HI Everyone,

Am on the terestial cable and getting my feed from ikeja mast, however since last Wednesday night, i lost signal and the usual "BAD OR NO SIGNAL" has been showing. Please is anyone having the same problem.?

You can switch off the decoder and switch it back on again. It will stabilise . After a while, if it happens like that, the signal will come back by itself after some seconds

Just rescanned and art movies 2 is showing.

How are we supposed to enjoy it?

Its only arabic scholars that understand arabic in naija.

Am sure they can do something with the mbc net work, mbc2 mbc1 mbc4 etc.

Disc Engineering used to offer them on their package so Hitv should be able to do something to get that station.

Am on the cable and the picture quality is great. Even in heavy winds . Earlier, I thought the winds affected it but it
doesnt affect it much now.

Hi mix is stepping up with more movies and content now.

Its good news if they are giving this month subscription free.
Its something and shows they are being responsive to customers concerns.

Most entertainment sites lay a lot of emphasis on the aesthetics and all the glitz.

The next step is to get a good 24hr movies and entertainment channel maybe Mbc2.

On the contrary, I'm not a staff of HiTV I'm just a bit nerdy (I decided to increase my knowledge of satellite technology when I bought my 'own' HiTV equipment as my earlier attempt with my folk's DSTV when I was younger were hotly rebuffed due to similar incidents to what happend to me earlier).

I'm however very happy I was able to be of some help and hope some of the points medube and myself made will help some other people out there (Let us not forget to thank Seun who made the forum possible too).

It seems you're not so annoyed with the HiTV guys anymore, I really hope they get some form of feedback from this forum.

By the way, did you see how we ate the spuds raw on saturday? Our next stop is to go and give the Mancs a red eye in their "Old Toilet"

The free channels might not be available now due to the fact that there are not many Free to Air (FTA) channels on the EutelsatW4 satellite used by both DSTV and HiTV unlike the PAS7/10 (now IS9 and IS10) satellites used by the MyTV service which has a lot of them. I have acually scanned and only came up with a FTA radio channel (Radio Okapi) which seems to be broadcasting from Congo DRC as they play a lot of Soukous/Makossa music there.

By the way, do you use the satellite or the cable platform? as CNBC Africa is not yet available on my decoder (I use the satellite service)

I read in a newspaper interview granted by the CEO Toyin Subair that CNN will be discontinued from October and that CNBC was actually brought in to replace it.
He said that a south african company(must be DSTV), has been corresponding with CNN on trumped up allegations of right abuses so the CNN guys asked them to discontinue.

What I dont understand is that he initially said that HITV didnt have the right to air CNN on Satellite so am wondering if this CNN/Dstv issue will also affect the Cable.
He said they asked CNN to go to court since they had already signed an agreement with CNN's agents in West Africa but I guess somewhere along the line, he just decides not to have any more court issues.

He claims the CNN rights was purchased from a company(I think Disc communications), whom he claims are CNN agents in west africa.
So am just waiting to get clarifications from some people whether CNN would be off the Cable as well as Satellite.

And again, I just rescanned yesterday(I guess we are supposed to be doing that periodically), and Sky news and Eurosport news are now available on cable.

For medube who was doubting if HITV had more than one frequency, I think they do cause when you scan, it indicates frequencies that are scanning and you may get more than one BBC or MTV base. When you check, you find out that one of them may be working and the other will have no signal.

So I guess they are on different Frequencies( I may be wrong and dont claim to be sure about this).

Its getting better but I still think they should get some real channels with good movies. Whatever happened to channels like MBC2 or MBC4, they show even newer movies than DSTV and have other great entertainment prgrams.

I know cause I used to watch it when I had a Disc Communication /CTL connection.
What would it take them to get a channel like that?
I think its a Dubai based Cable channel.

Secondly @ Seun , DSTV started the exclusive rights to premiership thing. They sold the idea of exclusivity to the EPL. So I dont think Hitv would have gotten it any other way.

Thirdly @Hitv guys, At 4 thousand naira subscription per month, I dont think the idea of hitv being cheap is true anymore. Comaparatively, its in fact expensive cause am paying 4k per month just to watch football and news.

I am paying this amount now even their adverts still say 3k. This must stop. A lot of people I met at their office, had to go back cause they came with 3k to pay. I was lucky cause I knew that they were going to increase the subscription.
If this is happening now, how much will they increase it to when they add more channels?

I will advice everyone to hold on to their Dstvs for now and not throw or give it away yet. Cause if they continue increasing subscription this way as they add more channels, it would be useless and unwise to keep staying with them premiership or no premiership.

Hi guys,

My own No Access issue started 1 week before my subscription expired. I posted it in another topic on this site. I thought I was the only one and a friend suggested that maybe my subscription had expired.
I called the office customer lines(They work.Its just that there are usually hundreds of people calling the lines everytime).
Now the girl did me a disservice by telling me to switch of my decoder,remove the card and put it back after some minutes thereby making me feel that it was a problem from my end.

However, I did that so many times and nothing changed. I just decided to let it be since it was the FIFA break at that time and no leagues were on.
On Friday 14th, I took my card, took 4k subscription(I knew before hand that they were going to increase it from 3k 2 4k), and went to their office.
The crowd that I saw there scared the daylights out of me. I learnt people had been coming to resolve the issue since the last week and the crowd had always been like that each day.

I was determined to get that sorted cause the next day Arsenal was going to play and I didnt want to miss that.

Anyways, to get to the point, The issue was actually more with those of us using the Terrestrial whatever and not those on sattelite. They said that some people were getting their signals/channels(Mytv, I guess) and had to reconfigure their software so they required us to bring the cards to manually reconfigure.

My problem with this is that the management of HITV and the top technicians should communicate more with their sales and Customer service departments so that the right information will be disseminated at all times.

They actually wrote 1 month plus 1 week on my card after they reactivated it meaning that they are adding the one week I lost to the I month subscription I made that friday.

Right now, its working well but *scrambled channel* message still comes up once in a while afer hours of working but if I switch of and on, it comes back.

Another thing HITV should do is to load the offering with the free to air channels that they talked about when they were starting because at 4k per month now, it means am paying 4k for only football and news which comparably, is no more cheap.

Finally, I rescanned and now have E! entertainment back and a new channel , CNBC Africa which am sure a lot of people on nairaland will like. Its about business news worldwide but focuss on african business and stock markets . Nigerian stock markets and business is featured a lot too

I just hope he doesnt want to break/confess some really bad news. If you guys broke up 9months back and suddenly he wants to meet and talk(in person), it can be one of two things:

1)He wants to get back with you

2) There is some really bad news he wants to break or confess. Good news can always be shared on the phone.

If you have truly moved on as you say, Call him and ask him to forget about coming over and that he should tell you what it is over the phone. Tell him you are willing to spend the credit on phone.

There is no need testing things. He is a guy and he may take your invitation to visit as a sign that you are still interested.
On the other hand, Its good that your relationship wasnt based on sex otherwise one would be anxious as to the sort of talk that cant happen over the phone.

Guys, on the issue of the HITV not working when it rains, I havent experienced that. Dstv also doesnt work when it rains. Dstv is on KU band and even with internet, a little wind disrupts service and this happens with DSTV.

However, I don't know why Hitv would not sort out which matches to place on which channel before the mathes start. I mean , why would they be struggling to place arsenal match somewhere while the bolton match took up two places?

Why pay so much money and be so un prepared for the business proper? They have spanish league for Africa but still could not show the Barca match live but showed it later at night? Why would they miss the ACmilan natch just to give us three other Italian league  matches later?
Why would they have and pay for stations like E!, Art,  and Sky news and for weeks now, they are off and they can't do something about it?

During the laliga matches, they were advertsing Kenny music's PrimeTime Africa as a channel coming soon. Why get another Nigezie like thing?

I was told by one of the technicians that they will be adding free to air channels, so why dont they do that and spare themselves the embarrasing hi nolly, hi mix, hi kids and hi ovation nonsense? Those hi owned channels are a disappointment .

They are just like screen savers on a computer screen.

Anyways, There is still much more football than can be seen anywhere else and am totally enjoying the God TV.

The hi nolly, hi mix, and those stations that are breaking up are really pissing me. I want to support them but somethings just need to be done. About the Eurosport, are u sure? If so let me head over there immediately and demand mine. Also, I think we should start to form a HITV consumer group here to point them in the right direction and tell them where they are pissing ppl off. I watched Fox sports for two days but just this afternoon, I cant see it anymore. I dont know if there is an event going on now that has territorial restrictions. Also, we need to know what happened to E!

@ebos, I don't know where in the whole of Jonah, where God said if they don't repent. In Jonah 1 vs 1 the bible records: Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of ammitai saying, Arise go to Nineveh, that great city and cry against it(proclaim judgement), for their wickedness is come up before me. From the next verse, Jonah ran a different direction and there was no place that God said to warn them that If they don't repent, so and so will happen.If God wants to say something, He says it.

Now from chapter 3 vs 4, we see Jonah's message: "Yet 40 days and nineveh will be overthrown" There is nothing like "God said repent or else in the message" .

If you read from chapter 4 vs 1, You will see that the whole mercy and the fact that God didnt destroy Nineveh after all, displeased Jonah.
If he specifically heard God tell him to just go and warn Nineveh, he would not have been displeased that God spared them. Now read the whole of chapter 4 and see where God explains to him about His mercy.
There are other prophecies by men of God in the bible that did not come to pass and in the cause of this thread, I will be showing them.
In the issue of Tunde Bakare saying that IBB will be president, please go to their website and if there is anywhere he categorically said IBB will be president, let us know. What I heard him say once was that PDP was preparing IBB to be president. He never said God told him IBB will be president

Also, ebos, God did not say "If He could find one righteous person" in sodom and Gommorah, He would not destroy it.
Abraham was interceding on behalf of sodom and Gommorah and from Genesis chapter 18 from verse 24, Abraham began by asking if God would spare them if he could find 50 righteous people and God said yes that they would be spared.
The dialogue continued and Abraham continued reducing the number untill verse 32 of Genesis 18 when Abraham stopped at Ten people. So Abraham did not go beyond that number ten.

@ Const6 , If you really have done this and its working, why not contact some technicians at Hitv and suggest this to them? I mean, they wont be losing anythig since they ll still be getting their monthly subscriptions .

However, the repetition erks me but I thank God that Fox sports is back on now(Its quite an exciting channel).So when there is no live match, I can catch other sporting action on fox. I learnt they were battling about rights to some sporting events which were airing on Fox sports with Dstv. I think they have sorted that out. So we may even be able to watch Major league soccer and brasilian soccer on Fox sports. Hope Dstv doesn not have any problems with those as well.
Also, from 25th of august, the Spanish Laliga kicks off and Seria A follows the following week. This means we wont need to be watching those Manu vs Urawa fc repeats anymore cause there will be so much more Football.

I beleive its going to get better. Yes, I was really mad when Arsenal vs Blackburn match was breaking up in the first few minutes but I understand that paying for the the Premiership rights is not all they have to pay for, they also need to pay for Network Feeds. All the matches don't come from the same feeds(Telecom network).
This guys are actually bearing a lot of expenses right now(reliable source) and they need support cause the more the merrier. The more people that sign up, the better they can get.
Those of you that are on Dstv and paying 9-10k for subscription, why not downgrade to the dstv select which is about 3k or there about now per month and also get hitv which is 3k per month. This way, you will be paying less than what you were paying for the complete dstv bouquet but still get to watch all the football you need on hitv and some other great channels on dstv.

@ Afam, if you understand the scriptures as you insinuate, can you tell me what you think about the Jonah case that I wrote about in my earlier reply to this post? Was Jonah a false prophet? Do you really read the bible?(If you are a christian, that is). God specifically told Jonah to go and proclaim and prophecy to Nineveh that the city and all its inhabitants were going to be destroyed. The people *repented*, and God forgave and did not destroy them. Did God not say? in that situation? Did Jonah go to prophecy on his own?
Gods mercy supercedes all and God does not delight in the destruction of men and whoever comes to Him(repents), he will in no wise cast away.

Hello Bimbliss, I gathered from them when i went to get connected that the system is different and not sattelite. Theirs can be likened to the GSM technology and as such, they need to install Repeter/base stations everywhere they want to operate. That is why they cant start all over Nigeria at the same time. They are still Reeling from the huge amounts paid to get The premiereship and LaLiga. However, as at last week, they were testing the sattelite package at their office and so may be able to move into other cities in a couple of weeks time so that they can at least get the subscribers watching the matches while they sort out the base stations/Repeter issues.

2) Of course they are aware of when the premiership started. We have been watching the premiership :-)

3) I dont thing Hitv would have been given the licence based on political lobyings alone. They still had to pay the money for it. It was an open bidding and hitv simply outbid DSTV to it. Dstv has been having those privileges on a platter of gold cause they made the FA premiership guys think that West and Southern Africa were not that into the premiership and so they looped Nigeria in with all other african countries and gave them.
No one should pity dstv, they had ample opportunity to bring down the fees but refused. If they had listened to people, am not sure a hitv would have arisen.
Having said that, as a user of hitv, if you just want to watch all the football you want, then hitv is good but if you need to watch other things, please stay with dstv. Hitv is not and can not be compared with dstv in terms of other quality content(for now).
But I just got hitv for football and news so am not bothered.

To add to what sponge and the others here have said, Prophecies are sometime made to correct erring people. Its also made to point men to the right direction at all times.
If you guys are blasting Bakare for the prophecies of 1999, how do you know that it didnt make OBJ change and repent from some evil deeds?
God is a merciful God and most times, His prophecies come to make men repent and change their ways.
Have you guys forgotten Jonah in the bible? God asked him to go to Nineveh to pronounce judgement and destruction on the city through prophecy.
Jonah went and shouted from mountain tops , "Just forty days from now and this city will be destroyed" . Due to the gravity of the message, the people of the city repented and fasted(even animals were not fed and participated in the fast).
God being true to His word, forgave them and didnt destroy the city. Does that make Jonah a false prophet? No but the mercy and sovereinty of God supercedes all. Of course Jonah was not happy about the whole thing cause he felt God exposed him and didnt fulfill the word HE askeD jONAH to pronounce.
There are cases of kings in the bible who had prophetic pronouncements from Men of God of the bible about the kingdom remaining in their household but who got overthrown when the started sinning and taking God for granted.

As for Yaradua being used by God, why not? God used diverse kinds of people and even animals to fulfill his purpose in the old times so why not now?
A God fearing man is a God fearing man no matter where he is from.
God used Cyrus(A heathen king from a heathen nation) to achieve HIS purposes and in fact called him his annointed. Isaiah 45 vs 1 : "Thus says the Lord to his annointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held to subdue nations , etc" .If you read up on cyrus the heathen King, you will know just what God used him to achieve and he wasnt a jew neither was he a priest nor levite.

So guys please, get some understanding of the scriptures and not be quick to speak haughtily of what you no not.
