ufotunang:But why do Nigerians keep allowing themselves to be fooled all the time? Between 1999 and 2014 when the Naira was very stable and strong almost sold/bought at same rates both at official and parallel markets, how many companies were exporting goods in Nigeria? Investors were seen all over. We should be promoting Export yes, but that's not the cause of our problem. Have you ever wondered why naira was so strong and a bit above 100 naira when obj and yaradua were in government and crude was selling between 30 and 40USD a barrel? Nigeria's economic problem is nothing but leadership. There are several countries in the western world who don't Export like Nigeria but are doing fine economically. They don't even have oil. Under Buhari's nose, government officials and their wives were thronging the CBN, buying dollars and reselling at a whopping sum. Buhari's wife was accused of this on one occasion which she denied. You know in Nigeria, there can't be smoke without fire and every runour from them end up being a fact. Under the Buhari's administration, a single man stole over 100bn , returned 30bn and was left alone. There are several of such , those who have stolen much more but are still walking freely today cos they were never caught. Tell me, which country would fare economically better under such a heavy burden of corruption? As you can see, the west had stopped giving us grants unlike in the past. They've also reduced this where it was termed inevitable. They knew their money would end up in individuals pockets. Today, we have a highly controversial human being in government. Which country would take us seriously? Who would come and invest here where there's uncertainty, insecurity caused by the same leaders but had grown wings past what they could quell? No usd coming in as grants or investments rather, multinationals are quitting our country. What do you expect? We never had it so bad as a country. Once we get leadership right, corruption would be nipped in the bud and our economy would fare better. You don't need to preach to investors. They know our terrain much better than we may think. They'd come on thenr own and invest. Even the Export, which could have improved our economy has been grossly discouraged due to fx scarcity. Dangote won't grind limestone and bag them for sale. There are chemicals which would be added to it to make up a bag of cement. How much do you think he'd buy those chemicals which aren't produced locally? If he comes on air tomorrow and says his cement is now 9k a bag, don't scream because he's gonna buy these chemicals at 1k per dollar rate. Same applies to other local industries who would need one material or the other to make finished goods. What about plants and equipment which they'd need to use dollar to buy? All these would add to the cost of finished products. By the time they determine their prices per unit of the products to be sold in the foreign markets, they'd not be able to compete cos they'd become more expensive. Why do you think people keep smuggling rice? You want to assist farmers with loan but gave the money to governors in their respective states, who would only share a few to their cronies and squander the rest. What happened to bank of agriculture ? If the right people get the right agriculture loans, rice will become pure water in Nigeria. Get rid of bad leaders and all will be well. No foreign investor will come unless we get things right . We also can't promote Export under bad leadership. The atmosphere is quite frustrating. |
Nigerians, please what exactly is happening to us...in just 4 months? I don't get it |
It rebrands or further portrays Nigeria as a bad country. I'd urge everyone to leave this man to teach Nigerians a lesson for the next 4 years. We deserve it. If you force yourself into power but the international communities are unwilling to assist you with grants and refused to bring money for investment, what would you do? Since Tinubu assumed office, no single achievement in foreign investments rather, multinationals are leaving. We only hear fake news here and there. They even told us UAE had lifted visa ban on Nigerians which later turned out to be fake news as UAE debunked it. I was even happy cos I was planning to take my family to UAE this December and visit Oman, also visit Saudi Arabia as non-muslim with their tourist visa before I learnt visa ban lifting news was fake news. We should expect more of such lies in the next 4 years. In Nigeria, criminals are seen as saints in our court of law. How the forfeiture of nearly 500k usd, which a low cadre American doesn't see in this/her entire working life is seen as a civil case won't be viewed that way if tinubu were a Briton or American. He'd be eating beans for the rest of his life. A forfeiture as a result of drug business is criminal offence. I can't allow one dollar of my hard-earned money to go missing in the bank and I'd not challenge it, not to talk of such a huge sum. Good leadership begets respects |
TemplarLandry:I've encountered it in 2016 in same JFK, same as DC. The DC's experience was during my second visit, in same year. Meanwhile, I've been entering US since 2004, even schooled there |
Sermwell:That's why politicians never trust one another. They like back-stabbing. Your oga say make you come chop, you come dey wish him bad luck. Aketi is one of the few leaders I respect cos he's a true democrat. |
ElSudani:You're not getting it. Being a green card holder is different from being a citizen. As a citizen you don't need Nigerian passport. You've renounced your Nigerian citizenship so, why would you carry your naija passport when you already had a usa passport? Only green card holders do carry our passport. Hope you get |
TemplarLandry:Despite being a regular visitor to US, they've subjected me to secondary inspection several times. Good leadership begets respects. I no dey vex cos I know why. They'd later say, thanks and welcome and give me back my passport. Ordinary kenyan would be let go. Oloun a ko wa yo. This has always been the case, starting from buhari administration. |
Bliss24:Define the word "inflation". That would answer to your question |
Go to any state with low population. You'd get it very fast |
Zeus039:This is a recipe for suicide. I hope people wouldn't tread such a dangerous path |
Don't stop taking risks as a businessman/adult. Only those who do so excel in life. Invest in yourself. Attend conferences relevant to your field abroad, instead of splashing money on cars and luxuries that fade with time. At conferences lie opportunities, which can take you places and make you for life. There are manufacturers and investors who are looking for agents and partners in the foreign markets. You could be one of the opportunistic beings they'd want to partner with and give all the necessary support. They're afraid of penetrating foreign markets due fear of the unknown but always comfortable having reliable partners in foreign markets. 80% of successful SMEs in Nigeria today don't joke with this. No be everybody dey make money via politics rather, politicians need them to fund their campaigns. These exhibitors at conferences are the people you can't ordinarily reach in their countries without observing protocols, applying for visa, spending money on flight tickets and pay hotel bills before you can meet with them...you'd be able to see all of them under same roof, exhibiting. That single connection I made at Anaheim, Ca. some years ago had taken me to meet with Barak Obama at the DAR Hall, near the white House in DC. I had also met Tony Blair after his tenure as UK PM. I never dreamt of it. Please don't always spend all you have on frivolities. I had a friend who had been refused Canadian visa 8 times before finally granted. Today, he owns a mid level logistics company in Canada and Nigeria. He has fleet of trucks in Nigeria. He didn't buy a car even though he had the money to buy one back then. He always spent his money on travels and conferences. Today, he can build any house in any area and buy any car of choice. |
Wisereborn:That phat pig you mean? They're all hungry people. ![]() |
seuncyrus:African countries take precedence from Nigeria on leadership. Look at the so-called leaders, they're same people who have been in givernment since independence. Those who were involved coup in the history of Nigeria all became heads of state and presidents. They still have a hand in Nigeria's treasury. |
tommy589:He was serving a jailterm in calabar while others were in various prisons across the country. It was justice showemimo who was Pa Awo's fellow indigene from Ogun who handed him the jail sentence. Showemimo worked closely with Amodu bello |
I always wonder why yorubas and igbos are always on each other's nerves on social media. It's uncalled for. There's a known enemy to fight instead of attacking one another. During my recent visit to grandma, the nonagenarian, who would soon clock 90 narrated the circumstances surrounding the Aguiyi Ironsi and ojukwu led coup which took the lives of some northern politicians at that time. Igbos and yorubas had long relations in the south, which even predated the colonial era. Aguiyi's chief of staff was a yorubaman, Babafemi Ogundipe. Mama was a senior nurse in that era, one of the early indigenous and first generation and highly respected nurses in that era. First miss Nigeria was her colleague in the nursing profession. The woman is in her early 90s now...Mrs Oyelude. When igbos and yorubas are supposed to be united to achieve a common goal, they're busy fighting themselves. She laughed hysterically, speaking in ekiti dialect...han gbon pęę pęę..meaning they're not wise at all. They can attack each other but they forgot about those who came to the south to avenge their elders who were killed over nepotism and marginalisation of the South which ironsi and ojukwu, Ademoyega, etc had foreseen and eanted ti correct. All those who came to lalupon to kill aguiyi ironsi, in which fajuyi too lost his life later became nigerian military heads of state, except captain TY Danjuma. Murtala muhamed, Buhari, IBB, Gowon and abacha who were all junior and non commission officers from the north later became heads of state while the south kept serving as slaves under them. She said further that, people were in a hurry to attack ojukwu but refused to ask questions why an igbo-born military leader spared Pa Awo's life while all his colleagues from across the country were executed. She blamed southerners for allowing their leaders to keep gaining relevance by instigating hates against each other, just to achieve their selfish political gains and remain perpetual slaves to the north. She asked the below questions which I couldn't answer logically.... Why are the north so united against the south, irrespective of religous and ethic differences and south are always divided against itself? She said the day yorubas and igbo form a United force is when they'd begin achieving meaningful progress as a region and tribe because those across the Niger can't be trusted and they always deliberately want to keep us divided and that's the weapon they keep using to hold sway. She said she was among those who first criticised tinubu for supporting buhari because she knew they would always dribble him to a corner when it gets to his turn because they are betrayals and can never be trusted...and she was right when Ahmed Lawan was being presented instead of the man who sponsored Buhari's electioneering campaigns. But amazingly, he outsmarted all of them otherwise, power would have remained in the north. In conclusion, she made a comment which I didn't like...that even though tinubu isn't the best at this moment, people should see his being president as a means of breaking the jinx of leadership among Southern politicians because he will rewrite history and expose a lot of dirty stuffs as she put it. I'm not a fan of tinubu and I'd never be. That's why I won't take sides with mama on this. He's rewriting history already by unleashing hardship on the common man. On a lighter note, ekiti is such a serene state. I visited Ikogosi, where cold and warm spring met, nice place |
mrvitalis:Don't mind them. What happened to the eleyii of eyii... . The embarrassing word tinubu used on a serving governor of Ogun State, when he's not even president yet. What of ...oshekinni, o lulę, o shekeji, o lulę, oshekęta, o lulę, talking so manmerlessely and disrespectfully to an incumbent leader...the number 1 citizen of Nigeria oo? Rada rada. If I were buhari, I'd have taught him an unforgettable lesson but the gentle man that he was, he kuku ignored his manners. No words could have been more disrespectfully uttered by any man yet, he went away with it. Remember the joke made by that northern student on aisha buhari, which almost landed him in jail? I think buhari knew and understood why he ignored him. Obj's sin was because he didn't support the man with hugely controversial career in politics and education. Baba no send anyone's rants or disapproval lol. I give my respect to obj any day, any time. |
Public institutions wey no get infrastructure, dey strike everyday? |
SURElee:My last paragraph says it all, read again. Nobody is judging anyone. Point of correction, the holy spirit chose for Pa Akindayomi, not by carnal manipulation or preference. There were people who were much better and qualified than him back then. He wasn't even the youngest among them, if a youth leader was what pa Akindayomi was looking for |
Ikaeniyan0:Dey play |
Ikaeniyan0:They've started again . I remember the osun tribunal. Kano governor should just concentrate on governance. He'd be there for 4 good years and if he does well, he'd do 8 |
Hand was the hand of Tinubu and voice was the voice of ganduje. That's my interpretation of the tribunal judgement. Osun tribunal's judgement easily came to mind. The ANPP man shouldn't even bother himself. He should rather concentrate on giving dividends of democracy to his people. |
He was poisoned at a time. He almost died . I think it's the major cause of his strange appearance. He's still recovering but the man no go never wan give himself rest. |
Who can guess where all these borrowed money end up? Politicians' and associates pockets of course. Sadly, they give them these loans without collateral and most of them end up as bad debts. Imagine borrowing that money to invest in our youths. Nobody will consider japa as an option. Sadly the CBN, which is the apex Bank and should play its role as one , by monitoring those loans and ensure full utilisation in key sectors, is always look the other way. Na padi padi stuff. |
bdon123:I don't think Pastor Adeboye would do such. He had said it several times that, none if his sons or any of the senior pastors, would take over from him. He also said the one who would be his successor was still in the world and when the time was ripe, God will draw him to the fold |
gracechellar:How do you profile a pastor ma? By grabbing butts of ladies during acting and kissing them? Cos these and more are what I've personally known him for, for years Unlike nowadays, pastors are being coersed to be pastors, just because their fathers are pastors and heads of churches so that one day, the son would take over. Pastoral work is by calling. God may call the father and not call the son. He calls those he chooses and wills, to do His work and not by selection as seen today. You must hear His voice in your ears that He wants you to work for Him. He searches the heart before doing so. |
zoedew:Exactly. Pastors are role models to their followers. I remember Christ Embassy. Because their leader maintains curly hair, which is natural from birth, most of his followers too do the same. Have you noticed this? What this guy is planning to exhibit is not Christ-like. These are the signs of the last days so, I'm not surprised. Many are already rising and preaching their own doctrines and twisting the word of God to suit their doings, as predicted by the bible |
Psalmistproject:You typed crap, just to justify your stupidity. Only sango (or call it alaafin sango) was the human braiding his hair before the colonialists came in order to make him stand out among other men as king. You dared not braid like alaafin sango did back then. The colonialists action, which you cited to justify your claim was so funny. They shoved slaves hair and not because they braided their hair. It's was the tradition. Once a slave was purchased, they shove the hair and put shackles on their hands and legs. I don't know your tribe but in yoruba land, our forebears never braided hair except sango andnthose worshipping him as god. You can't distort our history for us. Maybe your tribe does and from researches, no tribe in the Nigerian history ever braided hair. Go and look at the oduduwa artefacts and carvings...that will tell you how he looked like. Radarada |
The only support they can give is reducing their allowances and amending our constitution. They're the highest paid in the world. They' should also enforce local government autonomy such that, the grassroots won't be in poverty always. Projects would be executed and contracts would be awarded to the locals. This is what I understand by extension of dividends of democracy to the grassroots. These are the poorest of the poor who are always badly hit by the bad polices of government. But when the local government's allocation comes and the governor takes a chunk of it, despite receiving the state's allocation and doing whatever they like with it, there's little or nothing left for the local government to meet their day to day needs. I doubt they'd do any of these cos most of them at NA are retired governors who are still sharing from what goes to the local government with the incumbent in their various states. |
Lanre1st:There's nothing like old school where the holy spirit leads, instead of choosing with a carnal mind. No wonder the world is crashing all in the name of old school. |
inoki247:Long hair isn't same as a dreadlock |
Hun! wetin he even sabi sef? A nollywood actor always fond of grabbing women in their butts suddenly turned pastor. I wonder what christendom is turning into. Work of God no be wasa oo. It's much more deeper than acting. If you're not truly called, don't go there. You face a lot of attacks spiritually. The devil will tempt you with lusts, covetousness and greed. Once you fall like this, l'obatan. Your church becomes a shadow of itself. The way some denominations are turning Christianity into family affairs nowadays is worrisome. Once the owner dies, his child or wife automatically replaces him. Were all those congregations won for them by God their own? What of their donations? Why not pick one pastor amongst them to succeed the owner?I pity those attending such churches. Jesus Christ is enough as the example. Christianity is a religion and not business empire as many have taken it to be. I wonder why most of these founders and their families didn't emulate Pa Akindayomi, the founder of RCCG who allowed the Holy spirit to pick his successor. I pray for this young man not to fall. It won't be funny at all. See him comparing long hair with dreads . Na wah oo. |
Malroux:Don't mind her. I blame OBJ for not being able to control his thing. If you want to continue to earn your respect as a man, don't titrate everywhere you go. Also, don't try to bring a wounded woman down cos she'd drag you on the floor, just as she's doing now. Once shes gone, close your eyes and ignore her. It's a lesson to all |
