billante:This is really funny. You mean you actually came to a public forum and quoted what an alaba marketer said? You are a vry good comedian. African queen did not even boast of 7 million copies. Do you know that if you use all the CD printing houses is Lagos put together, it will still take them around 4 to 6 months to print 7 million copies assuming they do nothing else? You are very funny, really. For your information, the way alaba releases an album is to bring out 5000 copies for upcoming artists, 20, 000 copies for old artists that are like c rated, 50 thousand copies for people like Clever J, etc, and 100 to 200 thousand copies for big artists like Psquare and Tuface. The first day of release, they normally release 50, 000 copies. They distribute these among the distributing marketers and it trickles down. A marketer makes 3 naira per CD. Maximum 5 naira for people like Tuface's CD. To print 7 million CDs will cost the marketer over 100million naira. They cant even pay artists 5million. They couldnt even pay wizkid his 5million. Timaya had to engage the police to get his money from the marketer and they are all crying because many of them are broke. 7 million my foot. You guys must be working for PSquare. Artists dont sell CDs much and they make their money mostly from shows. Partly because of the mix tape problem. How can you buy an artist Album when the good songs are already available on mix tape. The only artist that sell albums well are artists that can boast of 5 good tracks that are sell-able. What bangs in the clubs and what sells as albums are 2 different things. Asa never banged in the club but sold a lot of Albums. Wizkid is selling well and banging in the clubs too. there are many factors that make these things work. MI sold a lot of albums but didnt really bang in the clubs like that. |
Donlittle:@Donlittle, It is either you were paid to try to push this or you are dangerously naive. It is like saying cultism doesn't exist. Forget about Illuminati for a moment and lets start from home. There are all sots of cults and confraternities around us. The Ogboni, Reformed Ogboni, Amorc, Free masonry and many many more. To say they do not exist is either deceitful talk or you are too naive to know anything. Illuminati is just one of them. Various cults or religions have various ideologies they are based on. What makes people talk about the Illuminati a lot is because of their direct worship of Satan which is not necessarily peculiar to them. they just happen to be blatant about their worship of Satan. If you go to Ipodo street by Ikeja, you will see a shrine dedicated to devil worship. People do worship the devil. It is not new. People do human sacrifices all over the world. Not only in Africa. Britain still remains the center of witchcraft in the world. I grew up in Benin City in Edo state and have seen a lot of display of demonic powers and thank God I have seen displays of God's power a lot too. Denying its existence does not stop it from existing. In cote dvoire, Benin republic and and many other places, there are a lot of devil worship. Same for America. For music, well it is very simple. First, there is nothing like neutral art. Art is always an expression of a man's belief. Whether its a painting or music or a book. Art is spiritual and any artist who doesnt know that is not a true artist. I am an artist so I know that. In art, there are paintings that an artist do that he cannot explain to you how he did it or how he wrote the song or book. It is always a deep spiritual experience which can come thru various forms like dreams, trance, flashes and more/ Have you ever asked yourself how a normal human being can imagine the gruesome scenes in a horror movie. Please do an experiment and try to imagine the evil in an horror film for 10 mins and see if you can survive it. That is why every big artist is always into drugs except some who have been long in church. I dont want to say too much but I can tell you i know many artists even here in Nigeria. Names you are very familiar with and they cannot do a song in the studio or sing on stage without doing deep incantations and taking hard drugs. You are very clueless in these matters so please keep your ignorance to yourself. life is spiritual and deeper than you can ever imagine. Just like a lot of civil servants and business men are being forced into cults today in Nigeria, so it is all over the world. IF you dont join, you will never be promoted. It is happening a lot in naija now. If you dont join, you will never hit the big screen. promoters and marketers will not sign you. The kabbala cult is very popular in Hollywood. They dont even hide it anymore. You think all those signs they throw are for fun. You must be sooooooo naive or just trying to deceive. They need these artists because music is a big form of influence and education in the world today. Have you ever heard of subliminal mask messaging and back masking? Please dont think you know when you dont. You will be short changing yourself. I will give you a few clues: 1. Have you noticed that most of the movies from Hollywood today talk about one world, one government, destruction of the world and the establishment of a new world order. 2. Have you noticed so many artists today are calling themselves god. JayZ (JHova), Will-I-AM, Ja Rule, or they they sing about it? 3. Have you ever read about the origins and ideologies of HipHop, Do you know that hiphop is registered in NewYork as a religion? 4. Do you know hiphop has tempo and prophets like KRS1. Have you heard what they preach and their ideologies? 5. Do you know music is one of the greatest mind control and brain washing tool. (scientifically proven) 6. Do you know your brain cannot resist an opinion or ideology if put into music? Please read about the frontal lobe and the back lobe brain theories and how they connect to music. 7. Do you know that every time Sony music releases a new artist or album, they throw a devil party. Do you know what a devil party is. It is wild orgies and drug party and sometimes involve the drinking of blood 8. Do you know the father of hiphop, DJ Africa Bambata was a personal friend of Fela? 9. Do you know why artist like Shaba Ranks, Lauren Hill, Buju Banton and very recently, Eminem were frustrated or almost frustrated out of music because of their stance against some of these stuff. 10. Do you really know what happened to Majek Fashek? I will leave it at that for now, |
i dont know why most people are sooo foolish without brain, how can u come here and tell us this invasion album is not it.the album is soo cool we all love it and we will scramble to buy the album cause they are they best est.pls if u don't like it go chop poo when u chop poo then u drink piss. people without head and brain always criticizing without any reasonable contribution.Comments like these are very stupid. This is called public domain. some might like it. others will hate it. its a matter of choice. how can you criticize fans for hating it. It is supposed to make you go back to the studio and improve not talk trash and call people haters. Have you noticed that the slang haters was coined by black Americans. I dont know why we Africans have a big complex. I have always known that this album will be trash. It is not just a PSquare problem. it is a problem with the entire Nigerian market. We have singers who cant sing. What they do is more like cheating. Using computer to help their singing. This is why they cannot perform real concerts. they always have to mime their songs on stage. We have to criticize them so they can improve. it is for their own good. Those of you who say you love them and you keep telling them they are ok and great when they are not are nothing but sychophants. tell them the truth so we can grow. You are not helping them when you lie to them. When some of us where criticizing Nollywood some years back, they called us haters. now who is suffering? You need to go to National theatre or Winnies hotel at surulere to see how our so called stars are suffering and hyping themselves on TV. Some dont even have good cars. I know many artists who fake on TV and talk about money and all and dont have shishi. I wont call names but dont get me started. This was how our bankers were going around forming big boys until the banking crisis started some years back and some of them didnt have 10k in their account. some of them have still not recovered from it. We must change in Nigeria. We are such a superficial society full of lies and deceit and when you speak the truth, they call you a hater. Very sad and lame. |
playmode:You are a very daft guy trying to claim some form of intelligence. What is wrong with the bill. You havent made one single point that is wrong with the bill and you call other people unintelligent. arm chair critics like you on NL are really the ones that are unintelligent |
^^^ So what is your point? what makes him a crook? electorial reform? |
Its now obvious that 2015 is surely the end of the road for Nigeria Cry Cry Cry CryIt was all over the news yesterday. the content of the bill to be sent to the national assembly excludes current president. The debate is already on if the current governors will accept it. So you dont have to believe it. That is what it is. |
Many of you here in NL try to sound like intelectuals but you are mostly ignorant peeps and armchair critics who constantly show by their posts that they have never held leadership positions. This is the best bill to pass at this time. Settling this will have a spiral effect on everything else. Electoral reform is the key to peace and stability in Nigeria and GEJ is tackling that and should be given credit for it. He has already said he wont be benefitting from it so that puts paid to any talk of him trying to elongate his stay. So that establishes it as a genuine reform. If we settle this, we have settled a major national issue that will garantee development at all levels. |
AIT has just broadcast the announcement of Anambra state government that they never at any time solicited or collected money from any Islamic bank as claimed by Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the governor of the CBN. They even went further to demand an apology from him. This is a national calamity of enormous proportions and implications. Telling a lie to push a policy means the motives are wrong. This is serious and if confirmed, he should be fired ASAP. |
It is sad that many here are so ignorant about issues in naija but they claim they know the country. Sansi is either a fool or is deliberately tryin to divide the country. I posted a comment some days back stating how this same government has refused the establishment of Christian radio and TV stations even when these are supposed to be privately owned because the constitution does not support it. Nigeria is a secular state. The leaders of CAN are totally on point. IF you allow this to happen then you have set a wrong precedence that will blow up on our faces and the timing of Sanusi is especially provocative at a time when Boko Haram is pushing for the establishment of sharia and a time when churches are being burnt in some northern states. Maybe the whole script has been written. Maybe it is all a plan to destabilize the country. And please stop saying that Islamic banking will change anything because it will not. Proof? simple. More than half of Islamic countries are very poor and they have Islamic banks running there. The goal of Islamic banks in Europe are every clear. To further Islam. It is not meant to help Britons or Europeans. It is simply to further Islam. It is not run by the state or funded by state money. Their operations is now strictly monitored because of the fear of terrorists using it as conduits. Sanusi is not sincere and this is the cause of the whole fiasco. He is acting out a script. Anabra state government has just come out to deny that it ever solicited or collected any money from an Islamic bank and are demanding an apology from Sanusi. It was shown on AIT news this evening. That means Sanusi lied to deceive the whole Nation. That is big proof that he has a mission. HE should be fired. ASAP! |
Hmmmm, the Nigerian secular state organisation is NOT sponsoring an Islamic bank. CBN as a regulator is setting out policies and guidelines for the operations of Islamic banking in Nigeria.and your argument is? so why did they stop the running of Christian TV and radio stations? They should not set agenda for anything religious. IT IS A SECULAR STATE. And just to correct you, if there is a problem with the bank tomorrow, will the CBN not bail them out? Will they not be part of the Nigerian deposit insurance scheme? We need to be truthful in our dealings or we should just split. |
^^^The stupidity of your post is that we might soon be in different countries just like was predicted. 2015 is not far away you know. You will then have all the sharia you want and help setup Alqaeda bases. You or your children might even end up as suicide bombers you know. sounds great, doesn't it? |
I always say that ignorance is the biggest problem in Naija. The point of this whole thing is that the Nigerian state is a secular state and should never be seen supporting any religion. The involvement of the CBN as as a state owned institution in Islamic banking simply negates that principle and sets a precedence for many problems that could lead the country into serious problems in the future. That is why some people have come out to say the issue could cause Naija to disintegrate and they are very correct. Several years ago, churches wanted to register and own radio and TV stations. They were told clearly that they could not since Nigeria is a secular state. These churches had to go to south Africa to setup these stations. Their programs on TV are even monitored and they are told that they cannot show certain things on TV. Inspirational FM in Lagos was almost closed down because they were accused of playing too much Christian music and that the society was a secular one. So tell me how this same secular society with all these restrictions on Christian content is suddenly now sponsoring an Islamic bank. Please forget the non-interest name tag. It is Islamic banking. The only reason for giving someone a non-interest loan is because you want something else from him. These are fundamental strategies for pushing Islam around the world. I do not mean it is wrong. I just dont agree that the government should be the one championing it. If Moslem leaders have resources and want to use it to push Islam, that is fine, but the government is a secular one and should not be pushing these things. This is a dangerous trend which if not checked will bring this country to a halt. And just to add. I have read a lot about the Islamic banking principles and how it will change Nigeria and it makes me laugh. Tell me, if Islamic banking is so great, why are over half the Islamic countries with full sharia laws still very poor and impoverished. Sometimes we make deluded arguments and forget that humans will do anything to further their agendas and this has nothing to do with helping Nigeria. If you really think Sanusi cares about you, you must be delusional and extremely naive. There is absolutely no sense in giving people money to do business without profiting as an organization. You can talk of small interest rates aor long term payments but to give people money without profiting is only done in religious circles as a means to attract people to such a religion. It is done in some churches and Christian organizations but like I said before, I wouldn't categorize this as wrong but it should not be championed by a secular state institution. |
It is hard to say who is naija's most respected statesman but the best one can do is grade them in categories: 1st Category: Herbert Macaulay Enahoro Zik Awo Tafawa Balewa Murtala Ahmadu Bello 2nd Category Gowon OBJ Mbadiwe Ojukwu Shagari Shehu Musa Yaradua Abraham Adesayan Alex Ekweme Tunde Idiagbon Abdusalam Abubarkar 3rd Category: IBB Buhari Gani Saro Wiwa 4th Category: GEJ Tam David West Fashola Donald Duke Oshiomole Okonjo Eweala Chuba Ukadigbo David Mark Emeka Anyaoku The question is the most respected not who you like the most, so you have to consider the following How widespead is the respect Their influence on the entire nation Major roles and achievements Their popularity in the entire nation How much influence they had in government Their philosophy Their international Recognition This is why people like Buhari and IBB fall far behind OBJ. The fourth category i mainly put emerging names. There are other names that i might have missed. You can add them. but leave out the sentiments and follow the question objectively. |
It is so interesting when you see those who have run after the band wagon start to return back, OBJ did say just after he left office that people will come and thank him after a while and it will surely happen. The guy has his shortfalls but he remains the only reason we still have Nigeria today. He was begged to come and rule in 1976 and 1999 at a time when the country was at the brink. He saved the day twice. He is the only reason the South could upset the North in an election in tis country. The North are not happy with him. You think Tinubu can stand up to the North? You must be joking. OBJ might have his issues, but he has played a great role in this country and nobody could ever have played that role. His failure in other aspects of governance like infrastructure and power is due to the fact he has a military mentality. He is not a good administrator. But nobody else has a bigger passion for Nigeria like OBJ. He will be remembered as a great leader in the future. Forget about all the bashing he has gotten from the Tinubu et all. They only bash OBJ because they want to futher their own agenda. The guy is not as corrupt as the media has tried to paint him. Ask those who have worked in his farm. I am not saying he is a saint, just that the media is majorly controlled by the sw so they blew things out if porpotion just to rubbish the guy and present themselves as saints. Tinubu is 10 times more corrupt that OBJ. ANd dont tell me he has done this or that. Tinubu didnt do jack. Fashola is the only saving grace of ACN and I wait to see how the next four years will pan out. With Tinubu choosing 35 of his commisioners and Aregbesola helping him to handpick Fashola's commisioners, it will be interesting. Aregbesola currently spends more time in Lagos than he spends in Osun. And with the Awo bashing, things are not looking good. Pride goeth b4 a fall like they say. Lets watch and see. |
You people talk as if the same Boro haram cannot try to replicate the northern problem in the south south just to make the south south look like its the same with the north. Not saying this is the case but it is very possible. so dont make any conclusions yet. No south south person will go and do that because his own people will fish him out and no oen will ever support him. |
The truth is the attack on the old lady was completely unwaranted. Even if she supported Gbenga, it is still unwarranted. Are you guys not the ones who have been talking about democracy and freedom of speech? Tinubu is towing a dangerous line. He is begining to play god. I hope he survives it. Abiola tried it and the rest is history. |
Im sorry to say those ones dont know their fathers house!!!!, common wht av they benefitted from a PDP led government since 2003, even when our supposed son (obj) was there what have we benefitted since then, ACN has come withits own agenda and lets wait nd seee how it will play out!!!This is your opinion and they dont have to agree with you. The last time I checked, the states ruled by ACN are still not looking like America. Politicians are politicians whether ACN or PDP. Athe corruption in the NASS where perpetuated by members of all the parties. So this talk of ACN being better is complete rubbish. I think the biggest reason someof you support ACN is because you see it as a Yoruba party not because of any performance as you claim. |
@seanet02 You sound too unintelligent. If you are a representation of ACN, then ACN is doomed. Pride goeth before destruction, |
Some of you Yoruba seem to forget a simple fact, not all Yoruba support your views. That is why ACN didnt win a landslide in Ogun and Oyo. Have you forgotten how many votes Both Akala and Ladoja got? Even where I stay in Lagos, many Yorubas voted PDP. Fashola won by a big magine not because of ACN, but because of his own personal appeal. Many non indigenes voted for Fashola. Dont forget that the non indigenes outnumber the Yoruba in Lagos. So when you make sweeping claims about the Yoruba and ACN, be sure you know what you are saying. Even in Osun where Aregbesola tried to prove a point, GEJ still got a good number of votes. So please dont make statement like you are speaking for all Yoruba people. You are speaking for ACN not Yoruba race. ACN might be enjoying good followership today, but it can all change just with one event. That is life. |
Some of you may defend tinubu all you like but he is defintely spinning out of control. He doesnt need anyone to destroy him. he will destroy himself. guaranteed! We must all learn from history. anyone who is over ambitious will always destroy himself. It is delussional to think that every yoruba will continue to bow to him. ACN will soon have a big internal problem. It is always the case when you are too ambitious. Even Awo as great as he was had his own enemies. Abiola case is a big history lesson. |
@Mai_Suya said: He took the loan under curious circumstances and has not been able to account for it. Isn't that the same as stealing?I did say very clearly that I dont even like the guy. So my post was not to portray him as a victim. I didnt even say he was not guilty. what I was saying was that we should not allow ourselves to be distracted from the real issues. The EFCC can arrest and prosecute him but that doesnt solve the real problem. In fact, I think the EFCC is just trying to score a media point. Why go thru all that drama just to arrest and prosecute him for price inflation? We must fight these legislators. They are criminals. I am talking about legislators from all the political parties. They are all involved. The new speaker is even a Bankole ally. So I was suprised when ACN said they voted for him because of National interest. How does voting for a crook benefit the nation? Understand my point before you react. |
The truth of the matter is that there is too much sentiments going around in naija. As much as I dont like Bankole, I did say that the 10billion story was a media creation. It wasnt like the way the media portrayed it. sometimes we have to be calm when these things happen and try and get the real story. There was an indept analysis of the issues on AIT and the panel was able to show that Bankole didnt steal 10billion like the media was crying out. He did preside over the house where the reps allocated monies to themselves that made them to seek a loan which created the 10billion situation. but the point is, it was a house decision. The whole house were guiilty of the problem so it wasnt just a Bankole problem. But some people kept making it a Bankole problem but the EFCC knows the facts. The house is a corrupt house. Their salaries are ridiculous. We need to bring them back to their senses not just shout about Bankole. Sending Bankole to prison is not the real issue. We must fight the whole and make them accountable. They should stop allocating ridiculous sums to themselves. GEJ cant do it because this is a democracy. If he takes them on, it will become a fight between executive and legislature and it will affect the country. The public has to champion the fight. |
