Ah thanks! grin

I changed my mind sha and booked another airline coz Qatar says that you're on your own for that 9hr layover in Doha. I can't oh.
My understanding is that Qatar will book hotel for you if your layover is over 8 hours, unless you bought their promo tickets. If the layover is over 10 hours, they will even throw in meal vouchers.

That's what my family got on our trip. We got hotel to and fro and had meal tickets on the return leg

It's funny how you people come and ask for favour and write "urgent". Like the rest of us are just chilling waiting to attend to your urgent needs.
My dear read through the thread, that's what most people here do. No one will give you the info you are looking for. This na DIY thread. You've been asking for help since Nov 2016 till now. Haba. You should have done some ground work yourself na.
Ps. Maryland is an expensive place to give birth. This should give you a head start
ABI oh! I even responded to the Silversprings question a few pages earlier(@ the end of 142 I think). Please take time to read and work on the suggestions. Nobody be secretary for hia.

Once again, Maryland is expensive but since Virginia is closer, try and look for hospital's in Virginia near Silversprings. One such town is Arlington,VA, or try Alexandria,VA. You can get cheaper hospital's there. Once you have decided on a hospital, you can then search the doctors affiliated with those hospital's.

My beautiful people of nairaland I greet u all please dos anyone know of any affordable hospital in silver spring Maryland? I will be going on missionary journey by may God's grace please the sister oooo thanks.
Maryland is a bit expensive to give birth. Holy Cross is in Silver springs and you can search for their contacts on line and get their charges from them.

My advice is to target Virginia though. Hospital fees are lower and the care is the same. Check for hospital's around Arlington as it's like 15-25 mins drive from Silversprings. Try and Google Inova hospital's

Hi everyone good morning ☀️ am new here. And sern so many helpful posts. Plz does anyone know any AFFORDABLE Hospital in Pennsylvania with a good package.?
This is a DIY forum. Type the state or area you want information about in the search column at the top and then filter through. Or better still, start reading from part 1 or 2 to get a firm grip on what you need to do at different stages.

A lot of people treat this thread like a question and answer forum and even get annoyed when there is no response rather than take the time to read through from the beginning.

[quote author=mimimum post=53672388]Hi Dwebb, I used my B1/B2 visa for vacation last November. I wasn't pregnant then, so it was a medical visa I applied for. Shebi I can write the update of intent letter now that I want to use it for childbirth. Thanks.
[/quote

Since you've used your visa for its intended purpose, I don't think writing a change of intent letter is needed. The change of intent simply means, I applied for a visitation visa but will use it for childbirth. Since you've already used it for its intended purpose you can just go ahead and use it for childbirth if your visa is still valid.

To fulfill all righteousness though, you can just send a letter of notification to let them know you intend to use the same visa to deliver your child.

Truly what If I didn't know and I wrote change of Intent and my mum got her visa on my visa afterwards. It is not a crime
My post is directed at those that claimed not to know, gave birth and reapplied for B1/B2 and are still intending on going to give birth without using the visa for the purpose it was reissued, which is visitation. If you're part of these people, then you can't claim ignorance a second time.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Dwebb55: 1:57am On Feb 12, 2017
I've seen recent posts from people stating that they got their visas for visitation but will not use them for that purpose but for childbirth. If you knowingly misled the VO's in your application, you're not only putting yourself but others in a complicated situation. Let's be guided and truthful in our applications. It's not illegal to give birth in the US(yet)
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Dwebb55: 12:32pm On Jan 30, 2017
Also, we have to stop this 'i wasn't asked if I was going to give birth' line. If you were pregnant at the time of your interview and they asked why are you going to the US, you had the opportunity to have notified them at that point that you were pregnant even if you hadn't made up your mind to use the visa for that purpose. When my wife and I applied, when asked at the interview, we stated bluntly that she was planning to give birth in the US which was our main reason for the visa( We found out DW was pregnant after we had started the application process)
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Dwebb55: 12:22pm On Jan 30, 2017
I honestly feel, you applying again will border on harrasment as I feel your continuous applications already make you seem desperate. As advised above, take time out relax, go to other countries, even explore other options for immigration if that's your view and above all remember that there is a lot of uncertainty with Trump in power and we all have to thread carefully.

Pls u people should help me. I am falling sick cos of this flight thing. I told her to do lagos to houston she said turkish airline don't go to houston shocked. I told her someone just went 2days ago. She then agreed to check and found it but the return is way too long. I have decided to use find a way to do it without her. I have tried to open turkish website but it's not opening on my device. Pls can anybody help me. My DH can't do anything cos he works offshore and his work is very tasking. My date is Dec 8- March 22nd. This is the reservation she sent me. Thank u
Feeling sorry for all your grief. First things first, collect your money back from the agent if possible. Tell her una no dey go again! Na by force?
Secondly, I have checked and seen that Klm/Airfrance are your best options for those dates, so go directly to their websites and play around with the dates e.g. a day before or a day after for both going and coming will get you about 140k off (445k).
Don't take it easy with the crooked agent, if she is telling you to choose between airlines, then she hasn't paid for your ticket and your money is still with her.

Part 2.
The flight was looooooooooooooong and I no dey chop them oyinbo food so hunger mama me for the plane. Your best bet if you are like me. Chop well before any flight and buy burger from the airport and take along on the flight.
Got to IAD and was fast tracked to the front to meet CBP.
CBP asked exactly the same questions, we gave the same answers. Asked how much cash, we told him $10170.
CBP: any food with you?
Me: legumes and other processed foods
CBP: any meat or fresh foods and plants?
Me: no. All foods procesed and dried.
He stamps us in till April 2017.
We went for secondary inspection cause we declared over $10000. CBP asks how much we have, told her $6170 cash, #4000 in card. We fill our forms and out we go. At the door another CBP collects our passports and scans our faces before handing it back. The wheelchair guy was amazing, always calming us down and assuring us everything was okay. Even gave us his phone to call my cousin and came to look for us when my cousin arrived to pick us up and couldn't get in touch with me.
All in all, a great journey and the hospital experience will come late.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by Dwebb55: 12:13pm On Oct 29, 2016
In the spirit of giving back, we share our successful POE story.
DW and I flew Qatar from Lagos. We were able to get PTA from travelex and a bank because we planned well in advance and used all our contacts. Booked for a wheelchair which really helped fast track a lot of our movement. Airport in Lagos was hot and uncomfortable but we boarded at our stated time and arrived Doha after an uneventful flight.
At customs, they asked how much cash we had, we told them but as we were trying to get to the boarding gate, an SSS guy stopped me and asked me to come with him. Asked how much dollars cash we had, we told him about $6000 and $4000 in card. Tried to detain me that we should come and show evidence in their office but I stood my ground as I had done nothing wrong. Seems like they felt we were trying to under declare our FX but we answered all their questions at the currency declaration as we were asked. DW said if they are trying to delay me that we will all go to their office and insisted that she will follow me anywhere! God bless all women, the man backed down and told us we were free to go.
Doha airport was/is BEAUTIFUL! We'd booked a hotel and the room was top notch. Terminal from our hotel was long and we had to join a buggy to ease the stress. Met our first CBP before being checked in
CBP: morning. Why are you going to the united states
DW: I'm going to have my baby and rest a bit with the family
CBP: how many weeks are you?
DW: 3* weeks.
CBP: have you spoken with any hospital or paid any fees
DW: yes. States the hospital(Inova Fairfax ( and hands over receipt. She also shows Drs correspondence.
CBP: why is the cost so low?
DW: we signed for an international package which allows you to pay half for self pay patients.
CBP: what do you do?
DW: I'm ........ With ........
CBP: And you sir?
Me: I'm a ........ With .......
CBP: how long are you guys staying?
DW: 11 weeks.
CBP: All of you?
DW: yes
Tells the ticketing attendant. You can check them in but holds our passport and continues to type some things for several minutes. Later hands them back and wishes us a safe flight.
Continues in part 2

Hello, you sent me a pm pls ask your question here I am not a pm person. About BWI, I used that airport in March its not a busy airport, they have all the time to ask you so many questions. So I advise you to be fully prepared and harmed with your burden of proof cos secondary inspection is almost certain. That was one of the reasons I came in thru JFK.
Plus, most flights to BWI are more expensive than IAD!

Hello house. Pls, for those who have flown Qatar airways, where they strict on the fit to fly? If yes, was it the letter ftom your doctor or from port health that was requested? Also, the medif form on their site, was that useful?
You'll most likely need all 3(fit to fly from Dr, filled medif form and port health). Note that you'll need to submit first 2, 48hrs prior to your departure and their calculation of weeks is different. For them 32 weeks is 31wks+1day, so be guided. You can't fly with them after 35 weeks ie 34wks+6days!

In d spirit of giving back,i used eastside medical centre, domt get me wrong...service is great and all but interms of charges, they are expensive and not honest.
Had two encounters now-i paid cash for ultrasound(150$),did it,when i went back for my next apointment the lady told me i was owning 214$,dat d ultrasound they did was more advanced...dats how i ended up paying extre 214$(i was never pre-informed about any advance ultra sound).
Secondly, baby was rushed to NICU,i got the billing for d number of nites-476$ for 4 nites, which i made payments for, only for them to send a bill of 2318$ to me and said baby service is not included(so another bill is coming for dat one)...i told dem to break down d bill let me see how it got to 2318 cause my baby stayed for 6 days and got the explaination dat the first bill payment they showed me was for normal baby(which normal baby goes to NICU for 4 nites)..so my babies own first day in NICU is 835$ and subsequent visit is 500$,dats wat brot it to 2318$.Am so pained at d level of cheating ehn but i dont want to accrue bill if not i would have just not answered them.d whites too are dishonest ppl.
I'm not that experienced but the senior citizens can help out here. If na me, na shout I go use bring my bill down, Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem a bit too soft tempered and need to direct your anger at them. You have answered your own question now! In this forum, truth is golden so TELL THE TRUTH! If they ask what does he do/where does he work, how will you explain yourself? Fight the spirit of fear and just go in hope!
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by Dwebb55: 8:49pm On Sep 21, 2016
I believe you guys are mentioning Delivery in visa/CBP on medical ground to avail better medical care, But living in UAE & having UAE-insurance I cant say this...I'm confused that to hide my pregnancy or tell the truth to CBP/Embassy in advance?(& if to hide, which is best time to travel & what to tell to CBP?

My dear, honesty is the key thing. Remember, it isn't a crime to give birth in the United States so don't let fear rule you. Simply notify the authorities that you want to birth in the US, if they ask why, say you plan to give your child the best advantage he/she can get in life. Come to think about it, we should be more creative than for all of us to say we are going to the US cause of good medicare!

check expedia.com. i have been checking constantly too hoping for reduction (price can be as low as 90+ and as high as what you stated). i figured that the price depends on time of day you need and if you choose to go for non-stop flight as some have 1 or 2 stops which makes your trip longer but possibly cheaper.
Please don't book on expedia oh! i saw good rates on their site but followed up to read reviews about them and was appalled. You can do your own research and find out your own conclusions sha!
