No one is against them operating a radio station, but using it to preach hate, disunity and future violence is the bone of contention. No sane government will allow such person go scott free.

Why not tell me, better still post video evidence of incisive comments made through the radio station.
What they preach does not matter, as a christian, what muslims preach doesn't exactly line up with what I accept but that's not a good reason to shut them down when they preach!!

What people preach in a democracy doesn't count; folks in the USA calling Bush and Obama members of illuminati isn't a reason to shut people down!!

It is when they break the law; in this particular case, the question to be asked is not whether they preach a message that we don't like; the question is where was the law breachedhuh

The irony of it all is that, today in history, is the exact day, in 1983, that Buhari dissolved the legislature and declared coup in Nigeria!!

But nobody used a media platform to preach hate and incite violence and destruction of lives and property during GEJ's time. And why are his supporters keeping quiet on the fact that he came into the country with a fake passport despite having two legal ones. Doesn't that depict that the said person is up to no good? Those are different charges on their own. He should remain in jail and face his charges abeg.
Wrong!! Radio Biafra had been transmitting/broadcasting since the time of Yaradua's administration, even over the internet. Neither Yaradua nor Jonathan bothered themselves with the gentleman. Freedom of speech is guaranteed by the Nigeria Constitution; the only time Biafra agitators where engaged by the government was when they broke the law.

The irony of this very discussion is that, today in history, December 12 1983, is the exact date that Buhari dissolved the National assembly and declared coup.

I didn't want to rate/score/comment on this issue but considering the youtube buffet I feel compelled to do so!!

This is where the ignorance of some Nigerians are perpetually betrayed.

Mr President in a media broadcast, before the entire world, "tactically" admitted been aware of the continued detention of at least 2 persons who the judiciary, via the courts have issued administrative bail via court orders, a direct breach of Nigerian law!!

The fact that the agency in question, involved in this breach of Nigeria law, the DSS, is under the brief of the NSA, which is directly under the presidency, is proof that Buhari approved of such actions personally.

The is a total contradiction of Buhari's mantra of obeying the constitution on assumption of office! It is also pathetic, that this kind of executive lawlessness is happening at time when the countries vice president is a Professor of Law - what an APCrian quagmire!! angry

I do not wish to sound like a prophet of doom, but permit me to go "Negro-Spiritual" on this matter!!

The Bible will rather have us believe, that a man who is faithful in little/trivial matters will also be faithful in much/weighty matters.

When the same Buhari was confronted by Medhi Hassan on Aljazeera, on past statements attributed to him concerning the "strong passion and desire, burning in his heart" and how he had once said that "He won't rest until Sharia is effected in the entire country"; President Buhari insisted that the constitution doesn't "allow" for it; what if he was lying??

If for an issue as trivial as administrative bail - I say trivial because it ordinarily doesn't involve the presidency - Mr President chooses to waltz in, a move which isn't "allowed" by the Nigerian constitution; what stops him from waltzing in too and declaring sharia in the entire country??

Already, Nigeria was listed by Saudi Arabia, as being among the islamic countries along side iran and turkey that are combining forces to fight sharia, and the Nigerian government didn't react to such an assertion, in a country with religious tensions already existing in the North East; shouldn't that bother the average right thinking Nigerian!!??

Most especially when 3 deadly attacks targeted at largely civilian population is count by the Nigerian government as a "technical defeat" of BokoHaram by Mr President himself - God will Judge him at his own time.

If I were Nnamdi Kanu's and Dasuki Sambo's lawyer; all they need to do is take the recording to court and let the Nigeria press do the rest!! That Media chat, is documentary evidence, that Mr President is the hand rocking the cradle, as far as the violation of court orders by the SSS is concerned!

It is too early in Mr President's administration to be talking like this, but this, by itself is an impeachable offence.

The only thing, that forms the foundation of any democracy, is the rule of law as established by the Judiciary! In other words, its the law and the ability to be compelled by established law that defines a democracy; remove the law and it a dictatorship.

If a sitting President and Vice-president feels that they are both above court orders; then we must be worried; if I may ask, considering his brazen admittance of stifling the rule of law, what stops Mr President from holding on to power, come 2019 assuming he loses an election!!

What we just saw, transpire in that video should be a cause of concern for all right thinking Nigerians and democrats alike and not religious/ethnic jubilations of bigotrious proportions that have no positive impact on the collective minds of men seeking to inspired by leadership at all levels/strata of society!!
PoliticsRe: Rating Of President Buhari's Media Chat by ehissi(m): 11:47pm On Dec 30, 2015
I choose not to score/rate the executive fellow; as far as I am concerned, Media Chat rejected!! Try again next year!!

The reasons are as follows;

1.) Mr President was asked vital questions about the Foreign exchange policy of his government! Which is currently having a major impact on our economy.

His answer?

Foreign exchange will only be accessible to critical sectors of the economy where growth is needed! Period!! Others can go and get foreign exchange at whatever high rate is obtainable from other sources - he is most likely referring to the black market who are enjoying a bumper harvest!!

A guest interviewer raised an observation; that given that Nigeria was still largely dependent on imports, such a policy won't be people/trade friendly!!

Plus there was the micro-economic angle, parents unable to send cash to their Children abroad, people unable to withdraw abroad with Naira-Cards, people abroad cut-off from funds they have in Nigerian banks; he also quoted his own personal experience about the british pound, which currently sells at the rate of #400 outside CBN and that he opened a domiciliary account and deposited £200 and that now, when he tries withdraw his pounds, his bank insists that they don't have Foreign exchange to give him!!

What did Buhari say?

"......I don't want to say I don't believe you, because I am not aware, but I will ask the CBN governor......I will ask the CBN governor to issue a press statement...."

Some people will clap at his honesty; which is nice!!

But the question remains, considering the implication of such a policy, the current state of the global economy, isn't it awkwardly abnormal - almost ridiculously clueless - for Mr President to feign ignorance of such a major policy directive!!??

A policy that put Nigeria in the news globally and caused J.P. Morgan to de-list Nigerian Bonds from the Emerging market government bond index - an index with asset weighted at $170billion!!

If he insists he is not aware; then who granted the CBN governor permission to carry on with such a policy!!?? On whose authority did the CBN governor, pursue that policy direction??

To me, feigning ignorance of an issue germaine to our economy amounts to Executive Macro-Economic recklessness!! Its an aberration, an APCrian quagmire caused by blind career politicians in power, a hoopla, that at a time when he is promising to rescue Nigeria and bring a change, he doesn't even know what is going on in his own cabinet - how much more the country!! angry

2.) The Question was directed at Mr President concerning the much stated "Technical defeat" of BokoHaram and the recent attacks and if he insists on a technical defeat!!

His answer?

Yes, he insists that BokoHaram is technically defeated!

His reason for insisting?

Because BokoHaram have been so defeated that they cannot attack the Nigerian military nor military installations and have been reduced to using IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) to target public places - the word IED too dey sweet baba for mouth sha, he cannot give interview on security and not call it. For whia, its a taboo!! grin -

This is first and foremost, a very different response from what he initially gave before when he was quoted as stating that BokoHaram couldn't launch a calculated, coordinated attack against Nigerians and have been reduced to using IEDs via suicide bombing!!

My Question? Considering that Mr President is a Retired General and a serving head of state; isn't that kind of response, reckless and irresponsible!!??

Last year Mr President himself was a target of a suicide bombing himself, during the Jonathan administration; would it be proper - assuming Mr president was killed in that attack - for the Jonathan administration to insist that BokoHaram remained "technically defeated", even in the face of such an attack??

Can we safely imply from Mr President's response, that the three deadly attacks that took place after he and Lai mohammed declared that BokoHaram was "technically defeated" - 1 of which involved a suicide bombing, another involving suspected BokoHaram attacking people queuing at a filing station waiting for fuel in broad daylight and another where 14 family had their houses razed to ground and no-one was spared from loss - all amounted to no losses to Nigeria as far as the Nigerian government was concerned!!??

He also said boldly, on assumption of office that they knew where the Chibok girls were and didn't go in to rescue them because the Mission Objective was to rescue the girls alive; tonight he changed parade and said that they were still seeking intelligence on the "credible" leadership of BokoHaram so they could confirm were the girls where, if they were alive and negotiate their release! What a great contradiction!!

As for the cases in court, it will amount to misdemeanour to even rate him there; it is even strange to think of it because the Judiciary is another arm of government! If the chat was with a Supreme court Justice or Attorney General of the Federation it would have been necessary but in this case, I find it irrelevant!!

In all, rating Mr President on this Media chat, in my books will be an insult on the collective intelligence of all men seeking to be inspired by leadership!!

Hence, Media Chat rejected, re-do the presentation again next year and we will see if we can actually give you a grade!!

Escuse me? Where were you when Jonathan went dancing 24hrs after a Boko Haram bomblast? Where were you when Jonathan told us Boko Haram have infiltrated his government but refused to lift a single finger to bring them to justice? Where were you when it took a bold young lady to direct the useless President to move an inch before he could be brave enough to address the chibok's issue? Where were you when it took Jonathan six weeks before election before he seriously take the issue of Boko Haram seriously all because of his hatred for the northerners.

During Jonathan's administration Boko Haram were taking over territories. We now know why. Jonathan and his co thieves were looting billion of dollars that were budgeted to fight the scourge.

Jonathan will not have peace in this life or after life.
I didn't want to reply this comment because in my own opinion; it appeared to be off-topic or off the subject matter.

Also, the core of your response seemed centred around what appears to be an Anti-Jonathan passion running in your bones!!

Lucky for us humans, the world is not dictated by what runs through your bones, but let me breakdown your comment into bits and pieces!

The Impression you are trying to sell to Nairalanders is that Jonathan hated Northerners; which is totally false!

The irony of your comment is that Jonathan's kinsmen are of the opinion that he loved the North and hated his own brothers, and for that, many voted against him from his state.

When General Gabriel Owoye Azazi was NSA, there was never a time when major air-strikes where launched against key BokoHaram installations; but when MEND was agitating in the South-south, air-strikes where launched on the most flimsy of attacks by mend - which can never be compared to BokoHaram because MEND never targeted Civilians arbitrarily like BokoHaram!!

It was Dasuki that took advantage of the Air-force, to really deal with Boko Haram from the air; infact both Airforce, Navy even police and Para-military where encouraged to raise Anti-terror squads as opposed to just the army, being the only force with an Anti-terror response squad!!

Also, a look at the Number of Federal Universities built by Jonathan, out of 9, universities, 6 where in the North, only one in the south-south, one in the south-west and one in the south-east!! This is minus the creation of the almajiri schools, for those who live a nomadic life that doesn't really allow for conventional education school system!!

All of those cited instances of "where were you" raised in your comment, in my Opinion are nothing but cheap propaganda tricks, borrowed from the APC campaign arsenal and meant to distract from the debate of this thread! That's cheap arm-chair politics that chooses to address people instead of issues!!

But if I wanted to tow your line of argument, I might as well say that the APC and Buhari hate Northerners too! Why??

From time immemorial, APC earned itself the Moniker of a "Boko Haram Party" for many reasons, two of which are as follows:-

1.) The ACN, which is a major party within the APC arrangement had always been at the forefront of campaigning for amnesty for Boko Haram!! They were openly against the American government listing BokoHaram as a Terrorist group initially - a move that would have mandated the USA to tracke and freeze all financial assets of BokoHaram within america's Macro-economic Jursidiction - and insisted that Jonathan Negotiate with BokoHaram or else he will be regarded as a dictator!!

2.) The APC/Femi-Falana/El Rufai/Buhari had always insisted that the Military should be removed from the streets in the North, up to even Maiduguri; time and time again countless television surveys done by AIT, NTA etc. show that nobody there wants the miltary to go; Why?? The police - including MOPOL - had never been adequate in providing security in the face of ethnic clashes, how much more in the face of BokoHaram attacks!

So if someone is asking the military, that is providing security for everyone to leave the streets; can we say such person loves Northerners??

The only time, in the History of the BokoHaram crisis that Northerners themselves ever asked for removal of the military from the streets was during the second wave of BokoHaram attacks; BokoHaram started guerilla style war-faring proper and changed their Uniform from pure green to Nigerian Army camouflage! So when Boko Haram attacks, most especially in the rural areas, they all believed it was the Nigerian army!

Boko Haram was using this system to boost their campaign, that the army was dominated by Christians and used it to brainwash ignorant youths for recruitment purposes; this is one of the reasons why Almajiri school system had to be created, also the Nigerian Military changed their Operational Uniform in the North to desert Camouflage, and all Soldiers where required to use camouflage vest - with their armed force crested on it - while on Operation or face court martial!!

Also each armed - force was encouraged to design Camouflage for their own armed force.

In any case, as I am talking to you now; 107 children have been abducted by the same Boko Haram, where is Buhari and where are you? And why isn't the media focusing on that issue??

Instead, media houses like vanguard, reported a story, where attorney general of the Federation was quoted saying that Chibok girls where not found by Jonathan because "Dasuki money" wasn't used to buy arms!!

Rubbish!!

I have said this time and time again, that the #Dasukigate issue - vis - a vis the social media bill - has been used to bully the media against reporting widely, like they did - during the Jonathan administration - the errors of the Buhari administration!!

What if I told you, as at now, that Senior Academic Staff of Nigerian Universities are currently on strike, what will you say??

But that information is not reported anywhere in the media, even though SSANU has released press statement, why??

I have lived in the North, still have my apartment there, I go there to chill; when the first Jos bombing took place, I was supposed to be on my way to terminus market!! For the record, the average man on the street in the North sees nothing like hatred in/from Jonathan!! What is mostly doubted are the calibre of people he placed close to him and that's all!!

As for the Dasuki matter, I don't want to go deep into specific details of it because it is senseless/political looking at it on the inside and senseless looking at it from the outside!!

Its like probing the Minister of Agriculture for abusing money meant paid for Oil licensing fees simply because the Oil well is on the ground!!

I have asked these question on Nairaland but no sensible answer has been issued and I will ask you again to show how off track the Dasuki matter is

1.) Is it the Chief of Defence Staff via the Ministry of Defence that is responsible for buying and Budgeting arms for the military or the Office of National Security Adviser??

The answer is Ministry of Defence, anywhere you ask!! NSA will only be involved if getting such arms require the use of underhand/covert tactics outside due process that must be undertaken by government!!

Nigeria was practically under arms embargo, no thanks to our darling APC chieftains who went abroad and insisted that attacking BokoHaram amounted to genocide!! Much of the arms that Goodluck used to prosecute the war against BokoHarm was smuggled in!!

Everyone who is conversant with the affairs of this country; does not need to be reminded that for the greater part of the Jonathan administration, arms for the Nigerian military were purchased through unofficial channels - a situation that was created by the current ruling party when they were still in the opposition, when the first wave of attacks against boko haram were initiated & they succeeded with help of ignorant Nigerians in politicising the Boko haram war. News archives are filled with stories of statements made by Chieftains both of Northern and southern descent in the opposition accusing the Jonathan administration of genocide & ethnic bias against Northerners in different quarters! The result of which, most developed nations refused to sell arms, under various legal codes to what was believed to be a government using military might to oppress its citizens or a government accused to be training snipers to shutup opposition because it didn't want to hand over power. All of which were just lies, at least buhari's swearing in leaves no one in doubt!!

Question, is it possible to buy arms - or anything for that matter - on the black market through due process??

Does it even make sense for someone to legally do an illegal thing - because technically, buying arms on the black market is illegal, abi??

First, consider the damage that such an open probe will cost the Nigerian government in terms of capital within the intelligence community - locally and internationally!! I said open probe because there's nothing that says buhari shouldn't know what happened during the arms purchase, but discretion should have been the watch word!! But because they want to be seen to be working & also the person who was at the helm of affairs is an arch-nemesis - at least we all know dasuki was sent by Babangida to kick buhari out of Dodan barracks in 1984 - you create a press buffet with anti-corruption being the theme!!

The same government is travelling everywhere looking for help to handle terrorism, its the same government that doesn't know when/how to talk and when to keep quiet!!

As for Jonathan having peace....................like I said earlier, this world - or the one which is to come - is not dicated by what runs through your bones!!

Enough said................

Obviously you missed this part.
He said that the insurgents had adopted a new style of attacking soft targets like motor parks, schools, entertainment centres, religious centres, killing innocent people mostly women and children
That is utter rubbish! Do a proper research on all the attacks that have been taking place since the time of Jonathan; its the same thing; na ignorance dey worry Nigerians!!

All the Major attacks done by Boko Haram and criticised by the then opposition APC has always been on Lai Mohammed's alleged soft targets!!

You sef use your brain; you go to the market to buy fish, only for a Military convoy, in broad day light, to raid the market, the only problem is that the Military convoy is Boko haram! That is what Lai Mohammed is calling a soft target; brazen broad day light attacks in public places, suicide bomb blasts in public places and the bagger lizard is saying new tactics!!

The 2013 Twin bomb blasts that took place at Terminus market road, by Railway line, right opposite Jos University teaching Hospital, and in front of Mr Biggs on ahmadu bello way was that new?? The Viewing Centre in Town - I believe it was anguwan Rogo - that was bombed at 9pm during a European League match, was that new!!??

What of the bauchi road bombings, not too far from Univeristy of Jos, that took place less than 6weeks after Buhari took over; was that new too??

Even the much famed chibok girls abduction, was it not achieved after an attack on a school?? Stop talking out of sentiments or a pathological obsession for a political structure/party of Career politicians who have nothing good to offer for now & are stalling for time!!

What of the last abduction of 107 kids by Boko Haram that they have kept outside the radar of the media; and have used the Dasukigate scandal to armtwist the media to be silent about it and not do follow-up stories on their rescue and the families of the abductees?? Is that new too, or is it because they haven't come for your family yet, that's why you are cool with crap that Lai Mohammed is spewing ba??

How much ground did Jonathan lose as at when he handed over? Wasn't it widely reported in the media that Buhari lost much ground within his first 3 months in office; a report that forced his hand to change service chiefs not too long after, when attacks by Boko Haram became more brazen!

Much of the most embarrassing attacks of Boko haram in the time of Jonathan's administration took place under the cover of dark; but Buhari's tenure na Korokoro daytime!

In case you don't know, Lai Mohammed is both Minister of Information and APC PRO, so he is naturally gifted in talking from both sides of his mouth!!

I personally know folks and friends whose cousins/relatives where among the chibok girls, I know folks who have lost families and relatives to Boko Haram attacks; who make calls everyday to find out what's going on in the villages, from maiduguri to fica, so don't just sit down there and cross leg on top of promo data and talk unguardedly about stuff you have no knowledge about!!

I think it is not a bad approach. Too much importance was given to the insurgents and they thrived on it. However, let our attention be diverted to other things whilst the military handle them proportionately. When they noticed we do not feel concerned, they shall surrender.
Trust me, that is the exact kind of attitude that led them to bomb the UN building in Abuja!! It will only enbolden Boko haram to do more; and it will encourage the incumbent government to get lazy and do less!

Government can always deny or pretend that its own citizens were never attacked; but when foreign diplomats or Nationale's are attacked, denial equals complicity!!

When Buhari came into power; the first - and the most foolish - security call he made was to remove all military check points in Nigeria, including the entire North!!

What he didn't know was that, the very model adopted by the Military in crafting these checkpoints, as well as the framework for supervising them and parleying with the local community as a means of gaining intelligence and ensuring smooth communication between "Protector" and the "protected"; which resulted in the various STF's and JTF's in the north was designed Da Jonah Jang - the former governor of plateau state - (who happens to be a retired Airforce Air Commodore)!!

He ordered their removal, and all hell broke lose: multiple attacks, clashes with no line of defence except our weak police, increased spate of suicide bombings - even Jos that is highly dominated by Christians wasn't left out - the second time, he reordered their return but chose to do it outside the radar of the media!

Question!! Did General Muhammadu Buhari apologise for the lose of lives that resulted from that reckless decision? The answer is no!!

Second Question! What has the government said so far about the additional 107 children that were adopted again in borno? The answer is nothing!

Why? The Media consciously placed it outside the radar!!
And yet, using the same Media, they - APC - gave Jonathan hell over the Chibok girls!!

The next question! How far will the government really go with this Media blackout in reporting specific issues and what hope is there for transparency and accountability if the government, armtwists the media into this kind of a nonchalance??

Your guess is as good as mine!!

At least 14 people were killed and several others injured by Boko Haram gunmen in a Christmas Day attack on a village in northeastern Nigeria, vigilantes said Saturday.
Attacking astride bicycles, the jihadists invaded Kimba village in flashpoint Borno state around 10:00 pm on Friday, opening fire on residents and torching their homes.

“Not a single house was spared in the arson,” another vigilante, Musa Suleiman, said after visiting the razed village.
Hundreds of Kimba residents fled to Biu nearby, where they were put up in a refugee camp already brimming with people running from Boko Haram.
The attack comes just days before Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s self-imposed deadline to stamp out the group expires on December 31 and in the same week he said that Nigeria has “technically” defeated the jihadists.
Buhari took office in May vowing to end the six-year insurgency that has killed over 17,000 people and spooked much-needed investors in Africa’s largest economy and foremost oil producer.
Nigerian troops have won back territory from Boko Haram, but in response the jihadists have increasingly resorted to suicide bombers — many of them young children — to wage war for an independent Islamic state.
The militants have damaged what little infrastructure existed in the country’s underdeveloped north at a time when the government is facing a cash crunch as a result of the free-falling oil price.
According to the Global Terrorism Index, a report released by the New York-based Institute for Economics and Peace, it “has become the most deadly terrorist group in the world”.
The UN children’s agency said this week that over one million Nigerian schoolchildren have been kept out of school because of the conflict, warning that the lack of education will fuel radicalisation in and around Nigeria.
The jihadists have allied themselves with the Islamic State group, but experts doubt the scale and scope of the collaboration.
Still, there are growing fears that a once localised hardline Muslim movement is morphing into a regional jihadist threat as Boko Haram launches attacks on Nigeria’s neighbours Chad, Cameroon and Niger.

Still, there are growing fears that a once localised hardline Muslim movement is morphing into a regional jihadist threat as Boko Haram launches attacks on Nigeria’s neighbours Chad, Cameroon and Niger.

What of this attack: are they denying that this attack never took place?? Are these people not Nigerians? Are they a soft target as well? No one family was spared in this attack; are the blood of these people slain in this attack not proof that Lai Mohammed is a man who conscience is led only by his political interest??

Let Real Nigerians, who are not members of the Change Agent Media crew, who have not soiled their hands with APC campaign funds, let them be the Judge!!

Boko Haram terrorists have opened fire on motorists queueing for fuel at a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation filling station in the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno state capital.
Thought detail is still scanty as the attack just took place now, Daily Trust can report that the assailants arrived the filling station on Molai road in vehicles.
Details later...

Are these the soft targets that Lai Mohammed was refering to??

Did Adesina tell you the capacity he was speaking in? PDP members remain wailing ekpas.
I believe so strongly that you are much more intelligent than you would rather have us believe from this your comment!! Or better yet, you got carried away by your party affiliation to note something I said in my comment!!

In any case, you didn't have to quote my entire comment to make your point; this would suffice!!!

".......Adesina spoke through his twitter handle; the same twitter handle from which he speaks in his capacity as Special Assistant to the President on Media and publicity....!!"

Now, observe this portion of my comment in bold above, and then review/rephrase your question!! Then we can have a very intelligent debate!!

Do you remember that Metuh called APC, Janjawèed, a terrorist group?
Metuh spoke first and foremost in his capacity as a citizen of this great country Nigeria as well as in his capacity as a spokesperson of the PDP - which is alien to the constitution!!

Adesina spoke through his twitter handle; the same twitter handle from which he speaks in his capacity as Special Assistant to the President on Media and publicity!!

If the Publicity officer of the APC or PDP speaks, it is assumed that such statement could be the official position of the party!!

Likewise, if the Spokeman for Mr President speaks, it is believed, that he just aired the official position of the government!!

It makes a mockery of the office of Mr President, in much more sane climes, the Ministry of Information would have given a statement, distancing Mr President from such comment made by Mr Adesina or Mr Adesina would have been asked to ensure that his comment is not taken out of whatever context he meant to portray!!

But then, when a green horn is made president, things happen.........

I don't want to hold brief for him but we shouldn't overreact to some harmless tweet.
I believe that when he learns to start sending meaningful and impactful tweets - as spokesman of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria - as opposed to sending just "Harmless" tweets - as comedian of the Federal Republic of Nigeria -, Nigerians will start learning how not to over-react!!

This man ought to be very careful, if tomorrow he is accused of looting the treasury at his ministry by staff; which mouth will he use to defend himself?

PoliticsLautech Doctors Dare Aregbesola Over Sack Threat by ehissi(op): 6:12pm On Dec 23, 2015
By Gbenga Olarinoye

Osogbo—Medical doctors working at th Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, yesterday dared the sack threat by Osun state government, describing it as a huge joke.

Medical doctors in  Osun state medical facilities have been on strike since Monday, 28th September,  to press home their demands for implementation of a special salary scale for doctors code-named Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, CONMESS and relativity payment among others.

But the state government in a statement issued by Mr. Sunday Olajide, the permanent secretary, Human Resources and Capacity Building at the weekend, gave the striking doctors till Friday, December 25, 2015 to return to work or be sacked.

Addressing newsmen in the premises of the Teaching Hospital yesterday, the chairman, Association of Resident Doctors, Lautech Teaching Hospital, Dr. Owolabi Adeyinka, said the allegation against the doctors that they are being paid salaries, despite being on strike, was untrue.

According to him, resident doctors were last paid full salary in June, stressing that since then, they have been receiving stipend that was not even up to half of their monthly pay.
Owolabi said the state government, despite not paying its doctors with the federal government approved adjusted CONMESS and relativity payment, it has been using a tax table meant for the state paying CONMESS to tax them.

He added that members of the association have been funding update of their various local and international courses, national examinations and outside postings, which according to him should be the responsibility of their employee.

He insisted that Association of Resident Doctors, ARD, was not affiliated to any labour movement, hence no union could sign any agreement on their behalf on issues of  its members welfare.
