Yesterday I posted it here that I wasn't sure about today's game and I sense we going to lose but all I wanted was to see how we turn out against a top team. I was really disappointed with how we played. It's too early for the result to have a say in the title race bur being out played, out fought and beaten is the worst thing that can happen to a united side against a city side. I only hope Mou and the team learn their lesson and treat the next big game with all seriousness. |

AdisaOwala: In the 1st half, the ready made excuse was probably "he is best as an AM"
In the second half when he was shifted to his best position, the excuse changed to "he had two players on him - kudos to the opposition's manager"
Are these the kinda ridiculous excuses we are gonna be reading whenever Pogba is ineffective and redundant in any game?
If anything, it should be Ibra that should be spared due to his AMF's off-day but we still saw him dropping deep & making himself useful...trying to make things happen and constituting a nuisance to City's defence.
Look, the fact remains that Pogba offered nothing from his supposed best position and such performances are unacceptable - there's no need trying to downplay his ineffectiveness in today's game!
Story for the gods...
It's so easy for peeps like you to trumpet the "Rooney is wasting our 300k - he should be benched" stuff all day long but when e reach Pogba turn, all sorts of excuses seem to have been prepared in his defence like say na small money e dey collect.
And yes, the world's most expensive player should be critiqued accordingly if he performs below expectation - on these pages, there won't be any sacred cow trust me!
#Untothenextgame# I don't think anybody here praised Pogba for his efforts today so calm down because you're fighting with yourself. Pogba was selfish with the ball but we know he can be better. As for Rooney he finished 2 seasons ago. So? |

AdisaOwala: Pogba was thrusted into his favorite position and he did nothing! From an attacking POV, when Rooney contributes more than our star player, I doubt if it could get worse than that!
you were quick to pick on Bailey's mistake(s) while turning a blind eye to the lethargic performance of our most important player.
You must be a very objective & Sincere analyst!! Pogba was not it in the first half. In fact the whole team. But in the second half city players defended deeply and pogba even had to come deep to get the ball most times. I can only fault him for always keeping to the ball when he was supposed to release it. Did you notice there was always 2 guys on Pogba when he had the ball? I praise Pep for that. He got his tactics right and prepared his team well. Continuing to scream most expensive player wouldn't change a thing in case you don't know. He didn't set the fee himself. But am sure you know that. I only wish we can begin to pile pressure from kick off and not wait till 2nd half. |

Oasis007: We did play a good Game, though in the 2nd Half, but we are just unlucky to at least get a Point.
Meanwhile, I hope Diademk07 will appreciate Herrera for the first time! He did a decent job, he played with passion and I am really happy for him!
Ride on with the Party, but to be frank, majority of United Fans ain't pained ! Help me them o Yes I agree with your assessment of Herrera. I thought he was great too. He was one of the reasons we weren't hurt on the counter. |

Diademk07: Blind was average but so was Bailly.. Even in the second half. I remembered him flapping around Silva in the 2nd half. Defenders will always flap around players like Silva once in a while. Doesn't make them bad. Your contribution over 90 minutes determines if you're ok. |

Lana1: Bailly this, Bailly that. His first real test and he was bullied all over the place by Ihenacho. So if na Aguero nko?? But he did play better in d 2nd half.
And all this persistence with Blind as CB will only come back to bite us in the ass eventually.he was asleep all through the first half. Out of position for the 2nd goal. And do i really need to lament about the first?? Abeg nobody send ball playing defender. Stones and Otamendi, how many passes were they stringing forward today??
Pair Smalling and Bailly and lets ve some steel in our defence. All dis Bailly and Blind na nonsense. Their first test of the season, and they both flopped badly. Bailey was good and you know why am saying this? His performance in the 2nd half. The defence had little protection and they came top even when they were out numbered. Na that ball playing part dey annoy me pass. If it's ball playing Smalling is very good at pushing balls into the midfield to attack. I expect Smalling to either be paired with Bailly or pushed up as a cover to the defence so Pogba and co can have fun up front. Am sure a Smalling on Debruyne would have calmed him down with some roughing. |

I believe the solution to Pogba case is a 3 man midfield so he can get the free role he is looking for with 2 guys behind him to assist him. |

Diademk07: That habit aint good.. Mourinho should try his best to afford criticising his player in the media..
We the fans can lambast them all day but the coach shouldn't. Yeah I agree but he said it was his fault. He didn't mention any player's name did he? I only hope Miki and lingard are both allowed to start the next match so they can correct their mistakes. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 3:47pm On Sep 10, 2016 |
Lana1: Nice game. But really disappointed we had to lose. 1. Mhki shouldn't ve started. He was losing possession too much.
2. Lingard dat hasn't played in weeks, and he suddenly jumped into the starting 11 in a derby match?? Mourinho Bleep up. Lingard lost the ball more times dan i could count. That boy is just an average joe who should be far away from the starting 11. Impact sub?? Maybe.
3. That City defence was shît. And so was Bravo. We just didn't put enough pressure on them. And we couldn't even hold the ball to save our own lives. And as such, we allowed City to play their game.
4. The way we started the 2nd half was the way we should ve started the first. The teams wers equal. And City were very beatable. Hope Mourinho learns from this Mou couldn't have known Miki would flop Some people here have been crying for lingard to start. Don't let them see this. Though I think he started on the wrong side. |

dmcdad: Whatever the case is... Its not their fault Mourinho played the aforementioned duo. Although in his post match presser, he did highlight the fact that some of the players he put his trust on failed him, I guess alluding to the poor performances from those 2.
Anyway, it was a worthy derby. I really give City the praise cause they played outstandingly well albeit without their starman upfront. I imagine if he were present in all those counter attacks they had, it would probably have been a different kettle of fish. I agree. If city were that good they could have finished United on the counter. It was obvious in the second half that they had a lucky break. |

dmcdad: City impressed me. They exceeded my expectation. The defence I was afraid of did great in containing United, and especially Ibrahimovic. They were able to contain Ibra because Lingard and Miki couldn't hold their own side of the bargain. Of course you don't expect Ibra to beat 3 4 defenders to score a goal or do you? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 3:13pm On Sep 10, 2016 |
SailorXY: Statistics suggest the first half was really poor cuz I didn't see much wrong for the 40mins I viewed.
Pogba need to do much better attacking & this is why I advocate a 3 man midfield. Either Schneiderlin or Herrera should join the CMF & release Pogba going forward. This is the only way we can get good value. Besides I didn't see the midfield prowess from Man City many people seem to be raving about.
Smalling & Bailly should be our pairing. These men together will be indomitable.
& Zlatan should have gotten more than a fücking goal! I agree with the 3 man midfield but then Rooney won't have any place in the team which is a taboo. If only Miki upped his game city would have been sorry by now. He was bullied and he gave up too easily. I can't afford to drop Smalling as a coach. Those justifying this I hope they see reason. |

capricornian: Yes to some extent but POgba was bought to control our games which he didn't. He disappointed us and Mou more. ROONEY played like a player who knows or knew what the match is all about... the stake and pride and everything. he really played well If you noticed there was always two men on Pogba. He needs to learn to release the ball. Honeymoon is over! |

Kudos to City. They had their 1st half spot on. United didn't know what hit them till the 1st half was over. Hopefully lessons learnt for mourinho. But when I think of it I think Mourinho was let down by Miki and Lingard. What a betrayal |

Diademk07: Debruyne keeps tussling with Felliani because he's the one bombing forward out of the 2 (Silva, De bruyne). If you ask me I say Fellaini was overwhelmed in the first half because he was not helped. You can't expect much when it's two against 1. If Rooney Mkhi Rashford and Pogba were not always losing their balls easily in the 1st half we wouldn't be in this position. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 1:55pm On Sep 10, 2016 |

Diademk07: Maybe but you need that particular playmaker also..
For example, Bayern under pep never in control vs Barca side with Xavi in it.
Despite the fact that Fellaini has been on D. Silva's neck in the game, he's been the one creating plenty of space for Debryne to exploit. Take him out and you have Debryne ineffective. Xavi was a master! There are very few people like him. In fact I don't know of any. If Fellaini is on Silva who is on Debrune? |

Lana1: Mourinho na confam mumu. Mkhitaryan wey neva get used to EPL. Picked up a knock midweek and still started him?? Boy was just losing possession all over the pitch. An off form Martial would ve been a better option.
And una wey want Blind at CB, hope u are happy. Baba has been useless in defence Something is definitely wrong with Miki. He is better than this. Unless if he is nursing an injury but I don't think mourinho will start an injured player. I wouldn't put Smalling on the bench. If I have to push Val forward to accommodate Small I would. Ibra needs those Val crosses |

We would have to get a playmaker alongside him if we want to get the best out of him.. That was why Miki was brought in but he has to be pushed to the side to accommodate Rooney. Well right now he is being so ineffective. Lingard should get back to the right |
