Pataki:It's shocking, how can an learned person say this . . .'What about the over a billion dollars these companies have already been caused to pay to build the communities and schools?'. It's like saying . . . 'Because Warren Buffet creates jobs in America, he should go scot-free if he's charged with tax-evasion'. |
Pataki:I mentioned this and someone said I was being 'naive'. |
@Kobojunkie Could you please stop editing your posts . . . if you have sumn new to say, use a new post. It's hard for me to keep going back to see if you've decided to say sumn I agree with. Mobinga:I don't know if they'll stop entirely . . . but one thing I'm sure of is that we won't know if we don't try. You don't scrap the police because there'll always be criminals do you?? |
Kobojunkie:Naiive is 'nationalise the oil companies' . . . logical is, 'you cannot do without them, but at least deter them from continuing with this'. What . . . you think Microsoft does not contribute to Europe's economy?? Or you think companies that get fined in the UK don't contribute to their economy?? Now you come here with your 'I have a dream' speech of 'clear out the leaders, change their mentality overnight' and I'm here talking about how we should do sumn to caution them and you accuse me of naivety?? I guess I'm satisfied with being 'Nigerians'. |
ritchboy:Hehehe . . . you think Wenger has a 49-51 chance of beating Mourinho?? Especialy in a year they're joint top favourites to win the UCL?? You're high on agbo. ![]() |
Kobojunkie:Hehehe . . . isn't it funny that you guys use in word 'Nigerians' in a condescending manner? ![]() So because I joked about him being knighted, it takes away the point itself?? All I said was there is a need for us to collectively stand up against the Corps, uniting with our government to punish them. At least that's one problem we can solve on our own . . . we don't need all our leaders to be honest to do that. If we're going to have problems as a nation, the list we can ask for is for it to be self-inflicted . . . and not from sum company. |
Kobojunkie:1. Because the people who died are still Nigerians. 2. Because it is still part of our history, it's part of what affect every Nigerian today, and will still decide the opinions of Nigerians on issues. 3. Because a careful examination of those mistakes we made can serve as a reminder of how shedding blood is never the answer. |
I swear to God, Hassange needs to be knighted . . . all what you know and people reply with 'hearsay' gets out in the open. Two weeks ago, if anyone had come out to say the Multinationals had a grip on Nigeria, half of y'all would have said 'nah' . . . it's our government. Now it's proven that these guys are even stronger than the state itself. Come on, we have to do sumn about this . . . anything, even a huge fine, or mandatory injunction to build a thousand schools or sumn. It's not going to solve the problem, but we all know Nigeria needs to start with baby steps. |
Kobojunkie:Come on . . . leaking information is investigative journalism, it just depends on who's calling the score. In both cases, they were guarded pieces of info that he brought out in the open. Now I'm not arguing about the legality of what he did, I'm just saying the line you're trying so desperately to draw doesn't exist. Do you think the Iraqis won't give him an award for this if they owned Amnesty International? |
They told me I was withdrawing. Even my mom started texting "I love you" every 1hr ![]() Maybe it's because it's the first time I had to to deal with someone's death. I try not to remember anything, it's better that way.
Nice to see that you're even posting . . . baby steps ![]() Tried to add you on Facebook, can't find the 'Add as Friend' link on your profile. dayokanu:How old is Oyinda. . . don't tell me I've been flirting with a minor?? |
I went to the Allhiphop Forum and checked out the thread set up for him, even the AAs admitted that it was sad. So while we're here hating on them, they loved him too, probably as much as we did. Every single person on that page admitted that it was a stupid and evil thing to do. |
@Ibime 'I imagine his terror, when he noticed the guns drawn/ He must have asked for his life but they showed no mercy/' That was thought evoking. . . I didn't picture that side till you said it. We were talking bout the neighbours and everything, I completely forgot the fact that he might have seen the killer pull out the gun. The fact that one second he was begging for his life and the next second 21 years of memories was flashing before his eyes . . . Life's scary man. |
With the way I've been living, I'm not sure if I'd make heaven if it exists. . . but if I ever go to hell, the presence of these 'christians' over there will give me at least one tiny little thing to laugh about, because it's so obvious that most Christians won't make heaven, even Jesus said it. |
I think the reason for me reflecting on this thread is borne out of the fact it could easily have been me. Looking at what people have said about him on this thread . . .replace Chicago Tribune with London Metro, replace Engineering with Law, replace Religion with Music, replace Derrick Rose with Kanye West it could easily have been me. We're in the same age group, both spend ages on the net, I've had arguments with many people bout abortion and homophobia . . . Spikey was talking about how he said 'legally' when told he'll finally be able to drink in the US, I've used that same reply many times. People talk bout him been witty and intelligent and funny . . . and they mean it, his dad talked about him being a smart boy, and he meant it, the fact that he was more than a statistic to this many people, that even people that never met him were touched. So this is more of me thinking of how truly loved he was by most people he met, how I ought to live life in a way that people don't have to lie when they say good things about me if/when I'm gone. |
Someone suggested that we change our signature to a uniform one just to put forward a united front for Bawolomo. He was one of us and it could be our own way of showing a sign of respect, especially for those that were close to him. Could you please change you signature to ''A True Gunner, A Good Man . . . .R.I.P Bawolomo'' if you don't mind. Thanks. |

Come on people . . . someone we knew just died, shouldn't we at least put our disagreements aside. At least just to act up for the parents and family of Bawo who'll definitely stumble upon the biggest Nigerian website's story on their son. It's not fair on him, he's not just another statistic to be argued about, it's different. We can argue on any other thread on Nairaland, this is different . . . please. I don't even know him enough to claim that your actions hurt, but I do know it's disrespectful. |
tkb417:Did you hear about Bawolomo?? |
@Elrazur I see where you're coming from . . . it was little or no info at the beginning of the thread. It always happens like that when you here a story concerning someone's death . . . you demand more and more clarification. . . 'it's a lie' and stuff like that. You were closer to him than I was, so acceptance was harder for you, but u know Spikey and Mukina are obviously extremely emotional right now. |
@Spikey Thanks for posting his FB despite the fact that you don't need to prove to anyone that he's the one, I've seen the pic on Faceboook and the one on the paper . . .I think it's him. Now Kobojunkie and El Razur are reacting in a way that's accepted, it's denial . . . a fight with her will only make things worse. davidylan:It's not in you place to decide if they're shedding crocodile tears or not. You do it your way and let him/her do it his way . . . if 'bawling' will make anyone okay, then it's their choice. Why don't you respect the fact that we just heard of someone's death and leave the job of telling people what's right to conscience and common sense. |
R.I.P Man . . . It's weird cus I was thinking bout what would happen if I somehow died and the news got to NL, he's remembered as the guy who had logical arguments on every thing he chose to debate, as the guy that made jokes out of everything and an unbelievably intelligent person . . he'll be missed, definitely. |
So who's giving me Vector's album?? |
bjmighty:More love to them than those that pull all the publicity stunt in the world and can't stilll sell an album. And no love for the haters that spend their whole life beefing someone who's career only lasts 5-10 years. |
Firebomb:Exactly . . . if you don't know what I was referring to then don't quote me or refer to me. I'm not meaning to be rude but I don't like having to read off what I could easily find on Wikipedia when it doesn't answer my question. . . you get me?? |
@Firebomb I'm sorry but I don't get how this explains why one of the biggest songs of the year didn't get a nomination?? |
da student:It's a slow movie though. . . if you want start to end drama, go for sumn else. |
No K'naan?? How big does a song have to be to be nominated for Song of the Year?? |
Goodwill Hunting Nice movie. . . but they didn't tap into the fact that Will Hunting was eccentric. |
I don't understand why robbers in Hollywood are always the good guys, they only shoot when they really really need to, they always have a good cause, and they always fall in love, can we swap them for the Nigerian agberos?? Pretty please?? And seriously, if only it were that easy for underdogs to reach the final by wearing lucky shoes or wristbands. . . ![]() |
slimshay:As im don talk say im dey come back, nor be my job to end him misery?? One B.S is better than two abeg. |
BinghiNya:Gibbs is an England international . . . Darron Gibson is Song, Nasri and Fabregas' age-mate . . . Wilshere is making the England team, Gibson gets more bench-time than Ferguson. Macheda is scoring life saving goals, Vela has World Cup caps. |
