ELDEEEThe more reason it beats me u dont kno what's what.
When u post a line and discuss that line dont start imagnin pple wil quote u outside of it.
Always stick to the issue on ground.
Even if u put PS: its a 12 verse track, it dont mean poo.
it is what u quoted and discuss that is up for discussion!.
Nope . . .  that's just like saying I have to post all the verses on Deathblow because I want to discuss the song.
It's the music section . . . the reason why I reference songs is so that you know what I'm talking about.

I made a statement that could only have been referring to the the full track. . . 'And what's the beef with Saucekid sef?? He gave verse one to Rugged, verse two to the rapper whose name shall not be mentioned and verse three to Saucekid'.
How could two bars that I quoted cover this whole thing??

That point you just attempted to make is baseless.

DBR:
The incongruent nature of examples neva cease to amaze me, really, i give u credit for that.
talk bout doin a bosom stroke in a quicksand! u r truly spectacular.
Off the dome ask anybody bout the line; erbody wld sure tell u JTerry, yes!
ask them to give u 2more name they kno, loads of then will stutter, cos noody knows of another.

Now the 7years line: me for one, S didnt eevn cross me mind not to talk of K.
I didnt even realise readily that SK is 7yrs in d industry! And it aint even a major news.
And culd apply to other cats. No?
See, u made your point but it's pointless cos it point at nothin! grin
im done.
Now you are regular on this section . . . I don't know how possible it is for you to say you've heard the 'seven years'(six years in 2009) reference used for anyone apart from Saucekid .
Of course it's not as direct as 'Shag your wife' line but that doesn't mean it's not relatively more direct compared to 'love means nothing'.
When you're done clutching straws . . . get back at me.

Tnx to all who commented.

I'm impressed . . . I'm quite happy that he listens to his fans.
That's the best way to succeed.

At least DBR won't need to force interpretations from the font, the colour, the letter on the hat, the arrangement of tracks, the shiny part of the CD grin grin

So DBR . . . how we go take share this royalties?? grin grin
Just kidding.

hahahnaaaa~~u r a joke! grin grin
Dunno but sth just tells me im more musically ecclectic than u.
Boy, dyu kno hw many years of listenin to music i got under ma beltears? grin
When i was talkin bout Pavarotti and Bocelli, u think i was just throwin up names?
your collectin of music will pale if u cmpare to mine(even tho i lost tons when ma system crashed)

Plus, I studied music, i play the keyboard, i was in d choir, i critique works of art~~i direct,
i paint, and when i do i listen to classical symphonies. I workin on a canvas and Mozart or Bach is
playin in d background~~my rendition of Jesu Joy was commended~~dont even get me started.
Boy, im as broad as broad can be! grin
Come on DBR . . . how predictable can you be??
I mention taste in music and voila . . . Mozart pops out. . . lol
WOW!!! You actually listen to JSB??
What next?? 'Hi I'm DBR . . . I know football so much because I watch Pele and Maradona play' grin grin grin
Anyway . . . I'm going to let you enjoy yourself, it's good for you. tongue tongue

DBR:
I'l like to believe ma ears are better trained than urs so i culd spot wat u wld easily dismiss.
That said, U cant say there was NO MELODY in the hook!
May not be as melodic as others but that dont mean the complete absence of it.
U may not like it, but that too dont make it trash, and as disappointin as u make it sound.
He didnt go off beat, didnt sound forced, distorted, and lacks rhythm, Gosh eldeee!!!

Ok xpected sth hotter, more catchy, but he gave u this, i understand your plight.
But dont deny the existence of elements that r there just to press home your grievance, ok?

oNe
You 'will like to believe' . . . being a key clause.
Well, I can't keep dragging this back and forth, I won't change your opinion.

Just the same way you won't change the views of the many music critics, some of which have described the chorus as 'inane' . . . and the millions of Drake fans that have expressed their dissappointment.

Now . . . be predictable, say I'm being influenced by public opinion. . . say the critics are spewing fuckery and say that doesn't prove anything. grin grin

DBR:
Eldee,
the way u always wriggle your way out of point neva cease to amaze me!
U r the only one seeing a direct shot at M.i or SauceKid here.
Plus initially, u leaned toward it being a shot at M.I, now claimin u left his name out cos u aint sure?
Have u eva regarded SK as d best rapper? NO.
The dude u'v seen as that is M.I
so when u say We know u ref. Mi
This:~~is just an addendum to the issue.
Talk about wriggling out of the heat . . . look who dropped the Talking To You part faster than hot potatoes grin grin

I said it clearly . . . three verses . . . one was clearly Ruggedman, second was sumone I couldn't mention and third was clearly Saucekid.
Dude . . . you I'm scared of Modenine or sumn?? I'm not even a rapper, but I don't see any reason to make a quotable controversial statement without being entirely sure.

Yeah I think it is M.I . . . but I'm not entirely sure, sue me.
I don't argue blindly, I accept that other people might make sense. When you made the point about Modenine wanting to do a collabo with M.I, I stepped back to see where you're coming from.
Yeah I might be entirely wrong . . .I don't know why NLers believe in this whole prerogative B.S.
Why should I discard your point to 'win'??

It makes people sound stupid after a while . . . I know how daft I'll look if I made that statement and M.I and Modenine come next week and collabo.

DBR:
Plus "baby boy" wasnt in the lines u quoted that led to this whole discussion.
"U'v been in the game 7 yrs", ok so tht is your defination of direct? Way to go boy!
in your myopic knowledge M9,or whoeva SK was ref. to is d only dude thats been in d game for 7yrs?
eldee, im done doin this bojuboju circus wit u~~~gosh!!
Tryna come atop a discussion at all cost is makin u spew garbage.
I talked about the three verse . . . I expect anyone arguing to have listened to the whole song.

Why is the Saucekid line direct?? Because it has become a norm in Nigerian hiphop circles to refer to diss Saucekid about being in the game for seven years and not releasing an album.
When sumone says . . . 'Shagging your team mate's wife' in football circles . . . the first thing that comes to your mind is JT.
Why?? Because recent happenings have made that a major object of discourse.

You can try to deny it . . . but every idiot knows what's what.
As I said, I'm not making the rules, I'm applying the reasonable man test.

Eldee, good post. Thanks for putting me on to J Cole. Good lyricist, good image. He should blow. Notice how he actually flows with the rhyme. Not punchline olympics like our naija copycats do.
Thanks man . . . You should get his two mixtapes, they're next level.
His flow reminds me of those days when we used to rap along to songs without knowing what the words meant. grin

Music/Radio › Fingers Crossed: Most Anticipated Hiphop Albums Of 2010. by eldee(op): 7:54pm On Mar 09, 2010
1. Drake - Thank Me Later
For a rookie in the game, he needs no introduction at all. How many rookies get to work with Timberland, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Kanye West and Mary J Blige before their first album??
He's got a list of performances that even stars would wish for. . . He says it himself, with so much hype he 'could sell a blank disc'.
Thank Me Later's first single might be on shaky grounds with audiences but his CV tells us we can still keep our fingers crossed on this one.

What to expect?? A Kanye-ish delivery of personal rap tunes with Drake going into head-on battles against great artistes. . . his themes will probably centre on a halfway egoistic and halfway grateful narrative of his life since he chose rap as a career.

Tasters: Best I Ever Heard, Forever, Over, So Far Gone, Heartbreak Drake Series . . .

2. Nas & Damian Marley - Distant Relatives

If there was any justice in the world, we would not have to wait six whole months from the original release date to listen to what could be the best crossover album since Jay-Z and Linkin Park's Collision Course. Nas' cred cannot be doubted, he's been consecutively nominated in the last three Grammys. His discography boasts of what many people have described as the 'best fifty minutes in hiphop history' Illmatic.  cheesy cheesy
Alright, we've come to accept that we will never get another Illmatic but we all saw how good the last mash-up between God son and the Son of Legend was. smiley Road To Zion was as good as these collabos go.

What to expect: A descriptive torch being placed on Africa, the Black Man and a head-on war against neo-colonialism and capitalism. If you loved Welcome To Jamrock and Troubador, you'll love this. Nas Vs Damian Marley sprinkled with Stevie Wonder, K'naan and Joss Stone . . . say no more.

Tasters: Road To Zion, K'naan's Africa, As We Enter.

3. Lupe Fiasco - Lazers

While artistes like Drake are giving full EPs on free downloads, the self-acclaimed Coolest nigga went so uncool when he went into a rant about on leak off this album. Lupe's one artistes that has managed to cut through genre divides. Jay-Z even admitted to stealing his live-band concept in concerts. His previous attempts have been critically acclaimed, so there's no question about his ability.

What To Expect?? More stars, comets and spaceships. grin grin
Aight . . . maybe not that but he's got this way of trying to appeal to a certain sect of people. His delivery is always on point though and a true fan of modern hiphop will know how eclectic he can go.

Tasters: The Coolest, I'm Beaming, Enemy of The State (Mixtape)

4. J. Cole - To Be Announced

What can we say about J.Cole?? Erm well . . . he's not done much, in three years, he only killed Jay-Z on his own shit, killed Wale on his own shit, flexed lyrical muscle with Talib Kweli, appeared on XXL's Leaders off the New School and released a mixtape that many critics have described as one of the best albums of the last decade. cheesy cheesy
This is not bad considering the fact that the only J. Cole most people knew three years ago was popular for his high paced football stepovers.
The College Boy shows no signs of slowing down with tours all around the US and more collabos. If this album is anything like The Come Up then the contention for Album of the Decade might be coming a bit early.

What To Expect?? Realistic all-american stories of a college boy . . . women, being broke, being rich. Expect lyrical showboating in some parts of the album like he did on his mixtapes and flow that could put the River Thames to shame. He's quite smart to so watch out for punchlines that are made from everyday words like . . . 'have your daddy looking for you. . .this ain't finding Nemo though'  grin grin

Tasters: A Star Is Borne, The Come Up, The Warm Up.

5. Pill - To Be Announced

Like J. Cole, he's an XXL Freshman to, also, like J. Cole, he's from the South of USA, he may not have a honour roll degree qualification but he's a genius too. Coming from Atlanta, he's got the burden of carrying the name already placed forward by the likes of Outkast and Ludacris.
With a few mixtapes to his name . . . we all know we will not be disappointed on this one. Pill's never-been-done-before narratives could help to bring back clever gangsta hiphop to where it used to be.

What To Expect: More street stories, a reflective exposition of life on Atlanta's street corners in a stream of lyrical showboating. His straight to the point lyrics will probably not ensure commercial success but they'll sure take you back to those days when you used to play Ice Cube in the car so loud in residential areas. . . just because you wanted to grin grin

Tasters: 4180 The Prescription, 4075 The Refill (mixtapes)

your comparin them is soo appallin'

oNe
I didn't compare Drake to U2 . . . I'm sending you those albums to improve your own taste in music.
Your standards are way too low . . . your understanding of what's melody is questionable and your inference that I can't spot a good sound is laughable grin grin
Now if you listen to them, it gives you a broad view of what's good music and also stops you from dropping your standards that low to accommodate sounds like this.

oNe
I can't describe sounds like Elrazur would, that doesn't mean I don't know what's a good sound and what's not.
You question my appreciation of music?? I laugh in Deathblow II grin grin
Not boasting but the only people that listen to a wider range of music than moi on NL are the likes of Doyin13.

Hiphop is crap music . . . anything goes. But when you plan to sing, it will be judged against already set standards . . . and Drake disappoints on this hook.
If you think this hook has melody, then I'll have to send you a couple of Aerosmiths/U2 albums to enrol you in this school. tongue tongue
Music/Radio › Re: Favourite Rap Lines By Nigerian Rappers by eldee(op): 6:20pm On Mar 09, 2010
DBR:
If cos of the baba this baba that line u say TTY aint a general diss track~
with the same logic u cant classify M.I's SWTD as general diss cos of this line:

Hate on ma style hate on ma flow hate on ma vocal cord/ u set a Bad man loose like an open door/
Can you compare it to him saying 'you ain't bad man' or sumn like that??
He didn't imply an insult to Badman on that line and you know that.

Just because I talked about implication doesn't give you the right to use the floodgates argument . . . we have to use the reasonable inference test.

How direct can it go?? 'you claiming you're this baba, that baba' . . .'when I diss a baba' or Saucekid's 'you been in the game for seven years'
And you're comparing it to you set a Badman loose?? I think you're just insulting my intelligence.

DBR:
Therefore u cannot prove or infer that this ^^^line was takin shot at M.I
That one I cannot prove . . . that's why I put Saucekid's name and left out M.I.
The whole point of using sublimnals like 'baby boy' and 'love means nothing' is to get people asking questions.

But I know that this sounds more like it's directed towards M.I than anyone else, especially with weak references like 'generic version of Lil Wayne'.
I can't prove that, you can't prove nothing too . . . but for now, my own theory on this still sounds stronger till you bring sumn concrete.
Music/Radio › Re: Another ElRazur Beat [part 4] **Free Download** by eldee(m): 4:52pm On Mar 09, 2010
@ElRazur

Maynne . . . I cannot say anything else.
You know in the good ol' dayz when they used to have power cuts at TV stations and they used to stop inbetween to say they'll be right back??
This is what I used to hear grin grin

I think the main problem with this is the fact that it carries no emotion. . . and the piano tune was just not pleasant to the ear.
The piano going softer/in a different key would make a good background sound for slow paced album outro. . . and maybe a high pitched soul sound/a couple of kids singing.
Listen to M.I's Thank You and It's Ova Ish, Kanye's Last Call

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeRO97v3ydI

It's kinda getting more popular now especially in debut albums.

Not ma story, it is THE story. I kno when d convo took place, ok.
He aint referin to M.i in the line, u can make all the assumptions
but it's got nothin to do wit M.i.

I rmemba the line on "Talkin to u"- "Look jester U deluded u'r not king, u d funny guy doin carwheel in front of him"
E'rbody said t'was RM, and i just laff, cos it had absolutely nothin~`nadah~~zilch~ to do wit RM.
Dudes just put ideas and rationale tgeda sayin RM is d king of hiphop so it's gotta be RM.
But when i told some d incident that led to d line, they were like waaat?!!
M9 uses happenin to rhyme, not cos he's beefin anybody, but an occasion may just inform a nice line for him.

All im sayin is M.i aint the target of the line. True fact.
This is how hiphop beef goes . . . when you throw a diss track that you do not intend to be directed at a particular person, you remove any references that could link to the person and refer to the threat in 3rd person plural.
Most hiphop disses are implied. . . check em out.

When you use lines like 'diss-a-baba' a few months after your main competition has just released an album called 'Ruggedybaba' . . . no one cares about your intention.
SWTD was a general diss . . . even when Iceberg dissed M.I, it was difficult to tie the track to anyone. . . same with 'I'm Hot'.

I think the whole B.S about 'I wasn't dissing Rugged' is just him trying to use us as pawns.

Eldeegy huh huh Eldeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! shocked shocked
How cld u say sth like this??
U cannot be talkin bout a verse not being in sync wit pace of track
and then say u aint listenin to d beat but just d words! C'mon!!
Even Flowshow know u dont have exactly the same # of words
on every verse, beat is regular but consonants differs
so u will of necessity run over some word or slow down on some
to achieve balance~~~every but u kno nauuwww, u dey dull me o
your most respected rappers on delivery~Em and Mi both do it, almost all rappers do
That's why I said I'm not good at describing sounds in the first place.
I'm judging it as I would if there were no beat in it.
There's no flipping melody in that part . . . it's not the number of words, it's the way they are arranged.
Lack of rhythm . . . distortion of the pace.

I listen to so many genres of music . . . I know when a collection of sound is pleasant to the ear, this one isn't.
Come on . . . I respect Drake's hooks . . . Forever, Best I Ever Had, Off That, this is just different.

DBR:
Hehheee, so im a Drake groupie now cos i feel his hook was in sync?
I even said i take D.Julien over him and J.cole

I tot so too, but when i followed the kick instead of the synthy sound, t'was intact.
Just try and steady bop your head~~not to all d accopms,
but the main sound n kick u'l see it sits nicely wit d hook.
I'm following his words and not the beats. . . he forces some parts and then slows down in others.
That's obvious.

Yea normal~~ a safe defination for regular, ordinary~~ and that's d problem.

so u'v succeded in sayin nothin tangible.
But if we go by urs, which i think is a sensible move, then again
M9 didnt refuse to do a collabo wit M.i.
Rmemba they were s'pose to do a mixtape, plus M.i was spose to ft in DVM.
He was out of town and when he came back he called M9 thta he's ready to spaz
but the album was alredi a rap! So u cldnt be refrein to M.i ~~again.
That's your story . . .

Besides that explains the 'our relationship is tennis, love means nothing'
M9 is saying they're not actually beefing. . . who else is 'baby boy'??

Everyone knows he like to throw subliminals at people. . . just to show he can do it.

DBR:
Whats d beef wit SK? M9 doesnt hav beef wit SK, but SK does, and it's obvious.
The rumour's been on, and when they met M9 chatted wit SK and even asked if they'r cool
To which SK said lied and said yea, they got no ishhh btw 'em. But we kno how he's been
takin jabs at M9 afterwards.

Guess SK's loyalty or affiliation to Ghetto P.u.ssy is the reason he's beefin M9.

oNe
Hehehe . . . Saucekid could be an ignoramus sometimes.
Like the beef with Kanye, that's like Modenine beefing Ofokasibe grin grin

But I hope Saucekid replies . . . so his career can end before it begins. grin grin

@topic
Nas' I Am was crazy . . . a mash up of most of Nas' hits. . . The World is Mine, Halftime, It Ain't Hard To Tell, If I Ruled The World. . .
That was telling us where the album was going.

chamotex:
Eldee, that intro was fire . . . . . . it coulda been a single on its own. And the beat?

My fav lines on it . . . .

I crawled up out of that grave, wiping the dirt, cleaning my shirt
They thought I'll make another "Illmatic"

You know what the whole fking line in the song was dope. grin grin grin
Fiyahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! What happened to the 'Stillmatic & Illmatic' Nas? cry cry

Lemme go listen to that track again . . . . it's been a while
That's what I loved about Nas . . . he always gave you a perfectly descriptive verse at the beginning of each album.
Did you like Doorags, intro to The Lost Tapes??

I don't know what went wrong with Nas, you just keep listening and you feel that he's not the same person.

bouzymill:
Seriously, "Bone Crusher - Attenshun" made my number 1.

"We've been doing this for so long, bleep the intro poo, Start the music"

Simple and basic, that is artistic.
That's dope.

Honestly i see heard nuthin wrong wit the hook!
Me think it balances the quick pace and the high pitch of the verses.
This dont classify as weak or "draggy" or forced to me, t'was onbeat.
Well maybe cos i listen wit ma heart.

oNe
I usually find it hard to describe sound.
But the part where he goes, 'I know way tooo many people . . . ' even went against the 'Oh yeah I'm doing me'
The pace kept fluctuating through the hook and disrupts the pace of the song . . . I think he shoulda got Weezy to do the hook.

Hehehe . . . I listen with me ears. grin grin
You know that part of your body that normal people use to listen to music. grin grin

Ma guess is eKillz, is it as good as urs?? grin grin
U just like insinuation, if u truly kno, say it and prove it.

oNe
Hehehe . . . we all know who this person is.
He's the best rapper Modenine has refused to do a collabo with.
Your guess is as good as mine.

And what's the beef with Saucekid sef?? He gave verse one to Rugged, verse two to the rapper whose name shall not be mentioned and verse three to Saucekid
