AirBay: No sir, I clearly remember my bills excludes water bills and it was stated on the agreement BUT unfortunately I did not take the tenancy agreement papers with me when I left.
AirBay: Yes at that time, i do receive calls and letters but It was always indians calling and requesting me to pay to a bank account. But how did it affect my CS?
Thanks for your response.
what credit score company did you use? you can use expirian it will give you more indept details, I know its not free but you got to pay to put your mind at ease
Please I have a challenge, I don't know how to rectify it. Kindly suggest any way out.
I studied in the UK in 2017 to 2019, last weekend I was playing with a Credit score web page, to my surprise I had a score of 600 I definitely did not owe anyone or applied for any credit card in my mind o.
I proceeded to check my profile and saw a debt of £750 to Yorkshire water and my name was listed as house owner.
I paid all my rent to the landlord and of course I am not a house owner and I was not required to pay water bills when I rented the apartment. I used a prepaid meter for both electricity and heating.
How can I solve this?
1st off verify the debt is truely in your name,I have had countless letters even calls and Emails stating I owe this and that, trust me it was all fraud. Now to clear your mind first instance, what is the name of the debt recovery company? Google them if they exist and if they do, then go to the website of Yorkshire water and get thier official number call them if indeed the bill belongs to you.
justwise: University can only offer discount to a student who was promised inclass lectures then it turns out the opposite direction otherwise no they should not. Do you know that many Nigerians have paid thousands in tuition fee deposit and still studying online from Nigeria while waiting for visa? I mean.. how silly? The idea of travelling abroad for studies in this pandemic and economic free fall is a really bad one.
Tell them not to and you will be called enemy of progress
This is sad though plus the high cost of Data in Nigeria.Oh well the world is cahnging and we al have to adapt to it.This would be a very bad time for anyone coming to the west, but come to think of it, people truely believe this virus is a joke if not tell me why you would want to go to a WAR region
brine: Absolutely unnecessary! BTW, here's the evidence you requested for where you called someone a "learner" . Nothing you say is going to change anyone's personal experience with these banks. I use Barclays and Monzo and I know how easy it was for me setting up my Monzo account as against Barclays.
I did call someone a learner and it was in a context, and if you read it again, I siad ie JJC thats for new commers to the UK,This how some of us here jump into uneccesary conclussions and drink panadol 4 some one elses head ache! take ur time
fatima04: Just to answer your question, the challenger banks have flexibility and easy access. Attaching ones financial standing to being on the "electoral roll" or a bill in their name and rejecting them outrightly its not a fair game.
I had issues opening an account for more than 2 months when I just got in. Some of my family members still got rejected from HSBC after staying here for more than 1 year, working, and all.
He provided bills, council tax and still their system didn't just work for some reasons. And same people operate Monzo stressfree
Well I have stopped labouring on this issue but like I said B4, the traditional high street bank are THE banks.Anyone can open a Monzo account even undocumented people. These are almost cashless banks,if you check my old post I did say your financial history plays a role as to if you get an account or not just as when you go to the phone shops to try and get a contract phone or you car finance etc.my 1st bank account was with Royal Bank of scotland I think all I had then was my student ID, Passport, proof of where I was living and proof of my small Income then thats it.But I guess things has changed loads now.
Most of those that have commented have done so from the strength of their personal experience but rather than take it in it's stride, you chose to call them JJC.
On the flip, you are the same person speaking of being disrespected.
You can't change the perception of people's personal experience... Know this and know peace.
An extreemly Ignorant person you are, please read again and direct me to where I called any of the posters Im having a discussion with JJC please!
Mimzyy: That bros is old school truly #runningaway.
which Old school or you jst dey follow follow?.as far back as in the early 2000s Barclays and all high street banks had digital banking.till date r still there.calling them old school is like calling bmw old school. These are not like 1st bank v diamond bank in 9ja.These are pace setters and any kind of new ways to bank comes from them.
DisGuy: Bros, you wanna see my statement? Was charged last time I used it in naija, was also charged in Houston. Just last week made payment for products in ghana was charged, pennies but still charge na charge
next time go into the app and inform them of going abroad.
wonlasewonimi: So, you actually believed him telling lies about not being charged in Nigeria lol
This is disrespectful coming from you.how about if I said all the craap you have been saying are lies even when none of yous could tell me a single difference btw what tech digital banks offers more than high streets. u lot are going round like football.
Garrison JUNCTION FLYOVER Port Harcourt has been completed.
THis guy nah bad guy Pls finish that Rumukoro own so that the people can fly straight accross there via teh east west road.I hate that hold up and isrealite journey fru sars rd
Aphrodite007: No sweetheart, I assure you, it has happened to my friends before. You put in the OTP it whatever, and they still hold back the money. Just because they think it’s fraud or scam. Besides, to pay tuition, you must do a transfer not a payment. So she actually sent the money, they stalled it but didn’t inform her. How is that good service?
I get that bit, Im not arguing on that, any system that has vast part of it as customer service will perform low at some point, if you go to Metro bank which is the newest high street bank in the Uk in 34 years you will see they are very customer focused, they even open on Sundays and close 7 pm weekdays them dey look for customers,My argument is this, Any kind of tech platform the Digital banks has, the high street has the equivalent if not far better,if you check the Billions they have paid as repayment cos of fraud you will understand why they have to do this and this is free banking dont forget. My point is this and simple, the Digital bankingdoes not have more tech than the trditional High street banks.
Mamatukwas: It’s making me laugh how you are arguing with your full chest against people’s personal experiences . When we 1st moved here. Santander did not open an account for me. The ‘system’ rejected the Staffs attempt to open for me. Barclays needed me to book an appointment and come in to open an account. I came here and someone advised Starling. They opened in 1 day and it’s been a dream since.
I’ve since opened with Barclays and BOS but Starling beats them all hands down for convenience, ease of use and client intuitiveness.
I’m not saying the old banks are bad. But challenger ‘online’ only banks definitely have things to offer that they don’t. They are DEFINITELY more nimble and responsive. That alone is enough for me.
I understand your sentiments sha... it’s obvious you may not be a spring chicken like my own oga Sanu.
So you are telling me you went to Santander with your proof to live i n the Uk and proof of adress a system they have refused to open an account for you am I right?
Bourne007: That's the whole concept of 'digital banking'
there you go again, there are certain part of banking digital banking can not complete or compete, they lose in these part, and any thing digital banking has, the High street banks long had on thier online platform,Somethng as simple as chip n Pin was brought in by |High street banks
wonlasewonimi: Erico bros, you have to move with time, you cant afford to be stuck in the dark age. In the last couple of years, we have changed how we shop(Amazon etc), how we listen to music(spotify, souncloud), how we watch movies(Netflix), how we commute (uber, tesla), how we live (smarthomes IoTs). The only thing left is banking.
This is what informed these highly available and resilient new banks. They challenged the regulators that they can build a bank from scratch that can compete with old banks and provide service. And, this is what they have done. Most of the features that make these banks different are being copied by the old banks as we speak and that tells you they are doing something right.
Let me burst your bubble, the hsbc, halifax natwest etc are now using machines in their banking halls. They are even closing some branches down. The ones they havent closed, just try and walk-in to see if they would not tell you to go and make your request online. So, what is the point of your brick and mortar?
Anne Boden, the ceo even said they built the bank in such a way that they can even run it from starbucks
i am planning to work for them
You have not said anything new,Let me ask you this simple question just be honest and brief, What do these so called new digital Bank do in terms of tech that the Old banks. dont??name just o ne please
Aphrodite007: Yes I’m used to bank processes and I know why they flagged it. But this is so like Barclays, they have done this to friends before.
Normally UK unis let you pay a certain percentage to get the CAS but you will be asked to pay the remaining 3k at a certain time (before uni starts). So it seems the lady must have sent the 3k and Barclays flagged it and stalled the transfer. Now rather than call to confirm, they just assumed it was fraudulent or scam.
The have a fraud alert system if your transactions falls withing those parameters your account will be locked untill the account holder verifies it,if you ask me I will say this is roburst 3rd layer security!,If you have thier APp, there is duct you click to i nform them you are going abroad etc to jump stories that torchooooo
DisGuy: Barclays and bros will be charging fees and exchange covering for spending money Europe nonsense and oldies...
charging what fees? last time I was i n 9ja, I used my debit card to withdraw money at Uniport 3 times 20k naira each time N60k for the night no charge,
Aphrodite007: Leemao! Let me keep quiet and be walking since my 5 years financial history is nothing and I’m now JJC.
Someone is telling you about bank that makes life easy; bank that’s close to their customers, bank that’s usi nig technologies you bridge the gap.. but you’re talking about financial history and comparing those archaic banks that don’t know anything about empathy, relationship building and loyalty to challenger banks. LoL
All Barclays had to do was place a call to understand what happened. Why freeze the bank and make the students acceptance get withdrawn. And that’s what you call a bank? Shior!
You don’t know good service even if it hits you.
lol you are funnny, let me stop you there b4 you go 4ward, for you bank to block your transaction you must have put a 2 point check on it of which you did not complete,,if they send you a code and you did not respond within a frame of time it would be blocked, these are what the banks now do as they have paid billions of money back to customersSo how is it their fault when you as a customer signed up to go woth thier two stage verification and you do not follow suit.?I keep asking what do them banks do that barclays dont do?All tehm banks they are talking about I call kids bank are Online banks,Most of them wont open an account to a fresh person ,most of them will need you to have some sort of financial history with other banks.I disagree about the dificulty to open an account with banks like HSBC or barclays,If you have valid ID and proof of address with £1 your account is opened there and then 3 days later you get your debit card.It only becomes deficult when you dont have valid documentation. Also clling Barclays,HSBC and Natwest old bank sounds funny cos they are Pioneers, they are all up to date in Tech, there is nothing any bank has in the world that tehy do not have,if you think of any Tech them online banks have that the High street banks lack pls let me know
Mimzyy: Lolzzz na wah! I have both Barclays and Starling and I’ll gladly pick Starling over Barclays anytime. If that makes me a child then so be it
yes, Una go jst sidon dey look 4 trouble upandown madam mimi nor follow wonlasewonimi ohhh nahim know wetin E dey find with al those bank wey nor get branch!
wonlasewonimi: This guy, you really think you're talking to someone fresh off the boat abi What an achievement to have been banking in UK for more than 20years..Your award is in the post mate!
well when you start using the term Old generation bank on high street banks that have managed to go staffless you sure sound like a freshyyyy
Samsonmike22: In a recent interview, fast rising Nollywood actress Ugonma Kalu open up on how Nigerian actresses fund their luxurious lifestyle.
The Igbo born thespian also talked about sex for role in Nollywood and her personal life.
1: How was growing up like?
Growing up has never been easy. There is always high tide and low tide.
I am the last Child of my mum and as of then the last child in the family. My parents were, at times, a bit more strict and my elderly ones too. We are Catholics so i grew up in a religious Christian background where they often tell me don't do this or that!
2: Why did you decide to go into acting?
I will say it is a passion, i started with primary school drama. The passion kept pushing me that while seeking University admission, i wanted to study Theatre Art. I have always loved creativity and entertainment.
3: Does acting fund your luxurious lifestyle?
It will be wrong for anyone to solely depend on a particular profession or source of income presently with the unstable economy we have in Nigeria. Like the say, you can't store your eggs in one basket. But there's money in acting just keep pushing.
4: Are you in a relationship? With who?
That's personal, not sure I want to reveal that.
5: Can you date an actor?
Hmmmmm! I can't oh! I think we both will be too busy for each other abeg
6: What's your take on sex for role in Nollywood, have you ever experienced such? How do you handle it?
I hear people talk about these matter, funny enough i have never been approached on that. Most directors i know and have worked with are just responsible and strict.
Maybe it happened before, here, most directors are professionals besides why on earth will you subject yourself to that point. I can't give you sex for a role, knowing i am good in my job. Sex should be a two way thing. Something must make us do it.
6: Who is your role model and why?
My mother, because she is a giver.
7: Your celebrity crush?
Omg! Kalu ikeagwu
8: It's alleged that most actresses sleep with sugar daddies to make ends meet, how do you respond to that?
What did you call it? Sugar daddies, any daddy that is sugar should also be delicious to taste! I am just joking oh! To me it's personal, anyhow anyone can make ends meet as far as it is not deadly and evil to me it's fine. Sugar daddies or sweet mummie, sugarboy ooh, i careless.
9: How often do you have sex?
Aaaaah!!! Honestly, I love sex. As long as you can satisfy me very well, we can have it as much as we want, even 5 times daily.
10: How can the Nigerian movie industry be improved?
The Nigerian movie Industry however leaves much to be desired. A zillion movies are reeled off the industry every single week but only a handful will give you a run for your money. The vast majority of Nigerian movies are poorly directed, poorly edited and even when the plot is great, it is often botched because the actors interpret it poorly. To improve the industry I've these few things to say.
First, take the time to edit your videos right. Run re-takes where it is necessary to do so and make sure you get your sound and lighting right.
Secondly, you don’t have to use those whack custom sound tracks throughout the movie. It just doesn’t sound hip.
Also, stop using one particular person in movies, there are so many and alot talented actors out there who most times do better than the everyday faces. All you need is to build them.
Most times it is same actor, same locations, same costumes same crew, same everything. It is called a talent and entertainment show, we should be versatile.
Lastly, do not allow your script to be so damn predictable. we don’t want to guess where every movie is going and be right ever single time. Thank you
11: What lasting solution can you suggest on the unrest happening in Nigeria over Police brutality and corruption?
This is a revolution, we have woken up. The solution is from the root not the top, how do i mean, discovery movements which the youths have started already. Let all these old politicians go, amend some of our constitution and get the entire police force reformed.
