@Babe: It was mostly a poor attempt at a joke. . . was fishing for a few chuckles Nah, I'm conservative about a lot of things, but as far as career stuff, I feel women should get to make the decision themselves. Nothing worse than being stuck in a career that you absolutely hate. And being a housewife is a career that I suspect would get boring pretty fast |

Both of ya'll should relax. Let's have a free and fair election, and all sides should stand by and ACCEPT the result.
At this point, it is any man's game.
May the best candidate win! |
If Tinubu becomes VP candidate to Buhari then indeed, PDP has a lot to worry about.
TInubu's role is not as a political officeholder. That is not how he should serve the nation's interests. If he is somehow smuggled into VP, I become against the alliance. I don't support any of the candidates - even GEJ but whoever guarantees the following, with my benefit of futuristic hindsight, will have my support;
1) Creation of a 6th state for the SE. More economic/political liberation of geopolitical zones. 2) Speedy development of critical national infrastructures e.g. Second niger bridges, construction of large airports and renovation and expansion of existing ones, renovation of existing university infrastructures, massive rail constructions and expansions - all to be carried out under PPP schemes. 3) Strengthening of anti-corruption agencies as well as implementing a more independent, developed and robust national police force. 4) Speedy implementation of the power generation/ reform plan (drafted by GEJ's government). 5) Construction of at least 3 ultra modern specialist hospitals in each geopolitical zones as well as banning of medical trips for government officials. 6) Removal of immunity clauses for government officials. Reduction of government size with each political zone sending only 2 senators to senate, with each 2 senators being under a governor general representing a specific geo-political zone as Custodian. 7) De-centralization of political power from the centre, to the geopolitical zones as well as drastic reduction of financial perks for NASS officials. 8. Renovation and development of more sea/river ports in commercially viable areas around the Atlantic coast of the nation. 9) Speedy construction of refineries. 10) Massive economic revolution utilizing best technocrats to be spearheaded by the likes of Okonjo-Iweala to redesign the structure of the economy. 11) Modern national records and registration of births and deaths. 12) Referendums on national affairs to ensure a people-oriented government.
These are just sparse thoughts of mine. Of course they could be fine-tuned but, these would catapult Nigeria into the 21st century. I am in support of most of those ideas. |

Tinubu cannot deliver the SW to Buhari. Nobody in the SW wants to see that dude anywhere near the VP or Presidency.
I don't mind Ribadu stepping down to better the country as a whole, but certainly do mind if it is to satisfy Tinubu's selfish personal interest. |

Alj Uche: Bola Ahmed Tinubu ,former governor of Lagos state is also known to be the chief advocate of the move to have Ribadu step down from within the ACN.He is said to be eyeing the presidency in 2015 and wants to be vice president to Buhari now.In fact, posters hinting at the Buhari/Tinubu alliance are very visible at some strategic locations in Kaduna .Insiders said Tinubu has been doing all he can to ensure that the alliance between ACN and CPC materializes. WTF? NO to Tinubu as VP, or anywhere in elected office. . . |

jensinmi: @ ekt_bear: My brother, that is like saying the fact that Yar Adua did not go after Odili, Attah, Turaki, Fayose or so many others is evidence they did nothing wrong.
As an Ekiti man, you fall my hand with that statement o my brother.
Did you or any of your family back home in Ekiti eat any of Ayo Fayose's 1.2 billion Naira poultry??
I was there in Ekiti then o and I didn't see or eat any of it. Maybe Fayose and the folks in the government house ate N1.2 billion worth of chickens by themselves. Odilli etc were all PDP men, no? Wouldn't it have been wise to prosecute Tinubu immediately after he left office? Or after you lost Edo, Osun, or Ekiti to him Yet nothing was done. Was this just kindness from the PDP from the biggest threat to their rule (a guy who looks like he'll play an instrumental part in taking them down Saturday!). . . or a fish too difficult for them to catch? |
Politics › Re: Ribadu Stands Down by ektbear: 11:40pm On Apr 12, 2011 |
agabaI23: How will they spread the new alliance? We have radio and television in Yorubaland, not to mention word of mouth Might not be enough to get a block vote, but if you can swing a significant fraction of the #2 population group in the country, then you'll do pretty well. |
Politics › Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by ektbear: 11:36pm On Apr 12, 2011 |
Why didn't someone like Yar'Adua go after Tinubu if his skeletons are that serious or easy to dig up?
It seems doubtful to me that he is that easy a fish to land. . . not so much generosity from the PDP (or anyone else) as a very difficult battle to win. |
Politics › Re: Ribadu Stands Down by ektbear: 11:27pm On Apr 12, 2011 |
muami: So who supporter does Ribadu have that would now vote for Buhari? If Cpc like make dem form alliance with all the other parties. Na only almajiris for North go still vote for dem.South Westerners are not like almajiris who are COWed to act. Isn't an issue of being "cowed." Everyone must do what is in their best interest. Isn't anything personal. . . no hard feelings. Just strategically it makes sense for the ACN to cut a deal. . . and I guess for whatever reason (lack of trust, etc), GEJ's offer was not accepted. |
Politics › Re: Ribadu Stands Down by ektbear: 11:22pm On Apr 12, 2011 |
Gbawe: Like I have said all along , the ACN remains committed to working towards ousting the PDP. Anyone who thinks Tinubu will fall for GEJ's 'Carrot' of cabinet positions is deluded. Tinubu actually thinks he can help banish the PDP !!!! We heard Ribadu is a "spoiler" for GEJ and we heard Tinubu is the "greatest threat to democracy" and I told you all , consistently , that those were hasty talk .
The SW is now controlled by the ACN . As thing stand , currently , Not many , in the ACN , are interested in what GEJ has offered . After OBJ's treachery , it is not rocket science. Fair enough. I feel a bit bad for GEJ. Oh well, what must be done, must be done. |

Jarus: Latest Info from my source has it that 'it's done but details still sketchy'.
Pls let's begin integration process with ACN. Thank God Tinubu did not accept GEJ's overture because source said GEJ rushed to Lagos yesterday to beg Tinubu, and Tinubu may give in, given the fact that Jonathan gives him more protection. Which protection does Tinubu need? |

Keep believing in delusions.
No man can lose an election in Nigeria if he has 2 of the 3 largest voting blocks in the country behind him. Now, one might question how solidly behind Buhari one of the blocks is. But if they vote in massive #s for him, he will win. Simple as that. |
