The Methodist Church Nigeria, Archdiocese of Kaduna, on Sunday ordained Right Reverend Nkechi Nwosu as the Church’s first female bishop, IGBERETV reports.

Right Reverend Nkechi Nwosu was formally enthroned as the Bishop of Jos by the Archbishop of Kaduna, Most Reverend Joseph Nnonah at the Christ Methodist Cathedral Church in Jos, North Central Nigeria.

The church service formally gave effect to the decision of the biennial Conference of Methodist Church Nigeria that was held in 2022 where Nwosu was elected as the Bishop of Jos.

Members of the Diocese of Jos converged to witness the enthronement service.

In her remarks, Nwosu said God has made all humans equal. She encouraged all Nigerians to always seeks the face of God, especially as the general elections in Nigeria begins on February 25.

“We must all go out there and agree with God, listen to the Spirit of God, and do what God said we should do,” the new Bishop stated.

“Do that so that God will use us and anybody he will put on that seat to restore Nigeria to a place of pride in Africa, and the world.”

Nigerian media personality, Nedu has said that ladies who participate in the Big Brother Naija reality show, do so just to make themselves available for ''customers'', IGBERETV reports.

Speaking during his podcast show, Nedu said;

Korra Obidi has gone on social media to accuse ex-husband Justin Dean of continuing to make her life miserable even after their divorce was finalised, IGBERETV reports.

The mother-of-two said Justin took their daughters from her after their older daughter, June, said she's hungry.

Korra said he has now gone to pay lawyers to begin another round of court battles to get custody of their daughters and she fears for the safety of the little ones while in their father's custody.

She then proceeded to narrate the abuse she suffered from Justin.

She said he once called her a "cunt" when they were at a party and told her male friends to line up so she can perform MouthAction on them.

She added that he also pushed her at the party then would have succeeded in gaslighting her that it didn't happen but friends who witnessed it confirmed it did.

She said that incident left her with a scar on her bum. She also accused him of always abusing her then telling her she imagined it all.

"If I'm lying to you, let me fall down and die here," Korra said as she swore she's telling the truth.

Korra said Justin waited till her sister Nancy and husband, who were visiting her in the US, had left to pull the recent stunt he did. Crying, she told those women who are supporting Justin that she wishes someone like him on them.

A boy named Chidindu was found suffering serious burns on his face, neck, and chest at Elezuo Street, Okigwe, Imo State.

The boy, who lives with his aunt, accused her of being responsible for his burns.

Kids living in the same compound with the boy are heard saying in a video that his aunt physically abuses him frequently.

Chidindu added that his aunt threatened to pour burning coals into his eyes and make him go blind.

A corps member posted to a secondary school in Osun state was assaulted by his students, IGBERETV reports.

In a video shared online, blood is seen running down the corps member's face and staining his shirt as the attack left the corps member with a cut on his head.

"We won't take this," voices are heard saying in the background as they condemn the attack on the corper.

According to eye witnesses, the attack was carried out with a knife.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State, IGBERETV reports, IGBERETV reports.

IGBERETV gathered that the police officer popularly called SP Lareee, was abducted on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at WOKTORI Hotel in Pankshin.

A policeman in the council area who spoke to newsmen on Thursday, said the DPO was kidnapped by the gunmen after they shot him in his hotel room.

"The DPO was just posted to Pankshin about three days ago. He was staying in a hotel in Pankshin and was in that hotel when the gunmen came and shot him before taking him away. Since then, we have not seen him.” the source said.

It was also learnt that the police officer had just resumed posting as the DPO in the area a day before his abduction.

A 47-year-old man identified as Ganiyu Yusuf, has been arrested by men of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, for allegedly raping a housewife in Ilorin in June 2021, IGBERETV reports.

Speaking to newsmen, the spokesperson of NSCDC in the state, Olasunkanmi Ayeni, said Yusuf allegedly broke into a house at Oloje area, Ilorin, through the roof on June 1, 2021, overpowered and raped the victim and escaped from the state. The suspect was also alleged to have stolen two laptops and two phones from the house.

“A case of robbery and rape was reported at the NSCDC Kwara State Command headquarters, Ilorin, on June 1, 2022.

"The command commenced a serious search for the suspect after the incident was reported. Fortunately, the suspect was eventually tracked down at Mokwa, Niger State, on January 5, 2023.

"The suspect, Ganiyu Yusuf, 47, a native of Abeokuta, Ogun State, confessed that he broke into the house on that fateful day through the roof. After gaining access to the house in the Oloje area in Ilorin, he overpowered the woman who was alone with her two-year-old baby in the house. He raped the woman in the presence of her two-year-old daughter and went away with two laptops and two Android phones belonging to the victim. The command is still searching for the buyers of the exhibits,”Ayeni said.

Ayeni further said that the suspect would be arraigned in court after investigation.

Professor Ibrahim Garba, and Ibrahim Shehu Usman, former Vice Chancellor and Bursar respectively of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria were arraigned before Justice A.A Bello of the Kaduna State High Court on an eight count charge bordering on theft and money laundering to the tune of over N1billion, IGBERETV reports.

The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Thursday, January 12, 2023 arraigned the two men following months of discreet investigation triggered by a petition accusing the duo of diverting monies meant for the renovation of the popular Kongo Conference Hotel, Zaria.

The investigation established that over one billion Naira was allegedly stolen from different accounts of the institution by the defendants and diverted into their private accounts.

Count one of the charge reads, “that you, Prof. Ibrahim Garba and Ibrahim Shehu Usman, sometimes in December, 2013, whilst the Vice Chancellor and Bursar of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria respectively, in Kaduna within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court conspired amongst yourselves to use the aggregate sum of N998,000,000.00 (Nine Hundred and Ninety Eight Million Naira), property of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria”.

Another count reads, “that you, Prof. Ibrahim Garba and Ibrahim Shehu Usman, between 2015 and 2016 in Kaduna, whilst the Vice Chancellor and Bursar of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria respectively, with dominion over the sum of aggregate sum of N173,428,020.00 (One Hundred and Seventy Three Million, Four Hundred and Twenty Eight Thousand, Twenty Naira), committed Criminal Breach of Trust in respect of the said sum through USIG NIGERIA LIMITED account No. 1402548014, domiciled in First City Monument Bank Plc”.

They pleaded ‘not guilty’ when the charges were read to them.

Based on their plea, the prosecuting counsel, N. Salele and M.U Gadaka urged the court to fix a date for the commencement of trial, while the defence counsel M.S Kati asked the court to release his clients on bail.

Justice Bello granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N10 million each and a surety in like sum who must own a landed property within the jurisdiction of the court.

They are also to deposit their international passports with the registrar of the court. The case has been adjourned till March 15 and 16, 2023 for trial.

Former National Vice Chairman (Southwest) of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, has cried out over the destruction of his 30 hectares of cassava farm at Igbaraoke, headquarters of Ifedore local government area of Ondo State, by suspected herdsmen, IGBERETV reports.

Eddy Olafeso who is also Ondo Coordinator of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, said the cassava was due for harvest.

In a letter to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the politician disclosed that he was almost moved to tears when he visited the farm to inspect the level of damage.

According to him, he lost over N10m invested in the farm. The letter read;

“We arrived at our farm in Igbaraoke this morning, 11th January, 2023 to witness the destruction of our cassava farm by herdsmen.

“I went on to inspect our farm on the 23rd of December, 2022 after we completed the weeding of the entire plantation. We were expectant of good harvest but between Christmas and New Year our farm has been plundered.

“The pain inflicted on the family and the millions of naira lost can only be imagined. Our sweat for over one year was taken away just like that.

“Your Excellency, this case was reported to the Amotekun station at Igbaraoke this morning. These evil herdsmen must be brought to book, otherwise the effect of this insanity will shake the state to its foundation.”

The Nation reported that manager of the farm, Adeola Ariyo, said the herdsmen uprooted the cassava for their cows to feed on.

He said workers concluded the weeding of the farm for N600,000 before going for Christmas break, and they returned to the farm to meet the crops destroyed. The farm manager added that there were traces of the footprints of the cows and the herdsmen at the cassava farm.

Ariyo said;

“We planned to embark on harvesting of the cassava and reinvest the money on more capital projects but the hope has been dashed with the destruction of the cassava farm

“Cows have turned the 30 hectares of land into a grazing field. The herdsmen destroyed the entire farm and destroyed our means of survival.

“I was dazed when I got to the farm and see the destruction and i have to call my master to inform him and he was devastated with the news. The incident has been reported to the office of the Amotekun Corps.”

Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum has said that Borno state is 90% safe for elections to take place., IGBERETV reports.

Responding to questions from reporters at the presidential villa in Abuja on Friday, January 6, Zulum said the security situation in Borno has greatly improved. He further disclosed that his administration is working to rehabilitate and resettle residents that were displaced by insurgents.

Zulum said;

“The people of Borno state voted during the 2015 election. They also voted during the 2019 election.

“Can you compare the security situation in 2019 and 2015 and now? The security situation has improved tremendously by over 90 percent so we don’t have any problem. Eligible voters can go and cast their votes on election day, Inshallah, in Borno State, we don’t have any problem.

“We are thankful that there is great improvement in terms of security in Borno state. We are doing very well now, rehabilitation and resettlement is also going very well.

“We are looking forward to seeing how we can rehabilitate Maiduguri, Gamborun-Gala road and then Maiduguri-Banke road with a view to opening up opportunities for the people to earn their means of livelihood.”

Zulum also revealed that there is no longer an official camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Maiduguri, capital city of Borno.He added;

“We have closed down all official IDPs camps winin Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Gere LGA as I said, last one year ago.

“For now, we don’t have any official IDP camps within Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, the unofficial camps will also be closed in the next few months.”

The wife of the Governor Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, has advised the parents of the baby of the year 2023 to train in the fear and nature of God.

Mrs. Ikpeazu, who made the statement at the Federal Medical Center Umuahia on her visit to the baby of the year, said that children are the heritage of the lord. She advised the parents that a well trained child is a blessing to not just the family but the world at large.

She encouraged them to take care of the baby, ensure that they follow the nurses instructions at all times, follow the immunization stipulations for the baby to ensure that they bring up a healthy baby.

She prayed God to bless the family and the child.

The Vatican on Sunday shared photos of the late Pope emeritus, Benedict XVI, lying in his home chapel, IGBERETV reports.

GOD WON'T GIVE POWER TO THE WICKED, TREACHEROUS -WIKE

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike says he and his allies of the G5 group are never playing God as to determine who becomes the next president of Nigeria.

Governor Wike stated these in reaction to statement in the media that said God will determine the next president of Nigeria, not G5 governors.

The Rivers State governor, speaking at the flag-off of Ogbo- Ihugbodo Road in Ahoada East Local Government Area on Saturday, said, those behind the statement should have known that even if God gives power, it should not be given to the wicked.

"Don't be treacherous in life because you want power. God will never give power to the wicked. Our hands are clean we have not done anything wrong.

"All we are saying is, do things in a way all of us will have sense of belonging, that all of us will believe that we are together.

"That is all we are saying. If saying so is wrong, then let it be to God. But we know that it is good as right takes, let left take also."

Governor Wike explained that members of the G5 believe in the omnipotence of God and always align their various affairs to such, which is why they keep getting stronger by the day.

The Rivers State governor pointed out that the person who said that it only God and not G5 governors who can decide who will be president seemed not to understand the background of members of the group.

"We are alive today, we are where we are because of God. Nobody can even breathe air if not God, not to talk of holding position. So, nobody can tell us that it is only God, we know that it is only God that gives power.

"But our prayer is that God, don't allow those who will sell off Nigeria in the next one second to be in power. Our prayer is God, don't allow anybody that you (people) will have an agreement with and in the next two minutes, the person will change.

"Our prayer is that almighty God will not allow those who will betray their brothers when they have agreed with their brothers to do something. God, may you never allow such people."

Governor Wike also noted that the person said that there will be division among the G5, an expectation that had long been frustrated since May/June 2022.

"It has never worked and it will never work in Jesus name. By sitting down to say that there will be division, I send back that prayer to you.

"I don't want to discuss them. I have told people, allow the sleeping dog to lie. If you don't allow sleeping dog to lie, you too will not sleep."

The Rivers State governor also pointed to another person saying that they will handle members of the G5 when they have decided where to throw their support.

"These are the things that annoy us. Who is this person saying this? I heard them say that PDP is a responsible party I agree. But when they left PDP in 2014 against 2015.

"When they left and made PDP to lose our election. Today, we are struggling to take over power from APC. Who are those who made us to lose this power."

Commenting on the project, Governor Wike the Ogbo -Ihugbodo road is one of the many projects his administration has continued to deliver to restore Ahoada Town and the surrounding communities to what it used to be when it was a divisional headquarters.

The governor emphasised that it is already established that he is creating an unbeatable record as an administration in Nigeria that will continue to deliver democratic dividend until the last day of his tenure.

Governor Wike stated that the jealousy expressed by some detractors is because of the capacity he has continued to demonstrate in governance, combining delivery of projects and attending to issues of governance with none suffering.

He threw a challenge to those who feel jealous to also show capacity and combine project flag-off, inauguration and governance simultaneously if they can.

Providing the project description, Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Dr. George -Kelly Dakorinima Alabo said the Ogbo -Ihugbodo road is 6.1KM long, with about 4.1KM cutting through fresh vegetation.

He stated that the road is 7.3 meters wide, has 4KM length of drains on both sides and should be delivered within five months.

Dantata disclosed this when he received the Vice Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima.

The businessman explained that since his youth, he had the privilege of meeting many people and formed friendships in all states of Nigeria but can hardly name 10 who are still alive.

He said: "I have travelled to all the states in Nigeria and I have done things with people across all states, many were friends but sadly, all the people I know, I hardly can call out 10 that are still alive.

"Honestly, as I am right now, I am just waiting for my time. I no longer enjoy life anymore. I hope I depart this world in good faith.

"I hope I did not offend anyone in life. If I offended anyone, I hope they find it in their hearts to forgive me. If anybody has offended me, I have forgiven them.

"I am now the only one left in my family living with grandchildren."

Dantata, while expressing joy and appreciation for the visit, prayed for Nigeria for everlasting peace and harmony.

"May God not leave us with our efforts alone, we pray for his continued guidance and protection," he prayed.

The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed sadness over the incessant kidnappings in the state, IGBERETV reports.

Speaking on Thursday, December 22, 2022, during a visit to the palace of the Mai Tangle in the Billiri Local Government Area of the state, the governor said that no fewer than 27 kidnap cases are reported monthly in the state.

He decried the security challenges bedevilling the Billiri local government and the increasing number of kidnappings in some parts of the area, a development he attributed to the failure of leadership in the past. He called on the people of Billiri “to be security conscious and be their brother’s keeper, in order to collectively fight insecurity, particularly kidnappers where the state records almost 27 cases of kidnap on a monthly basis."

He also lamented over the cattle rustling in Amtawalam and some cases of kidnapping for ransom in the area, calling on residents to report any suspicious movement to security agencies for prompt response.

Governor Inuwa said protection of lives and property of the people always tops his government's agenda, noting that no meaningful development could be achieved without peace.

Governor Inuwa explained that criminality respects no bound. "Crime has no religion, region, tribe or identity, when one of us is terrorised, all of us will be affected regardless of the faith one professes or the language he or she speaks. Criminals do not respect religion or region when perpetrating their heinous acts", he said.

"People of different faiths have been living peacefully under one roof for many centuries in this chiefdom, this good relationship should be preserved.

He recommended community dialogue and reconciliation as surest ways to resolving differences and restoring peace, unity and progress in the chiefdom and beyond.

"We should embrace the virtue of understanding and forgiveness for the overall progress of our society", he added.
