Echidime:She is not barren, she chose not to have children. And if that is your interpretation of what Jesus said, you should be not call yourself a Christian. Jesus was not talking about the fruit of the womb, he was talking about spiritual fruits. Lots of great Christians (male & female) died without kids. You think Paul and Mother Theresa were "CUT down"? You clearly do not bear the fruit of being gracious in speech. |
http://www.oprah.com/tows/pastshows/200704/tows_past_20070413.jhtml Again, you all need to watch the show (pull up the last segment) to see what Oprah really had to say and stop your huffing and puffing. She said nothing of the sort. |
Thank you Charlione! Again, I watched the show at least twice and Oprah said nothing of the sort. Another urban legend grows. |
shigidi:I guess you can multiply the current EPS by the average PE of that industry. It does not take into account the future earnings of that company. Hope that answers you question. ![]() |
@ All, You guys are wasting your breath. I watched the show and Oprah said nothing of the sort. She did admit that most of the scammers were Nigerian but she also featured scammers from the US. She also said "I know not all Nigerians are into this kind of fraud, I know there are some wonderful and hard-working Nigerians, so save your emails" Whoever wrote that letter to the Punch did not see the show. I did and still have it recorded on my DVR. |
@ Roughtcut, you think they'll use the money to control shares prices? It wouldn't surprise me. Can't think of what else they plan to use the money for. Me thinks they should launch a bid for CitiGroup Wouldn't that be something. If it's really 500B, they'll have to add an additional 12B shares and get up to ~23B total. |
The offer is now complete and the GDRs have been listed on the LSE. http://proshareng.com/myproshare/portal_news.php?id=2671 The bit of new that interests me is that they listed 3.85B additional shares with CSCS to back-up the GDRs. Figure that number in future EPS calculations |
@ Stanchuks, Forget that gist on livestock feeds. The EPS calculations Emaachile used last week did not inlcude the additional 500M+ shares that the company sold during last year's rights issue. He used the current number of shares (24M). If you get the full picture, it's not so enticing. |
dollyp1cute:With FBN attempting to absorb N500B? You wish! I had to read it 3 times. and it still reads N500B. Amazing! |
Enough of the beef with Iwerebor! Read his post (#1573) carefully. He wants 200k profit from a 800k investment and not the other way around. Still a challenge though. I suggest Wema bank. @ K2 Greif makes drums and the EPS is real and impressive. Look at the volumes being traded. can't see it? There isn't any! If you find any to buy, please let me know. |
@ oneshola1, did your other account get blocked by Mr Osewa or are you plugging your (still awful) website hoping no one notices your name change? Leave us alone! |
@ SOJ, "no need to make fundamental analysis"? Famous last words! |
@ Tmoni, THERE WILL BE A BULL RUN! Access has been on bid for the last 2 weeks: more buyers than sellers. This inspite of the coming PO. No brainer that there'll be a bull run. @ Iwerebor, First bank should take a while. Oceanic and UBA got lifted ~2 months after the offers closed. |
@ aylala and Dollyp, I also did the GTB calculations late last night and saw the GDRs are being sold at the equivalent of N147 = $1. Means people are better off selling the shares and buying the GDRs. Ay is right, to equalize the prices, GTB will have to fall to ~N30. I get burned yet again! Looks like I'll have to wait a long time. |
Icon4s:From Shylock? don't even think about it. You cannot guarantee that Access will do more than 70% in the next year. Past performance is no indication of the future.@ Abocana, I'd put it all in Access. If you must buy a PO (I don't like them), Access has an outstanding growth rate. We can't say the same about Dang Flour until we see the prospectus. |
@easimoni Just read your post, just a couple of questions brother. Do you have any idea of when the Japaul PO would begin? And please, are you suggesting that Access is over-rated or inflated? From what you said about AP, do you think its not going to go up soon enough? Thanks Man
Based on recently released, I can no longer rail against Access bank. Their results have been too good! It is now (in my humble opinion) a well-priced offer. AP: 9 months was 2.7B, 12 months was 2.1B (PAT). 12 months was lower than 9 months! enough said. Dunno if they are losing money or if they mislead the public on interim results. I would not buy. In fact I just sold. ![]() |
@ Shigidi, you make perfect sense. With an EPS of 40k, I'd pay N10 for Japual, esp. with such a high growth rate. That gives us a PE of 25. If we assume Japaul has a growth rate of 100%, we get a PEG of 0.25 which is lower than all banks except Skye and Access. In otther words, based on growth, it's a relatively cheap stock. Be sure to figure in the extra shares about to be sold when calculating EPS. |
Aylala, nice work. all errors are forgiven. Otokx, my eyes are bad enough. Wassup with the "micro"fonts. Frankiriri, couldn't agree more. I've been burned on all the purchases I've made recently. have to be really careful. |
My guy, you have issues. Are you simply trying to keep your threads at the top of the pile. there are 100s of websites with the info you are displaying. Offer us something we can't find elsewhere, then we'll listen |
What report? Your website is simply bits and pieces from other sites. |
I decided to "google" livestock feeds after the gist posted earlier this week and came up with this. http://www.stockmarketnigeria.com/2006/11/ Looks like they promised an EPS of 13k during the rights issue. Not good for a company trading at N4.50 |
Gettolove:No I don't. I think people have been mislead by the share reconstruction (N5.43 to N17.1) to think that the share gained value and some bank officers and analsysts actually marketed it that way. Bottom line is the stock is trading at a forward PE of 31 (using a FY to June PAT of N6B). Not exactly a must-buy. |
@ Shigidi 1) The standard way to calculate PE is to use trailing EPSs. In English, you use EPS over the last four quarters. The best way to calculate what a stock will be worth in your time window is to use forecasted EPS. Where can you get forecasted EPS you ask? That's why I joined this forum; looking for gist that'll help me refine my forecasted EPS! Most analysts project at the company's current growth rate. No guarantee the company can keep it up. Just check out AP's results today. I just wait for Big Boy Larry's CRYSTAL BALLLLLLL (sorry Larry, couldn't resist) ![]() 2) the math: Issued shares = 10.19B, PAT projections = N6-7B, EPS = ~60+k. If PE of 30 is reasonable price = 30*0.6 = N18+. Is a PE of 30 optimistic? Of course but the gist is the 9 months was 5.4B so 6B for FY may be conservative. |
piko, topic has been discussed at length in the thread below. Loads of good info and links to more info. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-64907.0.html |
@ Egoldman, thank you o jare! @ Gettolove, rebranding no go put money for pocket but at least it shows the management is forward thinking. My early retirement plan is tied up in Wema . I'm sure the much awaited Full Year result result will show an EPS >60k and a DPS of ~40k. This should push the share towards N20. Keeping my fingers crossed! |
@ the First Inland people, maybe someone has seen the FY April 07 results and is busy dumping. |
@ CrazyT, your post reads "three good stocks". Don't see any on your list. ABC, Fidelity and AIICO are overpriced and not growing fast enough. Don't know much about the other three. Wanaj0, over to u. |
Actually, I think they must have paid a 40k dividend. Can't remember what they announced when they released the FY results. Silly me. |
@ Wanaj0, Yup, I noticed BETA slowed down a tad today. First time in almost 2 weeks it didn't gain 5%. ![]() NBC & M&B: a bit pricey for me. Both have PEs in the 40s. I know they have long-term potential but in this market, patience is not my virtue (I confess Okay, no UACN! |
@ All, does anyone know why Access bank dropped 40k today? I thought the company was on technical suspension because of the public offer. Is it over already? ![]() |
Wendy is right, the data on results date back to 99 so I'd like to know what the latest info is do I can crunch my own numbers. When anyone has luck getting on the NSE webpage for livestock, please let me know. ![]() @ Emmaachile, thanks for the info but please point us to the source. This could be a big one! |
