PoliticsRe: Governor God'swill Akpabio To Rename New Stadium After Himself. by Enoquin(f): 6:08pm On Nov 05, 2014
How is the move favorable from a socio economic perspective?
TheSonOfMark:

Looking at the move from a socioeconomic perspective, it sure seems favourable to the development of the state but critically analyzing it, from a political and/or moral point of view that is, it sure seems ill-timed and a politically-risky maneuver.
The polity of the state is already heated up by the all-important governorship (primary) election in the offing. The governor himself has powerful adversaries and the aforementioned infrastructural renaming would only alienate him (and his 'godson') further by these bigwigs who have publicly opined that he, the governor, is bent on establishing a dynasty and this renaming and several others , obviously, seems to buttress their point.

Added to the above: peradventure the incoming governor isn't favourably disposed to the incumbent, he would most definitely relegate the maintenance of the stadium and other renamed infrastructures since it's been named after his adversary. If the afore-described scenario plays out then a lot of such public infrastructures are bound to suffer from the neglect.

PoliticsRe: Governor God'swill Akpabio To Rename New Stadium After Himself. by Enoquin(f): 11:00am On Nov 05, 2014
While Akpabio has done something for Akwa ibom to the 'best of his ability', I think it would be going too far if he wants to re-name the stadium after himself except it is a 'in your face' taunt to the Ibibios especially the ones who haven't seen anything good in his administration.

I still feel he should rise above the pettiness though...history has his name as the governor who gave Akwa Ibom an international standard stadium.

TheSonOfMark:
RENAMING OF THE NEW AKWA IBOM STATE INTERNATIONAL STADIUM.

Reports reaching me ,and from investigations I have made, indicates that the new international stadium is to be named after the state governor as GOD'SWILL AKPABIO INTERNATIONAL STADIUM.
Now here's the thing: Do you think it's morally or politically okay if a sitting executive public office holder decides to name public infrastructures after him or herself?
Do you think it sets a negative precedent for successive governors ? Or
Do you think this singular move by the incumbent has the tendency to heat up the polity or not?

I've been having animated debates about this with some folks in my hood and their views thus far have been diverging.
So, ladies and gentlemen, what's your take on the aforementioned issue? Looking forward to interacting with you all.

CelebritiesBeyonce Highest Paid Woman In Music In 2014 With $115 Million: Forbes by Enoquin(op): 8:50am On Nov 05, 2014
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Beyonce is the highest paid woman in music in 2014, with estimated earnings of $115 million, more than double what she pulled in last year, Forbes magazine said on Tuesday.

The huge sum, most of which was from her world tour, propelled Beyonce, 33, from fourth place last year and put her firmly ahead of pop star Taylor Swift, 24, with $64 million, who jumped up one spot from last year to No. 2.

Pop singer Pink, 35, climbed up from No. 8 in 2013 to third with $52 million.

"Beyonce played 95 shows during our scoring period, bringing in an average of $2.4 million per city," said Forbes, citing data from the Pollstar trade magazine.

The R&B singer's self-titled album released last December and endorsement deals pushed her earnings up further assuring her the top spot.

Barbados-born Rihanna, 26, with $48 million and Katy Perry, 30, who earned an estimated $40 million, rounded out the top five on the annual list.

Madonna, 56, ranked No. 1 last year, failed to make the top 10 in 2014. Lady Gaga, 28, slumped from No. 2 in 2013 to ninth place this year with estimated earnings of $33 million.

Forbes compiled the list after estimating pre-tax income calculated for the 12 months from June 2013 to 2014 based on record sales, concert tickets, touring information merchandise sales and interviews with concert promoters, lawyers and managers.

It also looked at data from the Pollstar, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) and tracking firm Nielsen SoundScan.

Why would you think telliing your husband will sprout dispute? That statement is something I do not understand and I think you should tell your husband rather than assuming that will bring hostilities between you.
If you do not have the liver to tell your husband during this simple fact...use an indirect approach...yawn one day, assume the most tired of poses and say in the tiniest of voices "I am tired, I don't I can wash Emilie's clothes, I have packed them in the hamper by her bed; when you are settled please wash them...couldn't sleep throughout the night because of the baby"

Sad for the first set of deceased and the second deceased.
But I tell people that we are still a relatively good country with our lawlessness. What I mean is, this is the worst set of behaviour we are displaying without effective laws and efficient law implementation but have we stopped to think how 'lawless' america can get, once the laws and defined boundaries fall? No excuse for jungle justice though

The comment in bolded. I got a new sim card yesterday and when the desk agent saw 'reading' as my hobby. She and her co-worker snickered and derisively in our language said 'school girl'...it was sad because everyone associates reading with text books or newspapers.

Sometimes when I am late and have to get somewhere fast, I hate any stops...either to pick a passenger, drop one off, a little traffic, anything.
But when I am early, I appreciate any stop even if it is to let a chicken cross the road tongue
That's how much of a cycle life and events are.
What is the essence of what I just wrote? If you were sitting where the secretary was, you would want the air conditioner on, because then you would be feeling so hot and flustered that the protests of the person sitting directly under the air con won't matter.
Now, you are a just a few months old at work; not everyone would warm up to you instantly. Some would have to get to know you. Some would still not like you after getting to know you.
You cannot be rude to your boss in front of anyone. You can gauge the situation and decide what behaviour to exhibit when you meet him privately.

That being said, I love your descriptive ability joor. I like your wit, cynicism and humour. Of course, you'd make a good writer but not just now especially with a 'beautiful' hall to view over the weekend. smiley

At least you see a point of mine. She wants her blog to be recognised internationally, she had better be smarter in playing the game. Aye Dee has a good ideas for her blog, he suggested she used rotator ads...if given a 'seeming' reconciliation, he would give more. There was also a part where he said lindaikeji.net was hers. I didn't expect her to let the info slide by, I expected tough questions; this was a man filled with remorse, he would have answered her with that and lots more because he was aiming to please, which she would have used to her advantage for a long while. Which is why she shouldn't have published the conversation...whatever she hoped to achieve in publishing it would be short term but the benefits she would have gotten from not publishing would have been long term.
saints2:
You spoke my mind, Linda needs to be careful and speak less of herself, she makes millions from blogging and I expect her to incorporate her business by now. Alex was forced to do what He did because she ignored him. Thats the problem with success if not well checked, it gets to your head and make you arrogant.

I pray this event makes her stronger, wiser and more business minded, by the way, her new website is a trash, it takes enternity to load and the way she used adverts to decorate it is an eyesore. I will advice she takes the 'ROTATOR ADS' Alex told her to use to customise her adverts.

Loling is a sign of maturity? And you think it was the 'loling' that allowed the guy to confess and even offer her strategies? You are entitled to your opinion, so pardon me if I do not see 'the art' or 'strategy' in the lol.
If you took your business seriously and always seek for ways to be better, you won't throw a tantrum. Throwing a tantrum might be the basic instinct but your business instincts will surely kick in 'if' you took your business seriously...I hope you realise I am explaining a situation in this paragraph.
Lastly, the aim of my post was that she shouldn't have published that conversation. I rarely chastise people without giving solution(s) I have done that
peacettw:
@walex2bad and enoquin, are you guys for real? Jeez. I read the convo and saw all the lols and I knew where Linda was coming from cos if I were in her shoes I would have loled harder. How else was she meant to draw the man out to 'confess' if she didn't? Her replies were strategic and a work of art. I am not sure I would be that calm sef talking to my 'enemy' when confronted.

My God, it takes a higher level of maturity and in her case, wow... All I can say is just wow. I have new respect for her. She maintained her cool, she was polite. The man even ended up apologising and said somewhere along the line that he wanted to gauge her response first and seeing it to be stellar (I think she gets an A+, it really was beautiful), he is now willing to recant. Please, just imagine a scenario if she started out with insults... Enough said.

Linda, you have my respect.. Like someone said earlier.. You have all taught us something new.. For me, it is to learn to be calm during the storms. Take care

Followed the first news half way but got all the vital info.
I am happy she got a new website and has learnt some lessons BUT Linda needs to attend Management courses. She needs to keep trying to be a better business woman by getting her skills honed.

I went to the new website (takes long to upload) because I read here that she published the personal conversation between Aye Dee and herself.
Whoever told her to publish that conversation needs to have their head (s) checked and for agreeing to publish it and doing that, Linda has shown that she really needs to grow.

Mr Aye Dee according to the info claimed not to be working alone but in cohorts with partners, claimed to have sent her emails regarding his (their) content which she used and due to her non reply was accused of bias and so decided to do what he did. Now, the problem seem to stem from the fact that she didn't reply his e-mails and he 'conveniently' forgot to use their regular channel to reach out.
That's enough to make any person not 'lol' as Linda appeared to be doing and 'you made me woman of the year' phrase that kept popping up.

This is where Linda should have focused even Aye Dee advised that. I see a lot a calculative person would have done with such info but definitely not publishing the conversation.
Politics abound everywhere; church, school, work, family, business etc. That personal conversation should have been used 'privately' to her advantage.
She also lacks 'emotional intelligence' as can be seen from the conversation.

Linda, please try and get several writers not just one.
Try and get a lawyer and a publicist, stop getting business decisions from friends and family members because they will always think with emotions. Get a P.A to answer mails, so that important mails don't pass you by.
I read on one thread that she encourages her readers with freebies, she should extend that to freelance writers and photographers.
Please, continue trying to hone your business skill. There are online courses, take them; if you cannot attend class physically. You will be better for it.

EducationRe: Why Children Hate Schools In Nigeria (+PICTURES) by Enoquin(f):
The Parents/Guardians
Because we live in a certificate environment, parents and guardians deploy almost any means to see their children come tops.
Who pays for the special/miracle centres? Who pays for a name slot on the admission list? when parents start that do or quench attitude, there will be no improvement on the child's foundation.
During my PGD, there were students who couldn't spell simple words, those who didn't bother reading because they knew how they would get themselves sorted in the end; those that took in materials during exams...all these point to the foundation.

Also, parents have to show interest in their child's school work. I also agree that schools could do more using Learning Aids but some of these 'private' mushroom schools who have business (wo)men as proprietors/owners have to make their ventures 'successful' by whatever means even if it means all the children passing their exams all the times till the graduate.
This of course is to keep the parents happy.
