-hospital/2016/08/09/e0b5b8fc-5e54-11e6-9d2f-b1a3564181a1_story.html)

Please find out more about them biko!

Oh i never knew of the medif form, thanks and i am travelling at 26 weeks on the dot so i doubt ill still need that would i? ill be well rested by Gods grace when i land cause i am getting booked into a hotel for my layover so i go face the 14hrs no shaking by Gods grace. I pray for divine favour, unmerited grace for you too in jesus name and you would be fine infact all traveling mums. Also like i said i have paid Dr full amount he requested and my reciept has 0 bal on it. in his letter he wrote that the hospital fee is to be paid after delivery. so i guess that settles why i didn't make a deposit. he said if i did i might end up paying more but of course use the service and then pay for the actual stuffs you used makes sense, ill also be holding the estimated with me and more God willing it would be a breeze. are you using a maryland hospital?
For where! Maryland hospitals no send anyone oh(If anyone has a better experience, please share). We're looking towards Virginia which is close to Maryland but their hospital fees are better even though doctors fee is slightly more expensive. When are you going? Ours us in October!

Adommum just read your experience trully amazing. The am fyling with Qatar. Where there a lot of preggy mums on your flight. Na wa oo I'll definately take a letter from my hubby's office and his statement. Them ill ask my mum to write me a letter as well and a copy of the companies statement. Would that suffice? I am a freelancer and maybe my sis should write a letter as well stating how much funds I have with her. I think the key is be prepared! Odikwa not easy at all at all! Funny thing is my other sister was stopped in Atlanta. A year ago they asked for funds she told them what she had and a recipt from hospital saying she had paid 3k to them after 30 mins they let her go. Thank you for the breakdown. It's really been helpful
My dear, I intend to fly Qatar too and will be entering via IAD. I'm hoping to have a wonderdful POE experience as well. Please ensure that you complete your Medif Form at least a week before you fly(If you're travelling after 28 weeks)and note that Qatar doesn't take expectant mums after 35 weeks, so plan ahead.

Also, if it's possible to pay ahead then go ahead and do that and just save yourself stress as most people who prepaid hardly have issues at the point of entry. Anyways have a safe trip and please share your POE experience once your mission is accomplished!

Hi pple.
I really need ur urgent advice.
I intend to travel thru atlanta poe at 36 weeks. I want to say i'm goin on vacation .even .though i intend to give birth. .however i have adequate funds if i decide to have a baby as i intend to hold up to $9000 cash. Should i .stick with this line or say i'm goin .for childbirth. .my ticket shows i will be staying for abt 3weeks. Urgent .help pls
Hmmm, this your question is why a lot of us have issues at the POE! You're already showing that you will lie and thereby cast doubts on other people coming after you. Why buy a 3 weeks ticket at 36 weeks? Do you think they won't notice that you're pregnant? Even if you clear customs and stay past the time you said you'd spend, when your visa expires, you will have some issues when reapplying.

Abeg, biko, no put sand sand for other people paroles oh!

Which dates please. Just checked aug 17th to sep 10th but nothing came up.
Again the quotes were for October departure. Your departure date is just too close to today to get good rates. I checked Air Maroc and it's like N560K for the dates you stated. I always advise people to purchase their tickets as soon as your visa is given. The price might drop from August 23 but if the exchange rate stays at N380+, we will still have high ticket prices. Try and buy your tickets as early as possible!

I just checked now, butt the prices are in EURO and not dollar, and wat i got was 1566 Euro or mayb am not doing it righ too,

pls how did u go about it to get 880 dollars, travel dates is 21 aug to oct 29, lag to new york

pls help out
The prices I quoted was in Naira not Euros or dollars and it was for 3 people travelling from late October. Your dates are much closer and hence more expensive. I checked and the best price I saw online is Air Maroc and it's N480K for the dates you chose. What I do is that i check with the common travel agents, get their best rates and then go and check those airlines directly to see if I can get it cheaper with flexible dates

@Dwebb55 I think you doing it wrongly, I checked it and I got for $880 which is about 280k in Naira. Lagos to IAD
I rechecked and its like #270+k like you have which is still a great deal. I was checking for 3 passengers

so I playfully checked them out.. Outta curiosity... No price like that o or maybe I was doing it wrongly
I used flexible dates for late October to early January and was able to get #815k for 3 people(1child) which is like #270k per person. However, if you get any fare less than #300k right now, I feel that's a great deal as the nearest is like #400k per person!
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by Dwebb55: 4:14pm On Aug 09, 2016
For those low on cash, Royal Air Maroc has great deals(under N260K) for those going to New York or Washington! Their reviews are just average but for those who just need to get there, try and book now. Go to their website to get the best deals!

Its fear o, so that the military wont plan another coup d day i am there. Let me nt download the whole scenario playing out in my mind. Besides the diff btw TurkishAir and Emirates is abt 70k, I can still manage and be observing a fall in ticket price soon. *praying mode*
That your praying mode will get you to buy a #600k ticket if you're planning on travelling next month. Better add fasting to it! However, you should note that the major cause of the exorbitant ticket price is the exchange rate and kids are going back to school next month, so chances of the exchange rate coming down significantly is slim! Do the needful!

You can try ethiopian airlines is a bit cheaper
I was always on the path of cheapest is best but trust me some airlines are best avoided! I've hardly heard positive reviews on Ethiopian airline and the online reviews are even worse. As someone suggested, you might have to do Virgin Atlantic to NY and then take a local flight thereon but though I haven't flown Ethiopian airlines, I'd avoid them if I were you. Maybe someone who has flown them can throw some light?

My sister, I tried helping you by checking several airlines but your best bet seems to be turkish airlines at N448K. Qatar is N100K more while virging that is doing promo doesn't fly to Houston. Best of luck!
