I've had many dogs with very fond memories of Peggy, the vicious mongrel my mum trained, a real "b*tch" and very ferocious but she knew children and never harmed us. She used to dance when I sung to her while standing by her cage and she passed at about 7yrs of age. I also had Lucky, another brown mongrel who loved me so much and was very protective of me. She would stay at the inner gate watching for me and as soon as I was back from school (UNILAG) and I touched the outer gate she would come flying into my arms expecting me to cuddle her. I think she thought I was her property, lol! I also had a South African breed Simba, a thick male at the same time and I loved them dearly There was a large Hen we were given for one Christmas but we couldn't bring ourselves to eat her since there was excess food already so we kept her in the yard and funnily, she was best friends with the dogs even eating from their plates. "Caw-caw" as we used to call her was always punctual to the kitchen door every morning where you would find her waiting in between the two dogs, peeking through the glass, waiting for one of us to come down to the yard. She was already an old layer when we got her and still lived with us for over 3yrs before dying of old age. One day, after my mum had passed, I came back from school to find my aunt had let the dogs out on purpose and you know Calabar people now. It pained me so much and I really felt I'd failed them for a while but God knows best. I can't use words to adequately express how dear they were to me as I had some difficulties growing up and these animals were my best friends and extremely loyal. Another good example of how loyal animals are is when I went to serve in Suleja, Niger State. The apartment I was given was in a bushy govt. compound and I was unaware that there black mambas snakes visiting us regularly. However, my neighbours cat decded to take up house with me for the year. Traditionally, i was wary of cats and my people believe that they are either witches manifesting in the physical or possessed but I fell in love with this one. I never knew that God was sending me a guardian angel. Because of that cat, I NEVER got a snake in my apartment. I was really sad I couldn't bring it back to Lagos with me after NYSC. I was just blessed with the cutest American Eskimo puppy last week and have decided to call him White Wolf. He's really smart with a mind of his own so I'm spending time playing the Alpha dog with him and he's improved so much already. I heard they usually average 15yrs or more but I'm praying he'll do 20yrs or more. @Mykejones, your dog isn't being stubborn. He just needs a strong trainer to show him who is the boss and he'll be the best behaved creature you've ever seen. |
When my sister left a couple of months ago, they were literally begging her money at every stop but no one harassed her. What happened to your brother is terrible. you should get the immigration officer name online here and also report him to his boss. Threaten to sue too so they will bear some expenses for the inconveniences he's caused you. |
Try Rwandair. they are currently having a promo LOS-JHB-LOS from $320. |

I'm equally in a similar dilemma with Gaggi. Mine is not exactly that I'm tired of going to church as I enjoy worship and hearing the word of God but I'm at a point where I'm not sure where to worship since there is so much hypocrisy in Nigerian Churches. I was also raised Catholic and though I know there is no actual idol worship in the church, I'm conflicted by some of their doctrines which I don't personally agree with. I know it's good to fellowship but where? I need everyone's prayers as I've been asking God to direct me to the proper place He wants me to be of best use to him. |
I agree with Ekiti1. I've worked in the healthcare industry on various levels and though the scourge is very real, we can't trust the data because it is our own people who sabotage the data to ensure continued donor funding from international bodies. It's really a syndicate out there. |
We must remember that this psalm was written at the time when we were under the Law, a time of retribution and an eye for an eye. Though God says vengeance is his, He does so with mercy and love and tells us in the Lord's prayer to forgive those who trespass against us. The Christian should be more focused on forgiveness than vengeance since God has shown us ultimate forgiveness. |

You should know that it's not only rich men who fear marriage but rich women too. Some of us are afraid of men who will either try to sponge off us or will be intimidated by our success and achievements. There's also the relatives who might not understand that we're the breadwinners or are comfortable in our own right and often just see us as preventing them from gaining access to their brother's or son's wealth. All that said and done, it's a risk that far outweighs the negatives since marriage is for companionship and an institution establish by god for man's true prosperity. |
@ denzel2009 and ZIM DRILL Thanks. I'll try out your suggestions |

I personally do not believe in punishment that is not corrective in nature. Obviously, there were disgruntled adults who fed his convictions that the convoy was bad but "attempted murder for a 13 yr old over pure water"? Please, I beg. I maintain my stand. The charges are too harsh and if our human rights activists in this country were really sincere, this case should have had much more publicity. Correction will help this boy, not blind punishment. Have you been inside a Nigerian prison before? Even the remand homes are not to write home about but would still be better. It is unimaginable what that child is currently going through and I don't know what his parents and relatives, if he has any, are doing that would prevent them from crying out. If this boy is convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in jail. God help him! |
You are talking as if you never misbehaved when you were younger. I'm sure your parents didn't even lock you up in a jail cell much more a prison. It's an adult prison where he may be subjected to all kinds of abuse. How is that going to correct him? There are juvenile deliquency centers and remand homes for boy of his age. The law does not only favor the rich and famous in society. We have rich mens sons who instead of being prosecuted in this country are quietly whisked away to enjoy a life of luxury abroad and here a child is being abused for stoning "pure water". It is too bad. |
Abeg, won't someone comment on this atrocity? Why should a young boy who is at most misguided at that age be left in a Nigerian prison with all it's inhuman conditions just for stoning pure water? Since when did pure water start killing people? I beg, they had better release that child quickly before the wrath of God begins to deal with them. It is something for Obasanjo and Ohakim to ponder that they are so unpopular, Nigerian children even hate them! |
Please I'd also appreciate a copy too. marybng@yahoo.com. Thank you. |
My dear sister, I not only sympathize but I have gone throught the same myself. PLEASE I beg you in the name of God, GET OUT of this relationship. It is not going anywhere because he does not value you at all. You deserve to be happy but it will only come when you take the concrete decision to make yourself happy. It is better to be single and suffering rom poverty than to be alive and enslaved to someone who may give yo gifts and will end up killing you. You have an excellent future ahead of you. Don't wait till he disfigures you or leaves you mentally challenged before taking action. You said he comes back begging. I assure you that that is a usual tactic for people like that. They are just bullies and love to have people they can intimidate around them and they can be very charming when they are not acting crazy. It's all a front. I will say a prayer for you. God bles and protect you. |
Hi. Please send details to marybng@yahoo.com. Thanks. |
She's really fabulous and what I love about her most that really makes her beautiful is that she looks like she's really enjoying life. I'd never expect less from a true blood Bollywood princess! |
