It probably wld arouse more feelings within the black american community.. with the women being a source of strength and role models for their young kids. This However, it is too typical, especially within the nigerian context. 2 stars

Nice. Her two fingers shapes into a flute, while the entire painting depicts an oriental context. Since I'm not really into music, i do not appreciate this as I shld probably do. 3 Stars

The male half is quite ordinary and quite contemporary, but the female part is a fusion of history and modernity. 3 stars

I love these isolated and seemingly random pictures of
black women who appear to be into themselves.

The "soul searching" and "self appreciation" pictures are the ultimate
for me. This is definitely a combination of both.

There is so much meaning to these things and only someone with an eye
for and appreciation for art know what I mean

Fulaman198: Your own culture? Does it not make you feel like a fool, when you smile with glee at Western culture and frown upon your own culture. Does it not hurt you when you can speak a Western language better than your own mother tongue? Does it not hurt you when you don't know of the tradition(s) that you forefathers had practiced generations before you were born.

To me as a Nigerian, I'm fed up when I type in Nigerian music on youtube, I see a lot of Western-influenced or Bollywood influenced Music. Whenever I type in Senegalese or Malian music, they are playing their own music with pride, wearing their own traditional African clothing that is common amongst us West African folks. With Nigerian music nowadays you see them singing in Pidgin or English with a Westernized of Bollywood influenced beat. It makes me sick to my stomach.

Is not a shame for me to be more proud of Senegalese, Malian, Nigerien, Chadic, Burkinabe music than our own. Where is the pride and creativity?
We all influence ourselves. Even western music is influenced by music from other cultures. This is the new reality of globalization

Christianity EtcA Better Way Of Saying "The Grace" by esere826(op): 12:55pm On Aug 19, 2012
- Have u been wishing that the grace of God rests on you?
- When does this wishing stop, and the grace actually starts resting on you?

Well for believers, it already has, so its time to change your prayers to one of confirmation. Instead of asking that: "May the grace.. rest on you.."; go on and pray this way:

"The grace of our lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the sweet fellowship of the holy Spirit; it rests and it abides with me even now and for ever more"

It might sound odd to you at first, but you'll soon get used to it and feel the joy that comes along with knowing that the grace already rests on you.

Stay blessed smiley

Gabriel: "They are playing a game of -I like your thing"

Me: "Let's go do down there and scatter them a second time. Remember the fun we had during the time of Nimrod and his tower of Babel"
Gabriel: "No need. There is already a cacophony of voices, confusion reigns in their midst. And this time around, its a lady called cuddlemii in charge"

Me: "umhhhh ... i c. We'd better avoid them then, no need for us to get blamed when the guys eat medicated apples. Still scathing from the last experience"

coogar: you lack the ability to comprehend. the op and the man she's talking about had been "platonic friends" for 3 years. they were not romantically involved until recently when the dude proposed and yet this scrounger of a woman expects the man to have been paying for her hair all this while? do you expect your platonic friends to pay for your hair, buy your airtime credits and pay for your maxipads?

epitomes of firewood background is blatantly obvious on these pages. some women have traded their self esteem for a plate of rice @ tasty fried chicken. no wonder a naija man can openly slap her partner in public and treat her like a mongrel. why won't he? the women want to be treated as such by expecting handouts!
Ohhhh, interesting twist to the saga.

I got the impression that he had been romantically interested in her all this while, but she had initially only wanted him as a friend. So one of her grouse now is that why couldn't he push further by showing, more responsibility towards her through tokens

I guess we are all touching the elephant from different blind spots. Op suppose come here answer questions ooo

aribisala0: Nothing African about expecting a man to pay your fashion expenses. Firstly Africans are very diverse and the attitudes on this issue even in Nigeria are multiple. So Hausas,Igbos and Edos have different attitudes.Probably most African women work very hard farming or trading to look after themselves and children.

Even now with urbanization this is more a thing of social class. Lower socio-economic class women i.e Oshodi,Mushin,Egbeda etc generally expect their men to "pay" them in a relationship. This class is not something that changes with wealth or status. A good example of such a person is the First Widow herself.
Women whose parents are financialy able, well raised and educated invariably grow up to be achievers. Even in university you see such women when they have no money they keep their heads down and study unlike the others who must have BB by force,do all kinds of "RUNS" and claim their parents are in Dubai when really they are in Dugbe.
In fact the comment about a man should pay for your hairdo immediately tells me your background more than anything else ; Orile ,Bandri or similar ghettoes,in short,a social climber.
My friend shut up angry this is a beer parlor analysis, and u come here dey turn to social analyst grin

shuddyy: I think we are discussing two different Fareed Zakaria here! The true Fareed zakaria at the centre of this issue is the anchor of CNN GPS, he is undoubtedly super intelligent....way more intelligent that mediocres here calling him unintelligent. Definitely these critics calling him unintelligent don't watch CNN GPS neither do they read his articles in The Time. Too bad he got his credibility stained by plagiarism. But nonetheless he remains a very brilliant top notch thinker and public analyst! GPS is the only programme I look forward to every week. I admire him so much I promise to give his name to my first son!!!

I still think that Fareed is more intelligent that the average dude out there despite his wayo

I dont always agree with him, but do you know how tough it is to be able to weave an almost seamless narrative around geo-economical and social facts?

Hope this is not actually a character flaw that took him this far?

Cuddlemii: Ok lets ignore the 30 part.

Everyone is bothered about her desires. Have u stopped to think from the guys perspective? She said "yes" to him for crying out loud! Saying "no" now would only hurt that man and she might pay for that. Infact saying "no" would mean men should never be empathetic & compassionate to women cos they are "confused" lots. Now I see there is no disparity between men and women. Men are just transparent with their evil doings. If the man was ur brother or son, would u subscribe to her changing her decision? How inhuman can we be? If I am an employer, I can't employ such a fickle minded woman!
She's made one big mistake that has already got thousands of viewers examining her case. Any of the other two options, might also be a bigger mistake, ie going ahead or pulling out.

Na here she go bend her knees down and pray like mad. Also she must sit her man down and talk to him

I have seen a situation like this where the girl got engaged stupidly, and while she was 'waiting and praying' over her mistake and trying to convince the guy to re orientate himself another correct bobbo showed up. Wanting her, but understanding her situation did not even waste time dating her. He married her straight away

RomanceRe: HOW TO AVOID "I WILL THINK ABOUT IT" RESPONSE? by esere826: 2:56pm On Aug 11, 2012
mikeuz: It hate when I ask a girl out and she gives me 'I will think about it' response.

So it got me thinking how do people ask their girlfriends out to avoid that kind of response.
Two strategies could be deployed here
1) Chase her without asking any questions then bed her
2) Chase her, ask the question (because u realize that she wants u to ask) then don't wait for the answer, just go ahead.

Its always been kinda funny to me for a guy to ask a girl out, then wait for a positive answer. Dis no be marriage naw. If the girl is not interested, she'll tell u no.

In fact if u want to be a player, u can use this as a strategy, by simply telling the girl later on, that she did not give u an answer, so u thot u guys were just having fun....shekina
FamilyRe: Marrying Someone You Are Not Crazy About.- Should I Marry Him? by esere826: 2:40pm On Aug 11, 2012
@bebe4u

The guy shld be man enough to also discuss accomodation with u. Even if it means u telling u to ur face that u will move into im mama and papa house or that u would pay the rent. In fact, i wonder why u've not raised cash issues and other important issues with him. The way he conveys his answer shld help u in thinking clearly.

And by the way, u are not even attracted to the guy in anyway, What are u still doing there? Trust me, even at age 35 u would be proposed to as a woman. The challenge would be getting the best fit. So ur definitely not in a better situation right now
FamilyRe: Marrying Someone You Are Not Crazy About.- Should I Marry Him? by esere826: 2:28pm On Aug 11, 2012
@ bebe4u

No marry the guy oo. at least not yet. You guys are evidently not compatible from your write up. He's not your type. If he can't give you little cash gifts, even if you are richer than him, the he's not worth it. Forget all the hungry guys complaining here. If they stick to only one chick, they should be generous enough to spare her some change once in a while, even 1000 naira. It all depends on the way that the money is presented.

Remember the story of MKO Abiola, when a poor lady brought him a crate of eggs as gifts (what others didn't do) and he was amazed and blessed her life after that.

At 30, u sure will feel the pressure, but be rest assured that there are guys that actually prefer to date ladies above 30 years old grin. These guys tend to be more classy, and will go for you if ur also classy.

As for you, u must be able to give ur man something, not necessarily turning urself to mama put or a sex machine. Probably conversations that would better ur man's life
