zendy:
Nnamdi Kanu has never claimed to be an Igbo leader. He is the leader of a multi-ethnic independence movement of which Igbos are amongst. Unlike others you mentioned, Kanu has no interest in politics or political power. As for killing the Biafran ideology, Kanu took it to higher hights than anyone else since Ojukwu. The Biafran ideology is not something anyone can kill, only a superior ideology can kill another ideology
Mr Zendy don't allow emotions becloud your judgement of Nnamdi Kanu. I agree it takes time to swallow the bitter truth about the fallout of IPOB, but in time you'll understand. Something can be dramatically killed when a noble idea (of which Biafra is) gets hijacked and built on hate, semitism, non-opposition and dictatorship. History will judge him fairly. But thank goodness the Igbo nation still survived the agenda of Kanu and his sponsors.
Politics › Re: NDIGBO: Now That Our Beloved ALEX EKWUEME Is No More by Eastlink(m):
Leadership is not given, it is earned. Zik and Ojukwu for instance earned their leadership in time past while Ekwueme was just a sitting duck with the ineffectual tag 'Igbo leader'. Please nobody should mention Nnamdi Kanu here. He is simply a chalartan and con-man that got exposed. Kanu singlehandedly betrayed and killed the Biafran Ideology and don't ask me how he did it.

Here is my list of people who fit to fill the role of Igbo leader based on natural ascendency and service in general to the Igbo nation.

Col Joseph Achuzia (rtd) Former Biafran war hero and pan-Igboist.

Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe Former Vice and chief of defence staff to General IBB.

Obi Chike Edozien Obi of Asaba and foremost Igbo traditional leader and uniting factor.

Sen. Chinedu Ekweremadu Current deputy Senate President and Igbo voice.

Emeka Anyaoku Former Commonwealth Sec. Gen. and international figure.

Mbazulike Amaechi 1st republic Minister and nationalist.

Rochas Okorocha Governor of Imo State and former Presidential aspirant.

Orji Uzor Kalu Former Governor of Abia state and business Entrepreneur.

Peter Obi Former Governor of Anambra state and politician.

Prof. Patrick Utomi Former Economic adviser to President Shagari and Presidential aspirant.

Sullivan Chime Former Governor of Enugu state.

Chibuike R Ameachi Former Governor of Rivers state and politician.

Prof. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Former Nigerian finance minister and world bank head.

Innoson Chukwuma Industrialist and business Entrepreneur.

Prof. Chinedu Nebo Former vice-chancellor UNN.

Prof. Liyel Imoke Former Governor of Cross-River state.

APC is a disaster in IMO state.
There is money in IMO, why not focus on industrialisation in that okigwe axis, expand owerri, look into rural development.
That ihiagwa futo/nekede road is terrible.
IMO need a game changer as Governor.
Every state has it's terrible part. You need to go on a tour of the five SE states and see for yourself. Rochas is always in the news all the time whether for good or bad. The opposition are just trying to give him a bad name just to finish him off. We all talk about Imo state everyone, rather than talk about the sum total of all the eastern states. You just talk about Ihiagwa road, have you seen the recent photo of roads in other states? They don't bring these photo's out for you to criticize, but all they do is post that of Imo. Why? Because their number 1 enemy is Rochas. Have you been to my state Rivers recently? I guess you haven't? If you have, then you shouldn't pay attention to those fighting Rochas.

For you saying okorocha is better than Ugwuanyi of Enugu you just proved to me now delusional and stupid you are. I am not an Ibo person but I have lived in enugu for over 8 years and even though Ugwuanyi isn't working up to what Sullivan did, he's still way better an option than Rochas.
I believe you have your reasons for saying that sha so I would like to hear it how okorocha is better than Ugwuanyi
You're not even Igbo and you are yet to visit the eastern states, yet you open your gutter mouth to say trash. Ugwuanyi is almost finishing his first tenure and the only thing he can boast of is the sub standard Nsukka inner road. Did you pass through 9th mile road leading to Nsukka? That place is a death trap and getting more worse since Sullivan did a renovation. Yet non of you will wail at Ugwuanyi the crying governor, non of you wail at Ikpeazu and his dullness and even at Obiano who has been underperforming since last two years. But when it comes to Rochas, you will open your gutter mouth to wail. Well, I don't blame your types, I blame Imo people who have been deceived by PDP sponsored media to destroy Rochas image. Let them come to my state and stay for just one year and see if they won't run away from insecurity and bad roads. Yet these same fools will rate Wike higher than Rochas. Nonsense!
Politics › Re: Flooded Owerri And Claims Of Photoshopped Pictures by Eastlink(m): 10:47am On Jan 12, 2018
All these media attacks against Okorocha doesn't hold water anymore. In time, these propagandist will start rolling on the floor if Rochas wins again. They should come up with another lie again. Whether we want to believe it or not, Rochas is currently the best governor in Igboland followed by Ebonyi governor and then Obiano. I still don't rate Wike high, he is underperforming the same as Okowa.

Some people just hate Rochas out of envy. Abagworo tell your oga at the top to invest more money on media and propaganda. Let them recruit more hands in the social media to paint Rochas in good light, because this is the only way he can defeat all his ganged up enemies. All Rochas good jobs seems to go unnoticed because of the cries of the opposition both within and outside the state. For God sake people should give this man a breather and let him be. If only my Wike can be as functional as Rochas, my state wouldn't be as bad as it is now

Let me say it here loud and clear. ROCHAS IS THE BEST GOVERNOR OF IGBO EXTRACTION. May God continue to fight for him.

Yes I agree with you...Anambra Igbo is central. Abia, Imo, Enugu and Ebonyi, Delta and Rivers have many dialects. What's funny is all these many Igbo dialects speakers even those in Delta like Agbor, and Rivers Ikwerre understand Anambra central Igbo well well. That's why most Rivers marry from Anambra...Peter Odili, Ameachi, Hon. Nwuche, Amadi, I mean all of them that I know marry mostly from Anambra. I lived in PH for 5 yrs, 1 out of every 3 married Ikwerres I knew, married from Anambra or Enugu. We all know Anambra and Enugu are one people except the Nnsuka that have Igala mix up and dialect.
Shush! Who gave you that crap that we marry more from Anambra state. What happened to Imo and Abia. Because two or three top personalities married Anambra women doesnt mean it's the pattern. Infact I love and admire ndi Anambra but please stop spreading falsehood that you can't back up. Rivers people seems more attached to Imo peeps than other Igbo state this I know firsthand cos my mother and granny hails from Owerri.
Secondly, from what I've observed during my study of the Igbo language in WAEC, as well as the Igbo Bible and numerous native christian music in Igbo, it's obvious that the Imo state Igbo comprise a large chunk of what we know as central Igbo.

We neither have the number in the national assembly nor the political allies to achieve a referendum so Biafra can be actualized. With Rochas, Ndigbo has a shot at the presidency. We can create one more state to increase Ndigbo representation in the national assembly, empower Ndigbo in the South South, adjust Ndigbo borders properly so all the Igbo people cut out from the south east in other to deplete our numbers and added to the middle belt will be added to the fold. We can build some infrastructure in igboland so when Biafra is achieved, we leave with something tangible
I agree with this line of thought also. Let's grab what's rightly ours under one Nigeria and whenever the country self-distructs we won't be on the losing side.
Politics › Re: Governor Okorochas Politics And The Ignorance Of Ndi Igbo by Eastlink(m): 12:50pm On Nov 07, 2016
Ugik:
I stand to say that those calling for Gov Okorochas head boils down to the level of political ignorance among my southeast brothers which is quite alarming. suffix it to say that for Ndi igbo to attain full political recognition among the various entities that make up this polity called Nigeria is going to be a Herculean task due to 2 basic reasons:
1.considering the supposed marginalization we have been lamenting since after the Nigerian Biafra war of 1967 and the abysmal gap it has created between us and other zones in the country. This singular act which is is politically valid as politics is a game of who gets what but in the process of making demands we end up antagonizing other regions who do not share our views instead of dialoging and politicking as our representatives do,we the masses instead throw insults at them or at our fellow regional brothers thus bringing us back to square one.The likes of Ngige,Onu,Rocha's and the DSP,Ekweremadu are all fighting for our general wellbeing but like I said earlier all we do is insult them all.Must they be in the same party? Is their primary aim not to bring development to this region using their good offices?

2.The Biafra connection: Secession is recognized globally as a right of people to self rule.its also recognized in the UN Charter and I have no objections to it but I must also point out that if a referendum is conducted,I'll gladly vote against it.Many of us(not all of us)want to secede. Good and fine. how do you go about it?by throwing jabs at other regions who have reps at The Senate, the very Senate that can amend law to accommodate our proposal. isn't it funny we are yet to understand the rudiments of politics. do we achieve our aim by throwing insults at our political leaders who have the mandate of majority? or by insulting world leaders who played a role in the defeat of the secession and who will still play a role in any event that will unfold but their role will be determined by the political calculations they make based on what those who want to secede brings on the table. They helped Egypt,Libya, south Sudan and Israel.

Where do we go from here? Ndi igbo, most especially the youths must imbibe developmental politics, its high time we spread tentacles and offer an olive branch to. the regions we are at logger heads with..we must understand our differences and address it.We must support our leaders irrespective of political divide and quit all these blame games.Partisan politics and ethnic politics is not favouring us and will not.we can engage in partisan politics during elections but after elections, support our political leaders irrespective of political divide.
with development politics, other regions may help foster a referendum on this issue of referendum, friendship will spread overboard.
That's why those calling for Okorochas head because he wore a northern regalia are simply not in touch with reality.am not holding brief for him or APC because i dont know how well he is doing in Imo State but I love how he is spreading his political tentacles which is what Ndi Igbo needs now and not our usual politics of ethnicity where the various eastern states insult themselves. Together We can all speak with one voice.

God Bless Enugu State
God Bess Ndi Igbo
God Bless Nigeria
Good write up OP. Even though am not a fan of Rochas, I will admit he's the best chance Ndigbo has towards the presidency any sooner. It's time the Igbo nations seperates emotions from rational thinking. It's high time we totally drop emotions from politics. Ipob and other groups should allow this man be and focus on their liberationist mission. So long as the Igbo nation is still within Nigeria, we must always play politics that can be of great benefits to us. Like building bridges and supporting our own during national elections rather than castigating them while gifting clever ethnic groups our slot, as happened in the time of OBJ and GEJ.
A word is enough for the wise! Ndigbo separate emotions from politics.

The kind of hatred exhibited in this thread against the Igbos is the major reason I decided to pick up my moniker and fight for the interest of the Igbos in SS and SE.

Northerners ain't our enemies my fellow Igbos, even Gowon has apologised countless times on behalf of his role during the war, ojukwu and gowon are friends before and after the war, is left to us to forge a renewed road and extend our hands to northerners who has long been reaching to us. Let Nigeria interest us even for a bit please my fellow brothers do see reasons with me.

Northerners especially the Hausas ain't our enemies, let's accept them now!!!
I believe Our only grudge against northerners is their uneducated youth rascality when it comes with their Muslim religion but with tolerance, education and wisdom we can manage the situation. No one is perfect as even the Igbos too ain't perfect.

As you can see Nothing like southern unity. It has not worked before and it won't work in the future.

If you are in the east, just come out in an open space where people gathered and look around you, I believe you will concur with me that the Hausa's are the largest non Igbo ethnicity in the east. And we can't do away with their services. We rapor with them well here and in their states up north, so why are we still pushing them aside politically? E no make sense.

Is time to form an ally with whom we know, we have lived with, we have understood, we can tolerate, we have fought and make up with. With whom we can trust. The Hausas fit into this perfectly.

A word they say is enough for a wise but I have spoken more than a word.

You made some good point. Kudos to the South-East senators for supporting the creation of the NEDC. I think it's time they lobby the north to do the same also for Ndigbo. The Yorubas and other hateful tribes (in the south) should be ashamed of themselves for not acceding to the implementation of the 3R in the east after the end of the civil war. It's now someone is shouting southern unity. To hell with southern unity it sucks!

Yea, this is exactly why we keep saying SS/SE. Not because of Ijaws/Isokos/Urhobos/Itsekiris/Edos that often get the media hype whenever SS/Niger delta is mentioned and had since taken SS to mean their portion only, but because we know and are well informed that there are still many fragments of Igbo speaking people scattered all over the 6 SS states, and we are not going to leave even one of them alone for any one of those groups that now claim
the term SS as their customized property to claim, without a referendum to determine the stand of the majority of our people there.

We will keep screaming SE/SS and might soon add, NC to it, to accommodate those of us in Benue state. The bitter souls can continue shouting "Attachee by force", we don't care.

Now I know why most of the Igbo groups in Rivers state played along albeit smartly with the Ijaws & choose distinct identities instead of emphasizing their Igboness. It pays politically to bear Ikwere, Etche, Ndoni, Egbema, Oyigbo, Ndoki etc distinct ethnic nationalities & lay claim for governorship! I think I'll stop disparaging them since I now understand their logic which is political self preservation. The op forgot to add the non indigen Igbo population in Rivers State, which if added into the mix, will give them an overwhelming 90% of total eligible voters in the state!! But we cant support oppression when we are also victim of such in Nigeria.
I don't support oppression. Infact it would be a good thing if a Riveriner emerges Governor at the end of Wike's tenure. Who wouldn't want peace and harmony in his home state. I do brother.
However, what pisses me off is the usual denigration a few Ijaws have shown for anything Igbo. Why would some people go as far as renewing the post-civil war agenda of wiping the term Igbo ethnic group in a website. I'm from Egbema and the RVSG recognizes me and my folks as Igbos. But when some people start to obliterate my identity from the list of tribes in the state, then you expect some backlash. The website may be fake or cloned alright, but the same nonsense was carried out again in the Rivers state Wikipedia page. And someone would tell me the Yoruba's did it. This is where my renewed anger is coming from.

Ijaw 101
Kiri is land
Ama means kingdom or town
Like in Opubo ama there is a group called Amatemeso
Meaning spirit of the town, we use kiri and only kiri for land
You seem a cool guy. The reason I vented my point in that manner was the way you lot go as far as trying to falsify Ndoki origin to Ijaw. Though the Ibani people speak Igbo, we are still less concerned about them unless you push us to the wall with your Ndoki claim too. Ibani people can be whatever they want, Ijaw or anything, but in the case of Ndoki its a no go area.
So lets talk like matured people.
Ama means similar thing in both Igbo and Ijaw. In Igbo it means a place or the entrance to a compound. In Ijaw as you said a town or kingdom.

Food for thought OP. After the elapse of Wike's tenure come 2022 an Etche man must be allowed to produce the next Governor of Rivers state for the sake of equity. The Ogoni's will then be considered for Governorship position in 2030, thereafter it goes back to the Ahoada upland group again. From there an Opobo man will be given the next shot to maintain the cycle.
