I am not in support but as you said it would probably suit the widowed or divorced since they have been there and all they need is companionship not children plus many other things that come with fresh marriage. But to curb prostitution? that is infact encouraging it indirectly.
Those laws like honourable and mercy killings are not ideal because its the same men Being Intimate with unmarried women that go ahead to make them.
It therefore beats the purpose.
Can you pic a woman getting married and divorced under such laws with the aim of making money? Am sure there are statutes in that very same law which prohibit that.Statues that touch on kids that come as a result of such and conditions to abide with if one's aim is reap off the other person.
So its just one shallow arrangement.
What they need to do is be lenient on women who engage in prematial sex. Not create laws to allow the very same act they so detest to happen.
Well said, I concur.

I think it's the idea of having carnal knowledge outside the perimeters of marriage that is haunting them.

P.S I would be interested in hearing from those who may be in support of this settlement however.

Whenever a society wants to justify evil, they create laws to protect them and make them feel less guilt.

Marriage is a world so I am wondering if while entering into such a temp relatn. that could as well last 1 hr (depending on the measure of your lust )
you ever think about having kids, property, family u know creating wealth cz some things do well in a stable relatnship.
This kind of arrangement does not qualify to be called marriage because marriage is not just Being Intimate with your legally wedded partner.
This is simply avoiding judgement from society. A means of escape so ther'es no point watering down a noble institution.
For the most part I agree and I did also wonder how such marriages will be affected if children happened to be involved.

I do agree that it is some kind of way to escape judgment - at least to not break the code of premarital sex in such society but I believe it's primary aim is to curb prostitution by setting these perimeters (which I don't agree with because as you said such union cannot even be considered as "marriage"wink

I think that they are trying to eliminate a vice in their society but I believe they are employing another vice to curb the former. . . and I just feel as if its compromising such a society's morals.

There are other reasons too (not strong ones mind you). In circumstances where the man is not well off, temporary marriages offer him some kind of reprieve whereby he would be able to afford a "wife" for a while and since the union isn't a permanent one the price for the "bride" (which by the way is paid directly to the woman) is considerably less. . . hmm that makes me wonder about money-hungry woman who could possibly employ this method just to acquire capital. In addition a man can still marry more than one "wife" through this kind of marriage.

And then there are the female widowers and divorcees involved in such . . . I don't really understand the purpose why some of them choose to employ this method . . .perhaps there is a stigma attached to these women which may not make them marriageable or ideal for long term suitors or maybe they're just longing for companionship which under their society's laws can only be obtained via marriage.

P.S. Not everybody in those mentioned countries are involved or even for this kind of "marriages" . . .in fact there are those who look down on it. I was initially intrigued by the main purpose of such a union - that is trying to to curb prostitution.

"Temporary marriage is, basically, a contractual deal between a man and a woman who decide to be married for an agreed period of time varying from one hour to 99 years. This custom is practiced among the Shiites of Iran and Iraq, although not a part of Quranic teachings. . . .

In a temporary marriage contract, no registration or witness is required. As per the proponents of this arrangement, it is considered as a means of curbing free sex and control prostitution. . . . ."

(if you want to read more visit here: http://www.interestingfacts.org/fact/temporary-marriage-in-iran)

***

Aside from wondering how such unions has had an impact on trying to curb the prostitute world (in Iran), I do think it makes conditions safer for such women at least . . . but does marrying a prostitute automatically make her an "honorable woman" and cancels out the selling in the sex she will provide her "husband"?

I do wonder what other functions temporary marriage could serve . . i.e will such arrangement be conducive in the western world where divorce is high - I mean after all there is an agreed expiry date to such a union.

***

I remember seeing a documentary once about transgender prostitutes from a particular country - I can't seem to recall their nation.
In order for these "women" to make an income they would offer sex for sale however before they can offer their client sex they have to marry them (so that they won't have sex outside the perimeters of marriage thereby making it legal). After they have completed their mission they divorce and the process continues.

hmmm I guess temporary marriage could be viewed as a loophole, perhaps even a "no strings attached" deal undecided

How easy is body language to detect and relay?

I used to suspect that some people who misread signals just imagine what they want or indeed they are being misled.

[Q]. . .Are the signals we relay affected by the exhibitionist i.e. is body language more difficult to read from a person reserved in nature?

[Q]. . .or is there a sub-concious minor emotion that we still relay that is being read/received over our dominant feelings?

i.e. I was in a dialogue with a particular man. I also happen to be reserved in nature. As our conversation had graduated from a PG rating into sordid territory I felt uncomfortable and I believed such feelings was apparent in my body language . . instead he mistook my serious discomfort for wild lust huh . . . well since he was American maybe they interpret certain gestures differently undecided

Well maybe he's better of seeking a sperm donor as well . .jk . . tongue

On a serious note he was in an agreement and 15 years is quite a significant amount of time. He may have had a stronger case if they were babies to toddlers as during those early years he could have seriously reconsidered his choice although of course he would still be challenged. . . but to demand for them now at this time more so because he can't bare anymore children of his own

hmmm children are not parcels and to me those children are a mere plan B for him to have a child . . . and how can he take those children from a family unit? at 15 as well. . . . did he consider them as his own children for 15 years? because anyone that agrees to donate their sperm have already depreciated their role as a father . . .

There is an ever increasing number of those who succumb to plastic surgery (both women and men) . . . as many desire to have the perfect portrait sculpted . . .

[Q]. . .but what then happens when they father or mother a child that carries the very features they strived to flee from?

I wonder how they can confess to the beauty of their child when they carry certain elements that they themselves sought to erase I also wonder if it slightly bothers them that their child inherited those particular features. . .

[Q]. . .and what effect would such have on the child knowing that they carry a particular feature that was undesired by their parent?

P.S. I'm just thinking out loud.

To the best of my knowledge, a lady who hasn't had her hymen broken by the rigours of penetrative s-ex IS a virgin. It doesn't matter if she has performed other non-v/aginal s-ex acts, the v-aginal hymen remains the only objective and scientific key for unlocking virginity. Virginity is NOT mental, it's purely physical; let's not bring confusion into a perfectly clear and straightforward topic.
Hey there, haven't seen you in a while . . .

. . .anyway let me just clarify because I believe you are referring to my comment in your statement. When I mentioned mental I meant when the subject occupies the mind as such is premeditated.

virgin is purity not only in composition but in disposition as well. . .

. . .however by your scientific definition that would mean some lesbians are forever virginal beings.

RomanceRe: What Makes "You Are A Virgin" by emofine(f): 11:51am On Sep 23, 2011
She's not a virgin.

In the original term virgin refers to a person who has no knowledge of sexual relations whether that pertains to physical manifestation or mere conversation.

She is not wholly innocent, your virginity cannot be compromised. She committed acts and although maybe not penetrative or vaginal sex she participated in sexual activities.

It's not purely a physical thing, it's mental as well because whether she had kept to herself but harbored thoughts pertaining to sex then she still wouldn't be categorized as a virgin.

Lastly there is a difference between one who is celibate and one who is a virgin.

However that is just my opinion.
