Since its introduction in April 2011, it has become a mainstay of the country’s defense sector.
The Iron Dome is a short-range missile and artillery defense system, with an operating window between four and 70 kilometers. It was specifically designed to protect populated Israeli areas from missile attacks from nearby countries.

LEADERSHIP reports that the Palestinian militant group, Hamas, with Iran’s backing, launched a massive surprise attack on Israel on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from Gaza, with land invasions, amphibious assaults, and airdrops with motorized gliders. During this attack and the ensuing Israeli counter-attack, about 900 Israelis and Palestinians have been killed so far.

This attack on Israel was led by massive salvos of over 5,000 rockets and artillery in 20 minutes.

• 1 pound lean ground beef

• ½ teaspoon garlic powder
salt and ground black pepper to taste
• 6 hamburger buns, split

Directions

1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir lean ground beef in the hot skillet until some of the fat starts to render, 3 to 4 minutes. Add onion and bell pepper; continue to cook until vegetables have softened and beef is cooked through, 3 to 5 more minutes.

2. Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and garlic powder; season with salt and pepper. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.

3. Divide the meat mixture evenly among hamburger buns.

SIMPLE MACARONI AND CHEESE

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

2. Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan; stir in instant rice, cover, and remove from heat. Let stand for 5 minutes.

3. Mix prepared rice, chicken, broccoli, processed cheese,

condensed mushroom soup, condensed chicken soup, milk, butter, and onion in a 9x13-inch baking dish. 4. Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is melted, about 30 to 35 minutes. Stir halfway through cooking to help the cheese melt evenly.

After 27 years since the deadly drive-by shooting of the rapper Tupac Shakur, the police have appeared to have finally identified the rapper's killer. On Friday, 29 September, Duane "Keffe D" Davis was arrested by Las Vegas police in connection to murdering Tupac and is now facing charges of murder with a deadly weapon with a gang enhancement. At this present time, he hasn't commented publicly on the charges.

Davis has been identified as a former gang member of Compton Crips and uncle of the now deceased Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, who turned out to be previously identified as a suspect in Shakur's murder but was never charged with any crimes.

Anderson was killed in a shooting in 1998. Investigators have been aware of Davis for a while. Davis has admitted in interviews and his 2019 memoir Compton Street Legend that he was in the Cadillac, the car from which the shots were fired and admitted to being one of the last living witnesses to the shooting.

Don’t read too much into PSV’s 4-0 defeat at the Emirates last month. The Dutch side might have played into Arsenal’s hands with their tactics but we expect a different story when Peter Bosz’s side clash with an off-colour Sevilla team.

Eindhoven are strong in front of their own fans and they’ve won all seven matches in the Eredivisie this term, scoring a massive 23 goals while conceding just two.

Conversely, their Spanish opponents – who drew 1-1 with Lens in their first group game – have lost four out of seven domestically and they are stationed 14th in the La Liga standings.

Football betting sites expect a home win and we’re on board with that.

Napoli vs Real Madrid Over 2.5 Goals
It’s difficult to call a winner at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Tuesday night, with both teams having scored late goals to land respective victories over Braga and Union Berlin in the first round of fixtures.

Napoli have found it hard to follow up last season’s blistering domestic form but they are capable of scoring goals, especially in front of their own fans.

Rudi Garcia’s side have scored four in successive clashes against Udinese and Lecce, with Victor Osimhen coming off the bench to find the net against the latter.

Real Madrid are also capable of ensuring three goals or more being scored in this match, with Los Blancos boasting the prolific Jude Bellingham who helped the team to a 3-0 victory away to Girona on Saturday.

Manchester United need any kind of win against Galatasaray on Tuesday night but this is something of a tricky fixture against unpredictable opponents.

Although the Turkish side only drew 2-2 with FC Copenhagen in their opening group game, they played their Danish opponents off the park before having to rally from two goals down.

Wilfried Zaha could line up against his former club and we’re happy to side with Galatasaray on the handicap, with a +1.5 goal start meaning this bet would still win if they lost by a single goal.

Considering United squeaked past Burnley at Turf Moor before losing 1-0 at home to Crystal Palace at the weekend, this is a bet we’re confident in.

United are short on goals right now and they also have defensive concerns, with Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw absent. The balance of the team isn’t quite right at the moment and we expect this clash to be a good deal tighter than the odds suggest.

Lens vs Arsenal – Arsenal win + BTTS No
Arsenal are warm favourites to build on their winning start in the Champions League but punters may not fancy the short odds of 4/7 offered by UK betting sites.

Mikel Arteta’s side began the group stage with a bloodless win against PSV and they should limit a Lens side who have started the season slowly.

The Ligue 1 outfit are in a lowly 15th position in the French top tier, with a slight upturn in domestic form not masking over a lack of goals.

Last month, they failed to find the net against Monaco and Metz in consecutive clashes, and they registered only two shots on target in last Friday’s 1-0 victory away to Strasbourg.

The release of President Bola Tinubu's academic records by Chicago State University has led to questions about his past. These records were made public following requests by Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate in the 2023 elections.

Farooq Kperogi, a columnist and social commentator, highlighted several discrepancies in these documents.

Firstly, the certificate Tinubu submitted to INEC differs from the certificates issued by CSU in 1979, suggesting forgery.

Additionally, the Southwest College transcript used for Tinubu's admission to CSU belongs to a female, raising suspicions about identity theft. However, Tinubu's admission letter from CSU addresses him as "Mr. Tinubu," not a woman.

There's also a chronological conundrum with the GCE A-level result, as Government College, Lagos, was established in 1974, while the result claimed a 1970 graduation.

Furthermore, Tinubu's recorded birthdate in CSU documents conflicts with his publicly stated birthdate. The transcripts also lack information about his secondary school education.

Lastly, there are misspellings of Tinubu's last name in some CSU documents, including "Tinububu," which is humorous given that "Bubu" is Buhari's nickname.

Atiku Abubakar's persistence in obtaining these records has shed light on these discrepancies, leaving questions about Tinubu's educational history. It remains to be seen how this revelation will impact his political career.

The Chicago State University (CSU) has released the academic records of President Bola Tinubu, following requests by Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election.
Over the weekend, the US district court for the northern district of Illinois ordered the CSU to release the academic records of Tinubu.

In response to Abubakar’s third request — which was to release a copy of the diplomas issued in 1997 — the university said the certificates match the format of the Tinubu replacement dated June 27, 1997.
“The documents responsive to this request which CSU, after diligent search, has been able to locate are produced herewith and Bates labeled Clabeledthrough CSU 0010. The students’ names on these diplomas have been redacted for privacy reasons. CSU is also producing, Bates labeled alabeled11 and 0012, diplomas produced for other CSU students (with their names redacted for privacy) which match the format of the Tinubu replacement dated June 27, 1997,” the university wrote.

Several samples of diplomas (certificates) awarded in 1979 to other students were released by the university as demanded by Abubakar.

Tinubu had previously claimed to have lost his original certificates but presented a replacement for his CSU diploma to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2023 presidential election.

In the new documents released by CSU, Tinubu was addressed as a “Mr” in what looked like an admission letter.

He also ticked “male” in the undergraduate admissions application form.

However, some of the transcripts circulating on the internet read “F”, suggesting “female”.

The samples of diplomas issued in 1997 released by CSU bear the same font and logo as what Tinubu submitted to INEC, but there is a discrepancy in the date.

CSU had, in its affidavit, taken responsibility for the discrepancy, blaming it on a clerical error.

On September 19, Jeffrey Gilbert, a US magistrate judge, granted the request and ordered CSU to release Tinubu’s academic records within 24 hours.

However, the president moved to block it by filing an appeal against the order.

Nancy Maldonado, a federal judge, overruled Tinubu’s objections and ordered CSU to release the president’s academic records.

In its response to Abubakar’s request, the university said it could not find a copy of the original certificate it issued to Tinubu in 1979.

“CSU does not in the ordinary course keep copies of student diplomas, and after diligent search cannot locate a copy of the original diploma prepared for Mr Tinubu in 1979, hence has no documents responsive to this request,” the institution said.

The university released redacted diplomas of other students similar to that of Tinubu’s to show that the president graduated from its institution in the aforementioned year.

The Nasarawa State Election Petition Tribunal has declared David Ombugadu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) the winner of the Nasarawa State Governorship Election, sacking the incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Tribunal, led by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, gave the ruling on Monday.

In the ruling, two of the justices agreed that the election was won by the PDP while one judge dissented.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lafia had in March declared Abdullahi Sule, the winner of the governorship election in Nasarawa State.

Prof Ishaya Tanko, the INEC returning officer said Sule polled a total of 347,209 votes to defeat his closest opponent, David Ombugadu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 283,016 votes.

The Tribunal, earlier in the day, also dismissed a petition filed by the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) challenging Governor Sule’s victory for lacking in merit.

Last week, I was hanging out on the beach with a guy I’ve been seeing for the past few months when he uttered the hottest words a man can say to a woman in this, the summer of 2023: “Do you wanna go see the Barbie movie together?"

Because I am a human woman with a beating heart, this was an easy yes. I was dying to see the movie and, TBH, it had been a minute since I last gave a hand job in a movie theater went on a movie date and I was excited to revisit the height of high school romance with my grown-up crush.

More importantly, it turns out that a man’s reaction to the Barbie movie can reveal some crucial intel—namely whether or not he is a secretly sexist loser whose masculinity is fragile enough to be wounded by a movie about a doll.

While some men might use this realization as an opportunity for some self-reflection, it’s no secret that many of them will instead go on the defensive, writing off the Barbie movie as an exercise in man-hating from a bunch of overdramatic feminists who clearly haven’t noticed that we’re obviously all equal now, duh.

So when a crowded theater meant plan A (movie theater hand job) was canceled and we’d have to resort to actually watching and enjoying the show like civilized adults, I anxiously waited to see how my crush would respond to this bright-pink news flash that “Hey, guess what? Patriarchy is real and not good and still happening!”

Much to my relief, nay delight, this man absolutely ate that shit up. I honestly think he had more fun at the Barbie movie than I did, and I obviously had a blast. He laughed at literally every single joke (seeing Barbie with a Not Particularly Online Guy is especially fun because he hasn’t already seen all the memes and is rather endearingly entertained) and wasn’t offended by the movie’s completely on point if intentionally over-the-top mockery of traditional masculinity or the fact that Barbie just wasn’t that into Ken. (His response was actually just, “Aww, he loves her!”) In short, he got it, didn’t think about it too hard, enjoyed it, and in the process, managed to confirm himself to be the respectably nontoxic man I’d cautiously assumed he was.

Look, is the bar rather low? Why, yes. Yes, it is. Do I now want to marry this man and consummate our love with a movie theater hand job? Honestly, yeah, kind of. The TL;DR of it all is if you’ve got a man in your life, you should be aware that an innocent Barbie movie date conveniently (or perhaps devastatingly) doubles as a test of his feminism tolerance levels. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Naira Marley says he is making arrangements to return to Nigeria to assist in the ongoing investigation into the death of Mohbad.

Mohbad, the former Marlian Records signee, died on September 12 and was buried next day.

Marley, the Marlian Records head honcho, is one of the persons of interest in the death of Mohbad.

In a lengthy statement shared on his Instagram handle on Tuesday evening, Marley said he has been “out of the country since August 31, 2023”.

He said he would honour the police invitation and fully cooperate with the investigation by “giving my version of the events”.

Marley also insisted that “I have no hand in Mohbad’s death” and “certainly have no reason to be a fugitive”.

“I have chosen no to say anything since due to being distraught over his dean and in order not to jeopardize the investigation being carried out by the government agencies.

“In addition, I have been out of the country since the 31st of August, 2023 and I’m yet to return.

“In light of the police invitation, I am making arrangements to return to the country to assist the investigation and give my version of the events.

“I am fully cooperating with the Police team and I certainly have no reason to be a fugitive when I have no hand in his death.

“I am certain that the culprit behind his death and has a vendetta against me and are fueling public opinions to have me lynched for reasons known to them.

“In due time the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death will be unveiled and the world will know the truth. This kind of scenario of attempting to set someone up is not novel in the industry as other great musicians have experienced the same and came out better and stronger. Mine will not be an exception as I am innocent of the accusations.

“Mohbad left the label in September 2022, the label accepted his departure. Marlian Music did not stop or interfere with his career or releases since and he has been with oneRPM.

“Legal efforts were made to reconcile his concerns regarding the work we had done together.

“The rumors regarding the label being a drug cartel are untrue. I am not a drug lord, neither do I Marley belong to any cult or fraternity. I’m dedicated to proving my innocence and I’m cooperating with the authorities to clear my name with sufficient evidence.

“Marlian Music is an independent label run by a small intimate team. We run a legitimate label that focuses on championing exceptional talent, breaking new acts and nurturing them.

“I will like to clearly state that I have never fought or attacked Mohbad. For the avoidance of doubt I have never instructed anyone, friend, known associates or fans to attack, bully or harass Mohbad.

“With regards to the talent on the label, none of our artists ever fought or mistreated Mohbad. I share my deepest condolences to the family.

“Let’s be mindful as we seek justice to focus on supporting the police and authorities with relevant information and evidence surrounding his death so that those responsible will be apprehended. I am positive that at the end of the day, the truth will prevail and I shall be exonerated.

“My lawyers are already in touch with the police and government agencies and will support in every way necessary.

“Without a doubt I will honor his memory and I promise to do right by him and his family.”

The Marlian Record label boss earlier said although they had “disagreements, no harm whatsoever was wished on Mohbad”.

Thousands of Nigerians have demanded justice for Mohbad in nationwide protests.

The Lagos police inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe Mohbad’s death on September 18.

On September 21, the police exhumed Mohbad’s corpse for autopsy and are awaiting the results.

A Nigerian woman has been arrested for claiming that a tomato paste she bought in a market tasted sugary.

The paste, Nagiko tomato mix, is manufactured by Erisco Foods Limited, Lagos.

In the post seen by PREMIUM TIMES, Ms Okoli said she had gone to the market on 16 September with the intention of buying Gino or Sonia brand of tomato paste but could not find them.

She said she later bought the Nagiko tomato mix which she had planned to use in making stew.

“When I opened it, I decided to taste it, Omo! Sugar is just too much!” she wrote.

In the post, she urged other Facebook users to confirm if they had used the product before, apparently to ascertain if they had similar experiences.

Her Facebook profile suggests she hails from Nnewi in Anambra State but resides in Lagos State, South-west Nigeria.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered that she was arrested on Sunday by the police.

Erisco Foods Limited described as “untrue and unfounded”, that its paste tastes sugary.

In a statement issued by its management, the company said it was built on the vision and mission to manufacture and promote healthy and wholly made-in-Nigeria tomato products with a commitment to feed Africa, including Nigeria.

“Our initial reaction was to ignore and disregard the post which was obviously intended to mislead our esteemed customers and discredit the image of Erisco Foods Limited,” the company said in a statement.

It claimed that similar posts were previously instigated by “some elements and syndicates” uncomfortable with the company’s “market dominance”.

“Considering, however, that Erisco Foods Limited has built a reputation as a credible organisation committed to due process and the good of humanity, we have decided to bring the said publication to the attention of relevant authorities,” the statement added.

The company vowed that it would take “all necessary actions against any malicious attack” on its reputation.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Babatunde Irukera, announced the arrest of Ms Okoli, over her post.

Mr Mr Irukera, a lawyer, in a post via his X handle (formerly Twitter) on Monday, said FCCPC operatives confirmed to him that the suspect had been transferred to Force Headquarters in Abuja.

“She was no longer at the station on arrival. (I am) working to determine the exact current location and engaging Force Headquarters in Abuja,” he wrote on the microblogging site.

“Summons being issued to Erisco Foods Limited immediately.”

‘You acted viciously and irresponsibly’
Reacting, a human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, criticised Erisco Foods Limited for allegedly “instigating” the police to arrest and detain the customer for her negative review of their product.

Mr Effiong, in a post via his X handle on Monday, said the company’s management “acted viciously and irresponsibly”.

The lawyer stressed that the company ought to have issued a public statement or even reached out to the woman to understand her view and explain their position if they disagreed with her review.

“That would have earned the company and the brand more patronage,” he said.

Mr Effiong criticised the police over the arrest, and said it was unfortunate that the police had “refused to reform itself”.

The lawyer said it is upsetting that “any charlatan” in the country can easily weaponise the police, whom he said have continued to criminalise civil disputes in the country.

“We cannot continue like this,” he said.

Afrobeats artist Seun Kuti expressed that a significant portion of those who criticize President Bola Tinubu would hold him in high regard if they had the chance to meet him.

Popular Nigerian singer, Michael Adebayo, popularly known as Ruger, has claimed that Nigeria doesn't boast of the best women in the world.

The 'Asiwaju Crooner' stated during a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, that any man who is well-travelled would attest to his claims.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has warned that African will remain in chains till it breaks free from the shackles of the criminal enterprises of drug barons and syndicates of illicit drugs.

He gave the warning in Abuja on Tuesday when he declared open the 31st meeting of the Heads of National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies, Africa (HONLAF) at the Abuja Continental Hotel.


The president, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, implored heads of national drug law enforcement agencies in Africa to renew the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in their respective countries.

“If we don’t dismantle the criminal enterprises that threaten our future and build a brighter tomorrow for all Africans, we will remain in chains in a diseased and amoral world, as will our children and their children,” he told the anti-narcotics agencies’ chiefs.


In his keynote address titled, ‘Rising Above the Drug Threat’, President Tinubu observed that Africa was “at the mercy of a threat that knows neither race nor geography, neither gender nor social class”.

To this effect, he enjoined the heads of drug law enforcement agencies to consider the conference in Abuja as a ray of hope and a catalyst for positive change across the continent.

The president, in a statement by presidential spokeman, Stanley Nkwocha, thanked them for their sacrifices in ensuring a world that is free of illicit drugs.

He said, “This threat has crossed borders and destroyed societies and dreams. Without the moral commitment of the men and women in this room, this threat would have left cities, countries, and even civilizations erased. So, I must commend you for your sacrifices in the bids to keep our world drug-free, sane and safe.

“This conference emphasizes your investment across borders to protect us from the devastations of drugs, a threat that only submits to the enforcement of the law.

“Therefore, we are grateful to HONLAF and its partners, notably the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, for creating this avenue, for offering intelligence and drug law enforcement officials a grand opportunity to compare notes, collaborate, and build networks that would be several steps ahead of the criminal network of drug transnational organizations.”

Tinubu noted that in the last couple of decades, criminal organisations had made frantic efforts to breach the security measures in African countries in a bid to pollute the minds of their citizens, adding that the anti-narcotics agencies had proven to be a thorn in their flesh.

The president who doubles as the chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) stated: “But while it’s a compliment that drug-law enforcement organizations are a threat to their criminal empires, their desperation must never be taken for granted.

“Without you as gatekeepers of healthy nations, humanity as we know it would have long been perverted. So, on behalf of the world, I say: thank you, thank you to all of you who have kept us from being polluted and destroyed.

“For us, the commitment to the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse is not just a matter of policy; it is a moral imperative. We recognize that a population at war with drugs is not a dividend but a liability. We believe that the future of our youth, the strength of our institutions, and the well-being of our communities depend on our ability to eradicate this threat.”

President Tinubu further stressed the need for the the anti-narcotics agencies to consolidate established contacts, strengthen operational existing partnerships and cooperation among them at the sub-regional and regional levels.

This, he said, would make trafficking of illicit drugs and movement of drug syndicates difficult in the African continent.

He continued: “So, I must appeal to you to see this gathering as an avenue for the exchange of novel ideas and the development of practical strategies. We must consolidate established contacts, operational partnerships, and cooperation to ensure that the outcomes of this four-day deliberation advance public safety and the emergence of drug-free African communities.

“Our strength has always been our proactive actions to prevent any individual or group from turning our countries into a minefield of drug trafficking. So, we must prioritize prevention, education, and rehabilitation to empower our youth with knowledge and opportunities. We must steer them away from the treacherous path of drug abuse and trafficking and protect our economy from the consequences of their actions.

“This administration will continue to provide the necessary support, motivation, and tools for the NDLEA to fulfill its mandate. We understand the connection between the success of the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking and the attainment of a number of goals on our socioeconomic and security agenda.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I know you don’t need to be reminded of the sacred task before us. I know you are fully aware of the number of people and dreams that depend on your decisions and actions to reach their destination. But, more importantly, I know that you are up to the task.”

On the choice of Nigeria for the conference, President Tinubu said it is a profound recognition of the campaign and fight against illicit drugs in the country by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Welcoming guests earlier, Chairman of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), restated the stakeholders’ commitment to addressing the world’s drug problem, noting that Nigeria will continue to uphold the objectives of multilateral organizations dedicated to combating drug trafficking and related crimes.

He emphasized the need for global partnerships in addressing drug trafficking and other vices, noting that world’s drug problem cannot be effectively tackled by individual entities.


Speakers at the opening session of the meeting included the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC), Mr Ghada Fathi Waly; the UNODC Country Representative, Mr Oliver Stolpe; The Commandant of the National Institute for Security Studies, Mr Ayodele Adeleke, and Representative of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, among others.
