If Nigeria’s national anthem were a human being, it would be in a coma by now after receiving some unwarranted uppercuts. The Nigerian social media space has been agog with reactions to a trending video of a woman appearing as police personnel wrongly reciting the country’s national anthem. This ‘national anthem goes wrong’, it is understood, happened at the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Imo State, southeast Nigeria. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33TPHoTYLsE?si=ovWzdJ6LVLmD5pt2 When you think you have seen it all, something unexpected just pops up. But why would any Nigerian struggle to recite the national anthem? As expected, many Nigerians on the X social media platform have criticised her for missing the lyrics, even though a lot of Nigerians will be guilty of the same thing if given the opportunity. While we are still trying to understand and take in the embarrassing situation, another video of the ‘policewoman’ apologising to Nigerians for her error has gone viral, too. She identified herself as an actress and a singer known as Descushiel. Now, what is the concern in this matter? The fact that a grown Nigerian is unable to recite our national anthem is worrying. I’m thinking, is it not the same national anthem that many of us recited or sang every day of our school lives back in primary and secondary school? While some of us sang it incoherently when we were younger, as we grew older, we figured out the right words and began singing it better. CommentDiaries note that the national anthem of a nation captures the collective identity and shared history of a country, uniting people across diverse backgrounds and beliefs. It represents a source of pride, a reminder of the sacrifices made by previous generations, and a beacon of hope for the future. Popular Nollywood actor, Williams Uchemba, has dished out a piece of advice to women who are dating and planning to marry men comfortable with being unemployed while relying on them to provide for the family. In a video shared on his Instagram page, Williams advised such women to seriously reconsider their choices because it’s a significant red flag. He emphasized that men naturally have the desire to provide for their families, and if that drive is absent, then there is a huge problem. He also recounted an instance when he visited his wife, then-girlfriend, in the UK and noticed that she was the one buying household items. According to him, he had to stop her and instructed her to ask him for money for those things instead. The 34-year-old actor and philanthropist said in part, “There is something in a man, some call it ego. There is something that God has put in a man to provide. A man is built to not just protect but provide. Ladies, if you are dating someone that is comfortable with being jobless because you have a good job, Run. It is a red flag because when God created Adam, the first thing God gave him was a job and when the job was too much, God said it is not good for this man to be alone. Let us give him a helper. One of the primary purpose of a wife is to help, to support what the man is doing, not to be breadwinner or a provider” Get more Celebrities gist on Dyshus webpage

yarimo:Even with the evidence that was brought about Tinubu being a drug dealer they still allowed him to continue his presidency, will this same court not still rule in his favor? |
The Nigerian government has been saved from dealing with a huge financial burden from further foreign exchange problems through judgment debt as the Commercial Court in London accepted the contract in dispute with Process and Industrial Developments Limited (P&ID) was tainted by corruption. After five years of legal battles, the judgement ruled in Nigeria's favour on Monday, 23 October, dismissing the $11 billion arbitration award that P&ID issued. It all started when Nigeria had been in dispute with P&ID over a failed 2010 deal to construct a gas processing plant, which was given a judgement of $9 billion but has now risen to $11 billion. In 2012, P&ID initiated arbitration against Nigeria, claiming that the country violated the terms of its agreement by failing to provide gas for the power plant it wanted to build for the country. This disrupted the construction of the gas project agreed to by the government of former President Umaru Yar'Adua and led to P&ID gaining no potential benefits expected from 20 years' worth of gas supplies with "anticipated profits of $5 to $6 billion." As the Supreme Court begins its hearings on the Presidential Election Appeal of February 25, 2023, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) exudes confidence. They believe that guided by the provisions of the law, the presented body of evidence, circumstances, and facts, the Apex Court will uphold justice in this matter. In a statement released and signed by Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, the leading opposition party asserts its belief that the issues surrounding the February 2023 Presidential election, such as alleged rule violations, manipulations, and falsifications that challenge the integrity of the country's electoral process, have placed democracy in a fragile state. The PDP conveys that Nigerians and the international community are eagerly awaiting the Supreme Court's judgment, with the hope that the Court will faithfully apply the laws, including the explicit provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) in 1999, the Electoral Act of 2022, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Guidelines and Regulations, to ensure substantial justice in this case. The PDP emphasizes that the sincere expectation of Nigerians and democracy advocates worldwide is that the Supreme Court will use this case to reaffirm the principle that the Judiciary serves as the last bastion of hope for ordinary citizens. The party concludes by stating, "Nigerians remain optimistic that the Supreme Court will deliver substantial justice by the law and the facts presented in the Appeal."
