Im not talking about junior or senior staff. I mean the top echelon of the banks. For example, skyebank downsize in June this year how many top executive were affected when in actual fact, they nearly run that bank down if not for the quick intervention of the CBN. What im saying is more often than not, staff outside management cadre are often made to pay the price even when it is glaring that management has made and implemented a policy that backfire.

For those guys to be retained don't you think there's something they have going for them? Maybe they brought a top client to the bank?

I was referring to the general perception that senior level staff don't do much in organisations. That's wrong. The amount of paper work they deal with in a week is high. Planning, budgeting, administrating among others. You don't know until you get to that position.

Not only junior staff. And if you think they don't do anything you're wrong. Those guys have a lot of work to do.

I used that word because it is suicide to just go into a business anyhow without considering all the angles. That's why a lot of start ups fail in the first year. If he can't raise the money for alternative power supply then he shouldn't venture into it. If his plan was to start and save so he can buy it then he shouldn't complain or stop after the first month. No business is too small to have a plan before starting. This includes the financial plan.

And there are no alternative like APC, battery? That gen should exhaust nothing more than 12 litres and that's about 45k. But it's foolishness really if I can't get a good inverter and battery to buy

I dont fancy All this kind of programs because its just temporary, and the may reasons for setting it up by the govt. Are most times not achieved, and public funds will be wasted on it. We have seen such programs in the past. Nigeria just need help thats all.

Otherwise, the so called entrepreneurs would only end up importing more trash into the country and thereby putting more pressure on Dollar-Naira rate.

You need to involve a lawyer so any agreement is binding. Whatever you do make sure you bring at least 51% to the table so you always have the larger share of decisions and profits. But for this to happen you need to contribute at least 51% of the fund involved including land and all.

I think in some cases you can actually start a business with bank loan. For example if I have been doing thesame business with a partner or as an apprentice and one day I decide to go solo, It is pretty safe to secure a loan because I have mastered the terrain already.

As long as you are sure of getting all the clients or customers you need immediately that's ok.

I agree with you. I think I will chill a bit on the loan and just move at the pace my revenue can afford now. The loan I am talking about is in the range of 3-7 millions so yes bank is my only resort for a long term loan.

There are very cute 5 bedroom bungalow. You don't need to build a duplex to please anyone. The money you will spend decking can be used to put nice finishing to your bungalow. You can go for duplex but if it's just to impress friends it's not worth it. Having a bungalow with a very fine outer view and nice compound is the deal if you ask me. You can even make it 1 master bedroom, 3 bedrooms for kids, 1 main large sitting room and 1 children sitting room. This will be 4 bedrooms and 2 sitting rooms instead of 5 bedrooms.

To use a bank loan to start a business? Not advisable at all. The incubation period for a start up is 3-5 years so how do you service your loan when you still finding your feet? If it's to expand the business fine but not starting a new one unless there's a business you're running aside which can help in servicing the loan.
