How did he do it? |
TemplarLandry:Which lesson exactly? Everyone cannot be a bad person. Ambode chose to be different and the result is there for everyone to see today. Rather, they need to learn from ambode if they're wise. We recorded budget surplus for the first time since pa jakande era in the 80s in lagos during ambode tenure. Go and find out. I'd not be surprised if it was tinubu who invited him to that gathering cos he's not been seen with them since he was removed for not doing their bidding. That guy is super intelligent |
jumper524:But we're the cause of this one. If your home is tidied, flies won't come in. Our crude export has always given us paltry IGR yet our currency remained one of the strongest in the world. Are you aware ce fa is now stronger than naira? When last did you see cotonou maids coming here to work? They used to come cos of our strong currency. By the time they changed it to cefa, ground go do full. Go and check how much naira was to dollar when obj was in power and crude was sold for less than 50usd a barrel. Maybe you'd understand the meaning of bad economic policies of govt |
This is what people do in America for free and without looking back. When the country's leader is doing his best to make the people smile and not make them cry, people always reciprocate in one way or the other. Millions of people across the globe today were beneficiaries of scholarships from lone sponsors in America, Germany and some parts of Asia. Many of them died centuries ago, when most of the beneficiaries were yet to be born. . Here in Nigeria, the reverse is the case. How do you expect companies and individuals to embark on such a just cause when their leaders are thieves and their children are beneficiary of fraud dealings orchestrated by their fathers? There are people in Nigeria who can refurbish national stadium free of charge even build and donate an airport or a hanger to the federal government. But how can they do this when Hadi Sirika, the immediate past aviation minister was involved in the Nigeria Air scam? I know of 2 Nigerians in America who built houses, libraries, organised coaching classes, etc for the people in their communities without expecting anything in return. It's because their leaders are helping the people. They make the environment liveable and business-friendly. One of them is in north carolina he's a multi billionaire silently, maybe cos of his religious and modest lifestyle. He owns one of the leading sewage companies over there. The other was an ibadan-born mechanic who migrated in the early 80s. He owns one of the famous auto garages in America located in Buffalo, NY today Nigeria craves a leader who would lead by example. The one who would guarantee people's sense of belonging in the Nigerian project. We're not there yet. This ogun man deserves some encouragement |
HanisahZuwy:There's something that's trending now. That thing is estate development. You see the advert everywhere... Buy house, buy land etc. Look for what you think would sell in this sector, eg, smart home appliances, smart city devices. Nigerians are yet to explore this sector. You may be the first to key into this and jelo, for life. Good luck. |
richmond500:imagine. What happens to luxury buses? Can't those serving politicians you mentioned enter 2 or 3 bullet proof ac buses from the airport the same way law makers always did from national assembly each time they went to go see buhari? Same buses would have teken them back to the airport. Defending madness isn't good. If that wasn't madness, wonder what it was |
HanisahZuwy:Don't waste your money and efforts bro. It's already on konga. They'd spoil the maket for you. Look for other unique things to order. Good luck

YinkaOlusesi16:It's not everywhere in the south you'd find northern food. Go to Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, and Ogun States..they grow their own food. Also, go to Edo, Delta up to the south east. They grow their own food too. There's a town in Osun called Ikoyi. If you drive down like 2 km you'd find tomatoes grown on 100s of acres of land. It's the same specie grown in the north. There's a place called site 1 and site 2 in same area in osun, which share boundaries with Ijebu ode. That's the largest tomatoes farm in Nigeria which people won't let you know about. No irrigation, nothing. I'd only agree if you say we eat meat produced by northerners but still, most of those cows you see them bring to us are imported from Niger. Again, I can agree if you say since 1960, lagos had been eating the northern food. Cos its only here you can find such. There's no land to cultivate and people are mostly salary earners. |
Is the UN sure the figure isn't more than this? |
Parachoco:Personalise it. Say you're ready to suffer by buying fuel at the current price today. Be ready to buy even at 800 naira and then, experience the utopian enjoyment tomorrow ok? Go and check Angola's profile on the list of oil producing countries. They didn't utterly remove subsidy rather, they reduced it to alleviate the sufferings on their people..it's the people first anyway and that's how it should be in every country that has a leader who was elected by the people. Here in Nigeria, Tinubu removed subsidy completely without first reeling out palliatives. That he's never suffered doesn't mean the masses are doing well with their lives. It's just like putting a cart before a horse. People should be prepared for the worst cos nothing goes up in Nigeria ever comes down. Tinubu knows what to do to stop those benefitting from subsidy fraud. It's not a rocket science but for the reasons best known to him, he chose not to do that. Go and check the flight ticket today. The money can buy you a piece of land |
LordofNaija:He's a former governor in the south (could be south west, south south or south east), very popular, a lawyer and a former minister |
And that makes our specie more potent and active in tackling certain medical conditions. Nigeria is losing billions of dollars in earnings by not allowing this to fly. We can regulate it. Mallam will always be Mallam in their shallow way of thinking. I remember when they said GSM revolution would hurt their earnings from the sector, if permitted, when abacha was in power. Kingibe and Co said it on the national TV back then. Now, they're making 10 times more in earnings from telecoms. I don't even want to talk of the millions of Nigerians who have benefited from this, in one way or the other in employment generation and tech-related opportunities. Many have access to the social media accounts today via data on their GSM phones. Governor Akeredolu once advocated for this. They once said Nigeria can't use atms but today, we have them installed not only in banks but in hidden malls . Those discouraging this from flying are the most abusers of cannabis. There's a former Governor I know, who was seen smoking it after a football match with his friends ended on a weekend in a popular stadium. My brother, who accompanied one of the ex governor's friends to the stadium for the match saw him. |
God1000:I'm beginning to hate him already. He lacks discipline |
In recent times, Nigerians have had to suspend their travel plans to the United States and Europe as a result of the increase in fares which has tripled as a result of the high exchange rate for ticket pricing. BusinessDay’s investigations show that an economy class ticket from Lagos to London and Lagos to France and most European countries which cost around N1.5 million a month ago, now cost an average of N1.9 million to N2.2 million depending airline. Also, an economy class ticket from Lagos to the United States which cost about N1.7 million a month ago is currently priced between N2.2 million and N2. 6million. The cost of airfares from Nigeria to various destinations has seen a sharp rise since the exchange rate for ticket pricing hit over N760/$, The development came a few days after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) floated the naira and directed commercial banks to sell foreign exchange at market-determined rates. The CBN said all forex windows should be collapsed into the Investors &Exporters Window. Days after the decision, the exchange rate has since fluctuated on the International Air Transport Association (IATA) platform from 663.04/$ to now N770/$. Nigerian travellers have quickly had to respond to the increase by suspending their travel plans to Europe and the United States. “Never have tickets been sold so expensive in Nigeria before. How can I buy a Lagos to London ticket for over N2 million? This is more than just a rise. It is exorbitant and I’m sure the average traveller can’t afford this at this time when we have an economic downturn,” Philip Onuh told BusinessDay. Onuh said he had plans to visit his family next month in New York but he has had to suspend his travel plans as a result of the rise in tickets. “I could not afford to pay tickets for my family to come over to Nigeria for summer because airlines had blocked all their low ticket prices on their websites, making the cost of fares high. So I planned to go and see them instead to reduce the expenditure on travel. However, to my greatest surprise, when I was ready to book my ticket, I found out tickets had again risen to N2.4 million in the United States. So I just have to suspend plans to travel for now,” he explained. John Effiong, another traveller told BusinessDay that he had plans to travel to France with his family during his annual leave in two months’ time but had to cancel the plans because he could not afford the new cost for airfares. Effiong however said he would now be travelling to Egypt as an alternative because the cost of travelling to Egypt is about three times lower than what he would have spent on the cost of travel to France. “My travel agent had advised that Egypt can be another option instead of suspending our travel plans because there are still low fares to the North African country and its visa policy is quite flexible. “With Schengen, UK, US or Canada visa, people can travel to Egypt and get their visa on arrival. My family members all have Schengen visas and this just makes things easy for us. We get to spend less on travel and ease of visa makes it more attractive,” he said. Since last year, foreign airlines operating in Nigeria blocked low ticket inventories (cheap tickets), leaving high inventories (costly tickets) to be sold in naira only, while the low ticket inventories on most airlines’ websites could only be bought with dollar cards only. This was in a bid to cushion the effect of their trapped funds in Nigeria which kept rising. While airlines gradually opened up low ticket inventories which they had blocked, as the Central Bank of Nigeria released their trapped funds in trickles, BusinessDay’s investigations show that high ticket inventories were still more on the websites, making ticket prices high. Susan Akporiaye, the President of the National Association of Travel Agents of Nigeria, (NANTA) told BusinessDay that the reduction in summer travels has been there since the restriction of inventories on the airlines’ website. Akporiaye however noted that the new dollar rate policy has worsened the situation because ticket prices are very high that even corporate travels are now affected. “This is not how summer usually is. We had this same experience last year summer because of the inventory restrictions. Already, the inventories have still not been released yet. So, even with the new dollar rate unification, there is no difference and it is even worse because the highest economy class ticket for Lagos to the United States when the exchange rate was about N460 to a dollar was N1.9million but now at over N760 to a dollar, ticket prices are between N2.5million to N3.2million. “This is why we are talking to the airlines. The rate of exchange is very high now. What airlines can do so they don’t punish passengers is to release the lower fares. If the lower fares are released, at least people will be able to get tickets of N700,000,” the NANTA president said. She said the new exchange rate policy has further reduced ticket sales. “Before now, it was only on the naira platform that we had the highest fares but on the dollar platform, the lower fares were still there. So people could just go to the black market and buy dollars. But now, everyone is feeling it. “So, there is not much difference between buying tickets in dollars and buying tickets in naira anymore. The policy has unified the whole system. So, whether you buy the tickets in dollars or in naira, there is no difference. The only thing that the airlines have done to help the travel agency community is that they have given us a dollar platform too. So people don’t have to go online anymore. We can also service them,” Akporiaye said. She said the travel agents depended on corporates before now because they could afford the high ticket costs but now, the corporates are also cancelling their travel plans. Speaking on travels to other African countries, the NANTA president said Nigerians are now beginning to open their minds to exploring destinations in Africa. “People are still travelling to South Africa despite the visa issues and the visa online platform that has been opened up is helping too so that people can just do their online applications and travel. “Other African countries opening up are Namibia, Kenya and Botswana. Egypt had been open since Dubai suspended flights into Nigeria. The Egyptians were very smart. They introduced some new innovations in their visa policy which really helped because Egypt was an alternative for Nigerians but the visa was the problem because people had to wait for almost three months for their visas. But this is no longer the case anymore. “Egypt now has visa on arrival for people that have either a Schengen, UK, US or Canada visa. If you have any of these visas, no need to go to the embassy. Just jump on the plane and you get your visa-on-arrival which is 50 dollars. This has helped a lot. Some travellers travelling to the US, now stop over at Cairo for a few days just to have fun, then proceed to the US because of the ease of visa on arrival,” she explained. She also mentioned that Rwanda is also very easy for Nigerians because it doesn’t require a visa, adding that more Nigeria has seized this opportunity to do business and go on holidays in Rwanda. She said most African airlines still sell lower ticket fares. https://businessday.ng/news/article/nigerians-suspend-travel-plans-to-us-europe-as-economy-tickets-hit-n2-2m/

David should be very careful with women. Money can't solve that problem. |
I'm sure the tinubu-led govt never saw this coming. Services cost will increase, Discos are increasing theirs by 40% already as announced School fees will increase Inevitable/essential Imported goods prices will increase Prices of Commodity will also increase Flight rate will increase...it has already been jacked up to 2m naira now. Before you embark on that summer trip with family, you must first think twice if its worth embarking on or not and then l, the likely effect on your financial needs when you come back. Who are now feeling the heat of bad choices now...the politicians or the masses who voted them? Angola only reduced their subsidy, instead of total removal, after reviewing the potential impact on thehr people. Government is all about service to the people but when the case turns the other way round, I wonder what we should call it. |
The announcement of subsidy removal by tinubu is tantamount to putting a cart before a horse. |
RECTEM:I'd advise you pray for yourself and family. Don't put your hope in this government. Once your family is OK that's fine. You and I were in this country when they said 250 naira to a dollar wasn't OK in 2015, that they'd reverse it. I'm sure you know how much the dollar is today and their blind supporters are praising them for impoverishing the common man. Even those praise singers are worse hit by their bad economic policies. If your family is blessed, you'd not even bother yourself over their activities anymore. A friend came to visit me yesterday and said his former colleague who owns Konga is now number 20 on the list of the richest people in Nigeria. That's the type of news that should excite you and I, work hard and engage God in your doings. He bought 30 brand new trucks recently . He wants to go into logistics now and call it Konga logistics. He's diversifying, you see. He's richer than many of the thieves who are in government today. |
Helpfromabove1:That's what I expected but I don't see it happening ![]() |
Figger:You made sense. |
Criminals |
PUSSYHOE:It will never work. USD rate today scared me. Those in government today are criminals. They are only using the medium to transfer their stuck dollars overseas |
The tree seems tall and can fall across the river easily. Once the tree falls, the guy will land at the river bank and move away. If you don't touch or hurt a snake, it won't attack you. The snake won't do him any harm. He should just allow the tree land. He'd be a free man thereafter. |
PDP remains the only truly democratic party in Africa like ive always said. The party which doesn't discriminate or stigmatise. It doesn't matter who you are, your religion or where you come from, you'd be equally treated. APC peeps are nothing but power grabbers. Can someone tell me how much is USD today and how much it was in 2015? I just want to check something. Apc is a party which rides on propaganda. What they accused another party of , would be exhibited by the apc and they'd say its the best step ever taken and their myopic followers would back their polices. Up till last week, boko haram, aka bandits still killed many but you'd never hear the apc say a word, as if those victims weren't human beings. During Jonathan administration, they made it look like its the worst of all incidents in Nigeria when chibok girls were kidnapped...and buhari promised to rescue all of them if elected. Several school girls had been kidnapped and never returned under the apc but they killed the matter with propaganda. I blame Atiku who came and dabaru everything. I Hope he doesn't come in the next 4 years again cos he has the money to buy every spirit and soul in order to have his way. People like him don't know what to do with money again. The progress of the country isn't in their heart. When fuel was selling for less than 100 naira Jonathan said he'd remove subsidy and buhari, Tinubu and Co hit him and staged protests nationwide. Nigeria would have faced better today economically, had they allowed him that time. Now that they're doing that, it comes rather too late. The corruption they accused the pdp of is a commonplace under the apc. I'm still waiting for the day they'd treat that accountant general who singlehandedly stole over 100bn the way they're dealing with diezani today Or the day they'd jail Hadi Sirika for scamming a country of over 200m population by faking the Nigerian Air after stealing billions from that investment or malami who sold a vessel of crude during COVID-19 to China when there was lockdown globally. Or aisha who almost ran the flow of dollar at the cbn dry in fx deals or the minister of disaster management who was still feeding school children with billions during covid-19 when all of them were with their parents at home and schools were shut down globally. The same lady was accused of cornering billioms of palliatives but nothingeas done about her matter. . Peter Obi didn't leave the pdp because he lost at the primaries. He left because the north wasn't the region to produce the next aspirant. He'd have stepped down for anyone from the south. That split vote wouldn't have happened. They'd have had an easy win. |
Evestar200:It's not from your mouth or teeth. None of the solutions suggested by quacks here will ever work. The odour isn't coming from your mouth. It's a respiratory issue...coming from the inside..its not life-threatening but you can treat it. Go to the hospital and see a physician for treatment. Are you asthmatic? |
I'm more interested in nasarawa's case. It was a daylight robbery. |
Chronicwanker:Do you also have unprotected sex? |
HenryWilliams:Lol. Wetin you sabi sef |
Did they think the Titanic ship just hit the iceberg and capsized at that spot in 1912, just like that?. Its high time these adventure-loving people knew that there's something called marine spirit. |
Agbegbaorogboye:For trucks , yes but for industries, nope. With the advent of electric engine automobiles, that challenge will soon be overcome. We have a manufacturer in Germany. They're located in far away BadEms where there's no electricity. They generate their own electricity via solar. They also sell to their government as thry generate in excess. Back home in Nigeria, the moment you pass the sagamu interchange, as if you're going to ibadan, you'd see heavy industries located on both sides of the highway. They depend on solar and inverter technology. Gone are the days when factories would install heavy machines that would be consuming electricity like food. Nowadays, technology has taken over. Most of the machineries are now built on robotics which consume less energy. Even in your home, im sure you dont have those 50w and 100w big eye bulbs anymore. Its LED cold light peppoe use now, very bright and consumes less electricity. Solar and inverter technology remain the best alternative to the overhyped electricity. I see a future where every city, state, schools will be generating their own electricity . The 2nd alternative is gas turbine technology but its capital intensive. If a state can invest in it, the ROI will be fast cos it meant for heavy users. That's what they use at the redemption camp. Since they invested in this, they've stopped burning diesel in thehr 40 units of heavy duty industrial generators. |
Go the inverter route, its that simple. Many people dont seem to realise they are wasting a huge sum of their hard-earned money by buying a diesel generator. You buy the gen at a high cost, you still keep feeding it with diesel daily, which costs a lot of money. Maintenance nko? Get an inverter with Lithium-ion batteries of your capacity and you would say bye to generator or phcn. If you have constant power supply in your region, you can always charge it with electricity and where power supply is not constant, install solar panels and charge your batteries with it. You would not have to keep running to your gen to turn it on and off each time nepa takes light, especially while watching your favourite programme on tv. This does not cost an arm and a leg people. You can have it in the office and home. You would not even notice a blink once phcn ceases their epileptic source of power supply with the inverter in place. Switching is automatic. You dont have to buy locally. It will be very expensive. Go to alibaba and search. Order and ship to Nigeria by yourself via sea. Air shipment is expensive. Do this and you would thank me later. |

Tinubu is a wise leader. Ambode must have learned one or two lessons.
