China would be pretty foolish to wake up Japan.

They need to calm their azzes down and not risk the progress they've made over the past few years

PoliticsRe: PDP Governors Boycott Tukur’s Book Launch by ektbear: 5:46pm On Sep 16, 2012
The raging cold war between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors and the party’s national leadership played up yesterday in Abuja, as most of the governors boycotted the launch of a book in honour of the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.

The presentation of the book, The Global Villager, a biography of Alhaji Tukur, was part of the activities that marked Tukur’s 77th birthday.
There is something...hilarious about this to me. Global Villager, indeed.

PoliticsRe: Are Hausas Still The Largest Tribe In Naija? by ektbear: 3:09am On Sep 16, 2012
Well, do you consider Hausa-Fulani one ethnic group, or not? If so, then that group is largest, according to the official censuses they've had in the past (which quite a few Nigerians dispute).

If you view Hausa as a separate group, I doubt they are the largest, even by those official censuses. Your best bet is to find one of them and perhaps do some guesstimation of how much of H-F is hausa vs. fulani.

PoliticsRe: Introduction Of N5,000 Note: Nigerians Are Wasting Their Time – Sanusi Lamido by ektbear: 3:05am On Sep 16, 2012
Suppose instead of introducing an N5000 note, he redenominates the currency, removing two zeros.

So you exchange N100 for a "new naira."

Would anyone be opposed to the latter?

So how can the latter be OK but introducing an N5k note be insane?

Are they not effectively the same thing?
PoliticsRe: Are Hausas Still The Largest Tribe In Naija? by ektbear: 3:01am On Sep 16, 2012
Well, they never were the largest ethnic group.

It is only some supposed group called "Hausa-Fulani" that was numerically the largest.

We'll never know what the true demographics of Nigeria are until there is an honest attempt at a census.
A late intellectual from osun state Nigeria once said "Religion is a disease of the mind"

Do not be mistaken, I worship my God: but not to the extend of behaving irrationally (either muslim or christian)

...Arabs are particularly infected by the disease in religion...
Meh. Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and Chinese/Japanese traditionalists don't particularly seem mentally diseased to me. Let us call a spade a spade...there is one religion that is evil. The rest aren't too bad.
