kevin25: My neigbor got married to a woman that is financially and academically ahead of him yes they started with love at initial stage she did everything possible to make sure the man suceed i mean everything she sacrify evrytn kudos to her, but the problem now is how the woman talks to the husband with no atom of respect she goes around telling people what she has done for the man to the extent her friends no longer see the man as anything .. The one that pains me was the day she told the man to go and dish out food for himself even in my presence, wen the man try to force her my dear come see insult from how she feed him to how she made him who he is,just because the man ask her to go and bring his food even dou the man is working now but stil the woman stil look down on him.. The worst she stil call the man by his name . The man is talking about bringing another woman that wil respect him as The man of the house.. This is a big lesson without money i dnt think you can control a nigerian woman . Op wait! Wait. Just wait, okay? The younger, timid and lowlife women are the ones to beware of. It pains a man more, even to the marrows and to a man's soul that he brought out a nobody as a wife, brushed her up and made her somebody, then she disrespects him. This case in point as you paint it isnt that too bad. My thought: May be the wife at that point was exhausted and, for that reason, requested that the man dish his food by himself. In family setting, its no big deal for a man to go dish out his food himself, in fact it does not amount to disrespect. I presume that the woman cooked the food. Is it dishing it for his stomach that is a hard labour for a loving husband? SEE OP, TAKE IT FROM ME AND TELL ANY ONE WHO CARES TO LISTEN: A MAN SHOULD NOT EXPECT HIS WIFE TO DO ALL MENIAL JOBS AT HOME ALONE. IT SHOULD BE SHARED AND THAT IS WHEN THE COUPLE ARE IN 21ST CENTURY. TO TRY TO MAKE YOUR WOMAN SUBSERVIENT AND LABOUROUS, MAY BE THE WAY OUR GRAND PARENTS HAD THEIR WIVES DO WILL NOT ENGENDER HEALTHY HOME FOR MODERN FAMILIES. ADVICE: Let the man not always insist on asserting himself. Let him apply humility, it smoothens love and peace in the home. If the man had (perhaps foreknowing the way his wife behaves) gone to the kitchen and fetched the food himself without demanding that from the wife, perhaps the woman may have toned this way: "oh Darling, you should have asked me to serve your food na" In that way, your friend could have saved himself, his wife and their family this whole embarrassment. The good news is: soon their children will complement the deficiencies of either of them by rendering this kind of services... |

THE DEEPER LIFE CHURCH HAVE ACTED ULTRA VIRES (BIBLICALLY) AS FAR AS GOD AND HIS WORD IS CONCERNED. 2ND JOHN VS 9.
REAL MARRIAGE IS CONTRACTED WHEN TWO PERSONS OF OPPOSITE SEX AGREE TO MARRY EACH OTHER. CHURCH WISE, THE FAMILIES OF EACH PARTY TO THIS UNION NEEDS TO GIVE THEIR SUPPORT AND BLESSING TO THE MARRIAGE.
IF THE ARRANGEMENT CULMINATE TO THE POINT WHERE MARITAL RIGHTS (DOWRY) IS FIXED (WHETHER PAID INSTANTLY, PARTLY OR AGREED TO BE PAID IN A FUTURE DATE), THEN MARRIAGE IS ESTABLISHED.
NOTE: FROM WHAT I PUT UP ABOVE, MARRIAGE CAN BE COTRACTED WITHOUT INVOLVING THE CHURCH, OR, THE CHURCH CAN AT MOST BE A WITNESS TO THE PROCESS, WHERE THE PARTIES DEEM IT FIT TO INVOLVE OR INVITE THEIR CHURCH TO WITNESS IT.
NOW, WHEN THE MARRIAGE IS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED, THE PARTIES MAY WISH TO GO FOR CHURCH CELEBRATION, OTHERWISE CALLED WEDDING.
UNFORTUNATELY, THE CHURCHES HAVE AROGATED TO THEMSELVES, THE POWER TO JOIN PEOPLE IN MARRIAGE, BUT ITS WRONG.
THIS MATTER IS FUNDAMENTAL, SUCH THAT I WILL WANT TO AS ANY PERSON DISPUTING MY POSITION: IF YOU THINK THAT UNLESS A CHURCH "JOIN COUPLES IN MARRIAGE, THEIR MARRIAGE IS VOID" THEN TELL ME IF THE MARRIAGES THAT PRODUCED PEOPLE LIKE W.F.KUMUYI, AND OTHER RESPECTABLE NIGERIAN ARE VOID?
BECAUSE, MANY CHURCH "FOUNDERS'" PARENTS WEREN'T JOINED IN MARRIAGE BY A CHURCH, BUT TRADITIONALLY AND I TELL YOU AUTHORITATIVELY, THAT SUCH MARRIAGES ARE VALID.
IN THE BIBLE, WHICH THE DEEPER LIFE SHOULD HOLD TIGHT, THE OLD TESTAMENT REMAINS THE PLACE TO LOOK FOR HOW MARRIAGE IS ENTERED INTO. THE NEW TESTAMENT ISNT SUFFICIENTLY GUIDING CHRISTIANS ON "HOW", THUS PEOPLE STILL RELY ON OLD TESTAMENT.
THE NECESSARY INFERENCE IS: IF GOD, WHOSE BRAIN CHILD IS THE BIBLE HAD WANTED SOMETHING DIFFERENT ENTIRELY FROM THE PRACTICE IN OLD TESTAMENT, HE, WHO IS THE AUTHOR OF PEACE (not of confusion) WOULD HAVE MADE A DISTINCT PROVISION.
I WISH TO SAY THAT CHURCH MARRIAGE IS NOT GOD-COMMANDED MARRIAGE BUT A QUICK FIX BY THOSE WHO THOUGHT THERE IS A LACUNA IN THE SCRIPTURES WITH REGARDS TO MARRIAGE.
UNFORTUNATELY, CHURCH MARRIAGE AND COURT MARRIAGE ARE THE SAME THING AND ARE BORROWED ENHLISH CULTURE/PRACTICE ON MARRIAGE, NOTHING MORE.
TODAY, ANY CHURCH MARRIAGE OR COURT MARRIAGE THAT DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE ENGLISH " MARRIAGE ACT" REMAINS VOIDABLE AND WILL BE DECLARED VOID IN AN EVENT WHERE IT IS BROUGHT BEFORE A COMPETENT COURT OF JURISDICTION.
BUT A CUSTOMARY MARRIAGE JUST NEED TO CONFORM TO THE PRACTICE AND CUSTOMS OF THEIR PEOPLE TO BE VALID AND ITS NOT DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE TO CONFORM TO THE CUSTOM OF THEIR OWN POEPLE.
I HEREBY HUMBLY ASSERT THAT IF THE PARTIES TO THE MARRIAGE WHICH DEEPER LIFE REFUSED TO CELEBRATE IN BAYELSA HAVE CONDUCTED THEIR MARTIAGE IN LINE WIRH THEIR LOCAL CUSTOM AND PRACTICE, THEY ALREADY HAVE A VALID MARRIAGE.
IT FOLLOWS THEREFORE THAT WHERE THEY ALREADY HAVE A VALID MARRIAGE, THAT DEEPER LIFE REFUSED TO GIVE THE "CHURCH BLESSING" BEING SOUGHT IS NOT A BIG ISSUE. LET THE COUPLE BE HAPPY, THEY ARE MARRIED WITH OR WITHOUT CHURCH BLESSING. |

On the other hand: May be there were people around when the man responded with "my Dear" and it became shameful for the woman to keep mute to a "my Dear" from an outsider who's not her husband. Christianity Etc › Re: Are Those People In The Bible Before The Coming Of Jesus Also Going To Heaven? by eodavids(m): 8:01am On Apr 21, 2019 |
alBHAGDADI: When we tell people today that Jesus is the only way to heaven and that you have to truly believe in him to go there and not end up in hell, they reject our message. They immediately start to make excuses to show that they don't need Jesus. Some of them say they are fine without him because they have their own religion and will make heaven through that way, even when Jesus said he's the way, the truth and the life.
The most ridiculous excuse they give is that if one cannot make heaven without accepting that Jesus Christ as the son of God died, was buried and resurrected after 3 days, then it means all those prophets and Bible characters are in hell right now. They say it's because Jesus was never around when they existed. This excuse makes them think they don't need Jesus and that it is cool to follow any religion so long you acknowledge God. According to them, the people of the Old Testament part of the Bible didn't follow Jesus. This is a wrong understanding of the Bible.
Every righteous man in the Old Testament believed in Jesus Christ who wasn't a character that just surfaced in the New Testament. Jesus has always been right from Genesis when God said "Let us make man in our own image". That was Jesus he was talking to. Jesus was believed by Abel who offered the blood of the lamb as sacrifice which pictured Jesus Christ the Holy Lamb of God slained from the foundation of the world. Revelation 5:9; Revelation 5:12; Revelation 13:8; Isaiah 53:7; John 1:29
Abel simply followed the instructions of God which is to put Faith in the blood of the lamb, but his brother Cain disobeyed and relied on his own effort. He felt he could earn it by doing what he felt was right instead of obeying God's instruction. He went after his own works and God rejected him for that.
Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
What about Abraham? That man is known as the Father of faith for he had faith in God and it was counted to him for righteousness.
Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
What did Abraham believe God concerning? He believed God when he told him that his seed would be a blessing to the entire world. That seed is Jesus Christ.
Genesis 22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
Jesus Christ has been a blessing to the entire world with everybody getting saved through him. If you know that the Old Testament is a a shadow of the New Testament, then you will know that Abraham pictured the relationship between God and Jesus. He did when he wanted to sacrifice his son Isaac, that pictured God sacrificing Jesus for our sins.
Moses was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and also the people of Israel in his days and after, because they all awaited the Messiah which he spoke of and that is Jesus. Sadly enough, the Israelites couldn't recognize the Messiah when he walked in their midst. Even Jesus confirmed Moses believed in him.
John 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
Jesus wasn't a new testament thing. He was always in the Old Testament, but you were not seeing him. Same way the children of Israel did not notice him when he finally revealed himself to them. If I decided to show you how many times he appeared in the Old Testament, time won't be enough. Have you forgotten how Moses lifted up that serpent as a symbol of Jesus Christ death to free man from sin?
John 13:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
Have you forgotten how Isaiah prophesied about his birth and death? How David prophesied his resurrection and how he will be seated on God's right hand? How Daniel prophesied his battle against the Antichrist? Yet, some people think the prophets of the Bible can't make heaven since Christians say it is believe in Jesus Christ that gets one there. They think Jesus didn't exist in their days, but below is the Bible saying the prophets were witness of him.
Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
The prophets of old preached about Jesus and people believed, and that believe got them saved. That's why the Bible said...
John 3:16 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
How did people get saved before Christ came and died on the cross? They got saved by simply looking forward to the cross. They did animal sacrifices which symbolized the sacrifice Jesus gave of himself. We today get saved by simply looking back on the cross. Because come to think of it, Jesus wasn't crucified today or 5 years ago. He was crucified thousands of years before we were born. We look back to that event same way those that existed thousands of years before he was born and crucified looked forward to the event. We both believed everything written about him and that got us all saved.
Those that existed before the events of the birth, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ are called blessed because they believed in the prophecies written about the events by Prophets. We who exist after the events are also called blessed because we believed the record written by the Apostles about the events. We both didn't witness the events but believed and that's why Jesus himself called us blessed.
John 20:29 blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Were there people who didn't believe Jesus in the Bible? Yes, those Pharisees, Sadducees and the Jews whom they stirred up to kill Jesus. They never believed him that's why they were always arguing with him. Despite him reminding them that Moses wrote of him, they still didn't believe, which shows that they also didn't believe in Moses and the record he wrote.
Are there people who don't believe in Jesus today? Yes they are many. Some even claim they do just to save face, but really they do not. They don't believe he is the Son of God who was crucified, died and resurrected, even when he said so himself.
Mathew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
This means they have rejected Jesus Christ and are therefore condemned already. I didn't say so but the Bible which is the word of God.
John 3:18 (KJV) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
As seen so far, salvation is by Faith in Jesus Christ. Abraham, Abel and all the prophets had faith in Jesus and were called righteous men. We who believe in Jesus today are called righteous too. Anyone who lacks such faith is doomed. May God save you.
Say this prayer and be rest assured that nothing can ever stop you from making heaven. Nothing at all.
Father God, I put my faith in you. I believe you sent your Son Jesus to die for my sins and to give me his righteousness. I believe he resurrected on the third day and has prepared a place for all those that believe in him. Accept me as your son today and forgive me of all my sins do I can be a partaker of those good things. I believe in you.
Amen. Thanks op, you have done very well. Pls, go to the last two lines of the last paragraph, you will need to correct the "do" to "SO" Thanks |

Food › Re: Eating Too Much Of These 9 Nigerian Foods May Kill You by eodavids(m): 1:42am On Apr 06, 2019 |
DanielBryte: Fufu is dangerous, Eba can kill you!! Doctors make shocking discoveries about some favourite Nigerian foods that can send you to early grave- Details can save your life
While food is good for the body and necessary for survival, humans are also expected to be wary of the meals they ingest and the rate at which they consume them. Some types of food, if taken excessively, are capable of causing health risks. The onus is on you to learn why certain foods are unhealthy, why you shouldn’t take them and how you can make better choices on daily basis.
Here are some unhealthy meals Doctors have warned Nigerians to be cautious about their consumption:
Egusi soup:
At the mention of this soup, many will salivate as it is much-loved by many Nigerians… but hold that saliva. Egusi contains something called phytosterols which when consumed, compete with cholesterol for absorption in the digestive system.

Also, egusi has a high level of calories and when garnished with few chunks of stock fish and two pieces of meat, it has a total of roughly 700 calories per serving. Imagine consuming it with about 3 wraps of eba which is about 600 calories.
Loaf of sliced bread:
Bread is widely consumed daily across the country especially because it doesn’t have to be cooked before consumption. Bread belongs to the class of starchy foods and overt consumption increases the risk of getting diabetes.

If you are taking in 100 grams of bread, you are consuming 265 calories, especially if it is white bread. Some Nigerian-made breads are also not completely bromate free. Potassium bromate is added to help strengthen the bread dough and this chemical is cancerous. If you can steer off bread, there are other excellent choices that are low in carbs.
One minute Noodles:
While noodles can’t be called a Nigerian food, it has been adopted into Nigeria’s stream of foods such that it is consumed by both young and old. Nigerians go for noodles because it is cheap, easy and fast to cook, hence the name “instant noodles.”

Tests have revealed that noodles contain high sodium which aside being cancerous, causes heart disease and skin damage. Eating too much of noodles is bad for digestion and it also leads to obesity.
Eba:
Processed from cassava, garri is a food rich in carbohydrate; both the yellow and the white type. Garri helps to restore lost energy but a high rate of consumption does more harm than good. A cup of garri contains about 360 calories, 95% of which is carbohydrates and further consumption with soup, meat and/or fish, increases the level of calories.

Consuming a great deal of starchy foods like eba is like welcoming excess weight with open arms.
Fufu, made from cassava:
Fufu is another staple food made from cassava and its origin can be traced to Ghana. Fufu is of good nutritional value as it is rich in protein, fat, carbohydrates, potassium and low in cholesterol. Some are turned off by the smell that fufu gives and/or the fact that it takes longer time to digest.

Research has it that every part of cassava plant has a toxic chemical called Linamarin. This chemical, even after boiling the cassava, doesn’t change its state and this could be harmful during digestion.
Image result for Fufu Also, under-processing of fufu, which is rampant, has harmful implications on the health. This is because the cyanide content is not reduced to a non-toxic state. Women and children are susceptible to cyanide poisoning as they are usually the ones who carry out the processing of fufu.
Fried plantain:
There is a meme trending on social media about plantain which reads, “How can you say in good faith that the God who created plantain doesn’t love you?”. This is proof of the love people have for plantain. Granted, plantain is a good source of carbohydrates, vitamin B6, vitamin C and is also a natural remedy for peptic ulcer.

However, plantain contains a considerable amount of carbohydrates and more calories are produced when it is fried in oil. Also, the water content decreases when fried and this might not be satiating enough.
Integrating plantain into your diet is making way for ample calorie intake. Taking 100 grams of plantain is consuming about 30 grams of carbohydrates, 15 grams of sugar and 120 calories. Other methods of cooking plantain (aside frying) should be adopted if one cannot live without plantain.
Pastries:
There’s an endless list of flour-based pastries which are baked, fried or roasted and are often taken between meals. Healthy snacking helps you maintain physical and mental energy and it also helps one have control over main meals. Snacking is however, only healthy when it is done to control appetite and meet nutritional needs. It shouldn’t become a habit because many snack foods are high in fat, calories, sugar and salt.

One tends to gain extra pounds through added daily calories if snacking is done out of boredom or habit. Consuming too many sugary pastries could also lead to tooth decay. Endeavour to avoid buying pastries on the street. Home-made pastries are advisable as one is sure of the type of oil used for the preparation. Oil when used over time becomes acidic but most sellers tend to keep old oil in use and keep frying with oil which is already harmful to
Rice:
Rice is rich in carbohydrates and fairly low in calories. It is a good source of energy because it is carbohydrate-dense. Consuming too much of carbohydrate-dense foods may cause one to eat little of other nutritious meals needed for a healthy life.

Eating too much rice could adversely affect glucose metabolism in the body. White rice contains about 4 grams of fiber per cup and consuming it in excess would fill one up preventing intake of other foods.
White rice is also low in phytic acid because of the bran which is always removed during processing. Ample research has it that white rice increases the risk of getting diabetes. It is advisable to consume brown rice or reduce the rate of white rice consumption.
Pounded yam:
A lot of Nigerians love pounded yam and it is widely consumed across the country. Pounded yam is a source of carbohydrate and a good source of energy which contains dietary fiber that helps reduce constipation.

Pounded yam is high in calories as a small slice of yam contains about 330 calories and one tin cup of pounded yam contains about 400 calories from carbohydrates alone. Pounded yam has the highest glycemic index compared to boiled yam and the process of arriving at pounded yam makes carbohydrates more available to enzymes that disintegrate the carbohydrates to glucose.
Eating pounded yam is consuming calories with no real nutrition. Diabetic patients are advised to steer off foods with high starch and embrace foods with low starch.
Source: https://lifestyle.thecable.ng/eating-much-10-foods-may-kill/ Op, you have succeeded in throwing shade on our major foods. Even rice, yam, plantain, etcetera. Let me remind you: This is APC-next level and many people are not finding it easy to feed, so the most important issue in this Buhari era is whether people have what to eat, not whether they know which food to select and which to refrain from. Can't he come up with solution to this killings the way he originated "Shari'a" for them then? Nigeria self |

Bede2u: And there u have it folks. A thread was praising the honesty and good nature of northerners a while ago...and then boom..their real nature surfaces here.
Truth is that the north of nigeria is a region no country should pray to have....their mentality is the mentality the world should move away from.
Another truth is that I hate yorubas for hating Igbos...but believe me...i will choose a yoruba b4 i choose an hausa. I will rather be in a country with yorubas than be in a country with northerners. I will rather live in osun than live in taraba.
When a culture is built on intolerance...it is gone. The intolerance in the east and west dey learn work where the intolerance in the north of nigeria dey. Taraba state is almost like any other states in the southern Nigeria. Taraba state is predominantly Christians and are striving so hard not to be overtaken by Muslim Hausa/Fulani invaders. PLEASE, DO NOT REFFER TO TARABA AS A TYPICAL NORTERN STATE BECAUSE IT ISMNOT ONE. LOOK AT TARABA THE WAY YOY SEE BENUE, THOUGH ALSO IN THE "NORTH" sorry, do not think am defending my home state, am a southerner |

noisy45: Ok but Akapbio has done well to Akwa ibom I thought they would show him unrelenting love not minding any political parties. I saw Akapbio as APC in road to SS but he failed. But he will defect back to PDP if he is not given Ministerial appointment.. My Dear, you know south-south is yet to get real benefit from this APC-led federal government. Therefore, it wasn't funny to Akwaibomites when Akpabio was boasting to deliver the state to Buhari/APC. Put yourself in the shoes of Akwa Ibom people, you will understand. |

Arysexy: You and who worship the same God? This one is indirectly trying to seek Buhari's attention knowing full well that the idiot in Aso Rock is a religious and tribal bigot, you have lost touch with Ur subjects bc of mere threat by EFCC, u jumped ship, now u r regretting and trying to heap Ur woes on religious leaders
Oga Carry Ur political cross, anuofia! Of a truth, Akpabio was doing pretty well as the minority leader in the 8th senate, only for him to jump ship without caution. |
