Redomi:OK. drop your WhatsApp number |
Redomi:Why do you think it is not going to be easy? Do you think you can't buy one from this business you are doing? It seems you all still don't tap into what I am sharing here. Guy....nothing is impossible. Find out what it is going to take. Nope. You just gave up again. Oh. Incubator is expensive...I can't do it. Lol. OK. Let me teach you negotiation technique. OK. Let me write it here. How many chickens can I sell to buy an incubator using solar. Of course, the first step is to know the kind of incubator you need. Well, I know it is hard to do if you don't know much about electrical and electronics connections. Then, match it with the power (always below 100w...I think around 40W to 80w). Let's say you can hatch 100 eggs at a time with 40W....just saying...you need to configure it to arrange yourself. Also, look into using hatcheries...see...if its cost effect. What you can do is...bulk up...store eggs for 7 days... let's say you have 50 birds....for 7 days...you get like 450 eggs. Candle them and let's say you need 1000 females...think...you can do it. If i was close to you, I would definitely look into working with you....maybe trade by barter....but I think we live in different states. But I can assist you configure the right incubator for your setup...so that you can know what you need....and the cost. |
Redomi:I know. If you know the cost, you can plan to buy one and solar can power it. You may even import it yourself and can be cheaper. Yes, expensive ....then see how to stress yourself for 6 months and make money with your birds....then...get it. This is why you need numbers to know how much of stress you will endure to raise such cash. This is how many boys use poultry to "japa". 1 year solid preparation to learn various ways of cutting costs. Then, use another 1 year to execute it. Then 3 months to recuperate before japa. After japa, life changes completely. Can you stress yourself beyond the ordinary to enjoy later? The only way out is knowing how to check your numbers and formulate a strategy to achieve it. If you need help, you should find one and tackle such like your life depends on it. You can do everything. But you need to know when to stop so you don't collapse or land in the hospital. Those guys even asked me to put the cost of effective supplements. Also, they "yacked" chicken, eggs, etc anyhow during the hardworking period. Loaded enough food at home. Na project sir. I laugh the way ppl complain on NL. And the way, they do things without getting their numbers right first. It is well. |
marhoinspire:Mercy. I'm getting excited. Please, are they fully indoor to lay daily? Or do they still roam about? How do you find their eggs? In as much she remains with the cock, she will keep layingOK. I will try this. |
Ade3131:Various ways, but the problems there...I can't anymore.. except the commercial production. I can't because of workers' issues. But when you are just starting, you should cut the cost. The methods are growing alternative highly digestible food. Bugs, larvae, and algae. If you are into crop farming... you can grow corn too. You should take your time to learn each of these listed alternatives before going in. You will make a profit. Trust me. But when you think of the stress, you may not want to dobit again, except you have helping hands. And the moment you introduce such, wahala. So, I do it when I'm motivated to raise money. I did it 2.5 years ago. I'm trying again cos I need to raise a huge amount of money for something. So, imagine you have such weapon in your arsenal, too? I'm trying to load broilers....50 per week...and I won't buy DOCs. So, I'm thinking now....why not noiler, native chicken...etc. Why? Cos I can leave like even 100 to roam around while I'm not around for like 6 mths. Maybe I'm not in the country. So, instead of starting a broiler from scratch, these strong breeds will pick up... and the broiler can enter later... but I will always have a quick jump start as soon as I'm around. Check my profile and threads for the day old plan. Or click here: https://www.nairaland.com/8067180/high-cost-day-old-chicks/3#129705534 I know a thing or two about raising birds myself because I've tried it on a medium scale and got the management right but failed at marketing them.Hmmmm! I have been trying to talk to many here about marketing, but the truth is that many don't want to talk. But see...I can guide you. Check that thread. Right now, I am more into retailing. I am no longer into supplies cos na slavery. I do everything to sell to direct consumers. This is why I am not trying to do 1,000 birds. Lol. 50 per week... I think I can sell well. If it's just 5, you can sell per week to direct consumers. That's what you should do. If you can combine sales of just 1 crate of eggs, broilers 2 birds per week, and even native chickens, why not? I would structure the farm to give me these items per week. Sales here can be around N40k to N60k per week. Will that cover your expenses as a startup? If not, start, then push it to 2 crates, 5 broilers per week...and more. If any can't move, remove it or downsize it. Then, look into turkeys. How many can I sell during Xmas. Calculate your numbers ahead. That turkey will just be "joker" money. So, marketing goes along with your production. You will need to combine many things. You see me trying to know more. See..what I am sharing here... many of them will NEVER. They are reading...lol. but I am always bigger than them. Why? When you fold your palms, you can't receive them, but open them...and that's it, bro. Give, and it will be given back in thousands folds. Regarding local hen.... The best they can do is give you an egg each daily, but they start laying at about 5 to 6 months old just like their Isa brown cousins. If I can get daily egg production...then damn layers....except there is more to it. And even there is more...i can know how to mix both. I'm interested to learn how you make them lay eggs daily. Please drop your WhatsApp. I will connect with you. Or send me a mail. Raising crossbreed of native hen and (young) broiler Cock or big noiler, or vice versa will yield the best result. |
newoffer:The challenge with you is that you don't get your numbers before and during production. Is this not what I have been trying to check? See...its not an issue of meat and eggs no dey scarce for mouth. With layers, I can make even millions per month. Same with broiler. Yes, despite all odds. However, I am interested in this native too. Do you think I will rush into it with getting my numbers right? How much you sell? How many eggs they produce...you have said nothing na. Except you don't keep record and you aren't observant. You should know by now what it takes to make N500k per month. The question is that...is it worth the stress? No need to answer me...I'm just asking a rheotical question I don't need answers to. If you don't know what it takes to make N500k per month from this native chickens after the time you have spent, then, you really need to evaluate your approach. Personally, I dont go with...the is lucrative. Maybe to the person. I want to see the numbers and make my decision. If you don't want to share...its OK. One way or the other, I will get what I need. That's me. I always find a way out. |
newoffer:Hahaha. The heat of manure will incubate them. ![]() |
Redomi:Nice....bro...I am interested in getting info on Noiler and frizzled feathered too. That it lays eggs daily caught my attention. This is what I'm talking about bro. Redomi:Believe me, if you need to grow exponentially, you should find an incubator. I'm telling you from experience. You will be shocked what you can get. This is a private talk for you. I won't want to expose you here that you should share some vital info. Let's see templates of incubators you can use. Believe me, you can get one. It may require you to safe...but you can get. And the money will come from your business. All I need to see are figures of your sales, and I will show you how you can safe and buy an incubator. Every problem for me is a winning strategy. Just like how I am trying to win with high cost of day old broiler chicks. I won seriously one time with high cost of feed. One boy wanted to japa. I had a friend who told me to get him 50 turkeys last year...but no time...he gave me 11 months upfront notification. This guy came at the right time. I just place the opportunity to on his table. He ordered 55 foreign turkeys...and boom....I guided him. He raised some good amount of money. So, this things are opportunities. I am interested in knowing about them all. I am presently working on ducks too. Trying to find where I can order Khaki Campbell. I want to see how I can grow them to like 100 and then see how 10,000, 50,000...100,000 is possible. There is an opportunity I want to explore with that breed. It is gonna take time, and I am not in hurry. In all these issues, my major headache is faithful workers. It is why I am slowing down. But really, I want to invest in the health of my close family members. I don't want to grow old alone. I need people around me too. So, as I am investing in myself, I am investing in others and building a good network. Brother...thanks for sharing those pics. Bless you. Let's connect also. |
kenny160:Interesting. 12 years. Can we share ideas? I can give you tops for layers in exchange for native chickens. Drop your WhatsApp or email. I will connect with you. but I am planing of going into layers too just like you but I was thinking how to feed them coupled with no space as I am no more home but now I got some points from your comment which give me hope and open my eyes ways to start. You need cages only....the reason layers and broilers are wonderful is the management of space. However, I think all birds should be allowed to roam about. Lol. But since it's not possible here...no need. The only issue is that you need to attend to them mornings and evenings. If you can do that. You are good to go. And dedicate a day to make general cleanliness...you may want to employ someone for that to do it in your presence. You need not work too hard. Just stay there and monitor the person. Buy give them food by yourself. Only you can feed even 100 birds daily in the mornings and evenings. Then, pack your eggs at night. Or find someone to do it for you in your presence. You may be tired, just be there. I can give you more tips. And I can run your figures for you. Don't worry...I can give you a free business plan customised for you. Just give me native info and secrets in details. Finally, I'm going to ask you the same question I have asked above: I have a question. Let's say I have 50 hens (females) with some cocks. Tell me...how many eggs can I get weekly if I do not allow them to brood the eggs? Their jobs is to job lay eggs....I collect the eggs and incubate in an incubator. Tell me, how do you make the lay more and more eggs? |
newoffer:Interesting. I will need to see the FCR of the whole process. Free range is the solution....but thieves around the neighbourhood is the challenge, if not, one needs to get food for them. A very good approach is to grow poultry lawn and grasses. There are seeds mixture for chickens...then produce bugs for them. Villagers give them corn/sorghum/millet shaft also. I have a question. Let's say I have 50 hens (females) with some cocks. Tell me...how many eggs can I get weekly if I do not allow them to brood the eggs? Their jobs is to job lay eggs....I collect the eggs and incubate in an incubator. Tell me, how do you make the lay more and more eggs? |
marhoinspire:OK. It seems most people are naturally attracted to native chickens. It's OK. How much do you sell one? I am still looking at the figures. Time vs low cost of feed. |
For Messi and Neymar to leave PSG, something is not right about the club. Even JJ okocha had his share too in the club. Now, just look at Leo and Suarez again. I think Neymar will join them soon if he is bored in Saudi. My view is that Mbappe can't be at the very top. I think Haaland is taking over from Leo very soon. |
Iykegodslove:Hmm! Note: i dnt want to divorce my wife and am ready to forgive her bcs she has been of great help to my success and moreover, i love my family very well. What should i do to stop them?We will be there to chop your akara when you are dropped 6 feet below very soon. You love a cheating woman. Lol. Dead Man Walking! Love your kids. Co parent with the cheat...but get rid of her fast. You want to forgive someone who is deep into that mess? Not that she did it once and ran to you ooo. Ha! You are dead. She isnt your family anymore. She is your potential killer. You want to stop what she is deeply rooted in? Do you know how much of your secrets the man knows? You are a dead meat. A beg. Get the crap off the NL since you are ready to die. Instead of you to quickly start looking for a way out while you pretend you know nothing. Gather evidences so you can use in the court of law to take your kids. And also plan how to japa with your kids so you can be far away from that cheat. I pity you. You want to take her back. Please, just let me know how to reach your family so that I can be checking if you are dead. Your wake keep akara go sweet. |
I thank everyone who has contacted me, and I am humbled by the various conversations I have had thus far. DOC costs can undoubtedly be eliminated. Most people see only the cost of feed as the ONLY hindrance Well! Can you take the bull by the horn? Cos I have solutions to this nasty issue. However, you must start small and progress gradually. Main Problem You do not know how to grow and treat grains to produce easily digestible feed for your birds. Multiple Adjustments Needed to Reduce More Costs of Production Guys, bandits, and kidnappers will not let you grow crops, but poultry is fine. So, in my opinion, if you focus primarily on the feed, you are not yet ready. Grains are human food, so do not expect them to be inexpensive. You gat to reduce costs here and there. I have had enough conversations with people right now, and I am not willing to go any further for the time being. So I will not respond to the emails and WhatsApp messages that did not continue this conversation with me. When there is another opening, I can consider you. Sorry....Next time ....check your emails, WhatsApp messages, and reply promptly. Day Old Chicks Production & Marketing Is Our Focus If you have 10 female parent stocks, it means you will have around 50 chicks weekly. So, we are exploring ways to market them. Day-old chicks, 4 weeks old birds, or above 3kg birds. It is a lot of work, but if you can get it right....that's it. Of course, I asked two people to downsize to 3 birds each so they can have 15 to 18 birds per week. Retailing I believe so much in retailing in a nation with an explosive population, yet many are extremely poor. We will learn the kind of recipes that can run Nigerian streets based on your location. Follow the street, sell gradually, and watch your profits grow gradually. If you are waiting for a large number of buyers, be prepared to sell at a low price while producing more. Personally, I believe you are a micro-scale producer, and you should consider your target market segment. Some of these issues can be discussed further here as well. |
stanvesco:Bro! I sent you a message. I am also working on some things. So, let me hear what you have conceived...and see how it can help us all. |
newoffer:I am not condemning you bro. A man who views issues using his own instincts alone without listening to others might miss out. I am trying to tap into your wisdom. Don't look at me like hey....layers are cool, native na wash...Nope. There must be something in this thing that is making you go for it. And I want to learn If you can sell it for 6k upwards, that's a good deal. Please bro...I just want to learn and I might ask strange questions. Just pardon me. A beg. I get more excited that you can sell at N6k upward. Not bad at all. I know you said people don't like broilers, and I disagreed previous. But after checking it out again, I think I have heard such too...and I won't dispute it further. However, there is something to unravel. Just pardon me. Let's say someone gives you the contract to sell broilers of 3kg along with your native chicken, do you see a way out? How much would you propose to sell 1 broiler? Sure, you aren't producing the broilers, but you will pick then up and just sell in addition to your native birds. To be honest, which will move more? What about quail birds? What do you think? @marhoinspire... abeg, no VEX bro. I am just trying to see another view and style of chicken business. Personally, I am thrilled that you guys can sell native chickens. I produce quail birds for personal consumption and I have not thought of how to sell the birds or the eggs....but when I saw this thread.....my heart goes to quail, noilers, kuroilers, native chickens, etc. There may be gold there. This is why I am trying to figure out how you guys are doing it. Marketing and Sales are two areas that interest me so much. |
newoffer:Saying most people don't like broilers is not accurate. Broiler's breast is lean meat. You can easily remove the fat in it. Thigh and drumstick don't have fat. You can easily remove the fat. Or you boil it and put the water in a freezer....scrape the fat off it and that's it. It is OK if you cannot feed 200 layers, if it is 25 you can feed, it is OK. 25 will give you like 15 to 20 crates in a month. And you can easily retail it at N200 each. That's like N110,000 sales. Why should you do what you want afford. Even it is 10. It is OK. Retail it. Steady money will come in. But still I am trying to understand the profit in this you are doing. How much do you sell each? I am trying to see if waiting for more than 8 months is really worth it. Time is money. If you can roll money fast, why not? If it makes sense to do 25 layers only and retail it, perhaps you van raise money from your next sales. 9 months waiting period to not sell something substantial ....does it really worth it? Please, how much do you sell each? |
newoffer:I am trying to understand how 200 chickens in six months that will take many months to attain 1.5kg is profitable. Like how much do you sell each chicken when they matured? And how long does it take...10 months or more? |
jidestroud:He is talking about 520 here. Blue bag. stagger:Yours is most likely the professional line which are yellow bags. If so, 600 bags is the minimum you can buy from the company directly at whole sale price. So, the prices you have are in order. Each line has I think 3 kinds of products. For the professional which I prefer for 6 weeks aggressive bulk up, they have starter crumble, starter pallet or non pallet or so, and finisher pallet or non pallet. Not sure of the non pallets cos I always use pallets. And they are different prices. The lines have different nutrients, crude protein, energy levels etc. You need to understand all the lines New Hope has got so you can choose wisely. Depending on your broilers' breed, you should choose wisely. |
The truth is that salary increment is not the answer. And I am sure labor knows this, too. But let's be real....politicians, especially senators and legislatures, doing us shege is why labor must mount real pressure. If Bola Tinubu can propose an N15k increment for civil servants, he should be bold to tell legislatures and senators to let go of their juicy incentments. They also should start sacrificing for the nation. If they are not ready to adjust (especially collecting millions for weekend take home), make labor scatter everywhere. But this labor leader is something else. He is for himself only. So, Nigerians will still have to bear the pain. |
Special Invitations I am taking my time going through the massive amount of information in this NL, both old and new threads. I assure you that there are exceptionally skilled individuals who have produced, marketed, and sold chickens and eggs here. Let us learn from their extensive experience. I hope they all respond; however, if none of them respond, we will move on. According to the Bible, "Ask and you will receive answers." Seek, and you shall find. Knock and the door will be opened for you. Jidestroud is number one on my list. Bro! I am personally asking you a favor here. I noticed that you can easily sell unusual breeds and ages of poultry. You once raised krunoilers and sold over twenty-five four to eight-week-olds. Another time, you sold broilers that were four weeks old. I read that you also sold more than ten eight-week-old turkeys. Around 2020, you stated that you would be unable to satisfy your duck market. Please explain how you are able to easily sell them off. us Please give us tips on how to do the following: 1. Sell approximately fifty 4-week-old broilers per week. 2. Sell approximately fifty live 3kg - 4.5kg well-grown chickens per week. If you follow this thread, sir, I intend to get some people together to start breeding broilers and produce 45 - 55 day old chickens per week. So, before we begin, we should broaden our horizons and seek assistance. Marketing is the sole of this business. Even the layers you are currently working on, you could easily sell some of them to make room for the chickens. And also to raise money for feed. I believe that any farmer who can operate in this manner is good to go on any given day or time. We look forward to learning from you, sir. |
Ameboperoo:When hens are fed a well-balanced diet, they will naturally produce eggs. The number of eggs laid depends on the breed. Modern breeders try to come up with breeds that lay more eggs. This is why farmers prefer these types of breeds. However, farmers balance everything by comparing the cost of maintaining each breed. Some lay more eggs, but the costs of keeping them are high. In this thread, we are discussing how to get fertile eggs for broilers. Normal broilers raised by farmers cannot produce well-formed chickens from their eggs. A special type of bird known as parents' stock produces fertile eggs. Males of these birds pass their sperm to females, who lay fertile eggs. If there is no semen, the female will lay dead eggs that are only suitable for human consumption. So we are trying to find sets of birds that can lay fertile eggs. One male per ten females. That one male will serve all ten females. And you will get between 40 and 55 eggs per week. I hope this explanation helps you understand the process better. |
stagger:Oh! Pardon me. I missed your DM. I will reply soon. Sure, you are welcome sir. |
I believe these highway water projects are worthwhile. We need to make the most of our blue ocean resources. |
Interesting days are ahead. |
jidestroud:I wish to be around and entertain myself watching your birds in this place during the time you place feed in the trays. World War III. Would be very interesting. |
Arbor Acre Plus: Small-Scale Breeding Program This is a program I am starting as a result of the suggestions and discussions in this thread. I was right to take the bull by the horns and bring the issue here, knowing that I would get answers to the high cost of day-old chicks. This is the breed Chi (Ajanla), Amo, and some other hatcheries produce here in Naija. You can easily attain 3kg in 6 weeks. And if you decide to grow it beyond 6 weeks, it can give you massive meat yield. Summary of 40 weeks of Egg Production Note that these projected figures are for one female bird. Age at depletion - 448 days (64 weeks) Total eggs - 192.7 Hatching eggs - 180.6 Chicks/female housed at 175 days (25 weeks) - 156.5 % Hatchability - 86.6 Age at 5% productions - 175 days (25 weeks) % Peak Production - 89.6 Body weight at depletion - 4.1kg to 4.22kg Liveability (rearing period)% - 95 - 96 Liveability (laying period)% - 92 Approx feed per bird for the project: 56kg (Still working on getting the real accurate figure). Feed Quality These parent stocks contain a moderate amount of protein. We start with about 19% crude protein and gradually reduce it to 13% crude protein. Not as expensive as commercial ones, we require 20 - 23% starter and finish with 17%. The bulk of the feed is 13% to 14%, and a bag can cost up to N14,000. The cost of feeding a bird I will not go into detail about the total cost of production, but since we know that the feeding cost is the most important, let us look at it right away. Please, kindly note that I am going to dig more into this. Each bird will consume 56kg for the project. The bulk is 14% crude protein. Of course, there are cheaper brands. Each bird will eat N31,360 worth of feed. Shikena. 12 birds will be less than N400k. (This will be reviewed further...I am making a rough estimate here...I will still dig more into this). Sales Sales per bird Approx 180 Hatching eggs. 1. Day Old at N900 per bird. Sales is 162,000. 10 birds will give 1.6 million naira. You can easily remove your cost of production from this. 2. 4 weeks old birds at N2,500 - N4,500 (depending on the size). 10 birds will give (5% mortality rate): 5.99 million naira at 3,500 each. 3. If you choose to grow to 2kg and 3kg, you will have 40 to 50 chicks per week. I laugh at the guy who argued with me that it is not worth it on this thread. Please carefully review these projections. I tell you, if you do not know how to handle data and figures, you will just talk nonsense. Indeed, your operation will be "ye-ye-lism." Data Science is currently the order of the day. When you have figures, you can better prepare yourself. These big boys make good money because they can invest. What is stopping five people from putting this together? Criteria for joining me 1. Previous experience successfully managing at least one carton of broilers. I will carefully ask you questions. 2. If you have a thread on NL, show me. That's gonna be a straightforward pass. 3. NL's teachers are welcomed. I have seen some interesting broiler management threads here, and if any of you are interested, I would be delighted to welcome you. If you have any questions, please post them here. For the time being, I will not engage in private chat or email. It is for my peace of mind. I have learned to put everything here first... When I have a clear direction, I can open private chats. For the time being, everything is centered on this thread. Sincerely Yours! Note: I am not managing birds for anyone. 5 interested people can take 10 birds each. 4 can take 12 to 13 each. Carry your birds to your place and start breeding. Of course, we are going to learn together. So, don't come and ask me for ROI. "Shi-shi".... a no dey do. Find your ROI elsewhere. Strictly for practising poultry farmers. Breed, sell day- old chicks, 4 weeks chicks, or 3kg plus chickens consistently. |
stanvesco:OMG! How did I miss your point. Damn it. You meant that "like minds" could get together and pick a carton of parent stock to share. Yeah! Yeah! That's great. I mean, this is good. Sure! We can try it out here. I have a better idea...we can open a WhatsApp group and them share ideas on how to run the breeding program. This is cool. I think it can work. It should. This is brilliant. Ten female breeders will produce approximately 55 eggs per week. With proper management, 50 broilers can be obtained. Also, if one can not meet the demands of managing 50 broilers per week, we will make arrangements with a hatchery and a marketer to assist in selling the ones we are not raising. Each team member sells one carton per week. One can expect to profit between $25 and $30,000. This is cool. And when one is ready to take the chicks for himself... that's it. Brilliant!!!! I think I will need only 5 members. We are already 2. Three more, and I am closing it. Shikena! And we move like a team members for years. We can roll layers, too. Also, ducks and turkeys. I am good to go. Let's explore it. Let us explore the world of possibilities. Massive opportunities in front of us. I think it is good we discuss this in the open first....now we can move to WhatsApp. I will post about this tomorrow with a more detailed analysis and projections. |
stanvesco:Hmm! In an ideal situation, collaboration is what Nigerians should leverage, but from previous experiences, Nigerians are nasty with collaborating with one another. The spirit of outwitting others is not uncommon among Nigerians. This spirit is the most active ingredient in Nigeria's spiritual food. To do this successfully, the following people must be filled with God's spirit: 1. The coordinator 2. The managers of the birds. These two groups of people must be very honest to make this work out. Here are the expected outcomes for ordinary Nigerians: 1. They will manage it well and sell to people who did not contribute at market price, while telling lies about losing the birds. They can do anything to fabricate lies. 2. They might fight and then leave the farm. They do not care because they have not invested anything or very little. 3. They may develop an "I do not care" attitude during the project, allowing the birds to die. You will be surprised to learn that these same people are currently unemployed. Nigerians see it as an opportunity that they must seize. If they fail people and do any of the aforementioned things, they make no fuss about it. It is no big deal. In fact, they believe they will be stupid if they do not seize this opportunity. So, if you want this kind of arrangement to happen, how do you want to get godly people to manage the farm and deliver day-old chicks to farmers as scheduled. This is like a 2 to 3 years program. Can they be faithful to the end? If this program is successful for like 1 year, believe me...most NL farmers will tap into it. But Naija...Hahaha... The devil has made their hearts his strategic planning rooms. |
stagger:What opened my eyes to high consumption of poultry products was the month I went round to really check the kind of meat that runs Lagos streets. I was shocked poultry meat competes well. Meat still leads... Suya...mama put....etc. But poultry products.....eggs...boiled, fried, snacks....meat......they run Lagos streets more than any kind of meat especially in the sun - fast processed food. Chicken franks, large sausages, hotdogs....indomie runs, so many spots I saw where feet are sold...one for N100....not even talking of sharwana , barbecue, and other luxurious foods. I am talking of normal food runs. One can tap into any of these areas. Just go around and open your mind. Believe me...ideas will flow. You will have to return home and then, start a new model. It will take time...but you will see what I am saying. There is a model where chicken thigh and drum sticks, breasts, and wings are packed together in Lagos and farmers sell in bulk for around N22k for 5kg. I don't have the recent price. I just commissioned a marketer to run it for me that time. The marketer was even my inlaw. Lol. She is a caterer...and she even topped hers. Work with marketers...work with ladies in the industries....they will open up the market for you. Just be careful with mixing business with family matters or friendship. Then, you have left over carcass like heads, feet, and internal organs. That time...I made sure I got enough dog breeders who I gave out my heads too. Feets retailing sure pass anything. Just get a poor region and spice it well...they will buy. Internal organs...I can't recollect how I disbursed the rest...but I offloaded them all. I did not start with 1 000 birds sir. Infact, I could manage well over 5,000 at once if I wanted to, but when I wanted to start that runs, I started with half carton to understand the market. And gradually, I was doing 500 birds per week..then, 2,000...and it keeps growing. What about eggs...I gat a friend who sells only scotch eggs. And that was it. He found his niche...and boom. He developed the market. Finished. He used to produce over 1 000 crates weekly, but downsized drastically to 2 crates when he started. He's got pretty quite good number of sales presently running into some few millions every month focusing on just a product. Outside of this, he runs chips....today, he is presently in the UK and his mother inlaw is the one running it. He got the money he used to relocate from the business without selling any of his properties like many Nigerians. It is not easy, but the way forward is running what sells. Selling what the street buys. Eg. Streets don't buy meat pie again....check it out. Just deliberately take note of what I am telling you here. You will see that you won't see meat pie again like before. What do you see more? Chicken franks ....here and there. Eggs products here and there. Chicken meat by products here and there. Can you tap into any of these? |
yemmit90:Very wrong info in bold. Lol. If I dissect this for you...eh. And the one I crossed out...fish farmers and meat butchers say same. Hahaha...yet, I see almost everyone in Nigeria eat meat, fish, eggs...etc...no matter how small. Your problem is that you are targeting families that eat together. If you still don't get this into your head...you will keep failing. . So, those who eat sausages made from chickens produced in Nigeria are not eating chicken.....right? Those who eat legs are not humans...right. those who eat wings in mama puts place are not part of it. But only those who buy Xmas chickens...yehhhh....are the ones who eat chickens...right? I see soke who eat only gizzards. They aren't part of the supply chain...right? Keep targeting the smallest market share and keep arguing here. Lol. A good marketer will NEVER target Xmas buyers. For what na? Yet, those are who you all try to target on NL. Produce for Xmas eaters. And last year wounded you all. "Dem wound many of you last year". Yet, you are still talking about it. It shows you have not learned anything. ![]() You dont know any reality. Your reality is your limited world. So, keep them to yourself. Those making it are. If you like...learn retailing...if you like...keep arguing. |
yemmit90:Have you done it to start saying this? You are too bold. Walahi. ![]() [b]The fact that you are looking at population shows you have never been there before, because if you were, you won't use that as yardstick in judging market situation in Nigeria where over 85% only eat chicken during festive period.Your marketing skills are extremely poor. You are just limited to your production level. ![]() Every seasoned marketer and sales rep deals with figures. Lol. See eh... a beg...we need to end this. Stay with your farm. OK.. All those barbecue, snacks, lunch, etc only exist as good idea, it doesn't work or sustain you as average or big farmer because you can't keep broilers in your pen and be selling on tiny portion withiout incurring loses. They are good ideas to you and not reality because you aren't a doer. Oga, leave story jare. Don't be too bold in matters you don't understand. I said you are too bold in your statements. I have given you clues, but you want others to see reasons you can not sell well. See... believe that in your world. Tiny portions... I heard you. Yet, those retailers buy like 100kg or more and sell within a week. 100kg is like how many birds you produce? 40 to 47 broilers that is 3kg live size...lol. Dey play. Na you no sabi marketing oga. Give 500 broilers to a good marketer, and he will retail them all in less than a week..while you can't. What you don't know....try to relax and learn and stop doing "a sabi am". One thing you should know is that, you can never ever have competitive advantage in poultry business due to perishable nature of the products.Lol. Yet, retailers sell them wella. Farmers cannot be rich...walahi. A beg...a don die this matter. Just don't discourage others wanting to find ways out. You don't know it...so, leave it alone.. and stop making it like your way is the ONLY way out. If you can not retail your products, then leave it. Let those who can go ahead. Retailing 100kg weekly is possible. Mind you...I still got offers for a live chicken of N15,000. Dem plenty for my hand. Wetin you dey talk. Retailing is a skill. You don't know about it, so leave it alone. And I am not ready to drag any issue further. I don't even discuss this issue with farmers. I discuss farming with farmers and marketing with retailers. So, let's off this thing. Good luck, bro! |
