Those politicising this must be buying fuel at 185 naira a liter. The pump price wasn't this high when Tinubu protested after Jonathan declared the removal of subsidy during his administration. Tinubu isn't as wise as people are hyping him. He's only one of the regular politicians who applies smartness to his own game. He only succeed in enriching the oil marketers overnight. The profit each of them made in one week is enough to sustain them for at least, 2 years. Many of them that I know, have tank farms loaded with petrol bought at old rates and they're still selling old stock as we speak. Tinubu should have said, subsidy will go but they'd need to meet with the stake holders and define the best way out of this, just to pamper oil marketers and allow them to exhaust their old stock before declaring the removal. Tinubu isn't wise at all. Nigeria isn't like lagos so, someone needs to tell him this. BRF can attest to this when he was given 3 portfolios , given his achievements in Lagos as governor. Nigeria is a large project. Its very easy to protest and criticise a leader. By the time you get there, you'd realise its no childsplay. Today, I read that Angola cut( not removed) subsidy. That's how it should be, even if he plans to remove it at a later date, it should be gradual. Nigerians are suffering. People trekked a long distance today. I saw them. If you want to chase a mosquito from your scrotum, you apply sense otherwise, you'd hurt yourself and mosquito could still escape. The masses are at the receiving end right now. To those who are politicising it, keep suffering and smiling ok? You removed subsidy without palliatives already in place? Common! I heard Osho Baba speak on channelstv this evening that vehicles wouid be provided as palliative but they won't come in overnight. Imagine! This is what Tinubu should have done before this mess was heaped on the masses... Selling off some of our Refineries to private individuals to complement dangote Refineries production efforts. Stopping the NNPC from solely importing petroleum products. Government has no business running business. All they need do is creation of an enabling environment. When I said Tinubu would be coming to favour the elites, they called me unprintable names. We are now buying petrol at a rate higher than what america sells per liter, without enjoying the benefits Americans are enjoying. There we are. |
Who gave this man a mic to speak? You selfish old man? Mtchwew |
Tareq1105:Lol. Okay naw, they'd also buy commodities cheaper at special markets |
North and South west will buy fuel at 180 naira a liter |
olatade:If same tinubu could protest and force Jonathan to drop subsidy removal, he must be made to have a rethink too. Know this hard fact, this policy will only make you suffer while the rich will keep smiling to the bank. I support the protest 💯% . If they want to remove subsidy, they know what to do. NNPC must hands off importation of petroleum products. NNPC is the rich's conduit pipe. Again, tell them to sell all our refineries and stop carrying out fake TAM every time, which always enriches them and issue more refinery licences. You'd see fuel price drop to less than 200 naira. Our consumption isn't much. We shouldn't be suffering as an oil producing nation. At the new price .Nigeria is buying at same pump price as USA....a poor nation as ours. USA sells at 1.02usd per liter I remember a time I was telling my friend from Taraba state in 2000, that if Nitel could be privatised and companies were issued licence to operate telecoms, almost everyone would have a phone in their house. I didn't even have a deep knowledge of how GSM operated that time. See what's happening today? A cart pusher has at least, one GSM phone. Tinubu knows what to do. I knew his government won't favour the masses and that's why i didn't waste my time voting him. My worry is his pioicy because that's where I'm going to be affected in a way. He's not there to govern but to register his name as one of the presidents who once ruled Nigeria. |
Merry100:When you're in Rome, you behave like romans, simple. You can't go to cele and wear shoes into their church. If their denomination forbids a manner of dressing, it's not a bad thing if you comply. It's like asking ahmadiyya Muslims or the followers of El-Zakzaky to go to a Sunni Muslim's mosque to worship. It won't happen. Whereas, they worship same Allah. |
slawomir:Contrary to your opinion, he may be looking for them for the sake of family reunion. The guy doesn't look hungry in his twitter handle. |
Rubbiish:He's not wise at all |
inoki247:Stop thinking upside down..so, if they buy at a higher cost later, they'd also sell at a low cost? They're selling the old stock at the current rate at the moment. Many of them have tank farms which cant be exhausted in one month. Tinubu isn't as intelligent as most of you guys think. He should have said there would be removal of subsidy but they'd have to sit down and discuss with the marketers. Then he'd tell the stakeholders to allow them exhaust old stock and create artifical scarcity for a few days, then he'd have spent like a month in power. Suddenly, he'd just announce the new rate. Then the marketers would have been serial losers. He's only impoverishing the poor with that stupid speech be made. Who's now groaning...the marketers who are cashing out big time or you wey vote tinubu wey dey buy fuel for 500 naira a liter? |
Foolish man with a foolish policy. He'd know lagos isn't Nigeria soonest. He should go and ask BRF |
Racoon:We all knew his motive from the beginning..I had said severally in the past that Apapa was being sponsored by Tinubu. |
emmyN:Yes, we had the demand that was more than supply at the CBN's unrealistic rates. Now, dollars will be available but at the newly devalued rates cos everyone who goes for bidding will get. Our foreign exchange earnings still remains crude. This has appreciated greatly in price for over a year now. Don't believe them when they say there's no Dollar. Its a big lie. Its the rates that aren't realistic. |
BigIyanga:Fx would only increase from the official rate of 460 to 630. The parallel market would be a bit favoured. Dollar would soon be bought at the rate of 650/660 at the parallel market. We once had this experience some years back when the official rate and the bdc's rate was almost the same. That is what will happen, going forward because everyone, including the bdcs who bid will get fx. Dollar will be available to all but not at the old rate anymore. Its happening already. |
KingAzubuike:Buhari's lifestyle is so simple, which was why I voted him in the past. This man was wearing his old banaringa as president for months. Had he circulated himself with intelligent people and fellows of like-mind, his government would have fated better than those who ruled before him. The nepotism he's known for didn't allow him to pick good brains from across Nigeria. |
BennyDGreat:That's a good question,..how sustainable? |
He said...every one will now have acces to fx. Just like I said a few minutes ago, if you hoard dollars thinking you'd sell at 755 or higher, I pity you. Don't come here and be crying later. Sell now cos dollar will soon trade for 655 naira at the bdc the CBN's recent policy has given the bdcs the opportunity to bid. Almost all those who bidded yesterday got and sold at 715. Its expected to fall further soon and both the official and black market rates won't be much as we once experienced some years back. |
I'd advise those still hoarding dollars in anticipation of selling at 755 to begin selling sharply. Dollars fell to 715 naira at the black market yesterday. The implication of the recent policy is, dollar will be made available to anyone who needs it at 635, including the bdcs. The difference between the official and black market rates won't be much, as we once had it some years back. I see dollar trading at 655 at the black market soon cos it will be available to every bidder, including the BDCs if you now wish to approach the bank to get fx at the official rate, you'd need to present your TCC to enjoy the rate difference |
LagosFirstSon:Hasn't he stolen enough? He should have considered his people who put him there first. Its not a family heritage. Its a public office. If you were elected governor and served just for 2 years in any state in Nigeria, your next generation won't smell.poverty again. These guys are super greedy. |
Ekemini11:What do you expect? Most of them are anti-obi and fake news careers . I hardly make political comments on NL anymore, if you noticed. These guys are so biased. If you appear to be too vocal, they hand you a ban for days. |
We asked this man to resign but he refused. The Akure medic who's always accompanying him to Germany every 3 months for the Therapeutic Plasma Exchange also did same. Any way, wetin I sabi? That's Nigerian politicians for you |
That's politician for you. They want to occipy that office by pretending to be nice to the masses ![]() Just like some people had said, we pray not to say Buhari's regime was better. How can Nigeria be buying petrol at a price higher than the US is selling to their people, a country that has great plans for their citizens, where almost everything is being done to protect the citizens? America is a rich country..they see their citizens as their first project. Where wouid the masses now see that money to buy fuel at 700 naira? I bought at 500 naira a liter today at a Conoil station in Lagos . Its 1k in some other places. |
Wetin concern me. I'm here, just to read comments |
Moni no dey reach these men. Nosa happens to be the first multimillionaire photographer I knew in this era. Fototek reigned from 70s to 90s |

Confession time. When Buhari was there, who dared say pim? The old man is nothing but a failure. He really disappointed those of us who voted and worked for him in 2015 due to his antecedents, without expecting anything in return. More shocking revelations coming. I may not be a fan of Jonathan but he always visited prisons, efcc , dss and other agencies to see how inmates and staff were faring. Obj was fond of that too. Baba no just send. Na to dey attend mata wey no concern am overseas cos of the estacode he'd get. |
Nigerians are getting what they deserve lol. In USA, the country that has crude and still stockpiling, sells their petrol at 1.012/ liter, far lower than a poor country like Nigeria. Poverty level will increase, inflation will soar, crime will also increase. The federal government knows what to do but since they deliberately chose to run with the hares and hunt with the hounds, na those wey put them there go suffer am pass. They're same people benefiting from subsidy. Soon we'd hear another story that subsidy is still being partly-paid. We said don't vote for these people but you refused. Wailing never start. |
conquerorsword:Consult God and you would never make mistakes |
babs4all:Present both always, since you still had a valid Shengen visa on the other passport with less than 6 months validity. The immigration will only stamp on the new passport for admittance |
stunnert:That we have fake prophets amongst us doesn't negate the existence of God. You dont have to say religion is for the gullible. If you don't believe in the existence of God, its your business. After all, nobody is forcing you to believe God or belong to a particular faith. Its your choice. In the bible, fake prophets were also in existence so there's nothing new. People should know whom they believe and serve God with a pure heart. Religion is a personal thing, not by worshipping pastors ,many of whom God doesn't even recognise as His |
This was his style and look when MKO met them doing their stuffs along lagos-ibadan expressway. The rest was history. The antecedents of most of the so called leaders today,.if visited would drive Nigeria into chaos. |
The last time I checked, 1 dollar was 749 naira, what was 420 naira at the black market in 2015. What an achievement |
Imagine kenyatta now being a vocal voice in the Nigerian political space. Since we've refused to fit-into the giants of Africa's position which we deserve, someone else would occupy it. We should be the one advising Kenya this way. Kenya has been able to prove to the world that the best system of government remains democracy, Ghana too. Their style of politics was all-inclusive. Obj tried to behave that way too. RIP to Chief Bola Ige, an AD partyman who was appointed AJ in a pdp-led administration. |
