Jackie Chan always delights fans with comedic timing in his action movies but also amazes them with his incredible skills in martial arts. Years of training and discipline have given the actor many opportunities to show the world what a versatile performer he is, but the road to success was not as flawless as the way he kicks his enemies. When he was just at the early start of his career as a stuntman, Chan had the chance to work with the legendary Bruce Lee. Unfortunately, the Game of Death star passed away, leaving a huge dent in the action movie industry. Chan was also left with no work. In an interview via George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, Rush Hour actor Jackie Chan shared his personal stories and escapades as a stuntman. When he lost his job after action films declined in popularity following the death of Bruce Lee, he went back to Australia with nothing to do. When the host asked if he ever wished someone would mess with him just so he could brush up on his moves again, he replied in the affirmative. Chan explained: “Yes, terrible, terrible experience for myself. You know, three of us, we’re walking on the street. Suddenly, we see seven people with bicycles. I just pointed, ‘Ah, one day, I’m gonna get a bicycle.’ They turned around and said some dirty words.” Chan revealed that the incident ended in a skirmish where the seven people who picked a fight with him and his brothers, who were also martial artists, were all down on the ground. After the chaotic duel in front of the Hilton Hotel, they ran far away from the spot. The actor recalled: “After the fight, we ran. Then my shoes, I looked, all blood in my shoes. They went to the store to buy a pair of jeans, then went back to Hilton’s, they’re standing up watching. You see huge people surrounded… I was shaking. ‘Did I kill somebody?’” The Tuxedo actor went home with swollen hands and a white thing that looked like a bone coming out from the skin. He refused to go to the hospital, and two days later, it started to stink. He tried to push the bone, and there was water with blood. The “white thing” popped out, and he realized it was somebody’s tooth. In the same interview with George Stroumboulopoulos, the Hong Kong star shared his philosophy in making movies. Most of Jackie Chan’s projects lean towards the action-comedy genre, and more often than not, they are all family-friendly. He stated: “I like action, but I hate violence, so all those years, I tried to put a lot of comedy with all action. So I hope the audience sees the action, [imitates laughing], forget all the violent things.” He said that the choice to make his movies accessible to all ages taught him how to become a good filmmaker. Making people laugh while beating bad guys on the screen is indeed an incredibly tough job, and Jackie Chan has been seamlessly doing this for decades. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qbi4wNefo0?si=qdOeESE33AI2WRTF Follow up with more celebrity stories on Dyshus webpage |
Peoplesgazette notes that President Bola Tinubu has reluctantly allowed a federal judge in the United States to give his university certificate to his political opponent Atiku Abubakar. But the Nigerian leader pleaded with Judge Nancy Maldonado to block all other details, especially the gender and admission records, among others, of the person who owns the certificate from being disclosed. Mr Tinubu’s prayers on Monday morning came as part of the ongoing legal battle unfolding at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago. The case was brought by Mr Abubakar, who has been on a judicial quest to establish that Mr Tinubu was not eligible to be Nigerian president despite his election in February 2023. He won the election by 36 per cent of the vote after Mr Abubakar and Peter Obi, who was his running mate in the 2019 election, fell out, subsequently dividing their potential votes into at least two parts, paving the way for Mr Tinubu’s victory with the slimmest margin in Nigerian presidential election history. Mr Tinubu’s acceptance that his certificate could be released came after he narrowly escaped full disclosure on September 21 by pleading severe harm to his life in order to obtain a stay of a magistrate judge’s order on September 19. “There is harm in allowing discovery on issues and documents outside the diploma,” Mr Tinubu’s lawyers said in their full briefing to the court seeking a review of Judge Jeffrey Gilbert’s order by Ms Maldonado, a district judge. The identity of who was admitted into Chicago State University in the 1970s has been a hot issue after college transcripts emerged that indicated the school admitted a female Bola Tinubu from Southwest College Chicago in 1977. Whereas Mr Tinubu’s lawyers, led by Victor Henderson and Christopher Carmichael, insisted that the documents Mr Abubakar sought wouldn’t be admissible at the Supreme Court, they nonetheless appeared to anticipate the potential for an unfavourable ruling and consequently gave the judge an alternative direction of giving only an order for the school to certify strictly the certificate the president tendered to run for election. Mr Gilbert’s ruling last week required CSU administrators to confirm under oath whether or not the certificate Mr Tinubu tendered in Nigeria was genuine. Additionally, the officials were mandated to show a certificate issued to a CSU graduate in 1979, with the person’s identification redacted, and to also turn over communications relating to a letter the school issued to Mr Tinubu in 2022. Mr Tinubu feared that allowing the deposition of CSU officials to go forward could inflict severe, irreparable damage to his life, saying Mr Abubakar was only on a fishing expedition to fuel online conspiracy theories. “The Magistrate Judge clearly erred in granting the application for discovery and concluding that Chicago State University must respond to the document and deposition subpoenas,” the lawyers said. “Even if a narrow subset of information can be considered “for use” in the foreign proceeding, that is limited to the diploma submitted to INEC,” they added. “Fishing expeditions into other documents and more document productions must be precluded.” In today’s filing, a man, who identified himself as Olajide Adeniji, submitted an affidavit saying he attended school with Mr Tinubu from 1977 to 1979. But Mr Abubakar’s lawyers have long maintained that the certificate has corresponding records that must be released in order to ascertain its owner. In his order, Mr Gilbert asked CSU to provide an example of a CSU diploma issued in 1979, but with the owner’s particulars redacted, the certificate issued to Mr Tinubu in 1979, a certificate issued in 1979 that carries “the same font, seal, signatures and wording” as Mr Tinubu’s, a deposition of officials to certify released records, among others. "My husband and I planned a week-long vacation to New Orleans. We (but mostly I) have been planning this for months." "Back in March, I told him I would plan most of it — like where to go and what to do. All he had to do was make sure he had the week off and buy the plane tickets. I spent the last few months researching activities. I booked the hotel room, made reservations at places we wanted to try, and made a list of all the sights I wanted to see." "Every few weeks, I would check in with my husband to see if he had asked for time off and bought the tickets yet. He would always say he was waiting for the plane ticket prices to go down. Three weeks ago, I reminded him again, and he said he had gotten time off work for the days but had forgotten to get the tickets. He looked online, and the tickets were close to $1,500 per ticket. He said he was going to wait some more to see if they would go down." "Last week, I asked if he had bought the tickets yet, and he said no. We looked again, and the prices were still high. He said he wasn't willing to spend that much on them and asked how much money I would lose if I just cancelled everything. He offered to have a nice staycation instead." "I told him I was not willing to cancel everything, because I spent so much time planning it. We argued and didn't come to a conclusion. I wound up buying just one ticket for myself and when I flew out Saturday, I told him I was still going. He acted all surprised that I didn't want to stay home with him." "I am in New Orleans now and he is blowing up my phone saying that I am an asshole for still going without him. He was trying to get a ticket to come too but I told him if he came, he'd have to get his own hotel room, because this is now my vacation away from him. AITA?" Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known professionally as MohBad, was a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter from Lagos, born on 8 June 1996. He was formerly signed to Naira Marley's Marlian Records and left the label in 2022. He was best known for his hit singles "Ponmo, Feel Good" and "KPK (Ko Por Ke)" (You Will Always Be Remembered) with Rexxie, which was nominated three times for The Headies awards in 2022. Unfortunately, Mohbad died at 27 after allegedly being treated for an infection on 12 September 2023, leaving behind his wife Wunmi and their son. On 5 October 2022, MohBad accused his manager, Naira Marley, of assault and claimed that Marley ordered people to beat him up after he announced his decision to leave him and find a different manager to handle his music and business affairs. He sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized for several days. After MohBad's death, it was reported that he had filed a police report in June 2023 alleging that Samson Balogun, a music promoter nicknamed "Sam Larry" and a "known associate" of Marley's, had assaulted him and destroyed some of his property. In the report, MohBad said that Larry had interrupted a video shoot, leading a group of 15 men armed with firearms and cutlasses who claimed to work for monarch Oba Elegushi. The label has denied the allegations, and the police later said MohBad had not attended a subsequent meeting to address the allegations and that Balogun and others accused of the assault had then filed a defamation complaint. Elegushi released a statement distancing himself from Balogun and expressing condolences on MohBad's death. Mohbad's death has sparked outrage among Nigerians, who have called for justice. Nollywood actress lyabo Ojo has called for a peaceful protest over Mohbad's death. In an Instagram Live video, Ojo said the protest would be held this week and called parents and youths to join her. She also said the protesters would send a letter to "all the respectable offices and also to international bodies." In the video, she said, "We are not coming to fight, but we are coming to your office so that you can understand that we need justice." Even though Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State and the police have said they would investigate the circumstances of the singer's death, Ojo's call for a protest will likely amplify the demand for accountability further and bring justice for him and his family. Do you really pay attention to your nails? You might get them manicured, or you might file and paint them yourself, but do you ever take a minute to properly inspect them? The colour of your nails can often be telling you something about your health, so follow this guide, courtesy of Embarrassing Bodies' Dr. Pixie, who recently appeared at a Loceryl Nail Gel event. Give your nails the attention they deserve... Before reading, it is important to note that you should always consult your GP if you have any cause for concern. 1. Yellow nails This is most likely a sign of a fungal nail infection or the beginnings of one. Very rarely, it can be a sign of yellow nail syndrome - a rare condition affecting the lungs and lymphatic circulation. 2. Green nails Green nails could be a sign of a pseudomonas bacterial infection, which can also be accompanied by a bit of a bad smell - many people live with this infection without any issues, but it can develop, so it's still important to see a doctor. It could also possibly be a sign of candida (thrush infection), which can easily be treated with an over-the- counter medication from a pharmacist. 3. Brown nails This colour is often due to staining, either from nicotine or nail varnish. It can also occur post-chemotherapy. 4. White nails White patches on the nail can signify low levels of blood protein or, rarely and in the very worst cases, kidney failure - but it's exceptionally unlikely this would be the first sign. Multiple white parallel lines can be due to manicuring. And, of course, white spots can simply be caused by trauma, and the spots grow out harmlessly. 5. White tips or yellow tips This can simply be due to nail trauma or is common among people who suffer from psoriasis. It can also be a sign of a fungal infection, which needs to be treated before it spreads. Find out about other nail color and what it says about your health:https://dyshus.com/articles

Police in Lagos State declared on Friday that they fired teargas to disperse an unruly crowd at the Lekki Toll gate on Thursday, Sept. 21. The crowd had gathered after a candlelit funeral procession in honour of popular singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad) held at Victoria Island, Lagos. Newdiaryonline had revealed that “No single live ammunition was fired. The police adopted crowd management’s best practices in engaging the unruly crowd,’’ police spokesman in Lagos State, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated at Ikeja. “No life was lost, neither was there any injury,’’ he added. Hundeyin stressed that police were fully aware of false narratives making the rounds about the dispersal of crowds at the Lekki Toll Gate on Thursday, Sept. 21. “It is instructive to note that the police had an agreement with the organizers of the candlelit procession to end it, latest at 8 p.m. and to terminate it at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island. “It was clearly stated for the avoidance of doubt that in the interest of all `Lagosians’ and considering the heavy use of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, the Lekki Toll Gate would be a no-go area. “It became disconcerting that after the procession ended at Muri Okunola Park as agreed, with the police providing optimal security all through, some persons started gathering at the Lekki Toll Gate. “They intended to manifest objectives extraneous to the #justiceforMohbad initiative. “Being a clear violation of the laid-down agreement, the police invited the procession organizers who joined officers on the ground in persuading the people at the toll gate to disperse peacefully,’’ he explained. Hundeyin stated also that the organizers sent out messages on social media asking everyone to disperse; clarifying in clear terms that it was not a protest but a procession that had been successfully concluded. “This persuasion and appeal went on for hours but met with defiance both in words and in action. “At this point, all lanes in and out of Lekki had been totally blocked. Vehicular movement on the ever-busy expressway had been brought to a total standstill, leading to traffic build-up. “Having gone down this road before; having learned from previous similar encounters, and having studied the pattern in the crowd, the red flags and early warning signs of chaos and anarchy were discernible,’’ Hundeyin explained further. He added that in fulfilling the police’s mandate to protect lives and property, maintain law and order, and prevent crimes, they adopted the least harmful method of crowd dispersal – the use of teargas. This, he stressed, followed the failure of verbal and social media posts persuasion. Hundeyin stated also that the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr. Idowu Owohunwa, warned that mischief makers or groups of persons found disturbing the peace, under whatever guise, would be arrested. Such persons or groups of persons shall be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, Owohunwa also warned. Hundeyin stated also that the police appreciated the procession organizers for keeping faith with them and assured supporters of #justiceforMohbad and Lagosians that they would continue to prioritize residents’ safety and security at all times. According to him, an ongoing investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of “Mohbad’’ is progressing well. He urged the public to avoid creating unnecessary distractions and give the police the stable internal security space to undertake a conclusive and timely investigation. “It should be noted that the police had been interfacing closely and regularly with all meaningful support groups of #justiceforMohbad, as promised. “This synergy shall be sustained and the public shall be updated continually on the progress of investigation,’’ Hundeyin assured. Tribute Nigeria notes that Protesters and fans gathered for a candlelight procession in memory of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who were reportedly dispersed with tear gas at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State on Thursday night. The procession, organised by Mohbad’s management, was intended to honour the late artist. Participants, dressed in white T-shirts, played and danced to Mohbad’s music as a tribute. According to reports, tear gas canisters were fired, allegedly by police officers present at the event. Popular skit maker, Oluwadolaz, took to his Instagram page to claim, “We have been dispersed with teargas…” However, conflicting accounts emerged, with one individual claiming that the tear gas came from an unidentified group that arrived unexpectedly. The attendees emphasised that they were peaceful and that the police officers were securing the gathering. Meanwhile, clarifications were made by a popular On-Air Personality, Do2dtun, on his X handle that the event was a candlelight procession and tribute concert, not a protest. He wrote, “Honesty over Honesty Nigerians do not listen. WE DO THE MOST. This procession ended at Muri Okunola Park over 3 hours ago. We ended and all left. Some still went to converge at the Lekki toll gate. It is not a protest. It is a CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION.” The procession started at 5 p.m. and culminated in a tribute concert at Muri Okunola Park. https://www.instagram.com/p/CxeGna9oMFv/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Follow up with the latest updates here!

Truth be told, dating is harder than ever now! Especially when you add online dating — where you have to make snap decisions based on a bit of information you see on a profile — into the mix. Thousands of people revealed their not-so-weird and weird dating requirements. Here are some of the top and best responses: 1. "Mine is that you have to at least appreciate frogs a little. "My wife said she wouldn't swipe right on anyone with a gym pic or dog because she didn't want to get up on a weekend morning with a hangover and need to do stuff." 4. "Not having the same name as my sister or my mom. Alternatively, my name is unisex, and a girl with my name is a turn-on 🤷🏻♂️." 5. "I will only take a man’s last name if it comes before mine in alphabetical order. I’m very happy being at the front of the line with a 'C' last name." 6. U.S. court orders Chicago university to release Bola Tinubu’s records to Atiku Abubakar within two days, Nigerian opposition leader Atiku Abubakar has achieved a significant victory in the United States in his effort to challenge the eligibility of Bola Tinubu for Nigeria's presidency. A federal court in Chicago has ruled that Chicago State University (CSU) must provide all records related to Mr. Tinubu to Mr. Abubakar within two days. This decision follows Mr. Abubakar's application filed on August 2 to obtain these documents to support his challenge against Mr. Tinubu's election. The core of the dispute revolves around Mr. Tinubu allegedly submitting a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a violation of the Nigerian Constitution. Specifically, Section 137 (1)(j) of the Constitution states that a person cannot be legitimately elected president if they have presented a forged certificate to INEC. Mr. Tinubu's certificate indicated a graduation year that seemingly contradicts the timeline of a key university official, Elnora Daniel. Ms. Daniel's arrival at CSU occurred years after the purported graduation date. This discrepancy prompted Mr. Abubakar's lawsuit, seeking the authentication of these records and depositions of CSU officials. Although Mr. Tinubu's legal team argued against Mr. Abubakar's application, Judge Jeffrey Gilbert upheld the request, citing the broad and liberal approach historically taken by U.S. courts under Section 1782, allowing the release of evidence for use in foreign proceedings. This development is a significant step in Atiku Abubakar's ongoing legal challenge to Bola Tinubu's presidential victory and raises questions about Mr. Tinubu's eligibility. Rihanna has always made it clear that she wants to be inclusive when it comes to her Fenty beauty range and Savage x Fenty clothing line.Fenty famously follows the mantra of "beauty for all" and models the products on a diverse range of people. "I have a unique opportunity to change things," Rihanna said of her collection at the time. She added to Entertainment Tonight, "We cannot neglect those consumers. That consumer is one that's been neglected before and I'm not gonna let that happen here. "In her efforts to include everybody, Rihanna uses models aged 18–60 with different body shapes and different gender identities to showcase her collections. Speaking to AP about her vision for Fenty in the past, she said, "Inclusivity is part of the brand, always. We don't believe in division. We do not believe in excluding anyone." And while Rihanna's efforts have been widely praised, people couldn't help but gently roast the star when a clip of her discussing her gender-inclusive boxer briefs recently resurfaced online. In fact, Rihanna has been accused of "trying so hard not to get cancelled" in the 2020 clip, which was filmed at her Savage x Fenty Show Vol. 2 in October 2020. Discussing her new product, Rihanna stumbles over her words as she explains who the boxer briefs are for: "Both men and women and non-binary people of all, umm, gender appropriations and the pronouns." "Everyone is included," Rihanna concludes. "I didn't want this to be a 'boxers are for men' type situation." The clip was recently reposted to TikTok, where it has been liked over a million times. Nigerian-South African-based businessman and thought leader Charles Awuzie has proposed the Big Brain Naija reality television show as an intellectual alternative to the ongoing Big Brother Naija show. Tributeonline notes that Awuzie, founder and CEO of Gemsbok Group, recently made this known while expressing his disappointment with a viral video making the rounds on social media depicting BBNaija housemates flunking simple questions bordering on current and national issues. He stressed that BBNaija is a celebration of emptiness, adding that the video was a national embarrassment enough to bring the reality show to an end. “After watching the video, I simply registered the domain ‘BigBrainNaija dot com’ as an intellectual alternative to Big Brother Naija,” he said. He reiterated that it is time to change the narrative and launch a counter-reality show that would promote intellectualism, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship while entertaining the audience. Awuzie noted that a few hours after he made the proposal, on his verified Facebook page, he had been receiving dozens of messages as regards partnership and sponsorship. He said the Big Brain Naija reality show would assemble the best brains in Nigeria in one house for 50 days with the task of building a unique solution to the problems in their community. While the winner of BBNaija, founded in 2006 and now in its eighth season, goes home with N120 million, Awuzie is proposing something much less for his alternative reality TV show. He stated that the proposed Big Brain Naija show, whose winner would go home with N50 million to convert their solutions into business, would be streamed on major media platforms in the country. “We need a reality TV show that will show our children that intellectualism can make them great and influential,” he added. He said that he has tasked his team to work on the branding and website of Big Brain Naija and get them ready in two weeks. Follow up with all the latest gist on Dyshus webpage

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has commented that he experiences the same level of bullying from industry peers and online Nigerians as the late singer Mohbad did before his passing. The thespian stated this on his Instagram page on Sunday. The actor stressed that the people now demanding justice for Mohbad were the same people who had harassed him for over a year because of his decision to marry another woman. Yul called out his colleagues, saying none of them had stood up to defend him in the face of continuous bullying and insults that he endured for over a year. He wrote, “All of una wey dey posy justice for Mohbad, plus the Nollywood people wey join dey shout am, you’re not different from the people that were maltreating Mohbad. You’re all demons and wicked people, simply chasing clout. You’re all the same people who have been insulting me for over one year, bullying me on the internet, trying so hard to kill me for matter wey no concern una. “Simply because I took a personal decision for my life that is not your business. “How many of you fought for Mohbad when he was alive? Spreading fake stories about me on Facebook just to make money. Telling lies just to destroy my name. On top matter wey una know nothing about. Just because men don’t talk. None of you knows what I see in my home, that inspired my decision. Idiots. “What they did to Mohbad is what they have been doing to me on the internet for over one year. How many Nollywood people have come out to say enough? You’re all waiting for me to die so you can post my picture and write your nonsense, ‘justice for …” Na thunder go fire una. I lost my son. In the, midst of the unbearable pain, demands say na me kill my son. How many of una come out to fight for justice, Even my own Aunty has not called me on the phone for one day to ask me what happpened, instead she day use me day draw traffic for her page. “On top matter wey no concern uno. On top of matter why uno no know as e take start or wetin dey happen inside house. Becos a man would rather keep quiet and protest the image of his wife that spill unnecessary information. The bulling, insults, curses etc I have received on the internet for over one year is enough to kill or drive to depression. But una no fit kill me. Temmie Ovwasa, the Nigerian singer, has opened up about her experience during her time with the YBNL record label. In a lengthy Instagram post, Ovwasa said she was being paraded in the label as a “princess” but “felt humiliated” by Adebukunmi Suleiman, Olamide’s wife, who she perceives as “classist and disrespectful”. She said Adebukunmi “constantly reminded” her that she was from a poor background and “turned me into an errand girl”. “I got into the music industry to sing, Olamide paraded me as the ‘princess’ but once the cameras were off I was in a house with his disrespectful a** classist wife who made it her mission to remind me that I was a poor girl that they brought from Ilorin to change her life,” she said. “Your structureless record label put me in a house with your wife and she turned me to her freaking errand girl.” She claimed to have recorded over 25 songs during her time at the label, but Pheelz, a producer, allegedly misplaced the hard drive containing her work. She added that she only released four songs while with YBNL; but since leaving the label, she has put out so “many songs that could fit into a body of work”. “I recorded over 25 songs and Pheelz opened his wide mouth to tell me he misplaced the hard drive. 25 songs!” Ovwasa said. “I spent 5 years at YBNL and released 4 songs! I have recorded and released three albums since I left these people, and I have so many songs I could drop an album every week!” Ovwasa joined the YBNL record label in 2016 and left the label in 2020. During her time with the label, she released ‘Bamidele,’ ‘E Be Like Say Dem Swear for Me!’, ‘Holy Water,’ and ‘Afefe.’ Follow Up With The Latest Celebrity Updates

Gistlovers previously reported that Toke Makinwa and Maje Ayida divorced in 2015 after it emerged that he had fathered a child with his ex-girlfriend. However, on her recent podcast episode, TokeMoments, the actress expressed a different perspective, suggesting that she might have made sacrifices if she had children during her marriage. She remarked, “Many women endure unhealthy marriages for the sake of their children. You often hear women say, ‘The marriage may be over, but I stay for the kids.’ "I'll be candid here; if I had a child while married, I might have been one of those women. I had experienced the trauma of losing both parents at the age of 8; I mean, I was adopted. I have a wonderful life, for which I'm grateful, but there were times I wondered what life might have been like if that hadn't happened. "So, for the sake of my children, I might have had to compromise just to ensure they had both mom and dad. I could have been one of those women. Therefore, I'm not here to judge anyone."
