They have started making promises again. Cant they just shut up and work? It pains me when you guys come here and support parties. All the parties are the same. South west is not better off like some people have tried to make us believe. It is just the same old stuff. that is, free this, free that. We dont need free anything. we are not lazy people. give us the infrastructuire and environment and we can generate money and take care of ourselves. we are not handicap. That is how Aregbesola the agbero, promised 20, 000 jobs and what do we have today. I told someone then it was a scam and they insulted me. Where are the jobs now? he just gatthered a lot of yuouths into a warehouse and said he was training them, a friend was one of the entertainers that he called to come and perform in a show for them. and after that, nothing. How can he provide jobs from nothing and for nothing? Fashola provided jobs because there was a need for them. you dont provide jobs if there are no needs. how much business activities does Osun generate? This is sooooooooooo sad. They should stop promising these ridiculous things. States that cant even pay minimum wage are all promising free this and that. Let them start from paying the minimum wage then we will see if they can actually provide anything. It is not about announcing free education. What about the quality of the education? I feel something really funny is going to happen in the southwest soon. The last election has galvanised the whole nation and I feel the southwest will end up suffering most at the end. Why you might ask? simple, the south south, for example, have been spurred on by the many fights they have gone thru and places like Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Delta (yes Delta) might take their development to a whole new level just to prove a point and they have the funds to do it. Rivers and Akwa Ibom have just annouced plans to be self sufficient in power and they can do it. they have the funds. States like Ekiti and Osun mught end up being left far behind. Believe me when I tell you that Uduaghan has started to do serious wonders in Delta. A fallout of the scare he recived in the last election. That is the irony of life. I hope the sw will catch up. Only lagos and Ogun might be able to fund these developments. Maybe Oyo will come close to it but the others will greatly struggle. |
^^^ It will be wrong for me to make a hard and fast conclusion but the way it could have been done, if we assume there was fraud, is that the arrangement must have been decided before the match. That is they can agree to add one goal to either the winning or loosing side. It is that simple. but kike I said, it will be wrong to make a conclusion. but it is very possible. I also know FIFA is trying to look good and this looks like an opportunity. |
^^^ You missed the point. you should read the whole article. The goal that is suspect was the one from the penalty given to Argentina. It means we should actually have won the match 4:0 Everyone saw that that penalty was actually suspect. I think the deal was that the ref could have asked the person betting to add a goal to the loosing side and bet. |
Argentina fielded a below-strength in Abuja Fifa says it is investigating unusual betting patterns relating to Nigeria's 4-1 win over Argentina in Abuja on Wednesday. When the score was 4-0 in the friendly game, a large number of bets were placed on there being a fifth goal. Only five minutes of injury time were shown, but eight had elapsed when Mauro Boselli scored a contentious penalty given against Joseph Yobo for handball. Fifa said in a statement: "This match was one we had an active interest in." Argentina's involvement in the Copa America tournament meant they sent a largely sub-strength side, captained by Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta. Ike Uche opened the scoring after 10 minutes, with Victor Obinna adding a second from the penalty spot before Uche headed a third before half-time. http://spotlightnigeria.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=586:fifa-probes-unusual-betting-on-nigeria-v-argentina-game&catid=38:sports&Itemid=60 |
Nairaland has become a platform for bitter Nigerians, especially in diaspora, to vent their anger. I can understand the pain but it still doesnt justify their lack of objectivity and ignorance about Nigeria. Just insults and baseless criticisms. They will criticize anything. It doesnt matter if you do the right thing or not. They are making many threads boring on Nairaland. The sad part is that Nigerian train is fast moving on, into the future and they will loose out big time if they dont change their negativity. There is a lot to gain from the emerging development atmosphere and new policies. But you cannot benefit from it or grow with it as a bonafide Nigerian if you spend or your time trying to rubbish it. |
unemployment = 45% in my bookThis was my initial template, we can build on these by adding more departments like agriculture and industry. We can even make it into a poll and let people vote and discuss the individual ares. We can even go a step further and use the template to assess other leaders across the country. Not sentimentally and blindly praise singing. I voted for GEJ but I will be glad to also put him on this same test as we go along. No sentiments or we wont get good leadership and national transformation. ACN supporters should be careful not to let sentiments blindfold them or they will regret it in the future. Human beings all over the wolrd will never be good on their own. Even in America, if left alone, Obama will do atrocities. The only reason he will not do atrocities is because of the checks and balances that exists. |
My friend please stop saying what the bible does NOT say. . . Where in the bible does it say that things were first created spiritually before they were created physically? All you are doing is self projecting yourself as God and telling me what you think the bible is saying when in reality what the bible says is completely different from what you are trying to make it say. . . .The bible does NOT say any of the things you are saying and if you know anything about the creation account in genesis you will know that the account written in genesis 1 and genesis 2 were written by different persons at different time. . . . .Most historians and bible scholars agree that the genesis 2 account was written earlier than the genesis one account. . .The genesis one account is a priestly commentary on the genesis 2 account and was later added and made to be part of the unified creation account. . . .The two accounts are not the same, they were NOT written by th e same person and at the same time. . . .do you want to discuss intelligently or you cannot participate in a discussion. if you want to discuss, then you must bring out your reasoning energies and lets discuss this as intelligent gentle men. The easiest thing to do in life is to try to wave what people say aside with quick jabs. If you really are sure of what you think, you will lay it on the table. What I have laid out are simple facts that you too can see if you take away your defensive shades and just reason and analyse things. First step to undestanding things is to take away your already stone walled stance. assume for second, you could be wrong and open your mind and heart to receive new information. My analysis are simply spelt out. waving it aside because you havent seen it in that light before doesnt make it wrong. Please go back and analise what I have laid out and maybe you should be asking questions instead of making conclusions based on what a scientist wrote. Dont forget these scientists have been shown to be wrong on many issues over the years. pluto was once called a planet. the earth was once tought to be square. The electron was once tought to be the smallest particle. i could go on and on. open your mind bro. The evolution theory is one of the most inconsistent and silly theories of science. In fact, it is one of the only scientific law that is based on assumption and speculation. |
@Mazaje wrote In fact, Genesis tells us that the earth was created first, and the sun, moon, and stars were not created until the 4th day of creation, . . This is clearly nonsense. . . . Aside from the scientific evidence to the contrary, we know without even bothering to think that a "day" without the sun is a logical impossibility.I didnt want to copy all you said. there is no point. But as a scientist who has read the bible, I dont even know where to start to educate you from on this. It is good to try to understand something, anything first before going on a hit and run. When you read Gen chapter 1 with your glasses off, you will see a masterpiece that explains all scientists have been tryin to find out for years. Do you know the bible actually shows prehistoric man existed? for Example, in Gen 1:26, God said, let us make man in our image and likeness, Notice he didnt say let us make a being and call him man. He said let us make man in our image. That means man existed before but was not in the image and likeness of God. So this time, he will be in the image and likeness of God. Also notice something interesting. In chapter 2 verse 5 he said there was not a man to till the ground. 4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, 5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. 6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. 7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. This statement came after Adam was created. It looked funny but if you study it, you will understand that there was a difference between the creation of man as a spirit being in chapter 1 and the formation of man as a physical being in chapter 2. The same applied to the trees, the animals and all. They were created spiritually first before they were formed physically. The same goes for the light created on the first day and the sun created on the 4th day. God creates first in the spiritual before making it manifest in the physical. That is the principle of creation which he has also passed down to us. You cannot create anything in this world unless you have created it spiritually first. That is the essence of imagination. This is actually like a whole seminar of teaching. but |
I recall I did say Eko Ile was doing a silly thing while some of you guys were commending him for wasting his time. I knew it would come to this. Every state can actually produce pictures. That is not how to measure real performance. you have to measure it against goals, targets and expectations. Not just showcasing pictures. All the pictures Eko Ile posted is not up to 10 billion naira in costs. So how does that prove Fashola is working. showing hospital beds and Police motorbikes. This is really ridiculous and a show of ignorance and illieteracy. I have raised a proper template you can use or even build on. You can use it to objectively discuss this. Not pictures of government newly painted buildings |
^^^ Please no need to make information upSo what information have I made up here. Are you so biased or just a saddist? I thought you wanted to track the president? It seems you are already gittery that he would be a great president. Please acknowledge it when he makes you look foolish. |
Proposed Plans Date Proposed Achieved |
Check this out: the book of Nahum chapter 2: 1 He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily. 2 For the LORD hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches. 3 The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken. 4 The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings. Amazing isnt it? The prophet refered to vehicles as chariots. But from the description, you can see he was talking about vehicles. they justle against one another ( traffic, accidents ). They seem like torches ( head lamps). They run like lightnings. Great speed compared to the speed of chariots in those days. Notice he said it will happen in the day of his preparation refering to the endtimes |
The bible is the single greatest compilation in history. It has been responsible, directly or remotely for many of the greatest events in history. If you read the bible and became an atheist, you certainly read it with an already fixed opinion. God will never force a man to change his mind. Apart from being a spiritual, book, the bible is the greatest political, economical, social and motivational/inspiraqtional book in history. Do you know a lot of economic and political principles where taken from the bible. The bible is the most corrolated book there is, with events thousands of years away accurately foretold. The bible predicted such things as the wireless communication, airplanes, cars and many more. even predited the Internet and global television. It is simply amazing. The bible teaches medical principles that doctors have continue to discover till date, thousands of years back. The bible is such a masterpiece and to consider that it was written by various authors thousands of years apart simply show there is something divine about it |
HAHAHAHAHAHA! This is why I think this whole discussion is politics. I know the guy who did the GIS system. He is into GIS and has done jobs for oil companies. He sold his technology to Lagos state, they bought it with over 200 million and the guy has smiled to the bank. Now you call it an innovative system by Lagos state. The system is not even in serious use with all the money that was paid. it might come in handy in the future, no doubt, but for now, it is not very useful. My biggest problem with all the pictures that have been posted is that they are all regular government daily activities and jobs. I havent seen a visionary project posted. I maintain that the only visionary project Lagos has done so far is the BRT. Even that will still be considered normal business in developed countries but I will consider it visionary in a country like Naija |
I see your reply. I’m not one to criticize especially if the person is doing a great job and Fashola is doing a great job! Mega cities by their very nature have inherent problems that other places don’t have. There is no other place in Nigeria that can be compared to Lagos due to the stress on infrastructure. Period.I respect you posts because it is devoid of name calling and insults. when people cant argue rightly, they resort to insults. So lets look ate the indices you have put out, unemployment = 45% in my book education = 30% healthcare 55% traffic congestion = 90% pollution = 60% - the beautification project has helped this a lot housing = 25% he hasnt done much here security = 40% This is getting really bad as there has been a sharp rise in raiding of estates by robbers Power = cant rate him here. still in the pipeline Roads = 50% - Would have giving him a really good score here if I were judging by VI roads. But the mainland is still very bad Infrastructure = 60% but i think he has done more repairs here than building of innovative and creative stuff Good leadership = 90%. this is where I score him the most. He has been able to carry everyone along and is a good builder of bridges just like GEJ. |
Eko Ile, I wonder the reason people don't want to acknowledge that the struggle of next generation will be mammoth face than theirs if they fail to promote good governace in Nigeria. May be we don't know that your children and my children are future. By defacing Fashola achievements with their corky tongue, they give reason to bad ones to be complacent. People don't know that project like Lekky-Ikoyi link cable bridge and its likes will give inspiration to coming civil engineers, architects and engineers. Well, mo wi te mi o.what Eko Ile is doing is soooooooooooo childish and silly because many states can actually do similar stuff. if you drive around states like kwara, Enugu, Anambra, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Niger, Kano and Even Ogun, you will produce enough pictures of projects like you are doing now. That is a very silly way of measuring a governors success. Didnt you see all the project pictures the Bayelsa gov was putting everyday on papers for almost 3 months? Ten times more than what you have posted. There is actually no gov that has not done a project or 2. Even the inept Uduaghan can actually go around and post pictures of projects like you are doing. The way to measure progress is to have indices in different departments and match what has been done with what is expected to be done. It also means you have to actually have a set agenda and try to show how that agenda has been met. Not by posting random pictures. Very funny and really silly. As much as people slight OBJ, do you know he can actually post 50 times more pictures than you are posting? Do you know a lot of good projects where commissioned in the 8 years he ruled. We judge him based on what was expected and the enormity of the need on the ground and that is why people critisize him. If we are to judge him by projects done and their pictures, he will be a hero. Only someone that needs to prove a political point will go around taking pictures of beds in one or 2 hospitals and using that as a yardstick to measure Lagos state progress. This is really hillarious and dumb. |

Now, Amechi is a very good governor but not as good as Fashola. Why, apart from what I stated above, which project in Nigeria is as big as Eko Atantic or the KFZ* projects or the rail way (I know Amechi is doing something similar) . . .I can go on and on and on.I didnt want to comment b4 until i read the above post. very laughable. These projects you mentioned are all power point projects. non of them is on the ground. the railway is not a lagos project. it is a federal government project. that was why Jonathan was in lagos to flag it off in january with a ride to Ogun state. Fashola only plans to buy coaches. he was in canada last week to inspect some wooden old school coaches. I live in Lagos and to access Fashola genuinely, the only serious projects i can really commend him for is the BRT and the Lagos beuatification. Water in Lagos is still very very poor. The schools whose pictures Ile Eko posted are just one ir two selected schools and I think that is just politics. most lagos schools are still a mess. LASU is a complete mess. The doctors in Lagos spent almost 1 year on strike. I think, like some posters said, Fashola only gets commendation because many governors in the past really messed up, not because he is really doing so well. He is just the proverbial one eyed man in the country of the blind. Alimosho is still forgotten and the roads are all getting bad again. The street lights were only scam projects used to siphon money as they are mostly bad agaion except for a feww roads. The one leading from agege to berger are all fake lights. The other agencies that are doing well are Lamata and the guys carrying waste. I think Fashola's strategy was to focus on projects that are easily seen and make it look like you are doing great. and i think it worked. Amaechi is far better than Fashola but the media beam is on Lagos. The projects you find in Rivers and Akwa Ibom are far more visionary than the ones in Lagos. In the long term, it will show. Now the whole entertainment industry is gradually shifting attention to the SS because of structures that have been put in place and in the future, attention will turn to these states. Time will exposed a lot of things. I think Adams Oshomole of Edo is far more visionary than Fashola. Edo schools are currently far ahead of Lagos schools. I was very impressed when I was in benin recently. It is revolutionary, believe me. |
Please note that until very recently Adeseun was a PDP guy. He read the political barometer properlyThis is one reason i hate the ACN crowd. They are a bunch of hypocrites and hollier than thou people. They will be fully exposed soon for their evil. How can somebody say the guy is PDP. the height of hypocrisy. just a few days ago, they had a retreat to indoctrinate their senators and reps. SO they didbt tell them about corruption eh? I hate hypocrites. I prefer the OBJs of this world who will do what they say whether bad or good. At least you will know their position. These ACN people, are the worst hypocrites and deceivers in Nigeria. |
GEJ is really an action man. I no regret to vote am at alllllllll!!!!!!!!^^^ Word! He will shame every critic and send all these exiled Nairalanders back to their holes. |
The point is that they are falling apart. The center cannot hold. It is a very bad sign and a show of shame. It also shows there is really no leadership in CPC. Just dictators |
Maybe Bukola could have been nailed by the same rule. Maybe his opponents never knew they could use it. It just might have nailed him. |

I think many Nigerians are taking this dual nationality issue too far.He is supposed to renounce the American citizenship |
I personally think such an order coming from the minister must have been given based on the instruction of the FG and off course who is the head of federal government, so they are all in line . . . i want to suspect that the FG feels or must have investigated that the prize increase was artificial and deliberate by the marketers who suddenly have formed a cartel of some sort hence the need to read the riot act. i want a scenario where market forces determines the prizes of fuel sources but with our level of import of this energy sources, won't the masses even complain louder when the government decides to remove the subsidy and safe itself some money. The huge question people will ask is what has happened to the other saved money and. .safe the money where ? . .An average Nigerian would want to tell you that if the subsidy is one of the few things they can enjoy tangibly then so should it remain while the marketers are the biggest gainers. . .we need drastic change as a country but can we stomach the temporal discomfort this change will bring before we get to the comfort zone . . Often we desire dramatic changes with no will power to sacrifice a little . .that leaves us with a dilemma i guess. One great post! But I dont think we are ready for it. Much of the prices in Naija are not due to market forces. It is down to mafia style businesses that have been the order of the day. GEJ will have to deal out orders like this for a while before the long term solutions start to take effect. PHCN is next. If they dont want change, they should all be fired. I mean it. We are ready to bear the pain till something new comes up. |
It would actually be wrong to have a state governor who is a citizen of another country. The law should even apply to Senators and Reps. If our leaders cannot be proud citizens of this country, then we do have a huge problem. How can they really change Nigeria if they are not proud of Nigeria? |
This thread is so enlightening on dual citizenships. The constitution seem to contradicts itself. The hard truth is, if the tribunal wants to really follow the law, Ajimobi will be disqualified. The whole goal of the constitution here is to prevent conflict of interest and protect the country. That is why the constitution allows dual citizenship for normal people but frowns at it for "high" political office holders. That is the whole point. That is why you have to renounce the dual citizenship before you contest. |
^^^ The reality of life is that we have to follow the law. Without rules, society will be chaotic. If Ajimobi has contravened the rule, he will have to face it. The law is the law. Ajimobi too should have known what the law says before contesting for office. It shows that those aspiring to be leaders in our society do not acquaint themselves with our laws. That doesnt tell well of them and their patriotism. As a Nigerian, I have a copy of the constitution and I try to read it as much as I can. And I am not even a politician. |
^^^ Every country has her rules. That was why Obama had to release his birth certificate because in US, you cannot become the President if you are not born in the US. Every nation has to have rules. There are pros and cons for these rules, but it is for the greater good. |
The Congress for Progressive Change [CPC] had expelled its members from the south-south, south east, and south-west zones who oppose the party's decision to petition the conduct of the presidential election.http://spotlightnigeria.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=580:cpc-expels-some-state-chairman&catid=34:politics&Itemid=55 |
to insult your presidebt in a forum like this is not only stupid but unpatriotic. it is a sign of how low we have become as a nation |
