What most people don't know about the U.S or abroad in general is that it can either be a dream or a nightmare. I have never seen a hardworking, smart and intelligent Nigerian fail to make it here, yes it will be difficult, yes it can be rough but most people end up being in a better state than they were when they left 9ja. Now back to the topic, many Nigerians here are forced to forget partially or completely about Nigeria due to the number of hours you have to spend at work, raising a family and so on. An average trip to Nigeria will cost you at least $3000 to $5000 dollars when you count ticket, hotel and other costs. Most Nigerians can't save that much in a year, in fact most Americans can't save that in a year. The real Nigerians suffering here are the illegal immigrants, they can't work a decent job, they can't leave the country and are constantly watching their backs. Hopefully with the emergence of a new Nigeria under GMB, many of the illegal immigrants can come back to 9ja and make something of their lives!

You maybe right but then, the power for any constitution amendment or review lies on the National and state assemblies not really on the President. However, in the case of our country, North will never support restructuring or true federalism because they believe it will not favour them and, without their support you can't get the required two third number. Remember 2014 National Conference.

So what do you think we can do in your opinion? Really curious.

Thank you. But why is it difficult to change or amend all those areas even under Obasanjo?

Because we need

1. Four out of five of all houses in the country. This means at least 24 states' houses of assembly must support it. This is virtually impossible.

2. Two-thirds majority of the National assembly must also support it.

These two requirements are against the South that majorly suffers from the bad constitution,

Please lawyers in the house, what is really wrong with the constitution? Why should we discard the constitution?

For a start, the constitution has about 68 items on the exclusive list. These items are exclusive to states and only the president and federal government can decide on them.

An example is fishing on the high seas. It is illegal to go fish on the sea. Imagine that?

States can't generate and distribute their own electricity. e.t.c

Their are a lot of things in that barbaric constitution but we need to do more to enlighten our people.

Like Pa Adebanjo, like Pa Akintoye.

What is it with this old papas and their perceived hatred for Tinubu?

May God deliver us from crab mentality o.

Maybe because Tinubu used to be a disciple of the Sage Awo and subsequently abandoned Awo's principles when the sage was no longer around.

Prof Akintoye was the youngest member of Awolowo's cabinet, and he was more like a son to Awolowo while pa Adebanjo also has a relationship with Awolowo. They feel betrayed by Tinubu's greed.

My first comment was borne out of the fact of what I have noticed in the recent times.

Without doubt, our country has become so deeply polarized by the words and actions of the political class.

In the 70s, 80s and 90s, even though we had different tribes and cultures, Nigerians remained one. It was on the basis of that fact, that the late Chief MKO Abiola won the election convincingly. He received votes from every part of the nation, as where he came from did not matter.

The new nation called Nigeria should be the estate of our great grandfather Othman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We must use the minorities in the North as willing tools and the South as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future”- Sir Ahmadu Bello, Premier of Northern Nigeria, 1961

A few months later Northerners started hunting down Igbo's. We were never one in the history of this country.

Abiola's case came at the back of a vicious military regime and it was either him or a relatively unknown person.

It does not take 70 years to form national identities. It did not take the Americans 70 years. They already knew what they wanted, fought the war of independence against the British; had a constitution; fought a civil war and became who we all know today.

Like I said earlier, America, Canada, Australia and a whole lot are settler's colonies. Do you want that in Nigeria?

A country must have one and only one majority. Nigeria has multiple majorities with different ideologies. Even the United States is trying to keep the power of the whites. Same thing with Germany. That's why Singapore separated from Malaysia.

Can one say he is not a Nigerian when he is from Nigeria? We can only ask ourselves if we are United as one country.

Now, I agree with you that we are going nowhere if certain burning issues affecting our nation, are not sorted out. We must ask if we are ready to proceed as one nation.

Nigeria is not a nation. Jut know this. At best it is a county of multiple nations. The first step to solving a problem is to accept reality. Their's nothing like our country.

A nation where 90% of the southerner's won't want to live in the North because of the North's civilization, and where alot of the Northerners wants to live in a sharia country.

Let us do Nigeria for another decade of. suffering. Maybe people will have sense to demand for a refferendum.

But the different European ethnic groups who could not stay together, peacefully went their separate ways.

Maybe you do not know that the indigenous people were not wiped out by the invaders/settlers in America, in the 17th century.

Nigeria was built on ethnic and religious lines also, but as it stands today, are the tribes in any form of agreement?

You just proved my point. Your original comment was

Some Nigerians, right in their own country, ask other Nigerians to vacate Lagos and relocate to their villages. These set of myopic Nigerians struggle to get visas to the UK and USA, in their efforts to become citizens of those countries. How can you ever get visas?

There's nothing like a Nigerian, at least not yet.

You guys forget that Nigeria is less than 70 years. National Identities are not formed in that short duration.

Nigeria is a clash of ethnic groups with different ambitions. We are going no where.

But the different European ethnic groups who could not stay together, peacefully went their separate ways.

Do. you see how you called them European ethnic nations and Nigeria tribe Denmark is less than the Ijaw people population and you will never call them a tribe. We should try to decolonise and detach from the coloniser's language.

Yeye people.

Oya wipe out the indigenous people like they did in America and then make Nigeria a settler colony so that it can be a free for all.

The UK and most of European countries are built on ethnic lines and so can afford that. Nigeria is a contraption of different civilizations.

I have more abandoned projects than completed ones grin Mostly because of trying to do something unrealistic for a single individual.

To your answer sure why not? Another approach is to plan your personal projects the same way your product manager and tech lead does. This will help you research more about the implementation before you write a single line of code which thereby the problem would've been solved before you jump into your IDE.

The country will never work that's just the plain truth.

Before una come from my head, everyone knows my tribe here.

The flesh has not shown this to you, as they say. grin grin

A country with about 3 (60) million major ethnic groups will find it hard to form a national identity unless they are ready to surrender their ideologies.

South is trying to westernize the North while the North is trying to Sharianize the south. grin grin

There's a popular political figure in Africa that postulates that the problem of Africa is that each country has multiple major ethnic groups, hence will never agree on the direction of the country and will always have ethnic census instead of elections.

The last part is so evident in the next coming 2023 elections. It won't be an election but an ethnic census.

As far back as 1914, majority of the world's nations have been colonized. Most of the countries we run to in Europe and North America (Canada, U.S., Etc.) have colonial history. So??

She offended your forefathers? So what?? Didn't your ancestors unfairly maim and slay people within the Nigerian colony as well? Abi they did not kill "witches" and twins in Aba based on their limited knowledge at that time?

War and resource/economic dominance were the major policy instrument of those days so if your forefathers were beaten at their own game, that is absolutely nothing to cry over. That era is dead and it's forever dead.

Our gold was stolen by the Queen, who then shipped it to the UK.

Our funds were stolen by our very own Abacha and transported to the UK.

Today, we are now putting in a lot of effort to move to the UK so we can slave (work 2-3 jobs) and pay taxes to the Queen Mother.

What I see is a tactless people who have chosen blame game and irresponsibility as their official currency.

I am sure what you replied to is this right?

The source of all problems in this contraption called Nigeria is the British.
