David Moyes: "I've been really impressed by the attitude of this set of players. They've been total professionals. It's a really tough start (to the season) but you have to play everyone twice, but I've never seen a Manchester United side get a tougher start to a season. I told the players that I was surprised that Sir Alex was retiring but I told them he wanted me to take the job." David Moyes: "He [Sir Alex Ferguson] said you've got a very big player there [in Wayne Rooney], who has made a big impact in games but all the things he said about the squad were positive." David Moyes: "Success is tattooed right across the badge of this club. My job is to continue that. This club is about winning trophies. I'm driven to try and succeed, I'm determined to get the first one on the board. "They had a great season in the Premier League last season - Manchester United. We will do everything we can to add to it. They've always gone after the best players. I'm looking forward to being given that challenge." David Moyes: "I know what I've got and I know the job in hand but I am sure when Sir Alex Ferguson took over he knew the job in hand too. But he has left me a squad that is capable of winning the Premier League title." David Moyes: "I will never speak about players at other clubs. I think it's wrong. But this club is always interested in the best players." Nemanja Vidic: "Players are going to increase their work. David has worked in the Premier League and he knows the players but the players still have something to prove to him. You're playing for Manchester United and there is always pressure on the players and we have to work hard and help the manager achieve what he wants." David Moyes: "I'll be new to a lot of supporters. This a new era but Sir Alex Ferguson will never go away. He'll always be here - you can see his statue, you can see his stand, and he's certainly someone I'll go to. Hopefully, the supporters will realise it was his time to finish and time for someone else." David Moyes: "I'm really happy to see Jose [Mourinho] back in the Premier League. For the first time there has been a big shake-up in the Premier League and I'm looking forward to being involved in it." David Moyes on Premier League rivals: "There will be improvement from all the clubs. I'm pleased to see Jose (Mourinho) back. He's been very successful and he's someone everyone will enjoy having back in the Premier League. I've come across (Manuel) Pellegrini a couple of times at Villarreal and Malaga. It's the first time there's been a real shake-up and it will be new to a lot of clubs. There's a lot of things unknown about how things will pan out. "Finally, Bill Kenwright has been fantastic over my time at Everton. They've got a very good team and players. All I can say is 'thanks', they've been very good to me." |
David Moyes: "I do not know what those two gentleman said - Sir Alex Ferguson and Wayne Rooney. That conversation was private and as far as I am concerned I am looking forward to working with Wayne. I can categorically tell you that Wayne Rooney has trained fantastically well since I've been here. Wayne won't be sold by Manchester United." Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic: "When the gaffer decided to retire, I was surprised. The players had respect for the manager at Everton and we are looking forward to working with him. The players are training well and they are excited about working with him." David Moyes: "I hope Sir Alex Ferguson is sitting in the directors' box. He's been so good. I've already called him for advice a couple of times on a couple of matters. I asked coach Rene (Meulensteen) to stay but he felt it was fair on me to go it alone. (Sir Alex) is not there to pressure me. The Glazers have been great since I got here and so has the new chief executive Edward Woodward." David Moyes on Europe: "I'm inexperienced in a lot of those things and they could have brought someone in who was more experienced, but the biggest confidence I got was Sir Alex saying to me 'You're the next Manchester United manager'." David Moyes: "I spoke with Paul Scholes as well, he felt he wanted to have some time off with his family. I felt the right person was Ryan Giggs and he has been great. He has been on his Uefa pro licence course, he is taking steps forward and to get him and Phil Neville together is great." |
DAVID MOYES'S NEWS CONFERENCE David Moyes: "I feel incredibly privileged that I was given the opportunity. I was grateful to Sir Alex and the board for making that happen. I knew nothing about the job until Sir Alex gave me the call and asked me and the first thing he said was he was retiring and then he said, 'You're the next manager', and that was enough. I was shocked." David Moyes: "All I can do is do what David Moyes has done before. I'll continue the traditions of the club. I am very fortunate that I am taking over the champions of England and I do hope that I can do a great job here in time." More from David Moyes on Wayne Rooney: "Wayne Rooney will not be sold by Manchester United. We have spoken several times and what has happened before has gone now. "We are working together now. I have seen a bit of a glint in his eye. He looks very happy and looks as if he's going to knuckle down." David Moyes says Wayne Rooney is not for sale. "He's a Manchester United player and will remain a Manchester United player," he says. "I have known Wayne since he was 16, when he was at Everton. It is a little bit of deja vu. He is training really well, he is coming back in good shape and I am looking forward to working with him." |
Jarus: The question is: which sector is young and has fertile potential in Nigeria now that one can easily plug into?IT comes to mind. The other is the power sector. . . . .but who has the billion dollar might to play there? |
Jarus: The banking sector appears locked now, I agree. After my M.Sc, when job search was a pain in the neck, i had thought i could do well as a business person. Ideas flowed in. I actually gave some action to a couple. By the time i was harassed over some regulatory registrations, omo, i feel back in line, dusted my interview skills and went back to job search. There is one truth and nothing but the truth; if you are not thick skinned and can close your eyes and ears to suffer head, hit the road, you will make it. The idea is to see how much you can make side by side your job. If it's encouraging, then give it reins. Else, sit back there and walk up the ladder. All things being equal, you will be an MD ssomeday and the hassles of starting up something would have been borne by someone else ![]() |
Jarus: At 31, some folks are seeing me 'star' giving the little one has done. The guy you quoted above was correct but i am not sure if i will give a tightened noose as a reason why it isn't possible these days. It is left for us to decode a sector that could be as big as the banking sector to be able to make such cool age achievement. The power sector seems like it, but abeg who get that kind capital? ![]() Kudos to them! |
Jarus: Leaving at 46 after 11.5 years as MDJust the same thing going through my mind. Some sure do have it. . . .. . . luck and the brains |

Victoriousvic: I would advice you to go for the highlander. In terms of maintenance, durability and size, it surpasses the lexus.Na wa for some kind opinions oo. ![]() The last time i checked, the only difference between these two cars was body design. Cos from engine to transmission to wiring etc. go the same way for both cars. |
Omo, see action. . . . . miracle working God Prof Spyder, what's this foundation called? I am not sure this is what we know as raft? #Progress |
I have never paid sales tax on any purchase. Maybe because i have always rented a licence to be able to buy. As per which is better between IAA and Copart; i can't say. Like Bellong, i use both and it is dependent on where i get a good deal. Cars on Copart are cleared to view in terms of picture quality than IAA but IAA gives you more details in terms of situation. Whichever way, i ensure i do my due diligence before i bid. I also prefer to buy cars with Insurance companies as seller than private individuals. All in all, i have been on this business for about 4 years now and i am still learning |
. . . . . . .all we are saying, give us more pix!!! |

milkymesh: I am currently shopping online for a good salvage car to buy from the US. However, I am sort of apprehensive about it. Anyone who has an experience should please share it here with me.OP, i hope the highlighted is just an illustration? Cos i don't ever see the possibility of that. Or do you want to say $7000 i.e seven thousand dollars and mistakenly missed out one zero. The cost of clearing crashed cars is the same as uncrashed cars. I don't know what in particular you are searching for, but i am here to assist. I have been buying from Copart and IAA since 2009 and i can say i have very good knowledge of the workings of the auction and much more. So feel free to contact me. @bizzy, I am really really surprised this is your first experience at salvage auctions? For a dealer of your repute, your network i thought should be wider that you initially had. All the same, welcome to the club. I will be contributing to your thread in due course. Let me put my notes together |
Siena: ^^^ Emperoh, your email address was incorrect, as my email was returned immediately I sent it.Sorry bro, see my signature or send to chinedu.anarado@gmail.com any of the two will suffice |
Lol. I do not think you'd meet any less occasional challenges with the C240 or BMW. I daresay you might meet even more challenges with the Merc.-build quality for the W203 (if that's the model you want) was not exactly at its best. You can ask Trac or look at the Merc thread here. My own candid advice; avoid ANY turbocharged engine.... Even if na Toyota sef... Except you have a verified good mechanic.
Well said. . . . . . . . . it still boils down to getting a good mech whichever it is. I really dread experiencing a hair-shaving, problematic unit. But i trust that with the power if the internet, things can be a little bit simplified. |
Thanks for the encouragement. Truth is that some Audi B6s are better left alone-at least in Nigeria. This includes the 1.8T. Apart from the fact that Turbo Engines are dreaded by a lot of Nigerian mechs, The 1.8 T came with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission)instead of the regular automatic transmission. A double no-no for the car in my opinion. I am based in Uyo and am willing to detail costs (if you're interested)-the costs are surprisingly not too high considering the quality of items you're getting. Just that transfer charges and shipping costs can add up to quite a bit if you get carried away... ;-) As regards likely issues for the 3.0 Quattro (My model), Can't really think of anything that can go wrong again (apart from very unlikely automatic transmission issues)-since I'll be replacing the timing belt, water pump, serpentine (fan) belt, Automatic transmission fluid and filter, Radiator + condenser etc with brand new units from Audi through Siena.
You have sent me scampering back to the safety of where i was coming from. In essence, i do better stick to my 325i or C240. . . . I am not given to plenty auto head aches due to my kind of work hence, need something that will give me the necessary power push and at the same time, durability. Now, going by the above (per the reasons given), it is better to do the 3.0 liter quattro than the 1.8 liter turbo-charged? Also, are there issues that covers the two models? Cos sincerely, i do love to do this Audi but i need to sure i won't get into wahala after i must have done the right stuff. How would you compare it to the 3 series E46 and the C class of same period? On the power steering fluid, i think the previous owner used the red fluid we commonly find here. Cos if it was the normal green fluid, it would turn black or some of a dark shade. My thoughts though. I would love Siena's input here as well. |
Jesus!!! Where have i been? So much for being off Car talk for a while! I dare not miss this again. T-Die, i followed you Peugeot Enugu - Akwa-ibom trip and i must say it was exciting But this thread is taking things to a higher level. . . . . . . .kudos. I am really keen at this project for 2 reasons I have always loved this spec of Audi A4 02-05 and i dream owning one. But it dealt with a friend who had a 1.8 Liter turbocharged engine. Hence, it was with glee i latched on to see what you are doing here and will ask him to come on here. What his issues did was discourage me on the durability of this car and how it is issue prone. Hence, with your advice, maybe i will discard the 325i i am making plans to buy and switch back my love for this. Secondly, you work will validate my belief that Audis are better cars to Benz. This assertion will end in a long debate. However, i have some questions; What City are you in? I guess PH Will u be sharing the full cost incurred and a likely idea of what basic parts on this unit costs? What likely issues should one expect for a car like this? On another side, can i kindly make a request. This is in line with the need to patronize more equipped and knowledgeable mechanics. Depending on what City you are based in, can i suggest that we give names and contact details of mechanics workshops where one can get a full auto service just like the one T-die is using? We are not talking of road side mechanics here and i am not also looking to see the contact of Stallion or Kia Motors here or anything of sorts. If you live in lagos, abuja, ph, enugu, kano etc. These will help others assess these services while using the knowledge we gain as a launch pad. Tdie, kudos and keep it up.
